Gabriela, a theater student and cheerleader for a basketball team begins a job at a carwash in order to help out her family - her father has just died and she is the eldest of her siblings. The carwash is owned by a famous businessman, Tony Clemente, who will meet Gabriela and have a short but passionate affair with her. Gabriela, however, is falsely accused of drug trafficking and ends up in jail, with a 15-year sentence. Tony abandons her due to her bad luck, choosing to ignore the fact that she is expecting his child. In jail, Gabriela plots her escape, something she pulls off after having served seven years behind bars. Only one objective drives her existence: revenge against the man who ruined her life, Tony Clemente. To achieve her purpose, she changes her name and her physical appearance and manages to reintroduce herself into the life of Tony, making him fall in love with her all over again.

00:11Gabrielle!
00:12It's all right.
00:13Gabrielle!
00:13Oh, no, I...
00:14I've done anything.
00:15Where are you taking her?
00:18Gabrielle!
00:19No!
00:20Leave her alone!
00:24The way I see it, you're guilty.
00:29Only you are guilty.
00:35Perhaps I can make this clearer for you.
00:37If you don't cooperate, you could spend 20 years in prison.
00:41And I guarantee it's not as nice as it sounds.
00:46I won't cite it.
00:52I know that Andrew and I are innocent.
00:56I know what you're trying to do, Commander.
01:00And so does my family.
01:04Gabrielle.
01:06Mama.
01:07Oh, sweetheart.
01:08Oh, ma.
01:09Sweetheart.
01:11It's so good to see you.
01:14Oh, Gabrielle.
01:16You knew they'd take me, didn't you?
01:18Yes, sweetie, we knew.
01:19But let me explain something.
01:21When you were going through your recuperation, I didn't know what to tell you.
01:24How could I say you'd end up in a cell?
01:27And it's a big mistake.
01:28Eventually, the truth will come out and this will end.
01:31Your sister and I are trying to think of anyone who might help.
01:35And we are calling lawyers that we...
01:37I'm even trying to get the judge on the case to talk to me.
01:40You ladies will have to go.
01:41Ah.
01:42Julia.
01:43Oh, Mom.
01:45Mom, I just have to say it to you.
01:47Oh, my word.
01:48I didn't do it.
01:48You don't even have to say that.
01:51Uh, Julia.
01:54Go find Tony Clemente.
01:56That's what I need you to do.
01:58But you have to look for him discreetly.
02:00Tell him where I am and everything that's happened.
02:02Look for him because he may be the only one who can help me.
02:05Ma'am, I asked you before.
02:06You'll have to go.
02:07Yeah, yeah.
02:08Did you eat something?
02:09Yeah, Mom, I'm fine.
02:11And you don't have to worry.
02:12I'll stay well.
02:13All right.
02:13How is Andrew doing?
02:15He's definitely improving.
02:16Don't tell anyone that all this happened.
02:18No, no.
02:19And, sweetie, you have to know that we're always here for you.
02:22And when they let us in, we'll see you, huh?
02:27You're always here.
02:29I know.
02:34I know.
02:35Goodbye, baby.
02:37Let's go, ma'am.
02:38Yes.
02:39See you soon.
03:03Mr. Mandela, if you have a moment...
03:05Come on in, Commander.
03:06Thank you for seeing me.
03:08So, what's on your mind?
03:10I'm working on a case, and I came up with some things that I needed to know, and those
03:14questions have led me to you.
03:15Chas.
03:16Well, I've received a telex from Miami.
03:19It informs me that there are suspicions regarding a ship that is sailing with the fleet from
03:23Clementi Enterprises.
03:25Do you have a record of the fleet?
03:27Sure.
03:28The itinerary's right here.
03:29Um, we do have a fleet out, and you, routine.
03:33Yes.
03:34Yeah, the trip is routine, but this ship is very special.
03:40I know that it's carrying fish flour that is used to feed your animals.
03:44But there's something else inside, in the flour that's contraband.
03:49Now do you understand?
03:52Yes.
03:54But I don't know what it has to do with us.
03:57Frequently, we have been known to import some food for our animals that are part of
04:01Clementi Industries in the Orient, although that ship isn't one of ours, and we want you
04:07to know we take no responsibility for what comes in on it.
04:10No, no.
04:12Assuming that is correct, and I don't doubt it.
04:15But I am interested in finding out who was the individual who signed for you.
