Gabriela, a theater student and cheerleader for a basketball team begins a job at a carwash in order to help out her family - her father has just died and she is the eldest of her siblings. The carwash is owned by a famous businessman, Tony Clemente, who will meet Gabriela and have a short but passionate affair with her. Gabriela, however, is falsely accused of drug trafficking and ends up in jail, with a 15-year sentence. Tony abandons her due to her bad luck, choosing to ignore the fact that she is expecting his child. In jail, Gabriela plots her escape, something she pulls off after having served seven years behind bars. Only one objective drives her existence: revenge against the man who ruined her life, Tony Clemente. To achieve her purpose, she changes her name and her physical appearance and manages to reintroduce herself into the life of Tony, making him fall in love with her all over again.

00:01There must be something missing.
00:04This is quite unique in my experience.
00:08I'll tell you one thing, Benino.
00:11If either of them survive, minimum, 20 years in jail.
00:24We have removed the clot.
00:26It's still early, but it looks good.
00:30They're very specific.
00:32He gave me this check.
00:33It's made out for $200,000.
00:35No kidding, to who?
00:36To Gabrielle Swanson.
00:38And is this a check that needs to be delivered?
00:40Because I have no idea where she lives.
00:43No, no, no, no, no.
00:44Here's what you're supposed to do.
00:46Tomorrow morning, you go down to the bank,
00:48the Federal Reserve where we have all of our corporate accounts.
00:51Get a passbook and put it in a savings account for Gabrielle Swanson.
00:55Two of you on a string.
00:57One policeman, you, for your connections.
01:00And Tony Clemente for his money.
01:04Possibly someone else loaned in for luck.
01:06She was quite ingenious, huh?
01:08Huh?
01:09She's just trash and you're better than her.
01:18Oh, little one.
01:21Gabrielle?
01:23Progress.
01:25Apparently, your daughter is a lot tougher than she appeared to us at first.
01:29Her pulse is weak but steady.
01:31There are some subtle signs of recovery.
01:33I hope.
01:35God blesses you.
01:36You brought me my daughter.
01:39What about Andrew?
01:43The prognosis is not too promising.
01:48He received some very serious injuries to his brain.
01:52We can probably repair some of the neuropathology.
01:57Though he might remain in a coma.
02:02It's hopeless to try to estimate how long.
02:05It could be weeks.
02:07It could be years.
02:08It's possible he might never regain consciousness.
02:11Dear Lord.
02:14His recovery will depend on his will to live.
02:17Human beings may have healing resources that medical science hasn't begun to fathom.
02:21But from the look of things at the moment, prepare yourselves.
02:26There are likely to be some gravely difficult times ahead.
02:30No, no.
02:32Horace.
02:36I'm prepared to be his nurse.
02:39I'll take good care of him.
02:43I believe I can mend with love.
02:47I've got to do my best.
02:51More.
02:52Much more.
02:55I just have to.
02:57To get Andrew well.
03:06I heard from Tony earlier today.
03:09He'll call you at home.
03:12But why not tell me on the phone?
03:14Well, telling you in person seemed more proper.
03:19How would you say his attitude was?
03:22Fine. Not bad. Really.
03:24I better not hang around here.
03:26See you later then.
03:49Sammy.
03:51Get ready. She's on the way.
04:03Shut up.
04:04Now do what I tell you, and you won't get hurt.
04:09Take the place out. Hold still.
04:14Now get up.
04:17Behave yourself.
04:18And tell me where she keeps her cash.
04:22I know.
04:23She's got a lot of dough in her clothes closet.
04:26Yeah? Where else is it?
04:28A bit more. In a drawer.
04:30Where's all the jewelry? Where's that?
04:32She keeps the jewels in the bank.
04:34Hey, dude.
04:36Come here.
04:37Take her in the back room and make sure you keep her quiet.
04:42Will you both come with me, please?
04:46Pardon.
04:47I'm looking for a woman by the name of Lucille.
04:50Mrs. Lucille Swanson.
04:53She'll be here in a few minutes.
04:56Maybe you could tell her I need to talk to her.
04:58I'm the father of Tony Clemente.
05:00I'm Martin Clemente.
05:04This way, ladies.
05:08I'll tell Mrs. Swanson you're looking for her.
05:18I can't tell if she's breathing.
05:22She's breathing.
05:24Mom, we shouldn't be in here.
