Gabriela, a theater student and cheerleader for a basketball team begins a job at a carwash in order to help out her family - her father has just died and she is the eldest of her siblings. The carwash is owned by a famous businessman, Tony Clemente, who will meet Gabriela and have a short but passionate affair with her. Gabriela, however, is falsely accused of drug trafficking and ends up in jail, with a 15-year sentence. Tony abandons her due to her bad luck, choosing to ignore the fact that she is expecting his child. In jail, Gabriela plots her escape, something she pulls off after having served seven years behind bars. Only one objective drives her existence: revenge against the man who ruined her life, Tony Clemente. To achieve her purpose, she changes her name and her physical appearance and manages to reintroduce herself into the life of Tony, making him fall in love with her all over again.

00:01Gabrielle Swanson?
00:03A present from Tony Clemente.
00:21That vacuum cleaner says we must think people are enough to go through idiots or something.
00:27Detective.
00:28Ask her around if anyone knows anything about Gabrielle.
00:33You must love her very much.
00:35Oh, he adores her.
00:36Yes.
00:37I can't imagine or suppose they'd separate.
00:41Separate? Who? Tony and Layla?
00:44Oh, no, not possible.
00:46No, of course, there are problems.
00:48I mean, no marriage is perfect. The pressure's a business.
00:51You can imagine what that does.
00:52And a man like Tony leaves little to the imagination.
00:57Amanda, are you threatening me?
01:00Bad idea.
01:02You can make of it what you want.
01:05Watch yourself.
01:11You'll be sorry, Tony Clemente.
01:15You'll see if I'm that easy to forget.
01:20I wish somebody could tell me how things like this happen.
01:23You should have seen my face when the lady told me about Tony and Layla.
01:28No, they're fantastic.
01:29All he really cares about is his beautiful wife.
01:32He never makes a move without her.
01:34Of course, he leaves little to the imagination.
01:39It sure would appear that he's had plenty of affairs.
01:42That's what you were, Gabrielle.
01:44Just another woman.
01:51I called him, Mom.
01:53You're not to call him.
01:54Do you understand?
01:55This little affair is over.
01:57Let him ruin someone else's life.
02:00I told him I was waiting for his return, Mom.
02:02There's nothing here for him.
02:05He's not for you.
02:06Don't you understand?
02:07He's a married man.
02:09Why don't you get that?
02:10It's because your head's up there in the clouds.
02:14So you're gonna be a mistress?
02:16Is that how I raised you?
02:17A kept woman?
02:18Is that how you wanna live?
02:19They'll call you slut or-
02:20Don't say that!
02:21I don't care what people say.
02:24You don't think I've thought of that?
02:29I know that he's dated other women and he's not happy at home.
02:36But he called from Santa Domingo.
02:38He sent me his chauffeur and he sent me flowers along with him.
02:41So what he sent flowers?
02:43A guy like that?
02:45Owns you after giving you flowers?
02:46I'm not owned.
02:50You don't know.
02:52This is my life!
02:59Ma, you don't know Tony like I do.
03:02Did it ever occur to you that he might be telling the truth?
03:05Why shouldn't I believe him?
03:07Because you're headed straight for disaster.
03:12Please.
03:14And what am I supposed to do about this situation, hmm?
03:18How can I stand by and watch this?
03:20It was easier when you were a kid.
03:23You used to listen.
03:24You did everything I told you without argument.
03:27This could not have happened.
03:30If you were a bad girl, you'd stay indoors all day and be set to bed without dinner.
03:37Could you tell me how to protect you?
03:40I don't know how.
03:47I need to ask him, Mama.
03:51I know that he loves me.
03:53I know that he does.
03:55But I need to hear him say it.
03:57That he cares.
03:58And that he has feelings for me at this moment.
04:04If it's just an affair, like that lady implied, then I'll try to forget about him.
04:13Because that would be the end and I'll have to live with it.
04:16But if he tells me that he's still in love with me, then that's all I want.