04:19Some representative must have okayed that shipment for Clementi Enterprises.
04:24Hmm, that I couldn't say.
04:26Another department handles those papers for me, Commander.
04:29Well, would you be so kind to, say, to have your secretaries look through the contracts
04:33for a minute, find the one worth discussing, or not?
04:37It's done.
04:40Nora, I need you.
04:41Come here.
04:44The document was signed in Lima.
04:48And did I tell you, the person who signed was Andrew Payne, a former pilot for your corporation.
04:56And I want to know, what is the significance?
05:08I've been fighting so hard for the past month.
05:10I'm at the end of my row.
05:11Well, you should have just picked up the phone and called me, Lucille.
05:15Well, why would I even think of calling you?
05:17And if it weren't for the day that I saw you when the Commander was here, who knows when
05:21our paths would have crossed.
05:22And you and I, Benderson, you know what I am saying.
05:26You and I have done nothing but argue.
05:29But Mama, Mr. Benderson has helped us a lot.
05:31Oh, we have thanked him for that, Julia.
05:34I said, thank you.
05:36But what we're going through now, Benderson, it's so serious, so awful.
05:42I just don't know if there's any way you could possibly...
05:44And you have no confidence in me.
05:46Listen, Benderson...
05:47No confidence in me.
05:49And you want to know something?
05:51It's right that you have no confidence in me.
05:53Because I'm a very bad lawyer.
05:55Oh, Mr. Benderson, don't say that.
05:57Oh, but that's the fact.
05:59The fact is, I'm a very bad lawyer.
06:02You know, I had an average that was very low in college.
06:06I had one of the lowest averages at the university.
06:10Mm-hmm.
06:10But, you know, maybe I should tell you something else.
06:15I threw my life away so many years ago.
06:19I threw my life away as a lawyer.
06:22Like I was worth nothing.
06:24Because of the hurt that words can do.
06:26I still hear the boys I graduated with.
06:29They'd see me and say, there goes the guy with the empty head.
06:32It's true.
06:33And they'd see me on the street and say, there goes Benderson.
06:36That one is the worst lawyer I've ever seen.
06:40He can't even win one lousy lawsuit.
06:43That's me, all right.
06:45Benderson the mediocre.
06:46The only lawyer left in the world who doesn't have a home.
06:50You see?
06:51You know why all this happened, Lucille?
06:53When I was a young student, I married a woman who didn't even know me.
06:59And it was a disaster.
07:01My whole life has been a disaster.
07:05Year after year of hell.
07:07And it started when I was a kid.
07:10I was a very bad student.
07:13And all my professors, each one of them highly regarded for work in his field.
07:19They decided to let me become a lawyer.
07:22Yes?
07:22I graduated.
07:24But it was like they said.
07:26Well, Mr. Benderson, we will grant you your diploma.
07:30But we don't expect you to do much with it.
07:33Oh, come on now.
07:34I don't believe that.
07:36I'm sorry.
07:37Enough of me.
07:39I came to talk about your family.
07:42You have a wonderful family.
07:44You know, I'm very fond of that Gabrielle.
07:47She's a beauty she is.
07:49Mixed up.
07:50And a little crazy.
07:52A talent.
07:53A talent.
07:54With spirit.
07:56And a strong mind.
07:59A special breed.
08:01She made an impression on me.
08:03And I'll tell you why I liked her, Gabrielle.
08:06Because of what she did for you in that factory.
08:09The way she protected her mother.
08:11Yes.
08:12She was so brave for you.
08:14And it touched me.
08:16Now let me explain something.
08:18You know I'm an abominable excuse for an attorney.
08:21They don't come worse than me.
08:23It's the truth.
08:24And I openly admit it to you.
08:26But I want to help your daughter get out of this thing.
08:28You know I care about what happens to you and your family.
08:31You know I can't promise you a miracle.
08:34No.
08:35You can believe that I will work very hard for you, Lucille.
08:38Yes.
08:39I'll work hard.
08:40I will, uh, I will, uh, I will prepare.
08:44You won't believe the kind of time that I'll put into this.
08:47I'm going to study.
08:48And help you.
08:49Because it's time that I did something of real value.
08:53But also I will help you because I want to.
08:57Don't you see?
08:58Well, how much will we pay?
09:01Hathing, I don't want you to pay me.
09:05I will be happy with a thank you.
09:07A thank you and nothing else.