05:26This is where I need to stay with our precious Gabrielle.
05:29Relax, Mom.
05:30Oh, no.
05:31There's no way for me to relax until Gabrielle is well.
05:39Gabrielle is going to recover.
05:42It's unlikely Andrew will.
05:45He'll never give us laughter like before.
05:49He's gone for good, Mom.
05:51I...
05:53Oh, I'm not good, Andrew.
05:55Just go and stay there.
05:57I'll be all right here.
05:59You go ahead now.
06:00Mom, the nurses won't let us.
06:02No, don't worry about that.
06:04Just look after the man.
06:05I'll watch you.
06:17St. Jude.
06:20I'll put you right in here.
06:25St. Jude.
06:31I'll put you right in here.
06:40Oh, poor innocent child.
06:42You must come back to me.
06:44Oh, I wish you could hear me.
06:51Oh, Gabrielle.
06:53You heard me.
06:55Oh, you heard me, Gabrielle.
07:00Oh.
07:01Praise you, Lord.
07:03For saving my daughter's life.
07:06Thank you so much for your charity.
07:24My son, is something the matter?
07:27Not to worry.
07:28Just a whole lot of work.
07:30But isn't the work dangerous?
07:31No, no.
07:33There isn't any danger in what I'm doing.
07:35Most of it is desk work.
07:37You wouldn't believe how many forms one report takes.
07:40It's exhausting.
07:43Something else is bothering you.
07:45What?
07:46I guess I better tell you.
07:50It's just annoying to find out how naive I am.
07:54Mom, I've fallen in love with a girl on a case.
08:00It's a pretty dumb thing for a detective to do, huh?
08:05And...
08:06Oh, David, a little mixed up?
08:08Don't think you're the Lone Ranger.
08:11Tell me about this one, my boy.
08:13No.
08:15No way.
08:17Not this one.
08:19She's different, Mama.
08:20I don't know.
08:22She's the one.
08:26A lot of things go down for no reason.
08:30Today, that girl had an accident.
08:32Was it serious?
08:33Pretty bad.
08:35Recovery will be in.
08:36I'll be in a fight.
08:39But here's the part that made me realize I was really being a fool.
08:44I don't want to say it.
08:48But she might be worse than a gold digger.
08:53She could be running a con, laying a set up for extortion.
08:58We took as evidence a love letter she had written to someone in a very important position of power.
09:04Who might it be?
09:06Tony Clemente.
09:11Repeat it, please.
09:12Tony Clemente. You know Clemente?
09:14Do you know Mama?
09:16Mama, what's the matter?
09:22No.
09:23No.
09:24I don't know him.
09:25I don't know that name.
09:26No.
09:28But, but my boy, you, you have to get away from that poison.
09:32Mama, what?
09:33Oh, they're coming.
09:33They're coming.
09:36Mama, who are you talking about?
09:38And to be quiet.
09:38Who are you talking about?
09:40Oh, nothing.
09:41Nothing.
09:41Who's coming?
09:42They're coming.
09:42What are you talking about?
09:43I feel it.
09:46Sonia.
09:46Sonia, get in here fast.
09:47Come on, please.
09:48Hurry.
09:53Take it easy.
09:57She'll be here any minute now.
10:00Better be the right woman.
10:02Let's do what we have to do and get out.
10:05I'm beginning not to like this.
10:07It's dumb.
10:09You suppose that guy's gonna hold up the dough just because we did the wrong woman?
10:12Hey, chill out.
10:14We'll beat up the right one this time.
10:19I heard there was someone looking for you.
10:22Would you be Lucille Swanson?
10:24Gabrielle Swanson's mother?
10:25Yes, I would.
10:27May I know who is asking?
10:29Of course.
10:30I'm Martin Glamenti.
10:31Tony's father.
10:32I was at the house when you called.
10:36Ah, to tell you the truth, I was terribly worried a bit ago.
10:41Now there's been some encouragement.
10:43And we feel better.
10:45When you talk with your son, would you please tell him this?
10:49Please say that I said thank you.
10:51But to accept his help really wouldn't be proper matters.
10:55Well, then I wish her a rapid recovery.
10:58Mrs. Swanson, I hope you believe me.
11:00I want you to count on me as though I were Tony himself.
11:05One other thing.
11:06You know, I'm aware of what happened between your daughter Gabrielle and my son Tony.
11:13Now perhaps I know what you don't.
