Gabriela, a theater student and cheerleader for a basketball team begins a job at a carwash in order to help out her family - her father has just died and she is the eldest of her siblings. The carwash is owned by a famous businessman, Tony Clemente, who will meet Gabriela and have a short but passionate affair with her. Gabriela, however, is falsely accused of drug trafficking and ends up in jail, with a 15-year sentence. Tony abandons her due to her bad luck, choosing to ignore the fact that she is expecting his child. In jail, Gabriela plots her escape, something she pulls off after having served seven years behind bars. Only one objective drives her existence: revenge against the man who ruined her life, Tony Clemente. To achieve her purpose, she changes her name and her physical appearance and manages to reintroduce herself into the life of Tony, making him fall in love with her all over again.

00:01Are you still so entranced by your hero, the great Clemente?
00:06I'm even more...
00:09entranced more.
00:11Because Tony is...
00:13the greatest thing.
00:16The most important person I will ever meet and the greatest love I'll ever know.
00:22The one true love.
00:24The purest love.
00:26Now I want you to go. Leave!
00:28Get out!
00:30If you have to push me on it, the problem is about your ex-pilot Andrew.
00:35And Gabrielle Swanson.
00:38This is the problem.
00:44There's no change.
00:46There's really no point in keeping him here.
00:49His vital signs are strong.
00:51His heart and his lungs.
00:53But unfortunately, the damage to his brain is irreparable.
00:58Gabrielle Andrew is never going to talk to anybody again, I tell you.
01:02Andrew can hardly be counted among the living.
01:08Still, it's so weird.
01:10Hard to believe.
01:13that a girl so...
01:18could really get mixed up in this.
01:20Mr. Mondela, Mr. Clemente's plane has just left New York.
01:27Here.
01:28Your daughter will be right in.
01:30Where is she?
01:31She felt dizzy, so they took her to the infirmary.
01:33But she's okay.
01:35Ah, well.
01:36Does she have anything to eat?
01:38No, not that I know of.
01:39As a matter of fact, we gave her some coffee.
01:41She wouldn't even drink it.
01:42Oh, yeah, sure.
01:43You expect her to eat food from a jailer.
01:45Mother.
01:45No, mother, nothing.
01:46That's the way your sister is.
01:47If it's not food for me, it's not good enough for her to eat it.
01:50It's her way.
01:51I'll be quiet, that's it.
01:56I'm sorry, I'm upset.
02:05Gabrielle, how are you?
02:06I'm okay.
02:07Baby.
02:08You have half an hour.
02:09Yes, sure, thanks.
02:11Andrew.
02:13I heard what happened to Andrew.
02:15Oh, Gabrielle, how'd you find out?
02:18Julia, is it?
02:19Is it true?
02:21Gabrielle, there's a lot to tell you.
02:23We didn't want to concern you while you were ill.
02:28But is there progress?
02:29Huh?
02:30Any progress?
02:31I go every day to the hospital.
02:32I mean, I wish I could tell you something reassuring, but I can't.
02:36There was severe brain damage.
02:38He was hurt much worse than you.
02:41But chances are he'll never recuperate.
02:46I just don't understand what's going on.
02:48Why did this have to happen to us?
02:51Maybe there's still some hope, Gabrielle.
02:54I'm going to take care of him.
02:56I know it will be tough.
02:59But I'll do it.
03:01You're hungry, baby.
03:02You want something to eat?
03:04I can't eat, Mama.
03:05Ah, but I've brought you some things you need to eat.
03:08It is impossible to sustain your strength without eating something.
03:12Huh?
03:13Now come on and have something, will you?
03:15I hate it when you don't eat.
03:17Oh, Mama.
03:18Yeah.
03:20Your Mama's here.
03:22Yeah.
03:23This will pass.
03:24Yes.
03:24I know that you are good, my love.
03:28Yes.
03:31I'd like coffee.
03:32Coffee.
03:33I'll get her some.
03:34No, I'll get it.
03:35I know just how Gabrielle likes it.
03:37Huh?
03:38I'll go to the cafeteria.
03:39I'll be back before you know it.
03:47Julia.
03:49I know.
03:50You're concerned for Andrew.
03:52Well, I talked to Nellie and mentioned the possibility that maybe Andrew, when he gets out of the hospital, can
04:01stay at our house.
04:03I won't be back there.
04:05So he can stay.