09:11Well, perhaps if, if you'd like to provide a room for me in my house, I would be a real
09:17convenience being somewhere warm like this wonderful house with you.
09:22And, one other consideration, I might be able to hear myself think here.
09:30You know I can't speak for my mother.
09:34But you know my answer.
09:35Thank you so much, sweetie, for that.
09:40Well, as of now, you are Gabrielle's attorney.
09:45You know, it's great you want to help us.
09:48I do.
09:49And I will.
09:51You can count on it, Lucille.
09:55Yes, it is true, Commander.
09:57Now that I see the document, I do recall it being signed by Andrew Payne.
10:02But under the circumstances, that really isn't so surprising.
10:06It was at that time when Andrew was flying for Mr. Clemente.
10:10And he flew Tony to South America to sign this contract.
10:13But then suddenly Tony was called back for something urgent.
10:17He flew back on a commercial airliner.
10:20And he left all of the legal papers for Andrew to take care of.
10:24But that's not so odd.
10:25As a matter of fact, it's a common practice used by large companies when completing a commercial transaction.
10:31Yes, and I'm not about to deny that that's true.
10:34I'm assuming it's so.
10:36And let me assure you, no one is doubting Mr. Clemente.
10:40I'll explain.
10:42I believe that when Andrew Payne stayed behind to sign the contract which was agreed upon by Mr. Clemente,
10:49that's when your loyal pilot, Andrew, loaded that one shipment with the contraband.
10:55And we'll know that for certain when the boat pulls into harbor.
10:59What we do know for certain is there is a connection between Mr. Andrew Payne and a woman named Gabrielle
11:05Swanson.
11:07Either they are accomplices or she was being used by Mr. Payne.
11:15Gabrielle Swanson, you said?
11:19That's right.
11:20You know her?
11:24Sure.
11:24You don't have to worry about divulging damaging information.
11:28You know, we already know very well that there was something going on between those two.
11:32In fact, we have an amazing letter in our possession that was written by Miss Swanson to Tony Clemente.
11:43Commander, I only ask that you use the utmost discretion regarding this obviously delicate information.
11:50Sure.
11:51We try always to use discretion.
11:53And we're not out to hurt anyone.
11:55What I think is they had a plan.
11:58And to make this plan go,
12:00it required that Miss Gabrielle Swanson get close to Mr. Clemente.
12:06That was a plan.
12:07A plan finally calculated.
12:11This is all very surprising to me.
12:16But really, when you throw into the mix
12:1910 or 15 million dollars,
12:22there's nothing some people won't do,
12:25including Miss Gabrielle Swanson.
12:39I came here to talk to you, Gabrielle.
12:45There's not a thing I want to say,
12:48policeman.
12:51You're making a big mistake.
12:53Rick, look, look at my wrists.
12:58They were in cuffs this morning.
13:00And now I'm locked in a room, a prisoner,
13:02because you locked me in here,
13:03because you are my enemy.
13:05An enemy who must feel nothing.
13:08An enemy who entered my house to wreck my life.
13:11And to dig for lies.
13:16It's all right.
13:18It's all right.
13:21You can lock me away.
13:24But I still know the truth.
13:26And I think,
13:28and I'm not saying right away,
13:30I think, I think,
13:32that someday,
13:33someone will hear.
13:36And this hell will end.
13:39And on that day,
13:41you're going to be sorry,
13:43and you're going to regret it.
13:44Hey, I've got an idea.
13:46I can prove myself and then sue you.
13:48You and your boss.
13:51Commander Furman.
13:53Buttonhead.
13:55That poor man's just a coward.
13:58Oh, did you hear that?
13:59I said he was at least a coward.
14:02He's a coward.
14:03Yeah.
14:05And you?
14:08You are nothing.
14:09Don't say that!
14:09Make me!
14:11Torture me!
14:13Do whatever you want to.
14:19You see your death,
14:20and you can take most anything.
14:22You know,
14:23I came out of that hospital
14:24with a whole new outlook.
14:25I almost died, David, you see?
14:28I almost died
14:29from a wound so awful.
14:31The doctor said it would be a miracle
14:33if I were ever to see another tomorrow.
14:35You can't scare me more than that.
14:45Are you going to let me talk before I go?
14:52No.
14:55Don't tell me.
14:57Don't repeat all your lies to me
14:59and warn me how I am in trouble.
15:03Don't tell me the lies again.
15:10Because your lies won't keep me inside this hell.
15:13I know this will end.