11:16Your son has nothing to do with my daughter, Mr. Glamenti.
11:21Well, in any event, I want you to accept my assurance that I am at your disposal.
11:27Mm-hmm. Very nice of you.
11:30As I said before, we'll take care of our own.
11:36It was almost as though she were possessed. It was awful.
11:39She reacted as though I'd thrown her into a room with a wild animal.
11:44She'll get better.
11:49Have you ever seen her respond like that?
11:53Not that I remember.
11:55Don't know. Can't recall.
11:57As far as I know, your mother's never reacted like that to any man.
12:16I think I hear her coming.
12:30Yes?
12:31I'm afraid. And we're not done testing.
12:35But lab results and x-rays indicate.
12:38Your son's chances are slim and he'll need a great deal of care.
12:42I'll do it, doctor.
12:54Tony.
12:57Where were you?
12:59What'd she say?
13:00It sounded like a name.
13:05Come meet your son, Tony.
13:15Turn up anything yet?
13:18Nothing on the Swanson girl?
13:20How about the pilot?
13:22Oldacre was going.
13:25How much?
13:27That's correct.
13:29Is that so?
13:31Something just to remind you to my office directly.
13:34Very good.
13:41Enter.
13:44You wanted to see me?
13:46Of course. Come in.
13:48Have a seat.
13:57So, what can I do for you, Inspector?
14:02I asked you to come down here because I'd like to know a few things about Gabrielle Swanson.
14:08Uh, yeah.
14:11You recall the woman, then?
14:13Yeah, yeah. I remember her.
14:16Something I'd like to know.
14:18Please clarify why you dropped your charges against her.
14:22Well, that is, after thinking about it, well, I realized I overreacted.
14:29You're leaving out a detail here.
14:32Why don't you tell me the name of the person who forced you to rescind the charges?
14:35No one. What can I tell you?
14:37You're so frightened you're shaking in your boots. Who's leaning on you?
14:40Commander.
14:41Who threatened you?
14:42I will find out what I want to know, Mr. Meyer.
14:49Look, Commander, you can't tell anyone I told you, right?
14:56No problem.
14:59No one will find out.
15:02Okay, then.
15:04Uh, well, uh, it was Tony Clemente.
15:09I'm in arrears and a note to his company.
15:11He said he'd collect in full if I didn't back off.
15:15So, I did what he wanted me to.
15:18I can't afford to cover that note.
15:20Yes, but why?
15:22Why do you think he would do such a thing?
15:25Uh, well, how should I know?
15:28I can't begin to guess.
15:30I'm small-time.
15:32A clothier, okay?
15:34A little businessman.
15:37If I had to guess, I'd guess there was something going on between Clemente and the Swanson girl, you know?
15:42Mm-hmm.
15:44Good thinking.
15:49Well...
15:50Is that all?
15:52Yeah, that's all I know.
15:54Yes, you're not lying?
15:56No, no, no, no.
15:58Wouldn't I tell you?
15:59You'd think that I'd lie.
16:01You wouldn't withhold something?
16:03Nothing, Commander.
16:05Okay.
16:07Have a nice day.
16:10I'm counting on you to keep this in confidence, Commander.
16:17With information of the alleged hijacking, one of a series of such attacks over the last two weeks.
16:23At the scene now is Action 7's Janine Bascom with this live report.
16:27Janine, can you hear me?
16:29Janine?
16:29Oh, yes, J.D., I can hear you.
16:31I'm gonna try to talk to an officer on the scene to find out.
16:33Excuse me, Captain.
16:34Can you tell me what's happening?
16:36Yeah, the driver says two men tried to hijack his beer truck here.
16:40Was the driver hurt?
16:41No, no, the hijackers weren't too bright.
16:43They tried to pull the job before they knocked our car on the other side of the intersection.
16:47Who is it?
16:49Who do you think?
16:51Oh, you.
16:52Come on in.
16:53Thanks.
16:55Did you see the station?
16:57Man, I'm beat.
16:58This leg?
16:59Yeah, Furman's blowing hot air.
17:01Want to chase her?
17:02Don't have to twist my arm.
17:04Help yourself.
17:04You know where it is.
17:05Yeah.
17:07What a mess.
17:08You forget to call the bomb squad or what?
17:11I'll clean it up before Mom gets back.
17:13You talk to Herr Furman before you left?
17:16Yeah.
17:17What'd he say?