04:21I don't care what people think.
04:33Because you told me I'd know when I was in love.
04:38Do you remember that?
04:41That I would know when it was the right one for me.
04:44Hmm?
04:51Life's so hard as a mother.
04:55You have no idea.
04:59You always strive to do your best.
05:02But it's tough because you never know what's right.
05:05And you pray for the best and sometimes it turns out bad.
05:11This time I'm stumped completely.
05:17Because you're a woman now.
05:21Perhaps I should leave you alone.
05:24You know?
05:26You're no longer a baby.
05:28See how hard this is for me to do.
05:31Because no matter how old you get, you'll always be my little one.
05:36My little Gabrielle.
05:42How easy it was when you were a little girl.
05:45If I could turn back time, I'd still make all the bad things go away.
05:58You're going to have to have some faith in me.
06:02You have to believe in me.
06:06Please do that for me.
06:09Okay?
06:30Close the door.
06:33And it's building a home.
06:33How old are you is dressed?
06:36I think you're very tiny.
06:36How old is my child?
06:49You're calling me now.
06:51I've never caught any years ago.
06:51I always want to steal my digoate.
06:51What are you doing here?
06:55I was just leaving a message for Tony.
07:01Herrendon, you know Tony doesn't like it when he's not here and someone's in his office.
07:07You know better.
07:09Sorry, Wallace. Mr. Clemente's chauffeur called me.
07:12He wanted me to look into something about an acting school.
07:16It seems Mr. Clemente wants to give a scholarship to someone to study outside the country.
07:21That's why I was here.
07:23You don't think I was looking through his desk or anything? I'd never invade his privacy.
07:28No, no, no, no. Herrendon, I don't suspect anything.
07:33It's just normally the policy of this organization that when the president's not in his office,
07:40then you should stay out.
07:45Did I make myself quite clear about this policy?
07:48Sure, sure. It won't happen again.
07:52Yes, and please see that it doesn't.
07:55I'll need to lock the office right now.
07:57Sure, bud.
08:00With all due respect, I didn't know I wasn't allowed in here.
08:03I was just delivering a message that I was asked to deliver to Tony.
08:08Pardon me.
08:29We're going to fly back tonight with Mackenzie.
08:31You can fly my plane back tonight, or you can hang around here until tomorrow.
08:35It's really up to you.
08:37No, I'll fly back this evening.
08:39Hmm. Very good.
08:41Just as soon as you touch down, contact Gerald, my chauffeur.
08:45Let him know you've arrived.
08:48How come?
08:49I just want to know when you get in.
08:51If I'm not there, he'll let me know when you've arrived.
08:54Okay?
08:54All right.
08:55Layla, come on. Mackenzie's waiting at the airport.
08:57Perfect.
09:00See you later, Andrew.
09:01Bye, Mrs. Clemente.
09:03Andrew, do me a favor and don't take anyone back with you.
09:08Anyone in particular, Mr. Clemente?
09:12Policy.
09:14All right.
09:15Tomorrow, come to my office.
09:17I need to talk to you, and I want you to continue to work for me.
09:20Probably give you a raise and a new title.
09:22We're offering you something very important.
09:27Great.
09:29I'll see you then.
09:31We'll talk tomorrow.
09:32You have a safe flight back.
09:35Are you coming, Tony?
09:36Yes.
09:36Come on.
09:46Good evening.
09:50Let me have room 6A, please.
09:56Hello, Andrew.
09:59Hello, Amanda.
10:01Me? I'm fine.
10:05No, aren't you going back with Mr. Clemente?
10:10But you're leaving tonight.
10:13You're leaving in an hour?
10:15Uh-huh.
10:18Any room left for a hitchhiker?
10:35Hey, man, come on.
10:36It's getting late.
10:37Back off.
10:38I haven't eaten all day long.
10:40You can eat later.
10:41Aren't you forgetting that we're supposed to go pick up Gabrielle Swanson?