04:06Oh, Gabrielle.
04:08You won't be here that long.
04:10No, Julia.
04:12I won't be back.
04:14A lot of things are becoming very clear to me all of a sudden.
04:17You know?
04:20I've been forced to look at this situation.
04:23I'm being accused of a terrible thing.
04:26It's an incredibly terrible situation and I don't think I'll find my way out of it.
04:32You don't know how it feels.
04:34But these guys that did this to us aren't just punks looking for what I don't know.
04:39I think that there's a leader.
04:42I think that someone's after me and after Andrew and I don't know why.
04:46But I'll tell you one thing.
04:47I'm gonna find out who it is.
04:49Even if it takes me forever, I'll know.
04:50You and everybody will know that I didn't do those things.
05:05Julia.
05:07Julia, tell me.
05:08Please.
05:10I have to ask something so I can be certain.
05:12You need to be sure because it's important.
05:18At the time I was in the hospital, when you came to visit, you were with me a lot of
05:23the time, weren't you?
05:25Because...
05:26I don't know.
05:28I don't remember.
05:29I can't...
05:30I don't know.
05:31I thought maybe...
05:33I thought maybe...
05:35Gabrielle, what is it?
05:36You can ask me anything.
05:38What do you want to know?
05:40Please.
05:42I thought when you came to the hospital...
05:45Remember me having my period?
05:46A week after I was there, did I have my period?
05:48Huh?
05:58No, I don't think you did.
06:02Actually, I know you didn't.
06:04I thought it was because of the trauma you experienced, but I'm sure you didn't have it.
06:08That's what I thought.
06:11But I wasn't certain.
06:12You know, it's not that peculiar.
06:15Many things can contribute to a woman's cycle being interrupted.
06:18Stress, all you've been through, it could be your cycle's out of control.
06:22Yeah, perhaps.
06:23I believe what you're saying, but I could be pregnant, and that is what I fear right now.
06:29It's Tony Clemente's?
06:34Yes.
06:37Gabrielle, you've got to be kidding me.
06:39You didn't take any precautions?
06:45This wasn't one of those times for precautions.
06:51It's just that I didn't think to fall in love that night.
06:57I can't change what's happened.
07:01But you really think so?
07:03Is there something you're feeling?
07:05I've got this instinct.
07:07I know what you feel like when you're pregnant, lousy and nauseous.
07:11There's something inside of me.
07:13And it's growing, and I can feel it.
07:14It's hard to understand, but it's true.
07:17Gabrielle, what did you do?
07:20Well, there's only one way to tell for sure.
07:22A test.
07:23I'll pick one up at the pharmacy.
07:25This way you'll know.
07:27This is a test you can do for yourself right here.
07:29It's simple.
07:30Okay, do me a favor.
07:31Do me a favor and get this test for me.
07:33Because I need it.
07:34All right.
07:35You won't let me down?
07:36You'll go and get the test for me today?
07:37I promise I'll go and get it for you right away.
07:40I got you a copy for you.
07:44Have a good day.
07:47Yes?
07:48What can I do for you?
07:50Pardon me.
07:52Commander.
07:54My name is Bradley Benderson.
07:57I'm here representing Gabrielle Swanson.
08:00I've been retained by her family to represent her.
08:04Really?
08:05Yes, sure.
08:07You bet.
08:08Is there a problem?
08:11No, no, no.
08:12It's wonderful that you're here to represent Ms. Swanson.
08:16It's just that all this seems rather strange.
08:19I mean, she told me her family was impoverished.
08:23That they didn't have money for anything.
08:24They were living hand to mouth.
08:26Yet they have money for an attorney.
08:28Oh, excuse me.
08:29Please, have a seat.
08:30Thank you, thank you.
08:32Oh, my.
08:34I brought a few books to help me here.
08:37Mostly references.
08:39Hold on, hold on.
08:41This one gets stuck.
08:45I'll get that later.
08:49I'll get that later.
08:51And these.
08:55Ah, this is it.
08:58And here it is.
09:08Here it is.
09:10We'll wait.
09:10Uh.
09:12This says.
09:14Aha.
09:15It is the lawyer's prerogative during a client's representation to protect them.
09:23If the party bringing the action does not have substantiating evidence, the charges must be dropped.
09:31You understand, prosecuting my client is such a grievous travesty.
09:36You know that I'm defending this little girl, Ms. Swanson, and I don't care for badgering.