17:18Nothing.
17:18What do you mean, nothing?
17:21Bonino, give the commander some credit.
17:26The evidence is persuasive.
17:28Well, sure.
17:28If it wasn't persuasive evidence, we wouldn't have collected it.
17:31There's something that doesn't add up about all this stuff.
17:34So many questions remain.
17:36Loose ends.
17:38Bonino, think about it.
17:40Why would a girl who's set up the way she is bother pulling off a heist?
17:46Well, we're detectives, not attorneys.
17:49Let a jury figure it out.
17:51Yeah.
17:51And speaking of evidence, you see her handbag?
17:56Yeah.
17:57Any conclusions?
17:59I'm beginning to think I probably screwed up.
18:02Come on, pal.
18:03Don't be so hard on yourself.
18:05It's not the first mistake you ever made, and it won't be the last.
18:08By the way, there's something that I meant to ask you.
18:11Did you hang onto that duplicate on my birth certificate?
18:13Oh, sure.
18:14May I have it?
18:15Let me dig it out.
18:17I'm gonna need it tomorrow.
18:19Okay.
18:24My mom's quite a collector.
18:26Every clipping becomes a work of art.
18:33What the?
18:39What is all this stuff?
18:44Something wrong?
18:47No, no, nothing.
18:48Not a thing.
18:49Not a thing.
18:51Here's a copy.
18:52Great.
18:52Thanks.
18:59Run, run, Miss Amanda.
19:00Don't come in.
19:01Get away!
19:02Shut up.
19:03Dammit, she's getting away.
19:04Come on, Betty.
19:24Come on.
19:35Tessie!
19:40I do.
19:41Drive, just go!
19:55Tomorrow.
20:04Tony Clemente contributes to program for stray animals.
20:09Social elite turnout to celebrate Clemente anniversary.
20:15Business climate right for expansion and employment, says Mr. Clemente.
20:21The European banks fund Clemente deal.
20:26Tony Clemente to employ 4,000 at new canning operation.
20:32Clemente chairs huge financial conference in April.
20:38Why the hell did mom keep this stuff?
20:43No.
20:45Nonsense.
20:48Oh, I didn't see her in person.
20:50I'm positive the young woman is a patient there.
20:52This Gabrielle Swanson.
20:54The daughter of the woman who called you on the phone?
20:56Uh-huh.
20:57What is her condition?
20:58Well, the best they can say is that she's stabilized.
21:02While they think the worst is over, they'll keep a close watch on how she progresses.
21:06Oh, my.
21:09There's a very intriguing aspect to all of this.
21:12There's a young man named Andrew...
21:14Andrew something, a pilot.
21:17Apparently they were together when all this occurred,
21:19and the thugs hammered him even worse than her.
21:22But who, but why?
21:24No idea who or why.
21:27Kidnappers or burglars.
21:31It's really odd.
21:34Very.
21:35And it was just the other day that Tony told me that the same Andrew Payne had recently tendered his
21:40resignation.
21:41Now he seems in the thick of all this.
21:44We're bound to get some answers when the police reports begin to come to the surface.
21:49Anyway, I talked to Mrs. Swanson and tried to assure her that we wanted to do whatever we could to
21:54help.
21:54Uh-huh, probably safer than bullying.
21:57That sort of phone call worries me.
22:00Yes, I wondered just what she wanted.
22:02And then she informed me she didn't want anything from the Clementis at all.
22:13Martin, what is the brouhaha surrounding Tony and this girl?
22:19Uh, nurse, excuse me. How's my daughter any change?
22:23Well, yes, there's a little improvement. Every little bit counts.
22:26Ah, but can I visit my daughter now?
22:30It'd be better if you waited a while.
22:32I know what you're going through. I really do.
22:35You must be so tired.
22:37Why not try and get at least a little rest?
22:40You'll find your outlook will improve.
22:42It really will.
22:43No, not me.
22:45I can't rest until Gabrielle's out of danger.
22:49It's a very encouraging omen that she spoke.
22:53Huh?
22:54Well, you're Gabrielle.
22:55I was in the ICU a little bit ago and I could actually hear her.
23:00Oh, did you?
23:01She said, Tony.
23:03And then she said, this is your son, Tony.
23:06I wasn't aware she had a son.
23:17Tony.
23:20Tony.
23:24You managed to get a bite.
23:26Yeah, I ate, Mom.