10:43No, that's one collar I wouldn't want.
10:46Well, why's that?
10:48Hey, listen.
10:50That girl was just offending her mother.
10:53The mother, she did nothing wrong.
10:54She was falsely accused to begin with.
10:56Maybe this girl did a number on the clothing factory, the one that accused her mom.
11:00But I'll tell you something.
11:02If it's me, my mother, and she's falsely accused of being a thief, don't try and tell me you wouldn't
11:07have done the same thing.
11:07But that doesn't happen to be our concern, partner.
11:10The girl is on the roster, and we have to go and pick her up.
11:13So eat up.
11:14We've got to get this girl.
11:15I want to go home early tonight.
11:31How's the flying?
11:33No problems.
11:35And are there any problems with you?
11:39This is very nice.
11:42Just the two of us together.
11:46Brought together.
11:48Brought together for a totally beautiful evening flight.
11:57Salud.
12:04Do you know what you're doing tomorrow?
12:08Not really.
12:13That's a coincidence.
12:19You have a nice mouth.
12:29Maybe we can do something about that.
12:34Maybe I'll kiss you.
12:56This has to do with you.
12:58I'm here as a representative of Clemente Enterprises.
13:03You see, this is very important, where you're concerned.
13:08Why not think of me?
13:09Not in terms of money only, but as a friend who can advise you on your career.
13:16Go on.
13:26I am very much involved in Tony Clemente's personal life.
13:31I'm involved.
13:33I'm involved because we're friends.
13:36Consequently, he tells me things.
13:43But aside from being his friend, I'm in charge of his finances.
13:50And I'm the vice president of the company.
13:53And I'm also supervisor of his other interests.
13:59I am employed, as well by Layla.
14:08Now, can you imagine the bad effects, the disaster that could occur if Tony divorced Layla?
14:17Hmm?
14:19No.
14:20You can't guess.
14:23It would be a catastrophe.
14:26A real disaster.
14:28Please, sir, I don't think this conversation is getting us anywhere.
14:30I think you should just leave.
14:31No, hold on a minute.
14:32Stay there.
14:38When I saw you over at Tony's apartment,
14:42I tried to protect you because I understand.
14:53I didn't grow up well to do either.
14:56My house, it was smaller than yours.
15:01I grew up with less than this.
15:03You see, that's why I can relate to you.
15:05We come from the same place.
15:07Hard-working families barely scraping by.
15:15So, on top of the desk in Tony's office,
15:18there was an address.
15:20An address in London.
15:23The address of the finest acting school in all of the world.
15:32I don't get it.
15:33Well, Tony was under the impression that you wanted to be an actress.
15:36He wants to send you abroad.
15:39Because you deserve the best.
15:41He wants you to study in England.
15:45Don't you want to study at the best school?
15:49It would mean a lot to him to be able to help you like this.
15:53Just consider it a gift.
15:55From him to you.
15:59I don't accept gifts.
16:02Listen, you're making a big mistake.
16:07Are you saying that I should take what I can get?
16:10No.
16:12To tell you the truth,
16:14I'm telling you to accept it graciously.
16:18Accept it.
16:20Accept it.
16:22Looking a gift horse in the mouth isn't going to help you.
16:28Think about you and your career.
16:30Because you want to be an actress.
16:32You'll never have another opportunity like this in your life.
16:38Look here.
16:40You should really go.
16:41We have nothing to talk about.
16:43Oh, please, Gabrielle.
16:45You really shouldn't act so haughty.
16:47You can't afford it.
16:48I'm trying to help you.
16:51Excuse me, but don't throw this away.
16:55You go and tell this to Tony.
16:59That I will only talk to Tony.
17:01Not with his company representatives
17:03or the associates of Tony.
17:06That is the only gift you can offer me.
17:09Can you put a price on that?
17:10I cost nothing.
17:12Can I make it any simpler?
17:14I don't need you to offer me anything
17:16other than a conversation with Tony.