09:43Sure, sure.
09:45I can understand.
09:46But I haven't said anything to you yet.
09:47I know.
09:48I like to lay down the ground rules.
09:51Look, uh, Commander Furman, if you'll permit me, I would like to know what's the exact accusation that exists against
09:59the defendant.
10:01What is the significance, really, of this accusation?
10:05In addition, what exactly is being done in relation to gathering evidence?
10:11And also, is it necessary to keep her secluded here under lock and key in this station?
10:19Well, right now, I'm not as limited to say.
10:22Certain things are strictly confidential.
10:24Is that right?
10:25Mm-hmm.
10:25We'll see about that.
10:30Give me a second.
10:38Ah, here it is.
10:40Here it is.
10:41Here it is.
10:41Right here on page 172, it says right here, it is unlawful for anyone not to answer direct cross-examinations,
10:51therefore preventing the due process of law.
10:55And that means in your office, it means in a court, during a trial or a hearing, no discoveries can
11:02be held from the defense.
11:04And this here, Commander, supports my contention that you have to answer questions that I might ask or violate the
11:10law.
11:12It's the law, officer, and you can't make it up.
11:15It's actually very simple, really.
11:18Constitution has one section on free disclosure.
11:22Aha, this is the one I was looking for.
11:25Yeah, this one's good.
11:26Here.
11:27This one.
11:28Uh-huh.
11:29Nice.
11:30On to here.
11:31This is it.
11:33Yeah.
11:34Aha, here.
11:35Wait a minute.
11:36I've got it marked down.
11:38Well, listen, sure, sure, sure.
11:39No more.
11:40I get the idea.
11:41It's all right.
11:42You have a valid point there.
11:43You stand corrected.
11:44Yes.
11:46What is it you want to know?
11:49Well, as long as you ask.
11:52All of it.
11:53Everything.
11:54Everything that you know.
11:55I want an exact description.
11:57Exact and thorough account of the case.
12:01Because everything is necessary for me to compile my case.
12:05Do you understand?
12:06And is it possible to arrange a meeting here?
12:09Perhaps I could see my client.
12:11You have to allow it.
12:13See, I have another book right here that says...
12:16It's in...
12:17No, no, no.
12:18It's not necessary.
12:19It's not needed.
12:20It's all right.
12:21It's not needed.
12:23Counselor...
12:23Benderson.
12:25Bradley Benderson.
12:26How do you...
12:28Mr. Benderson.
12:29Yeah.
12:29Where did you go to school?
12:30College of the Ozark.
12:32And you know I even passed the bar.
12:34My card is somewhere right here in my jacket.
12:37I know I had one of my cards.
12:40Don't seem to be able to find it.
12:41If I can't...
12:43I can always see...
12:44I was going to take the diploma.
12:46The diploma should be in the bag.
12:49It's actually a copy of the original.
12:51Because the original is at the office alongside the important stuff.
12:54So I couldn't bring it.
12:55But I have a photocopy.
12:56You know I have a photocopy on me somewhere.
12:59Where is that photocopy?
13:08Hi, Greta.
13:08How you doing?
13:09Hi, Julia.
13:10What can I do for you?
13:11A home pregnancy test you have in here?
13:13Uh-huh.
13:14May I have one?
13:15Julia, what did you do?
13:17Don't say that you're...
13:18No, no, Greta.
13:19It's for my friend.
13:20And she's from the university.
13:22Are you sure?
13:22Yes, I'm sure.
13:28Do you know how these things work?
13:30No, but I can read.
13:31You should see a doctor in case you need some medicine.
13:34This is for my friend.
13:35Yeah, right.
13:36Your friend.
13:37How much?
13:39$16.80.
13:40I saw it before.
13:42It changes color.
13:43No.
13:43Put in three drops of your urine.
13:45If a small circle appears, you'll know it's positive.
13:48It'll happen in a minute.
13:49Uh-huh.
13:49Positive is a little circle.
13:51Okay.
13:51Julia, are you sure this test isn't for you?
13:54Certainly not.
13:55See you, Greta.
13:56Okay.
14:01I'm on me.
14:04Uh, sit down.
14:09You remember me?
14:11Yeah, sure.
14:12Weren't you just at the hospital, looking for Andrew?
14:15Yes.
14:17But now I have to talk to you.
