00:00Diana Rossini saying, the Vikings have reached agreement with former Cardinals quarterback
00:04Kyler Murray.
00:06After seven seasons in Arizona, Murray will join Kevin O'Connell and J.J. McCarthy in
00:12Minnesota on a one-year deal.
00:14And Kevin O'Connell, this is another tweet from her saying, Kevin O'Connell made it very
00:17clear that J.J. McCarthy will have to compete for the starting job in Minnesota this year.
00:22The quarterback battle will be between him and Kyler Murray.
00:26Murray, I'm a little surprised Kyler couldn't get the starting nod here.
00:31So obviously Kyler's got a lot of belief he can beat out J.J. McCarthy.
00:33That's a big component to this.
00:34The other thing I find really interesting out of this, rap sheet reporting per his agent
00:38that the one-year contract does include a no tag clause.
00:41That's pretty smart.
00:42Yeah, I mean, it says that Murray to be a free agent in 2027 if he is so inclined.
00:46And so like, this is kind of, it's just, it's a one-year bet on himself thing.
00:51He's putting himself in a decent spot.
00:52I told you before how much I like Minnesota as a spot for him.
00:55A lot of people did though.
00:56Not on an island on that one, but there it is.
00:59Now, do we need to find out that the Browns were in in some capacity?
01:02I would like that, yes.
01:03I told you earlier, I don't think we're going to get that.
01:06I don't know that that's going to get leaked.
01:07Like, if you were in it and he just chose Minnesota, I would get it.
01:12I would understand and be like, okay, well, at least you tried.
01:15Yeah.
01:15If you weren't one of the teams that called and talked to him.
01:18Well, I know like Pony earlier suggested that the Steelers were one of the teams that got
01:22to talk to Kyler Murray.
01:23Take Pony for whatever it's worth.
01:24He even kind of couched it within the tweet that he sent out about it.
01:27Yeah, I take it for whatever it's worth.
01:28I doubt we'll find it out, but it shouldn't hurt Shador's feelings or Deshaun's feelings
01:34if that is the reality.
01:35Like, that's the position the Browns were in.
01:37If they could have got a Kyler Murray, they should have been involved in those type of
01:40conversations.
01:41And obviously, Kyler then chose a different direction.
01:43Yeah, I mean, I think it's interesting.
01:45I think there's more risk going to Minnesota because he doesn't have a guarantee about starting.
01:51You know, this is one of those weird things where I think the read is Quesi Adolfo Mensah
01:56was the guy that was the predominant driver of drafting J.J. McCarthy.
02:02But at the same point, J.J.'s been there for two years.
02:07Everybody else who was in the front office that drafted J.J. McCarthy is still there.
02:11Kevin O'Connell, who's given him opportunities and allowed him to start, is still there.
02:15Like, I just, I feel like this is much more of an uphill battle for Kyler than he needs
02:21at this point in his career.
02:22And again, like, it's his decision.
02:24You choose Kevin O'Connell.
02:25You choose Justin Jefferson.
02:27But like, J.J. McCarthy, as is more of a traditional pocket quarterback and less of a dual threat
02:34quarterback, is more of what Kevin likes to work with as opposed to Kyler.
02:38I think from Kyler's perspective, though, and we've seen some of the things that KOC said
02:42about J.J. McCarthy and practices and stuff like that.
02:44You mean nine?
02:46Nine, yeah.
02:46Yeah, not very complimentary of nine.
02:48Yeah.
02:49It's probably because he refers to himself as nine.
02:52Yeah, and every time you think about J.J., you just get that photo of him just looking
02:56angry at the camera and very, like, just very mean about everything.
02:59And it's his, like, game on face.
03:01Yeah, because he's nine.
03:02Yeah, yeah.
03:03Is he any good?
03:04Nine.
03:05See there, I went a little German there.
03:06It's just weird is all it is.
03:08The whole thing is weird.
03:092-1-6-4-7-4-00-9-2.
03:11So, Kyler Murray has reached agreement with the Minnesota Vikings, according to multiple
03:17reports now.
03:18The smartest thing of this whole thing was the no tag.
03:21Because he does go out there and has a great year.
03:24It does allow Kyler.
03:25And, like, that was always part of what I thought people missed.
03:29Like, so much.
03:31I had countless people say, oh, do you think Kyler, you know, feels like he made a mistake
03:36going to baseball?
03:37And it's like he's already made roughly $200 million, and he's one good year away from
03:42making at least $100 more million.
03:45In baseball, he would have gotten, I think, like $20 million signing somewhere.
03:50I can't remember the exact contract, so I shouldn't even throw out $20 million.
03:53But he's going to make whatever the signing bonus was, and then he'd be kind of lucky,
03:59as first-round picks in baseball are, to even get to the big leagues.
04:02And when it comes to guys that make $300 million in their career, they sure as hell don't do
04:07it before they turn 30.
04:08Yeah, also, he just would have had to really given up on the idea that he could play in
04:11the NFL at any sort of level.
04:12And that was just never going to happen.
04:13There's just more money to be made for quarterbacks in the NFL than your average baseball player.
04:17Just so much more.