17:19Nothing.
17:20Huh.
17:21Now, have I made that clear?
17:24There are no presents,
17:26no nice gifts,
17:27no more bribes, get it?
17:29I am not for sale.
17:30Do you understand?
17:36Yes.
17:38It is clear.
17:42You're something.
17:43I was an idiot to come here.
17:50You are different.
17:54But tonight, just consider it.
17:57Because you are meant for acting.
18:02You're young, and you're beautiful.
18:04And I have no doubt that you're very talented.
18:09Thank you for saying that.
18:13You've been a help, but I'm sorry.
18:16See, right now, it is not a possibility.
18:20Because that's how it is.
18:23I'm really needed here.
18:27But it'll happen.
18:28I'll just have to do it on my own.
18:30Can you accept that?
18:33All right.
18:34It was really nice meeting you.
18:35I'll see you some other time.
18:37Could you please leave?
18:39I want to be alone.
19:10I want to be alone.
19:10I want to be alone.
19:12Is it okay for us to do this?
19:16It's okay with me.
19:19No, I'm in the plane.
19:24The autopilot's on.
19:26We have a lot of time.
19:39I haven't stopped thinking about you since that time in New York.
19:44How long ago was that?
19:49Six months ago.
19:52You're really something.
19:55You're pretty fantastic yourself.
19:58I'm so glad we're together.
20:00At least I have one thing to thank Tony Clemente for.
20:32Is that you, Nellie?
20:36Who's there?
20:37Open the door, please.
20:38It's the place.
20:40Here.
20:41Ah, how marvelous.
20:42I hope you like it.
20:43Yes.
20:44Did you have fun?
20:45Ah, it was marvelous, Margaret.
20:47Just wonderful.
20:48It is so nice to get away.
20:50Yeah.
20:50And how did your meeting go?
20:52Perfection.
20:53Total perfection.
20:55Two days and everything's perfect.
20:57Incredible.
20:58You know.
20:59Layla, make some time tomorrow.
21:01Remember the seamstress I want you to see?
21:03You know.
21:04Her name is Lucille.
21:05Okay.
21:06She's a premier seamstress.
21:07And you'd better be her first client.
21:09Well, if she's as good as you say she is.
21:11Incredible.
21:12I must tell you about her daughter.
21:14Uh-huh.
21:15You will find this astounding.
21:17There's the most amazing coincidence with her.
21:19Because she is the girl that accidentally drenched Tony at the opening ceremony of the car wash.
21:24Are you kidding, Margaret?
21:25No.
21:25I couldn't believe it when Lucille told me it was her.
21:28But just imagine.
21:29I know.
21:30I can just see Tony puffed up and screaming, soaking wet.
21:35It was so funny.
21:37Don't say anything.
21:38When he went to work the next day, everyone was walking on eggshells because he was so angry about the
21:42entire thing happening.
21:43No, but it was this girl Lucille's daughter.
21:47But it was an accident.
21:48Mom, listen, her mother Lucille can't find her work.
21:52Perhaps you could find something for her daughter.
21:55What did you say her name was?
21:56Gabrielle.
21:57Gabrielle Swanson.
21:58Maybe I'll take her by tomorrow, huh?
22:00Perfect.
22:02Are you Gabrielle Swanson, miss?
22:05Yes, it's me.
22:06Please come down to the station.
22:08You need to make a statement to the police.
22:12You sure?
22:12Positive.
22:14Let's go.
22:16Tony, excuse me for meddling in your life.
22:18Now, why should today be different?
22:20See, whatever happens, you know about it before I do.
22:23Come on, I'm serious.
22:25Yesterday, Maurice dropped by here to say hi.
22:28And he had something interesting to tell me.
22:30You're listening to Maurice?
22:32Well, someone you know came by the house.
22:35Uh, Amanda.
22:36She wanted to talk to Layla.
22:38Amanda?
22:40Tony Clemente?
22:41Are you sure?