23:27Your sister's improving.
23:30She actually said something.
23:31Both nurses heard her.
23:33Great. Now maybe the worst is over.
23:37And Andrew.
23:41Andrew's alive, Mom.
23:44But he hasn't regained consciousness.
23:46And he might never.
23:48Ah.
23:51Julia.
23:54My baby.
23:57My good daughter.
24:01My other good daughter.
24:08When did you fall in love with Andrew, huh?
24:13I'd prefer not to talk about it.
24:15But why?
24:18It's a great gift to fall in love.
24:22I believe it happened the moment I met Andrew.
24:26He loves Gabrielle, not me.
24:32When did I fall in love with Andrew?
24:34Andrew.
24:36I've always been.
24:40It's as though I've loved him since I was born.
24:45So sad.
24:48We have a lot of history.
24:53Possibly no future, though.
24:54No.
24:58Oh, Andrew, how I need you.
25:02What's important?
25:05Gabrielle and Andrew will live.
25:09We'd better be there for them, huh?
25:12Yeah.
25:13They're gonna need us.
25:16And we have to be ready.
25:18Whatever may come.
25:20I'm gonna leave her.
25:21I'm gonna leave her.
25:23I'm gonna leave her.
25:46There was somebody in there, waiting in my apartment.
25:50I got scared and ran.
25:52I hate to think of what those people might have done to me
25:55if the maid hadn't yelled and told me to run.
25:57But who were they, they say?
25:59No, no, I have no idea.
26:01I got off the elevator, grabbed my keys, and heard Alicia scream.
26:07I ran out, got a cab, and came here as fast as I could.
26:10Oh, God. Did they see you?
26:12I don't know. I don't believe so.
26:15Why would they follow me? Burglars just steal.
26:18I don't understand anything about this.
26:21Why were you going to your apartment at that hour anyway?
26:26Because, you see, I was expecting to get a telephone call from Tony.
26:30You saw Tony?
26:31No, no, no, no. I didn't see him.
26:33Just past nine, I met Horendon.
26:35He told me right in here that Tony would call.
26:38This is why we have a police department. I'm going to call them right now.
26:41No, I think that'd be a big mistake.
26:45Horendon, where is he?
26:46Well, about an hour ago, he left.
26:49What's going on? What are you thinking about?
26:52Wait a minute.
26:55After I left here, I stopped by Andrew's apartment on the way to my place,
26:59and the police were there.
27:01I discovered something horrible had happened.
27:05Before that, Horendon tells me I'll get a call at my place.
27:13Tony.
27:15Amanda, be careful. Don't you think like that.
27:18What's going on between you two?
27:21He knows.
27:25How could anybody know?
27:29You sent for me?
27:30Make a little trip to the hospital with me.
27:33The other Swanson girl here to me.
27:35She's taking care of her sister.
27:36So then you know where she is.
27:38Right.
27:45Have some coffee, Mom.
27:48Thanks, Mip.
27:49And you?
27:50I've already had enough coffee.
27:56There, Mom.
27:58There.
28:00What a terrible thing.
28:04To see either of my children hurt fills me with horror.
28:08So many years.
28:11Supporting.
28:13Watching over you.
28:17But eventually, to see you both emerge and blossom.
28:22I don't know how to express how blessed I feel by both of you.
28:26Then this awful thing happened.
28:30So I have the comfort and love my older baby.
28:34My hopes and healings were carried to her by St. Jude.
28:39And then she squeezes my hand.
28:44Thank goodness, Julia.
28:47Gabrielle's all right.
28:49Yes, of course she is, Mom.
28:54Julia.
28:55Please wait here for a while.
28:57Would you allow me to visit with your sister for a few minutes by myself?
29:01Okay.
29:02All right.
29:09Miss Swanson?
29:11Yes?
29:11I'm sorry to invade.
29:13Would you please come along with me?
29:15Commander Furman has some questions for you.
29:16Police?
29:17No.
29:18But I can't leave here.
29:20This request is official.
29:21Forget your orders.
29:23I'm not moving.
29:24I'm afraid you have no choice.
29:26If you don't come, I'll have to arrest you.
29:32Yeah.
29:33Detective Randall.
29:34Put me through to Commander Furman, please.
29:41Furman.
29:43Hello, Commander.
29:44I'm calling to ask you to disregard my stupidity of yesterday.
29:48Very well.
29:50Consider it done.