14:19The hospital was kind enough to give me your address.
14:22Huh.
14:23What?
14:24You're here.
14:26Uh...
14:26Can I ask a question?
14:29It's very important for me.
14:31For me.
14:33For me.
14:33Perhaps for you.
14:35But especially for your daughter.
14:38Hmm.
14:41Well...
14:42Go ahead.
14:43Um...
14:44Tell me.
14:46See, I'm not trying to be nosy.
14:48Because I don't know her.
14:50But...
14:52How would you classify her relationship with Andrew?
14:56Well...
14:57Uh...
14:58I classify it as good friends who have known each other since they were children.
15:02But she, um...
15:04Your daughter...
15:05Wasn't his girlfriend?
15:06No.
15:07Of course not.
15:10Pardon me, but...
15:12Did she often go to his apartment?
15:15I mean, did she visit him a lot?
15:19And why do you want to know that?
15:21You see, it's important that I make sure before I say...
15:26Because the explanation...
15:28Will be of great interest to your daughter and to yourself.
15:31Hmm.
15:34Well, she saw him a few times.
15:37But not that often since he just got his apartment.
15:40And so she wasn't normally at his condo?
15:43No.
15:45And then Gabrielle was arrested selling drugs.
15:48These are serious accusations.
15:49These are all false charges.
15:51It's going to be resolved.
15:52It's not true.
15:55Uh...
15:55Tell me something.
15:57Those people who got into Andrew's apartment and hit both Gabrielle and Andrew.
16:01Who could they be?
16:03You really think that they were thieves?
16:06I don't know.
16:08See, that's what they told us.
16:09Someone down at the police station.
16:11There weren't thieves.
16:13Andrew had money on him.
16:14They didn't touch it.
16:16Not zip.
16:17And another thing.
16:18Andrew had on a very expensive watch.
16:20And they didn't take that either.
16:21You know the police returned it to Andrew's mother and never said anything about it.
16:26Well, this whole thing's starting to make sense.
16:29And I know what happened.
16:30Well, tell me what happened.
16:32Maybe later.
16:33You'll get the answers you need, I promise.
16:36You will or your daughter will.
16:38Goodbye.
16:38But wait.
16:39Don't go, please.
16:40Wait a second.
16:42What's the matter?
16:43That lady, she said she had some information about your sister.
16:50Uh, who is that, Mom?
16:52Well, it's a woman at the hospital that was looking for Andrew.
16:55What did she want?
16:56Well, I don't know yet.
16:57She said she'll come back.
17:00But she just told me something.
17:01She told me she knew about everything that's happened.
17:04But we have to stop her.
17:05No, wait, wait.
17:05There was a taxi here waiting for her.
17:07She's already left.
17:08There's no point going after her.
17:10But she's coming back.
17:12The important thing, she'll be back.
17:16Gabrielle.
17:17There's someone to see you.
17:18It's all right.
17:23How you doing, Gabrielle Swanson?
17:27You're here.
17:29Is Tony with you?
17:31To complete the pregnancy test, take three drops of urine and put them into the tube.
17:35Ah, I didn't know you were still here.
17:38What's that?
17:39Uh, nothing, Mom.
17:40Nothing.
17:41Uh-huh.
17:45Julia, what's this?
17:47It's part of an experiment we were doing at the university.
17:49Uh-huh.
17:50It's to test pregnancies.
17:52Ah.
17:53You went to the university today?
17:56No, no, Friday.
17:57I got the test then and forgot it was here.
17:59I have to find a person who's expecting so I can do the exam.
18:02To, uh, see if the test is accurate.
18:04It's part of the class.
18:05Uh-huh.
18:06Uh-huh.
18:08Uh-huh.
18:08And who's pregnant?
18:10Uh, the girl whose dad owns the grocery store around the block.
18:14Hey.
18:15Hey, wait a minute.
18:16It could be that lady's comeback.
18:21Marianne.
18:23How are you?
18:24Been to the hospital?
18:26Yes, I have.
18:28Lucille, something awful has happened to me.
18:30Now I have to talk to you.
18:35Uh-huh.
18:36I'm feeling a little better.
18:37Uh-huh.
18:39Please believe I was sorry to hear what happened to you.
18:42Thank you for taking care of my doctor's fees.
18:48I just can't tell you how very grateful I am.
18:52Say thank you to Tony.
18:54Or was it his father?