22:42Tony Clemente, are you going to listen to me?
22:44No, no, no.
22:45No.
22:45This is quite enough.
22:46You listen to me.
22:47You're always talking, but now listen carefully.
22:50Layla is my wife.
22:51And if something comes between your daughter and me, it's our affair.
22:54That's final.
22:55You see, I run an empire of textiles, an assembly company, a chain of car washes,
22:59the largest cannery here in the east, and the largest grossing cracker factory, so I can
23:04handle the relationship between my wife and myself.
23:07Is that clear?
23:12Do I have to go now?
23:13Yes.
23:14It's regarding the disturbance at the fabric factory.
23:17We got a complaint from that guy, Amaya.
23:20Uh, he filed against you.
23:22It's just routine.
23:24Probably just a simple investigation.
23:26Nothing to worry about.
23:29But the sooner we get down to the station, the sooner we can find out exactly what's going
23:34on.
23:35You suppose we can do this later?
23:36I should stay if possible.
23:39But I'm afraid you have to come right now, miss.
23:41You see, you have no choice in the matter.
23:43If you're worried about your mother, just leave her a note explaining where you are.
23:47Hi, Gabrielle.
23:48I came in to find out what's going on.
23:50Nothing, Huey.
23:51Officer, how long will this take?
23:52Well, to tell you the truth, I don't know.
23:54Hopefully it won't be very long.
23:57Now, we really should get going.
23:59My good friend here, Huey, can tell your mother where you went.
24:02What if I don't go?
24:03I don't think that's a good idea.
24:06That could cause me a big problem.
24:08If you don't comply, then I'll have to arrest you.
24:14Ah, there's nothing to worry about.
24:16It's just routine police business.
24:17You'll be in and out in no time.
24:19But if I arrest you, then you'd have a record.
24:21And what for?
24:22The whole thing will be avoided if we leave now.
24:24Look, I've done nothing that I feel ashamed about.
24:26I believe you, but you still have to make a statement.
24:29That's the law.
24:30So you get ready, and I'll wait for you.
24:32Don't do me any favors.
24:33I'm not getting ready.
24:34I don't feel like it.
24:34Hey, okay, I'm just trying to be nice.
24:36I don't care.
24:37This entire thing's absurd.
24:38Calm down, miss.
24:39Yeah, yeah, yeah.
24:40I know all about it.
24:41You're only following orders.
24:43Well, I hate men who just follow orders.
24:50Huey, come here.
24:51I want you to do me a favor.
24:55When my mom comes back, tell my mom that the police came and took me away.
25:00Tell her nothing's going to happen and everything's going to be all right.
25:03Be sure you tell her it's nothing bad, okay?
25:06Tell her not to worry.
25:08Can you remember that?
25:09Yes.
25:09See you later.
25:11Let's go.
25:13After you.
25:39Ah, it sure is good to be home.
25:42Do you feel as exhausted as I do?
25:44I could sleep for a week.
25:46I'm totaled.
25:48I'm going to spend the day doing nothing.
25:51Maybe you'd like to stay?
25:53No, thanks.
25:55Actually, I should shove off.
25:58I'll see you later.
25:59Andrew?
26:01Andrew?
26:01Yeah.
26:05What do you feel for me?
26:12Only unrequited love.
26:15But why unrequited?
26:19How can you say that?
26:23Because it's really very tough to say.
26:26See, Amanda, you're just too expensive for me.
26:40What do I do now?
26:45I'm not prepared to be on my own.
26:51You know what's happened.
26:56I'm really frightened.
26:58I had a glamorous life, but...
27:02It's no more.
27:05And I'm alone.
27:08Panicking.
27:11Panicking because I'm scared.
27:15Even I realized.
27:19That my entire life is credit cards.
27:23And being under contract to De La Renta.
27:29There's nothing left anymore.
27:33And I'm not prepared to do any other work or take any job.
27:43Come on, now.
27:46I have faith in you.