15:16I...
15:17I just know it will.
15:21Because I did nothing bad.
15:24Because Andrew did nothing bad,
15:26and I know this because he's like my own.
15:29He's just like a brother, you know.
15:33Andrew was like a son to my dad,
15:34and my father was one in a million.
15:38There was never anyone
15:39as ethical and devoted to his family.
15:43He loved Andrew,
15:45and he treated him just like a son
15:47he might have given life to.
15:48And he taught us all
15:50what is right and what's true.
15:52And nothing that anyone would say
15:54can ever change it.
15:56Not you,
15:57who can't even recognize innocence,
16:00and not your commander.
16:03Gabrielle,
16:06I don't know what to think.
16:08Oh, you mean about my savings account?
16:10And all the cash I own?
16:12Two hundred thousand dollars?
16:13Come on, you've seen my clothes.
16:15You've been to our house.
16:16They cut off our phone.
16:17And you've seen the clunker I drive.
16:19Haven't you?
16:20It was a gift from my dad.
16:21It was the first and only car I've ever owned.
16:23I assure you.
16:26Tell me then.
16:29Where's this great stash of money I have?
16:31Where, huh?
16:32Where?
16:33I can get a little bit of money
16:36from each show,
16:38showing my legs off to people.
16:40And I do it because my family is struggling
16:41and needs the cash.
16:44Show me where I hid this so-called treasure.
16:46Where is it?
16:47Where is it?
16:49Get out.
16:51Get out of here.
16:54Gabrielle, please.
16:55I don't know what to think of you.
16:58Whether you're really a thief
17:00or you're innocent.
17:02Just go away.
17:05If you can think that of me.
17:08Why are you here?
17:10Why are you here?
17:11Beat it.
17:12Gabrielle.
17:14You're not confused?
17:15No, you made your choice.
17:17But let me show you a real crime, huh?
17:21See this?
17:23This is what real criminals do.
17:26Now you take your doubt
17:27and your confusion
17:29and get out.
17:30Please leave.
17:36And what about Tony?
17:40Hmm?
17:43Are you still so entranced by your hero,
17:45the great Clemente?
17:47I'm even more
17:51entranced more.
17:52Because Tony is
17:54the greatest thing.
17:57The most important person I will ever meet
17:59and the greatest love I'll ever know.
18:04The one true love.
18:06The purest love.
18:08Now I want you to go.
18:09Leave!
18:10Get out.
18:13Get out!
18:34Yes, Maurice.
18:35What is it?
18:36There's a lady at the door
18:38who's asked to talk with you.
18:39With me?
18:40Well, she asked for Mr. Clemente,
18:42but I told her to come in.
18:45Please.
18:45It's all right.
18:46Well, thank you.
18:48Please, I hope you can excuse
18:50the rude intrusion.
18:51But I'd like to explain something.
19:01Do you know Mr. Clemente?
19:06Are you the woman
19:07I spoke to on the phone?
19:09Ah.
19:11You're the woman
19:12whose daughter had all the trouble.
19:14Yes, that's right.
19:15Ah.
19:17Well, Martin,
19:18I believe,
19:19went to see her.
19:21Yes, I spoke to him
19:22for a little while
19:23when he came to the hospital.
19:25But, well...
19:26Well, then you must be
19:28Mrs. Martin Clemente.
19:30No, no.
19:31But I raised Tony's wife.
19:34Ah, I see.
19:35But I know Tony
19:37like he's my own, too.
19:39Oh.
19:39Ah, you poor woman.
19:41You were in so much pain
19:42when you called.
19:44Mm.
19:45Well,
19:46but that problem's over,
19:48we thank God.
19:49I found out, you know,
19:52that Mr. Clemente
19:54has made arrangements
19:55to take care of the hospital,
19:57and I want to thank you
19:59very much.
20:00Well, since it just so happens
20:02Tony and Layla
20:03are out of town,
20:05Martin was the one
20:05to decide,
20:06and I'm sure
20:07that Tony would agree.
20:10Well.
20:12Tell Mr. Clemente, uh,
20:15that I'd like to talk
20:16to him about the bill.
20:18Ah.
20:19Listen, listen.
20:20You don't need
20:21to be so formal.
20:22No, no, no, no, no.
20:23At least you don't with me.
20:24I'm just like you.
20:26Really, I am.
20:27See, I was raised poor,
20:29south of the tracks.
20:32Please don't let the clothes
20:33you see me in fool you.