18:55Well, I, uh, same thing.
18:57In that case, I prefer Tony.
19:01Mention the fact that I appreciate him taking care of everything.
19:05Well, the decision to pay for you, it was very personal.
19:09I don't know if you knew that Tony left town a month ago.
19:16May I ask you something important?
19:18Mm-hmm.
19:21Does Tony know what happened?
19:25Yes.
19:27Huh?
19:29Well, of course, he authorized the funds to pay for your bills.
19:34He wishes you a quick recovery.
19:38How nice of him.
19:41Now then.
19:44This is why I came.
19:46It's important that you listen.
19:50I discovered why you're here, what's been happening to you,
19:53and what you're being accused of.
19:56It is a lie, I swear, a total lie.
19:58It's a very grave accusation, Gabrielle.
20:01It's a misunderstanding.
20:03It doesn't really matter if I believe you or not.
20:05I am not a trial judge.
20:07Now, listen.
20:08I want to talk to you about the corporation.
20:10I want to talk to you about my two friends, Tony Clemente and Layla.
20:16You know, I have to be very frank with you, Gabrielle.
20:20My friend Tony went away with Layla.
20:25Why?
20:26Because he's really trying to save his marriage.
20:30I understand that.
20:34And anyway, there's no real chance for you to see him.
20:39Here you are, involved in this situation.
20:44You and Andrew.
20:48Permit me to be frank, please.
20:50This is hard to say to you.
20:53But please don't try to see him anymore.
20:57And don't send your sister looking either.
21:02No, wait, I'm not finished.
21:03I understand.
21:05Gabrielle, I know everything.
21:07Everything that's going on.
21:09But the reality is,
21:12there is a serious accusation level against you.
21:16You see, if someone finds out about your relationship with Tony Clemente,
21:20well, it's a disaster.
21:22It could ruin us.
21:23This is a disaster for the company, for Tony Clemente, for Layla,
21:26for all the people involved.
21:29Because Tony is their president.
21:31I understand.
21:32I have to do everything I can to help Tony avoid this mess.
21:35Listen, I must tell you a little-known secret about Tony Clemente.
21:40When Tony first ran into you,
21:43you didn't know this, but his marriage was in big trouble.
21:46Because they'd been married for ten years,
21:48and Tony wanted to be a parent,
21:49and they couldn't have any children.
21:53But right now, everything has changed totally,
21:55and they're happy because Layla's gotten pregnant,
21:58and Tony will finally be a father.
22:07The End
22:07Okay, children, that was a nice party, wasn't it?
22:10Okay, we're going to go back to the house.
22:11Mama, look, a doggy!
22:12Yes, it's a nice doggy.
22:14Okay, let's go back in the house.
22:15Oh, my dear, I'm glad I came here today.
22:18Thanks to you, my sweetie, for including us on this special day.
22:23Will you tell Tony about the cake and everything?
22:26Of course I will tell him everything.
22:28And say that I waited for him.
22:30Sure, I will. I'll tell him.
22:32Well, Sabrina, I'll see you later.
22:34Thanks for everything.
22:35Oh, don't be silly. You have given the children such a wonderful afternoon.
22:38I'm sure they won't forget you.
22:42See you later.
22:43All right, my little man. You be good.
22:46Bye.
22:46Okay? I'll see you later.
22:49Bye-bye, sweetheart. We'll see you soon.
22:57Bye.
23:00My son.
23:02Yes.
23:04Leila may not be the easiest lady to get along with.
23:07She can be rude and snobby.
23:10But she's made Tony Clemente.
23:12And see if she finds out that you two were together, that would not only destroy their marriage, but as
23:17I said, it would rip apart Clemente Enterprises.
23:20Yes, you're right.
23:21All right.
23:23See if you're quiet and don't involve us.
23:27Then the Clemente organization's prepared to get for you.
23:30And listen carefully.
23:32The finest lawyers money can buy.
23:35And once you're acquitted and released, our company could place you into any school and take care of all your
23:42expenses.
23:43Take a little vacation.
23:45We have nothing more to talk about.
23:46Oh, be smart for once.
23:49You are correct.
23:52Tony and his wife are going to have a baby.
23:55And now I'm a bother.
23:56I risk something to be taken care of.
24:01You want to know why?
24:04Because I love him.
24:06Because I can't just get over it.
24:09And that you get for free.