27:49It'll be all right.
27:50Andrew.
27:55Tony can't find out what happened in the airplane, can he?
28:00Probably not.
28:05But I'm really happy that it happened.
28:08Aren't you?
28:13Amanda.
28:16No man likes to be the second choice.
28:22A part of me is actually glad.
28:27And part of me wishes it didn't happen.
28:36I'll see you, Amanda.
28:41I'll see you, Andrew.
29:06Hi.
29:07Hi, Mom.
29:08How are you?
29:09All right.
29:10Where'd you go?
29:12I was out buying some pants for your brother.
29:14This morning he called me from boarding school and said his were all full of holes.
29:18I should have told him that's the fashion now.
29:21So where's Gabrielle?
29:22I don't know.
29:23I just got here.
29:25Oh, these are neat.
29:29Pretty, huh?
29:30Mm-hmm.
29:36Shouldn't Gabrielle be home by now?
29:39I promise.
29:40She's out with Nellie.
29:41These are really nice.
29:43Well, sure.
29:44Of course they are.
29:46Who's this for?
29:48Ah, well, just some fabric for your sister.
29:52You bought me nothing?
29:54Ah.
29:55You have clothes.
29:57But they're so ordinary.
29:59Ah, well.
30:00I didn't realize your highness needed fancy schmancy clothes.
30:04Maybe.
30:06Somebody could ask me on a date, you know, or to a party.
30:10Ah.
30:12And what party are you going to?
30:14Mm-hmm.
30:16Quite possibly.
30:18There's some boy who's asking you out.
30:20Mm-hmm.
30:21All right.
30:21Out with it.
30:23I intend to know what his name is.
30:24It's no one, Mom.
30:25Well, that's certainly good news.
30:27Because it had put your mother away.
30:30You make it sound wrong.
30:31No, nothing's wrong with it.
30:34But there are more important things.
30:36Presently, school is one.
30:38Look what's happening to your sister.
30:40You really wouldn't want something like that to interfere.
30:43Lucille, are you there?
30:45I'm coming.
30:45Ah, calm down.
30:48Okay, now.
30:49Oh, Lucille.
30:50What's the matter?
30:50Oh, Gabby, I was arrested.
30:54Bye.
30:57How long will this take?
30:58It's not up to me, Miss Winston.
31:02I don't see the point, really.
31:04Perhaps I can talk to someone in authority.
31:06A captain or someone in charge.
31:09Is it true or not that you threatened Mr. Amaya with scissors?
31:14Maybe you should ask Mr. Amaya who first threatened who.
31:17Perhaps he'll tell you the awful things he said.
31:20Like the horrible things he called my mother.
31:24I mean, it was my mother.
31:26Wouldn't you help your mother, huh?
31:31All I want to know is if you threatened Mr. Amaya with scissors.
31:34That's just because I didn't have an Uzi.
31:37Because if I could have got my hands on an Uzi, you'd be arresting me for threatening him with that.
31:42You want me to put that down?
31:44What?
31:45I will if you want.
31:47But if I write that down on this report, they'll put you right into jail.
31:51The accused threatened Mr. Amaya with scissors because she didn't have an Uzi.
31:55But she stated that if she'd had an Uzi at the factory, she would have used it.
31:58And that's the truth.
31:59Fine, I'll put it down.
32:00You want to go to jail?
32:01No problem.
32:02It's in the report.
32:05Uh, I didn't mean it.
32:06Don't put it down.
32:07Good morning.
32:08Good morning, Commander.
32:10When are you going to be done with her?
32:12Pretty soon.
32:17Why is she here?
32:20Who are you, huh?
32:21For your information, my name is Gabrielle Swanson, button head.
32:27Routine questioning, Commander.
32:28When you're finished, come and see me.
32:30All right?
32:32And I want you to lower your voice.
32:35I'm the only one who can raise his voice around here, not you.
32:41What's she here for?
32:43Problem in a clothing factory.