04:17And, like, think about it.
04:18If he does the same thing that you just watched Darnold do with the Vikings, like, and the
04:22path is it's all right there for you.
04:24They got a very similar team, all things considered, to what they had two years ago when they set
04:29everything up to begin with anyway.
04:30And so, like, Darnold won 14 games with that same setup.
04:34Go out and win 14 games.
04:35Win 13 games.
04:36Win 12 games.
04:36And you're going to end up with a $100 million deal.
04:38It's not really a big deal.
04:40That's a really funny joke.
04:41Tom Fornelli doing the Kyler Murray versus J.J. McCarthy.
04:47We're responding to a tweet, and he said it's 9 versus 5-9.
04:51That is pretty funny.
04:53Also, the Vikings have made it official, sending out the tweet that they have signed Kyler Murray.
05:00I said in the next 24 hours from 4 o'clock yesterday, so I missed it by 2 and a
05:03half.
05:04Wait on it.
05:05All that matters is you were wrong.
05:06Yep.
05:07Very wrong.
05:07I'm just kidding.
05:08I really am.
05:08I was just, I promise you, I'm kidding.
05:11Oh, don't know.
05:11Don't worry.
05:12We're all talking about what a D you've been today.
05:13Don't worry.
05:14Pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew.
05:15Who's we?
05:18Everyone.
05:18Everyone.
05:19I'm just messing with you.
05:20You're just jealous of the Bigfoot pictures out there.
05:24I'm a little bummed.
05:25Wait a minute.
05:25Yeah.
05:26My Joe's a Bigfoot, or what am I jealous of?
05:28Yes.
05:29Yes.
05:29But no, I'm a little bummed by this.
05:31And again, I know that this was always what people expected.
05:35I just think you could offer something to Kyler Murray that no one else could.
05:40And that is a clearer shot at the quarterback spot in an offense that I think would fit more with
05:46you.
05:46It's tough now to then look at the next round of free agents.
05:50I probably wouldn't want to take the day before I go, okay, who's next up?
05:54Just because I don't think any of them kind of have the upside of Kyler Murray.
05:57I mean, Kyler was the one guy that I was willing to basically say, all right, Shador, you don't
06:00got it next year, and I'm going to go ahead.
06:02I want to see what this other guy can do within this system.
06:05And the idea that if you landed Kyler, it's very simple.
06:08You get a chance to win a lot of games this year, and you get a chance to get a
06:11franchise
06:11quarterback and then see where it can take you.
06:13And if it doesn't work out, then 2027, the draft is right there.
06:16He's the only one I was willing to move off of Shador for.
06:18There's not anybody else out there that intrigues me enough.
06:21I wouldn't move off Shador for this, but I would still be interested in Mac Jones, hypothetically.
06:26I'm going to have to look at the other free agents, because there are enough.
06:29Like, I think this certainly makes you wonder, where does Kirk Cousins go?
06:33Which a guy, by the way, he's been a guy that multiple ESPN people have sent towards the
06:39Browns throughout this entire discussion.
06:41I haven't sent him to the Browns in this entire discussion, because I think he does absolutely
06:44nothing for you.
06:45But yeah, he's a guy that a lot of people have been discussing to land with the Browns.
06:48But if it's like a Kirk Cousins versus Shador battle, it's all right, Shador better win
06:53that one.
06:54These are the signed quarterbacks.
06:56Mitchell Trubisky, no, we're going to the available quarterbacks, so I have to flip through
07:00here.
07:01Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Zach Wilson.
07:04Would you rather Zach Wilson or Anthony Richardson?
07:08Well, I'd prefer neither.
07:10I think I'd probably take Zach Wilson, because he's actually sat on the bench for the last year
07:14or two.
07:14I don't know if Anthony Richardson can actually see.
07:16And that's a problem?
07:17That's a real problem.
07:18Yeah, vision is something you would want from a quarterback.
07:21Just to guarantee that you got 20-20 vision at this point, that might be nice.
07:25Tyrod's still out there.
07:26And Zach Wilson can help out the Cougars in Parma, so we have that going for us, which
07:30is nice.
07:30All right, I'm going to give you three names.
07:32And Mac wants to hop all over the Anthony Richardson thing.
07:34And some of the Cougars in Parma.
07:35Anthony Richardson for a fifth-round pick, or Trey Lancer's Zach Wilson for free.
07:40Mac?
07:43Oh, he's thinking.
07:44He's thinking.
07:45It's not that deep.
07:46Yeah.
07:47That's what said the Cougars in Parma.
07:49Okay, if I had to rank those options there, I would go Anthony Richardson first, then I
07:53would go Trey, and then I would go Zach Wilson.
07:56I don't understand your fascination with Anthony Richardson.
07:59He just likes him.
08:00He likes him.
08:00He doesn't know if he can see, but likes him.
08:02But why?
08:03I asked the man.
08:03I don't know.
08:04Please, I'm not trying to accost you, but it might sound like I'm trying to accost you.
08:07Again, it's a physical tool that the guy has.
08:09He has stuff that you can't teach.
08:11Except the things you can teach him, he can't do.