24:12That isn't something you get by paying my tuition or expenses or attorneys.
24:16Or by writing a check.
24:18It's for free.
24:20Because my love is not for sale.
24:26You see?
24:29Here I am.
24:31Alone.
24:33You know things couldn't be worse.
24:34I'm alone.
24:35I have a scar in my head.
24:37Of course I'm facing a trial for something I didn't even do.
24:42And it's lonely.
24:45I can't talk about it because I should be quiet.
24:49But I prefer to continue alone.
24:53Look at this cell.
24:57This is my house.
25:00It's all I have.
25:02This is my house now.
25:04It's kind of ugly, isn't it?
25:08It may be ugly, but it's all I have.
25:11And now this visit has come to an end.
25:15Please, I'm sorry if I hurt you.
25:17It wasn't my intention.
25:17Please go now and leave me alone.
25:19Leave me alone and...
25:22Um, and...
25:24You tell Tony.
25:28Please tell him this for me.
25:31That I wish him all the happiness in the world.
25:34That his son is beautiful.
25:37And that he shows courage.
25:41And tell him that's from Gabrielle Swanson.
25:44And that it's free of charge.
26:04Andrew?
26:05Andrew's discharged?
26:06Yes, yes.
26:07They're releasing him today, but that's not my problem.
26:10Oh, Lucille.
26:11I'm desperate.
26:12I don't know what to do.
26:14Come on, Mariana.
26:15Calm yourself.
26:16Well, you know, since the accident, I haven't had one single solitary scent.
26:20Oh, no.
26:21Like today at our house.
26:22You know, we've been scraping by on practically nothing.
26:24The light bill, the food, the gas, the telephone, the water bill.
26:28Oh, my God, what am I going to do?
26:29Calm down, Mariana.
26:31I don't know.
26:33What am I supposed to do when they all come and ask me for money?
26:36And what'll I do?
26:37What'll I do?
26:38Andrew's coming home today and I don't have any food in the house.
26:40Please.
26:41Mariana, calm yourself.
26:42You know that?
26:43Andrew's always paid for the apartment and Nellie and me.
26:46And now how?
26:47How do we live?
26:48How do we live?
26:48Here, drink this. It'll soothe your nerves.
26:50Please calm yourself.
26:51There.
26:52That's better.
26:53The only thing I can think of is trying to rent the apartment.
26:57Because we could use the money to live on.
26:59But where on earth can we live without an apartment?
27:01What a nightmare.
27:04Mom.
27:04Then I thought maybe we could stay at Andrew's apartment across town.
27:08But you know something?
27:09Andrew's only put down a deposit.
27:10He hasn't paid for the new apartment yet.
27:12Oh, my God.
27:13And the bank's not going to leave us alone.
27:14They're going to hound us and demand payment and I don't know what to do.
27:17I don't have anything.
27:18Calm down.
27:19Take it easy. Calm down.
27:21One minute.
27:22Take a breath.
27:24Nellie, Andrew, and you will come here and live with us.
27:28Will what?
27:28You heard what I said, Marianne.
27:30Andrew, Nellie, and you come stay and live with us.
27:34No, we can't possibly do that.
27:35What are you talking about?
27:36But, of course, you can stay.
27:38It's no imposition.
27:39No, listen.
27:39Marianne, Mom's right.
27:40We'll make room.
27:41You're like family.
27:42We have to stick together.
27:44That's right.
27:44Oh, my God, Lucille.
27:45I don't know what to say.
27:47This is the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me.
27:49Oh, silly.
27:50There's nothing to say to me.
27:52You know what they say.
27:53Together, we're stronger.
27:55So, we'll do it together.
28:06How you doing, Nora?
28:07Miss Hurlings?
28:09You remember.
28:10It's important that I talk to Tony.
28:13I'm sorry.
28:13Mr. Clemente's not in.
28:15Ah.
28:17When do you expect him?
28:19Today.
28:20Actually, tonight.
28:21Hmm.
28:22From Santa Dominga, Nora?
28:24No.
28:25From New York.
28:27Perhaps you could come back.
28:28Tomorrow.
28:29Or the day after tomorrow.
28:32That's just what I'll do, Nora.
28:35I'll be back tomorrow.
28:38Or the day after tomorrow.
28:41Yes?
28:43Blanche, I want you to be the one to serve the dinner tonight.
28:46As Mr. Clemente always comments on how well you do it.
