If JB does in fact win MVP... At the conclusion of the season, which Celtics star would have had a better NBA career?
Transcript
00:00This is Sean. Sean, good morning.
00:04Hey, good morning. So, I just, hypothetically, let's say Brown wins the MVP this year.
00:10Now, Brown's got an MVP, and he's also been a finals MVP.
00:14Maybe Jalen Brown's the alpha, and Tatum needs to take a backseat to him.
00:18I mean, maybe that's how the chemistry goes.
00:20What a great call, Sean. If Jalen Brown wins the MVP this year, which Wiggy would be enriched by.
00:26Yes, very much so.
00:27So, we're all rooting for it. So, if that happens, at that conclusion of the season,
00:33will Jalen Brown have had a better NBA career than Jason Tatum?
00:37Well, he would have had a better NBA season.
00:39No, no, career.
00:39No, not career, but season, for sure.
00:41Better resume.
00:44Yeah, he's at the hardware, so I'd give you that.
00:47But as far as career, just because you don't have certain hardware.
00:49One of them has already been the finals MVP.
00:51Right.
00:53Which, you know, that's a different conversation.
00:55It's not really.
00:56Yeah, because if you look...
00:57Both were able to play, both played, and one was the finals MVP.
01:01But if you look at one, one guy didn't get...
01:03One hit a clutch shot in order to make sure that you won the NBA.
01:06The other kind of disappeared.
01:07No, no, no.
01:08See, but that's where you're wrong.
01:10I'm not.
01:10That's where you're wrong.
01:11I'm not.
01:12And I'll fight you to the death on this one.
01:14The numbers don't lie.
01:15Statistically, there have been six guys to do, to average, I want to say, like, a double-double
01:22or a certain number.
01:23And all five, the six guys, all but one, didn't win finals MVP.
01:29And that was Jason Tatum.
01:31The others are like Larry Bird, Jordan, and Shaq.
01:34That's not going to fit on the resume part.
01:36We're just asking if they had a better career.
01:38I'll just say this.
01:39If I was gone for three months and Niko was in here and the ratings were doing better
01:45and he was filling in and doing a great job, I would have some concern.
01:49For you not to say you don't is...
01:52Well, that's a different scenario.
01:53The Celtics ratings are not doing better.
01:56They're not doing better than when Jason Tatum was playing prior to the injury.
02:02No, no, no, no, but you're talking about the number two seed and the way that the team
02:06has looked when Jason and Jalen were playing together prior, they were the number one seed.
02:13Right, but they also, that team around them on paper was way better.
02:18Yeah.
02:18They went 61-21 last year.
02:21That's, I think, could the, what's the Celtics record right now?
02:2340, I want to say they're 41-20.
02:26Yeah, 41-20.
02:27Oh, so they're going to be nowhere.
02:28But that's also a different conversation.
02:29Like, yes, okay, you're going to feel a certain type of way.
02:31Anybody would.
02:32But you'd still come back and not be worried about messing with...
02:35No, no, I...
02:36Because you know, you know that the way in which we all work together works well.
02:42So, like, you wouldn't be worried about chemistry.
02:44I think that's when Curtis is talking about it.
02:46The chemistry aspect, after you've played with somebody for so long,
02:49we've all worked together for almost five years, this group.
02:52Right.
02:53So we know the chemistry works.
02:54Yeah.
02:55So to then, it's different when talking about how many games they've won or ratings, whatever,
02:59and then your actual emotions towards it.
03:02Right, but the role would be, okay, so I get what you're saying, the chemistry level.
03:06So then the scenario would be like, if you guys were doing amazing and your role changed a little bit,
03:12everybody's role changed, and now I'm coming back, they're still going to be like,
03:17man, I don't want...
03:18This chemistry has been great.
03:20How do I now fit back into this?
03:22Right.
03:22You got Wally pipped.
03:23We have to take a quick break.
03:25You got it.
03:26If he just comes back, we can stop discussing this.
03:29Oh, we'll never stop discussing it, because even when he comes back,
03:32what's the basketball look like?
03:34There'll be another conversation that we discuss.
03:36And God forbid they're losing when he comes back.
03:38Right.
03:38Or if the roles have changed, and now maybe Jalen's shots have gone down.
03:43Oh, boy.
03:44Yeah, there'll be...
03:44That's going to be a nightmare scenario.
03:47Jason Tatum is like a whiny bitch.
03:49Nope, I was quoting someone.
03:51I was quoting...
03:52That is not nice.
03:56How did Coach K describe him when he was at Duke?
03:59I don't remember.
04:01Soft-ass St. Louis kid.
04:03Oh.
04:04Well, Coach K's scary.
04:05He said...
04:05Little whiny bitch.
04:06Huh?
04:07Coach K said that?
04:08Yes.
04:08I didn't hear that.
04:09But, I mean, he said he did it to motivate him, to make him...
04:13Oh, okay.
04:14Make him tougher.
04:15Okay.
04:15Did Coach K say it worked?
04:18I don't know whether it worked or not.