20:34No.
20:34These things are given to me.
20:36They're gifts from my Layla.
20:38She's a wonderful daughter.
20:39And don't be intimidated
20:41by this big atrocity.
20:42I'm just like you.
20:44Believe me.
20:46Ah.
20:50What's your name?
20:51Oh, Colette.
20:52Its origin is Greek,
20:54and it means that I win
20:55in a battle.
20:58Colette.
20:59Uh-huh.
21:02Well, Colette,
21:05I feel that I can talk
21:07straight to you.
21:09But I think you're going
21:10to be very disappointed
21:11when you hear about my daughter.
21:13Your daughter is still bad?
21:18My daughter is in jail.
21:21Oh.
21:22She's accused
21:23of the worst.
21:26Only I know.
21:28She is innocent.
21:29Of course,
21:30I have no proof.
21:31But I know
21:32she is innocent.
21:35You know,
21:37don't think I'm telling you this
21:38because I expect you
21:39to believe a woman
21:40who you've never met
21:41before today.
21:42You know,
21:44I'm telling you
21:46because I need very much
21:47for you to help me.
21:48Yes?
21:49You see,
21:50I have to talk
21:51to Mr. Clemente.
21:55Gabrielle
21:55was employed
21:56at the car wash
21:57owned by Tony.
21:59All I know
22:02is that the two,
22:06well,
22:06that he became
22:07a good friend.
22:09You see,
22:09that is why
22:10I need to talk
22:11to Mr. Clemente.
22:13We couldn't even afford
22:14to hire a good lawyer.
22:17Believe me,
22:17he is bad.
22:19Worse than that.
22:21Oh, my.
22:22He's a decent person
22:24and probably
22:25the worst attorney
22:26in the world.
22:27Oh.
22:27So,
22:28I thought perhaps
22:29if I could have a chance
22:30to speak to Mr. Clemente,
22:32he could maybe
22:32help me some way.
22:34But what is your daughter
22:35accused of?
22:36Oh,
22:37I don't know,
22:38Colette.
22:38It's some fancy-sounding word.
22:41Something about an auto.
22:43Oh,
22:44something about the trap.
22:47Conspiracy to trap.
22:47I think that's it.
22:50But what it means
22:50is they can give her
22:5115 to 20 years
22:53in prison.
22:55Colette,
22:56I know that my daughter
22:57is innocent.
23:00Tell me your name.
23:04Lucille.
23:05I don't fight battles.
23:11Lucille,
23:13what happened
23:14between Tony
23:14and Gabrielle?
23:19An error,
23:21Colette.
23:22One that I prefer
23:23not to clarify.
23:28Lucille,
23:30Tony is a man.
23:32And I know
23:33what bastards
23:33some men truly are.
23:36So I will talk to Tony
23:38and I will convince him
23:39that he has to do
23:40something about Gabrielle.
23:42And you can count on me.
23:46And that's it.
23:48That's all that happened.
23:52You know,
23:53I remember meeting
23:53Gabrielle once
23:54at Tony's apartment.
23:56I remember very well.
23:59I'm sorry
24:00this has all happened.
24:02We are too.
24:04My sister
24:04is counting on me
24:05to bring her information
24:06regarding Mr. Clemente.
24:08Can you tell me
24:09when he's due?
24:11No one knows
24:12for sure.
24:13Could be soon.
24:15But your sister's
24:16trouble is
24:17definitely serious.
24:20I don't know.
24:21I have so little information.
24:23Can you just tell me
24:25what you know?
24:32This morning
24:33I was paid a visit
24:34by the police.
24:37And they told me
24:38what their charges
24:38will be.
24:40And they accuse
24:41Andrew and Gabrielle.
24:42But none of these
24:43things are true.
24:44True or not.
24:46That's for the judge
24:47to decide.
24:49Still,
24:50I could try
24:51to find Tony.
24:53Of course,
24:54I can't promise
24:55that I will find him.
24:56You know,
24:58but I do think
24:59he should return home
25:00right away.
25:01So I'll try.
25:10Gabrielle Swanson?
25:13Yeah?
25:15I represent the offices
25:16of Tony Clemente.
25:20Hello, Tony.
25:23Look,
25:24are you alone?
25:25Perfect.
25:28Listen.
25:30There's a problem
25:31with the corporation.
25:33This problem
25:34is very,
25:34very serious.