28:49Remember, when serving, please use your best discretion.
28:52As you know, Mr. Clemente is returning from a much-needed vacation.
28:56Will Mrs. Clemente be joining us?
28:57No.
28:58Madame will be staying in New York for a few more days.
29:00Ah.
29:00All right, everyone.
29:01Best foot forward.
29:02Yes.
29:02Let's go to work.
29:03Yes, sir.
29:04Hello.
29:05Looks like you have everything under control, Maurice.
29:07Pity the poor Clementes.
29:08What would they do without you to make everything work smoothly, huh?
29:11No, no.
29:11We'd better not think about that one, madam.
29:12It's best if we leave that one alone.
29:14Good afternoon, sir.
29:15Mm-hmm.
29:17Hello, Colette.
29:20You making sure everything's all right for my son, Tony?
29:23Well, I'm sure everything will be fine for Tony.
29:26Why, the long face.
29:27I'm just clowning around.
29:30You know that yesterday Margaret came to see me.
29:34Oh, well, look.
29:35Ashford Prescott's life is very complicated.
29:38Complicating it is Margaret finding her Ashford in an apartment owned by your son.
29:43At Tony's?
29:45Come on, Colette.
29:46Please, you're not going to swallow that garbage.
29:48Don't you know Margaret's stuff by now?
29:50Margaret is a woman who drinks.
29:52Margaret is a woman who likes to invent things.
29:54Yes, but the woman's not going to invent this.
29:56And if Tony goes and cons my daughter, he's going to have to deal with me.
30:00Because of her, he has gotten almost everything he has.
30:04Please, Colette.
30:05You are upset.
30:06And it's unfortunate that you've had to deal with these delicate personal situations.
30:11But please, I beg you, I ask you.
30:14Could we not bring up these unpleasantries when Tony comes home?
30:17You know they went on this trip to try to patch things up between the two of them.
30:21His reasons for going were honorable, to keep his marriage together.
30:25So please don't start something the minute he comes in the doorway.
30:28You Clementes are nothing but Romeos.
30:31Oh, no.
30:31That's why there's always a love tragedy right next to every one of you.
30:34That's right, like you.
30:35You and Mercedes Olivia, isn't that right?
30:38You know, I won't let her be hurt.
30:42I will not permit her to suffer like this.
30:44You're going to have to do me a favor.
30:46You're going to allow me to talk to Tony.
30:48He's going to listen.
30:49Because if he doesn't, I'll see to it that he suffers.
30:52I'll tell the newspapers all the dirt that goes on here.
30:55Because I won't sit by and watch your son break my daughter's heart,
30:58and you can tell him that for me.
31:00But Colette, but wait a second.
31:03You know, they didn't want to let me in, but David fixed it.
31:05You get it?
31:06Yeah, it's right here. It's simple.
31:08You just have to read the instructions.
31:12Gabrielle, see, you'll find out right away.
31:14Is it okay?
31:16It's okay. I can read.
31:21Gabrielle, Marianne is with Mom now.
31:24And Andrew's going to live at the house.
31:26With us at the house.
31:30Andrew, Nellie, and Marianne.
31:34There's one room that's vacant.
31:36They can use my room.
31:38But you'll be back there someday.
31:40So please, don't sound so maudlin.
31:45No, Julia.
31:48Probably too much time will pass.
31:52I'll stay here for a long time.
31:55Mom, I'll sit in this cell.
32:00I'll know the truth soon enough.
32:04And I'll know for sure.
32:07The news of a son.
32:10Maybe even a daughter.
32:15Gabriel, I don't know how, but I'm sure.
32:22Tony Clemente has to know.
32:26Ladies and gentlemen of the press.
32:29Mr. Clemente will not be making a statement at this time.
32:33You must understand, he's very tired, he's on a long trip and he has many things to do.
32:37It's Tony Clemente.
32:41No statements.
32:43Thank you, no statements.
32:45Thanks.
32:46Thanks.
32:47Thanks.
32:47Please, no statements right now.
32:49I'm too busy.
32:50I'm sorry.
32:51I'm back, Mr. Clemente.
32:52Please, no statements.
32:54I have nothing to say.
32:56Tony.
32:57Very good to have you back.
32:59Thanks.
32:59Gabriel Swanson has been arrested.
33:03You're a killer!
33:06I know what you did!
33:09You killed her, Tony!