32:45Theft?
32:45No.
32:46Aggravated assault.
32:48We had a complaint.
32:50We charged aggravated assault.
32:52Figures.
32:53Ah.
32:55Scissors.
32:57Could be attempted murder.
33:01Let me tell you something, young lady.
33:03You've got a problem.
33:05You should lower your tone.
33:07And watch your step.
33:10Because this is a very serious allegation.
33:13Understand?
33:17I'll see you later in my office.
33:27When did they take her?
33:28They left about an hour ago.
33:30Oh, my lord.
33:30Mama, that's what Mr. Benderson said.
33:32They take her to make a statement.
33:33No, no.
33:34There's no way that's what he said.
33:36Benderson said there was something they had to clear up, and the police would call, but they
33:40wouldn't come here.
33:41Not come and haul her away like some common criminal.
33:43I don't think so, Mama.
33:44How can you say that?
33:45They took her.
33:47Can't they find real crooks to arrest?
33:49What should I do, huh, Brenda?
33:51As soon as I get out of one thing, it's another thing.
33:54Well, we should go there.
33:56Wait.
33:56Oh, wait.
33:57Just a minute.
33:58My client, Margaret.
33:59Why are you calling Margaret?
34:00Ah, cause she said if I need help, call her.
34:03And her husband.
34:05He's a banker, and they can help us.
34:09Dial.
34:10I can't see.
34:10Go.
34:13Why do you dial so slow, huh?
34:14I don't.
34:19Hello.
34:20Uh, please, let me speak to Miss Prescott.
34:23Mm-hmm.
34:24Not there.
34:25Could you tell me where she is?
34:28Oh, you don't know.
34:29Could you ask?
34:33She's at Tony Clemente's.
34:35Ah.
34:36Ma'am, oh, please, it's important that I talk to Miss Prescott.
34:40Please give me the number at Mr. Clemente's.
34:42It's urgent that I speak with her.
34:56Uh, Gabrielle Swanson?
34:58Yes, sir?
35:00I'm really very sorry, but there have been some complications.
35:04Huh?
35:04You're going to have to remain here.
35:11Oh, we had a great dinner that night.
35:12Pardon me, ma'am.
35:13What was the name of that restaurant?
35:14I don't call.
35:15My husband?
35:15No, ma'am.
35:16It's the seamstress.
35:18The seamstress?
35:19She said it was urgent.
35:20It sounds to me like she has a big problem.
35:23Ah.
35:29Pardon me.
35:30Yes, of course.
35:31Hi, Lucille.
35:32What is it?
35:34You poor thing.
35:38Yes, certainly, Lucille.
35:41I'll go straight home.
35:42I'll discuss it with my husband and see what can be done.
35:45Of course I will.
35:46Don't worry, Lucille.
35:48Call me from wherever you are.
35:50What?
35:51Then call.
35:53Try me in an hour.
35:54Yes, we'll find a way.
35:58I'll wait for your call.
36:01What happened, Margaret?
36:03Oh, what a mess.
36:05What?
36:06The police just arrested Lucille's daughter.
36:08Who's that?
36:09I told you.
36:10The girl who accidentally soaked Tony at the car wash.
36:13Remember?
36:13Gabrielle Swanson.
36:15Now relax.
36:16Don't look like that.
36:17She's not a delinquent.
36:18It's just some sort of error.
36:20I'm going to have to leave.
36:22My apologies.
36:23But her mother has asked that I help her out.
36:25Well, I hope there's something you can do.
36:27I'll do what I can.
36:28I need to get back to my house.
36:30My husband can make a few calls and straighten this out.
36:33Tony, perhaps your maid could get me a taxi.
36:37See, my chauffeur wasn't planning on coming here for another hour.
36:40But there's no reason to call a cab.
36:41No, I'll be glad to take you.
36:42Oh, I couldn't put you out like that.
36:44No, no, it's no trouble at all.
36:45I'll take you right now.