25:36And as a friend
25:37and associate both,
25:38I want you to hear me.
25:39I suggest you get
25:40back here immediately.
25:43No, no, no, no, no, no.
25:44I only want to discuss it
25:45in person.
25:47Yes, Tony,
25:48it is that urgent.
25:49And I wouldn't call you
25:50unless it were.
25:53Amanda?
25:53I haven't even thought
25:54of Amanda recently.
25:56If you have to push me on it,
25:57the problem is about
25:58your ex-pilot,
25:59Andrew.
26:01And Gabrielle Swanson.
26:03This is the problem.
26:07And when should I expect you?
26:11Tomorrow?
26:13Tomorrow.
26:17All right.
26:18I'll be at the airport
26:19to get you then.
26:28What's the matter, David?
26:31Nothing's the matter, Mom.
26:33You seem so sad.
26:36Well,
26:38it's nothing really, Mother.
26:40It's just a mood.
26:42Is it something at work?
26:44Yeah,
26:45more or less.
26:50David?
26:51Hmm?
26:54I feel good.
26:57No, that's great.
26:59It's great.
27:02David.
27:02David,
27:03I've been feeling
27:04a little easier
27:05about talking to the doctors
27:06here lately,
27:07and it helped me
27:08to feel more whole.
27:09The important thing
27:10is you feel well,
27:11hmm?
27:12And you smile.
27:15Now, you said
27:16there's something
27:16you wanted to talk
27:17to me about.
27:18Uh-huh.
27:19Well?
27:21I want to get out.
27:22I want to go to our house.
27:24I can't help you in here.
27:25Oh, Mom,
27:26remember,
27:27the only important thing
27:28is that you're feeling well.
27:29Hmm?
27:30Mm-hmm.
27:32David,
27:33remember when you
27:34talked to me
27:34about this girl
27:35and you mentioned
27:36some confusion?
27:37Mother,
27:37I'd rather not talk
27:38about that, okay?
27:39But I want to talk
27:40about that.
27:41I want to talk
27:41about everything
27:42or else I sit here
27:43and feel useless.
27:44But it's all over, Ma.
27:45There's nothing there.
27:47Just listen to me.
27:49That woman you know,
27:51you...
27:52you said she was
27:53in love with someone,
27:55very powerful
27:56and rich.
27:58It's not important anymore.
28:00But it is important.
28:02No, Mother,
28:03it is not important.
28:04It is important.
28:06That girl is a danger
28:07and so is that man.
28:10You have to listen to me.
28:12David,
28:15you and I are alone.
28:17We've always lived alone.
28:19Leave it like that.
28:21But, Ma,
28:24who is Tony Clemente
28:26to you?
28:33No one.
28:36He's a man
28:37with a lot of money.
28:39That's all.
28:40Are you sure, Ma?
28:43Are you sure that the name
28:44was never anything
28:45more than that?
28:48No.
28:48No.
28:49No, son.
28:53No, I...
29:18There's no change.
29:20There's really no point
29:21in keeping him here.
29:23His vital signs are strong,
29:25his heart and his lungs,
29:27but unfortunately,
29:28the damage to his brain
29:30is irreparable.
29:31Well, then,
29:32what do you think
29:32we should do, Doctor?
29:34There's no sense
29:35in keeping him here
29:36if there's nothing
29:37we can do
29:37and at such great cost
29:39to the family.
29:40They didn't strike me
29:41as being especially well off.
29:43I think I should speak
29:45to his mother
29:45and maybe consult
29:47with his sister.
29:48But there's really no reason
29:50to keep him here anymore.
30:03I brought you coffee.
30:09Gabrielle,
30:10you really should eat something.
30:13Keep your strength.
30:14Get out, policeman,
30:15and keep your coffee.
30:16Come on, Miss Swanson.
30:17I said get out.
30:21Why don't we discuss it?
30:24Hmm?
30:25Let's just talk about it.
30:28There's nothing
30:29I want to say to you.
30:30I tried to help you, Gabrielle.
30:33You know?
30:34I saw Furman yesterday,
30:35so you don't have to bother me now,
30:37Lieutenant.
30:38You know,
30:38I tried to help you out.
30:41There's a lot of evidence
30:42against you.
30:45And all of it makes you
30:46look very guilty.
30:49It should make you look good
30:50to get proof.
30:52Hey, maybe Baldi
30:53will give you a raise.
30:56Now, we wouldn't want
30:57all that false evidence wasted.