33:10Her, not me!
33:12Hey!
33:13You stinking jerk!
33:15Tony lived here.
33:16Get away with this!
33:18He gets her mind back.
33:20Come on, let's get out of here.
33:35No comment.
33:37No comment.
33:38Mr. Clemente has no comment.
33:40Right this way, Chief.
33:43Welcome home, Mr. Clemente.
33:44Thanks, Gerald.
33:45To the house, please.
33:47Yes.
34:06Now welcome, Mr. Clemente.
34:13Mr. Clemente.
34:15Ladies and gentlemen, thanks for waiting for me.
34:17Maurice, serving my eggs tomorrow at 7.
34:20Tony, I have to talk to you.
34:21Colette, I don't have time.
34:22I'll see you tomorrow.
34:23To the library, please.
34:26Ma'am.
34:34Sit down there, Nora.
34:36Dad, close the door, please.
34:38Sure.
34:41Nora, I want you to record all this.
34:48Please, let's start.
34:52What happened to Gabrielle Swanson?
34:57Gabrielle Swanson.
34:58Gabrielle Swanson's in police custody, Tony.
35:02I've prevented a scandal with the media.
35:05Why is she in police custody?
35:09When you decided to leave town, that same night, Gabrielle Swanson had an altercation.
35:20She was with Andrew.
35:25Andrew Payne, your pilot.
35:31Go on, then.
35:35There was a break-in, and thieves attacked them.
35:40Apparently, they were both beat up, and they were hurt pretty bad.
35:48Is that what happened?
35:52Yes, Mr. Clemente.
35:56Tony, you know, we were all worried about the girl.
36:00And I was so concerned about her, I went to see her at the hospital.
36:05I felt it was right, considering your relationship.
36:08Enough of this mendacity.
36:10Everybody knows just how important this girl was to me.
36:15What happened to Gabrielle?
36:18Well, she... the damage was very bad.
36:21Actually, for a while there, they thought she would never recover from the operation.
36:26But she pulled through.
36:28She recovered.
36:30It was touch and go for quite a while.
36:32She only got out of the hospital yesterday.
36:35Um, naturally, Mr. Clemente, the company paid everything.
36:41For her and the pilot.
36:43And Andrew suffered brain damage.
36:46I don't give a damn about him.
36:48Why is Gabrielle incarcerated?
36:55Narcotic trafficking.
37:00That's a stupid...
37:01No, it isn't.
37:03Tony.
37:06Yesterday, a police commander came to see us.
37:09Uh, Commander...
37:10Furman.
37:12And they have proof, Tony.
37:16They wouldn't say what their proof is.
37:18But they haven't.
37:21This girl and Andrew were working together.
37:32Tony.
37:34They informed me that the corporation could be involved in this matter.
37:40The undercover detail of the police has found out that the barge that is under consignment to Clemente Enterprises is
37:48actually bringing in shipments...
37:50for Gabrielle.
37:53The corporation's involved!
37:55I am the corporation!
37:57And I make the decisions!
37:58This will ruin us!
38:00I'd like to see the evidence!
38:03Tony, excuse me.
38:06Look, what Wallace is saying is really the truth.
38:09It's unfortunate, but it is the truth.
38:16Have you offered her one of our attorneys?
38:18She turned me down.
38:19She said no.
38:22Why'd she say no?
38:23I don't know.
38:23I don't know.
38:24She didn't say.
38:29Well, gentlemen.
38:32Goodbye.
38:35Tony.
38:36I'll speak to you tomorrow.
38:43Arendon, don't you go.
38:46We have things to discuss.
38:51Tony.
38:53About that incident with that girl at the airport.
38:56The fact of the matter is, I don't know her or if I've ever seen her.
39:00But she sure seemed to know you and what she was...
39:02Her lunatics all over the place, Pop.
39:05She's not worth bringing up.
39:13You're home.
39:15My son, it's good to see you.
39:18Well, it doesn't feel too good to be home.
39:28Good night.
39:30Now you, Arendon.
39:36Good night.
39:46Now you, Arendon.
39:52.
39:52See you.
39:55Have a beautiful day.
39:59Go!
39:59Wait.
39:59Wait.
39:59Whatever the events has been sitting in the section of the room.
39:59All right.
40:00Everything's been dead.
40:00It's not right.
40:00But, they all have a happy suit.
40:01Right.erschel