08:14Isn't that a problem?
08:16I mean, if you have the coaching staff that he has over there, where, again, it seems like
08:19they're just willing to toss the guy out.
08:21Okay, if you have somebody like Munkin who can go ahead and work with the guy, okay, maybe
08:25he's able to get something out of it.
08:26I think Shane Steichen is a little more well-respected around the NFL than Todd Munkin, no?
08:32I mean, I wouldn't disagree with you there, but, I mean, again, still, I think that it's
08:36somebody that clearly Munkin has said that he wants to work with somebody with that kind
08:40of a skill set.
08:40I'd like to see what Munkin can do there.
08:42Not me.
08:43Good God.
08:44I just...
08:44I'd rather see that than Zach Wilson.
08:47Zach Wilson actually has played more football, though, which is, and I'm talking about in college
08:51and in the pros, like one of the indicators of, hey, this guy has played football, but maybe
08:57not at the right level is your ability to sustain yourself on the football field.
09:01Again, I am not a big believer in Zach Wilson, but he has done...
09:05He's done more on an NFL field than Anthony Richardson has.
09:08I think that's even debatable.
09:11Do I have to stat you?
09:12I'd like to see a stat off on this, as we just watch people just completely just not care
09:19at all about the side of this.
09:20Zach Wilson, 57% completion percentage.
09:22That's better than Anthony Richardson.
09:24Richardson, 6,300 passing yards, 23 touchdowns to 25 interceptions.
09:29I believe that's a better touchdown to pass, touchdown to interception ratio, and he started
09:3733 games in his career.
09:40State your facts on Anthony Richardson.
09:42You're up, Matt.
09:43Go ahead.
09:43That our completion percentage, touchdown to INT ratio, and starts.
09:4950%.
09:49Anytime now you want to talk here, Matt.
09:51I'm pulling it up, all right?
09:52You got me a break here.
09:53Is it 8-12?
09:54It's 11-13, I think, is his numbers, right?
09:57Touchdown interception.
09:58Yeah, 11-13.
09:58Is that good?
10:01It's not great.
10:02I'm not debating that.
10:04Again, if these guys were about with the ball, they wouldn't be available here right now
10:08as we're on day two of free agency.
10:10You can use that for every quarterback.
10:12Same thing with Kyler Murray.
10:13Go ahead.
10:15Okay.
10:16Who has had more accomplishments in the NFL as a starting quarterback?
10:20As a starting quarterback, you can say that Zach Wilson has won.
10:25Are you going to go QB record?
10:26One more game?
10:27You can go QB record.
10:28I'm sorry, four more games.
10:29You can go QB record?
10:30No, you're saying more accomplished here.
10:32When I have completion percentage, yardage, touchdown to INT ratio?
10:37You're going to?
10:38I mean, we're arguing trash versus trash here.
10:40Yeah.
10:41That's why we should sign Trey Lance.
10:43We agree.
10:43We're arguing trash versus trash.
10:45But like Trey Lance.
10:46Yeah, but some trash is better than others.
10:47Trey Lance last year, trash.
10:49Trey Lance, you can't bring into the stat conversation at all because he doesn't have
10:53a totally different conversation.
10:54He doesn't have any that exists.
10:56This is more of a Malik Willis conversation.
11:00He's played so little, you just don't know what he has.
11:02And in the little that he has played, absolute stinker.
11:05I mean, absolute stinker.
11:07He's got one good game against a team, I think, in the final year, or his first year
11:11in San Francisco.
11:12Well, yeah, remember that it was the Bears game, his rookie season.
11:16He played four games his rookie season.
11:17Remember, he serves me right.
11:18It was that Bears game that was like a torrential downpour and just an absolute mess of a way
11:23to evaluate him.
11:24Yeah.
11:25Let me see here because I want to make sure I call this game right.
11:28Yeah, it was Houston.
11:29Look at this stat line.
11:31This is a real stallion here.
11:32249 yards, two touchdowns, one interception.
11:35He had 62.
11:37Wait, no, I'm looking at the wrong one.
11:3831 yards on the ground.
11:41What a stallion.
11:42And based off that one game, because that's what we do with quarterbacks four years ago,
11:47Trey Lance has got to be the guy.
11:48He's shown some upside.
11:51Okay, then.
11:53Okay.
11:55Well, no, we're cherry-picking games, right?
11:57I'm not doing anything.
11:58I'm just sitting back and watching you guys compare trash versus trash versus trash.
12:02I expect Lima, now that Malik Willis is off the board, to have a full expose on the one
12:06good game Trey Lance had four years ago.
12:08You see in these discussions, and Trey Lance versus Anthony Richardson versus anybody else
12:12you want to bring to the equation, you can see why now I'm at this point, I'm like,
12:15all right, Shador, week one.
12:17Fine, bringing somebody for him to battle with, okay, that's fine.
12:19But Kyler was the only one I was willing to move off of Shador for this season and say,
12:25you're the starter, that's it.
12:26Now, anybody else they bring in, it's a legitimate, I mean, sure, you call it a battle,
12:30call it whatever you want, but Shador should have the upper hand.