30:59This is sad.
31:01That you would go so far,
31:03that you would keep up
31:04this pretense for so long,
31:06until Andrew can clear your name.
31:08Gabrielle,
31:09listen.
31:10You mustn't sit and wait.
31:12Don't say his name anymore.
31:15It's named too honest
31:16for your lips.
31:18Gabrielle,
31:19are you aware
31:20of what's going on
31:20with Andrew?
31:21Do you know about
31:22his condition?
31:23Has anyone told you?
31:26He's recuperating.
31:28And then he's going
31:29to be all right.
31:31And then he can tell
31:32what happened.
31:34Gabrielle.
31:35Andrew is as fine
31:36as a man can be.
31:37And there's a lot of people
31:38who know him well.
31:41And if you don't believe it,
31:44then why would Tony Clemente
31:45have him as his pilot?
31:49Andrew is going to tell you,
31:51yes he is,
31:52when he is well.
31:54Then Andrew will be able
31:55to tell you what went on.
32:03Gabrielle,
32:05No, he won't.
32:08Andrew will never be able
32:10to remember it all
32:11or to tell.
32:13Well, we'll see,
32:14won't we?
32:15I say he will.
32:17Oh, and you'll be sorry
32:18then, won't you?
32:20Yeah, you and your boss
32:21think you've got it all
32:22figured out, don't you?
32:25Gabrielle?
32:27Gabrielle Andrew
32:28is never going to talk
32:29to anybody again,
32:30I tell you.
32:31Andrew can hardly be counted
32:33among the living.
32:37What are you talking about?
32:45It's a terrible thing
32:46to have to tell you, Gabrielle.
32:49Andrew would have been
32:50luckier if he'd not survived.
32:51No!
32:51It's true!
32:54I'm sorry to tell you,
32:55it's real.
32:56The nerves that connect
32:57to the brain
32:57have been severed.
32:59It's another lie from you.
33:02No.
33:03What possible motive
33:04would I have
33:05for lying about this?
33:06I thought you knew everything.
33:07Liar.
33:08It is the truth, Gabrielle.
33:10And you have to find
33:11some way to let
33:12all the denial go.
33:13And when you get to trial,
33:14tell them Andrew
33:15mixed you up in all this.
33:17Because it'll help
33:18to get your sentence lowered.
33:20You have to say
33:21that he used you.
33:22You see if you want
33:22to get out.
33:24Believe me,
33:25I know that right now
33:26you're struggling
33:27with all this.
33:28You are unhappy.
33:29But I want you
33:30to understand.
33:32Please don't feel
33:32that I'm against you.
33:33You can't distrust me, Gabrielle.
33:36You have no reason to.
33:40Andrew.
33:41Oh, my God.
33:43You know,
33:43they probably didn't tell you
33:44because they figured
33:45while you were recovering
33:46it would be too much
33:47to take.
33:48Because you were just
33:49starting to walk
33:49on your own.
33:50And they were
33:51very protective.
33:52They're your family.
33:53Nelly, Mariana, Gabrielle.
33:58Andrew has no life anymore.
34:00No sensation.
34:02Doesn't hear or see.
34:05You're here.
34:07You have to save yourself
34:09and tell them
34:11that Andrew did it all.
34:13That he put the stuff
34:14into your purse
34:15and that you didn't
34:16see anything.
34:17And then you tell them
34:19that you knew
34:19absolutely nothing
34:20about that savings account.
34:21It wasn't yours.
34:23You had no idea
34:24it existed.
34:25You have to tell them that.
34:29You think Andrew's misfortune
34:30is a blessing for me,
34:31don't you?
34:32And I should be grateful
34:33he didn't recover, huh?
34:34No, Gabrielle, no.
34:36You should just say
34:36what happened,
34:37the truth,
34:38and save your life.
34:38Don't you listen?
34:39I didn't do anything
34:40so I don't have to lie.
34:42Andrew and I are innocent
34:43and all my words are true.
34:44I said I don't know
34:45what was in my purse
34:46because I don't.
34:47Maybe you put it in there
34:49or maybe it was
34:49your bald boss
34:50but I didn't do anything.
34:51I don't even understand it.
34:53Why won't you
34:54just get out of here?
34:56Get out!
34:59Gabrielle,
35:00what's the matter?
35:02What happened?
35:04It's going to be okay.
35:09Detective!
35:10Call the doctor!