29:51I got some rest, and I think I got my head on straight now about this incident with Gabrielle
29:56Swanson.
29:57I have a hunch about this whole matter.
30:01But I know hunches don't really count for much, so I'd like to do some serious digging
30:05into her background.
30:08David, you want the case?
30:10Mm-hmm.
30:12I do, Commander.
30:13Very much.
30:14You can depend on me to be professional.
30:17Pardon?
30:18You're telling me about that cleared up the problem.
30:20No more of that stuff.
30:22It doesn't make any sense.
30:23I can't afford to operate like that.
30:25You were right to put your foot on my neck to get me to pay attention.
30:29Oh, and by the way, I managed to get the hospital to tell me that the Swanson girl survived that
30:34risky surgery.
30:36Mm-hmm.
30:37Well, that's good.
30:39We'll get to the bottom of this mess yet with her help.
30:43If you're ready, let's get on with it.
30:45One thing in particular I want.
30:47You'll need a subpoena.
30:49Bank accounts.
30:50That's what I want to find.
30:52Check out the banks.
30:54Every one.
30:55We need to know if she's opened any accounts lately and how much is in them.
31:00I'd better come to the station.
31:02Go find a judge.
31:07I will, Commander.
31:08I will.
31:21Come in, Mr. Swanson.
31:40Hi.
31:41I will.
31:43I will.
31:45I will.
31:51I will.
31:53Gerald.
31:54I just deposited that check.
31:56Well, Nora.
31:57That's great.
31:59Yeah.
32:00Yeah.
32:00You're probably putting a terrible strain on that giant brain of yours.
32:04Forcing it to absorb that heavy reading.
32:07Okay, Nora.
32:08Enough said.
32:09I get the message.
32:11I happen to have some work to do today.
32:15Something I wanted to ask you.
32:17Of all the people involved with Mr. Clemente.
32:20Oh.
32:21How can I say this?
32:23There are so many others who might be much more deserving of all that money.
32:28Nora.
32:30All I know is we have our jobs and Tony Clemente has his job.
32:36Our reasons aren't his reasons.
32:39So let's just do our jobs and not worry.
32:42The bold and daring approach, huh?
32:44Good thing you're driving someone else's car.
32:48You're quite a kidder.
32:50Yeah.
32:50Ciao, Gerald.
32:51Ciao, Gerald.
32:57Just tell me why I'm here.
32:58If you don't mind, I'll ask the questions.
33:00This is a police investigation.
33:03My sister may need me at any moment.
33:05At the moment, your sister needs nothing.
33:08Cooperate.
33:09You have no other choice.
33:17I want some information about your sister, Ms. Swanson.
33:20Her activities, associates.
33:21Why should I think that's important?
33:23I will determine what's important and inform you.
33:26Now answer my question.
33:29If you think your sister is innocent of wrongdoing,
33:33you can help her best by telling me the truth as you know it.
33:35I remind you, we're in the middle of a criminal investigation.
33:39What do you need to know?
33:42What are your sister's interests?
33:44What does she do for money?
33:46Gabrielle makes a little money from the Panthers as a cheerleader.
33:49Makes a little money.
33:50What else?
33:52Come on, Inspector.
33:53I said what else?
33:56She also attends drama school.
33:58Oh, big actress.
34:01What's the charge, Commander?
34:03Look, lady.
34:05You and your mother are covering up for your sister.
34:10Or your sister is lying to both of you.
34:12I hope I'm wrong on both counts, but I wouldn't bet against it if I were you.
34:17You'd better play it smart.
34:20Put your cards on the table.
34:22Tell me about her activities.
34:23But what activities?
34:24Come on.
34:25How can you blame her?
34:26She was assaulting.
34:27What was she doing in Andrew Payne's apartment?
34:29Is that a drop point?
34:30Is she a mule?
34:31What is he to her?
34:32Personal problems.
34:34Are they lovers?
34:35Do they live together?
34:36No.
34:36My sister lives at home with our mother.
34:38Andrew is a family friend.
34:40He was a friend of my father's who's only been dead for six months.
34:44My neighbors will vouch for that.
34:47Andrew's known Gabrielle and me since we were little kids.
34:49And he's probably our best friend.
34:51You can bank on that.
34:55Okay.
34:58I'll say for now you know nothing about her activities, good or bad.
35:03And another subject for now.
35:06Has a quantity of money come into her hands?