36:46Come on.
36:47Maybe she prefers a cab.
36:48No, it's not necessary.
36:49I'll be right back.
36:50You're certain you don't mind going?
36:51Of course.
36:53I just got my car back from the garage the other day.
36:55My driver's been driving it, but I want to see how it handles.
36:57All right.
36:58Well, thanks for everything, Layla.
36:59Bye, Margaret.
37:00I'll call you later.
37:02I'm glad you liked the perfume.
37:03It's delightful.
37:03Come on, Margaret.
37:04We should get going.
37:05I'll be right back.
37:06You want me to go with you?
37:07No, no, no.
37:08You stay here and relax.
37:09See you later.
37:09Okay.
37:10Welcome, Hope.
37:11Call me tomorrow.
37:12It's good to see you.
37:12Well, pray everything turns out all right.
37:15Oh, my goodness.
37:16I forgot the perfume in the loom.
37:17No, don't worry about the perfume.
37:19We'll take it.
37:19Oh, that's a good idea.
37:20All right.
37:21You don't have to worry.
37:22I'll give it to your chauffeur, okay?
37:23Okay.
37:24Thanks again.
37:25No, our pleasure.
37:26Come on, Margaret.
37:27Let's go.
37:29All right, Tony.
37:29This is so nice of you.
37:35Benderson said the only one to call is Amaya, the factory owner,
37:38because he filed the complaint.
37:39Oh, that jerk.
37:41Lucille, do you want us to call a cab phone?
37:42No, don't call anybody.
37:43We'll catch a cab at the corner.
37:44Come on.
37:45We've got to get going.
37:46Got your ID.
37:47Yes, Mother.
37:47Then let's go.
37:48Hi.
37:49What's the right?
37:50Oh, what a mess.
37:51They took every elevator to the police.
37:53Are you serious?
37:54We had a problem last night.
37:55We just found out.
37:56I'm on my way over.
37:57Well, let me drive you over there.
37:59Come on.
37:59You've got to be great.
38:00Don't be silly.
38:01I'm glad to do it.
38:05How long do I have to stay here?
38:07Well, it could be an hour or longer.
38:10Can you tell me how long?
38:12All right.
38:13Don't get excited.
38:13You're just making it more difficult for yourself.
38:15Yeah, that would be awful, huh?
38:16You don't care.
38:17Someone's got to pay for this entire thing.
38:18That's it.
38:19Calm down.
38:20Screaming will solve nothing.
38:21Tomorrow, we can find out exactly what happened.
38:27Could I use your telephone?
38:29I want to call my mother.
38:32To be our guest.
38:37Here.
38:38I've got an outside line for you.
38:56Too bad your husband's not home.
38:58He shouldn't be long.
39:00He has a friend at the police station.
39:02I'm afraid I don't remember what his name is anymore.
39:05You know, I also have a friend there.
39:07No, no, no.
39:08This isn't your problem.
39:09No, it's no bother.
39:11On the contrary.
39:12After all, she was an employee of mine.
39:15I've got to stand behind my people.
39:17She's a lucky girl to have someone like you help her.
39:20Yeah.
39:24Margaret, allow me to handle this.
39:27I'll see what needs to be done,
39:28and I'll take care of her.
39:30Mm-hmm.
39:32Bravo.
39:32I'm sure Lucille will be grateful for anything you can do.
39:35Right.
39:48Hello.
39:50Uh, please connect me to the captain's office.
39:54Tony Clemente.
39:56I need to talk to him about a problem, okay?
39:58Regarding a girl you have down there, an employee.
40:01Her name is, uh...
40:04Gabrielle Swanson.
40:05Uh, Gabrielle Swanson.
40:07Yes.
40:25I need to talk to him about a problem, okay?
40:26I need to talk to him about a problem, okay?
40:26I need to talk to him about a problem, okay?
40:27I need to talk to him about a problem, okay?
40:27I need to talk to him about a problem, okay?
40:27You