35:11Get someone to take
35:12Miss Swanson
35:12to the infirmary
35:13immediately!
35:14Hurry!
35:15Hurry!
35:17It's going to be okay.
35:33Oh, look at this.
35:34They're everywhere.
35:36Come on.
35:37Come on.
35:37It's time to sing
35:37happy birthday to Joey.
35:41Where is Joey?
35:42Uh, I see him.
35:45Not yet.
35:46We have to wait
35:47for Joey now.
35:52Oh, sweetheart.
35:53What's the matter?
35:55Is something wrong with you?
35:56Come on.
35:57The kid's getting ready
35:58to do the cake.
35:59Huh?
36:00And they can't eat the cake
36:01without you.
36:01They all want to celebrate
36:02your birthday.
36:03We're waiting for you
36:04to blow out your candles.
36:06All right.
36:06Come on now.
36:07Let's go.
36:07Come with me.
36:15All right.
36:17Happy birthday.
36:18Happy birthday to you.
36:23Happy birthday to you.
36:27Happy birthday, dear Joey.
36:33Happy birthday to you.
36:38Yay, yay, yay, yay, yay.
36:40Oh, happy birthday,
36:41my little boy.
36:41Oh, Joey, look who's here.
36:44I'm so excited
36:45to see all of you.
36:46Ah.
36:47Hello.
36:49What a nice surprise
36:50this is for all of us.
36:51I know.
36:51Well, I just had to come
36:52and see my little boy.
36:53Hey, come on.
36:54Don't push, kids.
36:55I'm going to go talk
36:56to him a little bit.
36:56Come on.
36:57Let's go, baby.
36:58Come on.
36:58There we go.
37:00What's the matter, huh?
37:01I want Tony and Layla
37:03to come today.
37:04Well, I know they'll be
37:05coming here this afternoon
37:06to see you.
37:08Hey, that's great.
37:08Yes, it is.
37:09Are you sure they're coming?
37:11Oh, yes.
37:12They call every day
37:12and they say,
37:13make sure that you bring
37:14Joey a kiss from Layla
37:15and one from Tony
37:17and one from me.
37:19And make sure
37:20he knows we're coming, huh?
37:22Okay.
37:22Will you tell Tony
37:23that I'm waiting for him,
37:24okay?
37:25Of course I'll tell them
37:26that my boy is waiting.
37:27See, that was easy, huh?
37:29Joey, come on.
37:30Come on, the pinata.
37:30The pinata.
37:31The pinata.
37:32Go on.
37:32Go and have a wonderful birthday.
37:36When Joey gets here,
37:37then he'll be the first
37:38to put on the blindfold
37:39and then break the pinata
37:41and then you see that...
37:42Oh, here comes Joey.
37:42Oh, Joey, birthday boy.
37:45Okay, Joey, come here.
37:46Let's put on...
37:46He looks so unhappy.
37:48He is.
37:49He has us very worried.
37:51He won't eat,
37:52won't play.
37:53And he is very depressed.
37:56Come on, Joey.
37:57You almost got it.
37:58That's it.
37:59Go.
38:00You got it.
38:01That's good.
38:01Come on, Joey, go.
38:03Oh, yes.
38:04Go.
38:04Careful.
38:04So am I right.
38:07Is the girl
38:07who got the scholarship
38:08in London
38:09the same Gabrielle Swanson
38:11who's mixed up
38:11in this thing with Andrew?
38:14Who told you about that?
38:16About the scholarship?
38:18I know,
38:18because I had work done on it
38:19for Mr. Clemente.
38:23Well, yes.
38:24We are talking
38:25about the same girl.
38:28Well, then.
38:30She worked for Mr. Clemente.
38:32Gabrielle Swanson
38:33was an employee
38:34of the corporation
38:35that is owned
38:35by Tony Clemente.
38:37She worked
38:38and she was
38:39a theater student
38:40and Tony gave her
38:41a scholarship.
38:43Is that what you
38:44wanted to know?
38:45Mm-hmm.
38:46I called you in
38:47because you're the one
38:48who's in charge
38:48of our publicity.
38:50Mm-hmm.
38:50All right?
38:51We have to make sure
38:52that under no circumstances
38:54is this girl
38:55who's going to have
38:56big problems
38:58associated with
38:59this company.
39:00And until Mr. Clemente
39:02gets back,
39:02no one is going
39:03to answer any questions.
39:05I'll see that it's handled.