35:09Oh, you are totally certifiable.
35:11For your friends and sisters' sakes.
35:14You have to be completely candid.
35:17We're all depending on you.
35:20Penino.
35:20Yes, Commander?
35:22That's enough.
35:24Take her where she wants to go.
35:26And Miss, don't leave the city without letting me know, all right?
35:31I've got all the power.
35:34Remember that.
35:37You can go.
35:38Listen, Commander.
35:39That's all.
36:25I'm alive.
36:29Yes, Gabrielle.
36:30Yes, Gabrielle.
36:39Mama.
36:42Mama.
36:43Where's her mother?
36:44In the hallway.
36:45Bring her in right away.
36:50Take it easy.
36:52Take it easy.
36:55You were in an accident.
36:59But it was.
37:00Accident.
37:06There was someone.
37:10Andrew was.
37:11Quiet.
37:12Quiet.
37:13There now.
37:14It's all over.
37:16Andrew's here with you.
37:17You're going to be fine.
37:19I know.
37:21My head.
37:23It will improve.
37:25The discomfort will pass eventually.
37:28Relax.
37:29And rest for a while.
37:31Where's Mama?
37:33Outside.
37:34Oh, thank you.
37:36You're welcome.
37:38Sorry to keep you waiting.
37:40Ah.
37:41Thank heavens.
37:43Oh.
37:45May God bless you.
37:48Ah, my little angel.
38:03I'm going to get you.
38:05Oh.
38:06Shh.
38:07Yes?
38:09Layla.
38:10This is your mother.
38:12Yes?
38:13I'm here with Martin.
38:14Where are you?
38:15You're in New York?
38:16Ah-ha.
38:17How wonderful, my precious.
38:19There are so many things you simply have to see and do.
38:22Oh, Brian.
38:22Come on, come on.
38:23One moment.
38:24Is Tony around to talk?
38:26Let me talk to him.
38:28You sound good, Tony.
38:31Come on.
38:31Oh, that's good.
38:32Come on.
38:32Let me talk to him.
38:33Let me...
38:34Wait a second.
38:34Could you repeat that last?
38:36Yes, yes.
38:37Perfect.
38:38Joey Antonio is doing just great.
38:40Uh-huh.
38:41Oh, the orphanage gave him something for you.
38:44And...
38:44Uh-huh.
38:44That's why they're always late.
38:47I quit hoping it took so long.
38:50Oh, my poor thing.
38:51And then...
38:52I was...
38:54I almost forgot to mention something.
38:56I had a call about one of your employees.
38:58A girl.
38:59No.
38:59What was her name?
39:00No, nothing about that.
39:02Don't tell him about that girl.
39:03Okay.
39:04No, Martin was trying to remember her name.
39:07It's only partial information, but I understand that robbers attacked that girl who used to be employed at the car
39:13wash.
39:13I got it.
39:13Let it go.
39:14Let it go.
39:14Now, Colette.
39:17Pardon me.
39:19Yes?
39:20You remember me, don't you?
39:21I was here just the other evening.
39:24After all that went on, how could I forget you?
39:27What do you want?
39:29Please, if you would let me into the apartment so I can recover something I left here, I'd be most
39:34appreciative.
39:35I'm terribly sorry, but I can't let anyone in there without the owner's permission.
39:40Well, yes, of course, but surely you could bend once.
39:43I wouldn't need but a minute.
39:45No, I'm sorry.
39:46It can't be done.
39:47My dear woman, it will be most embarrassing for the owner, my close associate, if you don't allow me to
39:53go in.
39:54Hmm.
39:55And what do you have to get?
39:58It's of a personal nature.
40:00Never mind.
40:01Don't bother.
40:03I'll simply have to come back with the owner, since you refused to cooperate.
40:08Just a minute.
40:08Hold on there, ma'am.
40:10I don't want to make any trouble.
40:12I'll let you in, but I have to be there, and I'll lock up behind you.
40:17No problem.
40:24Eloise, excuse me.
40:25Yeah?
40:26I have to inspect that electrical.
40:28Now, you promised me.
40:29Gotta hold you to it.
40:31Hold on a minute.
40:32Miss, excuse me.
40:33I'll be back in a minute.
40:34Very well.
40:58For my love.
41:01God.
41:02My love.
41:04God.
41:05God.
41:06For my love.
41:09God.
41:10God.
41:25You're welcome.
