00:00:54Nothing brings out the glamour and the glitter of Las Vegas like a world heavyweight championship fight.

00:01:00As the celebrities and paparazzi settle into their seats, they are hopeful of getting a glimpse of the gladiators on

00:01:06their way to the ring.

00:01:10A Mike Tyson vs. Evander Holyfield fight now seems like it has always been destined to be happening.

00:01:15But during the five-year odyssey up to tonight's main event, the inevitable at times really seemed almost impossible.

00:01:30It was announced today that Evander, the real deal, fully filled, will be defending his heavyweight titles against Iron Mike

00:01:35Tyson.

00:01:35If he did think he can beat me, we can go in the cellar and the winner that comes back

00:01:39up with the key is the champion.

00:01:43He said he hurt his way of whatever the situation was.

00:01:48Mike Tyson was arrested yesterday and hit him.

00:03:18But I'm like saying, I knew that wasn't true.

00:03:21Early this morning, former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was released from an Indiana State penitentiary.

00:03:29He's hoping to return to the ring in a quest to regain.

00:05:11Despite five years of turbulent events in and out of the ring for both fighters, the public never seemed to

00:05:16lose interest in this matchup.

00:05:18So you got to believe that Tyson versus Holyfield was always meant to be.

00:05:21And Freddie, what about the looming questions concerning the health of Holyfield?

00:05:25He's seemingly got it all.

00:05:26Fame, fortune, respect, championship belts.

00:05:28Why does he need to do this?

00:05:29I think he needs to do this like every great champion.

00:05:32Their competitive heart is so much, they can't believe the competition's over.

00:05:35The last guy to think he can't fight is a great champion.

00:05:38And so it happens that Holyfield has more heart than just about anybody I've ever seen.

00:05:43And he thinks he's got one more shot at the championship by beating Tyson.

00:05:47That's his heart.

00:05:48Which, by the way, has been checked out by every doctor in the world.

00:05:52And he's okay as far as the heart is concerned, organically.

00:05:56Do you think he's more at risk because of his courage, his courageous nature?

00:06:01I do.

00:06:01I think his heart has far outdistanced his body's ability to pay off the gamble.

00:06:06And when you don't pay off a gamble, you know what happens to you.

00:06:08Do you think Tyson may be underestimating the heart of Holyfield?

00:06:12No, I think he hopes and prays that he comes in and shows that heart.

00:06:17Because if he does, the fight's going to be much shorter.

00:06:20If he doesn't have to go looking for him and he gets that championship heart, we're going

00:06:23to see a blazing fight.

00:06:25It's more to his benefit if he shows heart.

00:06:27And despite the fact that Holyfield has passed all the medical tests, you have no doubt?

00:06:31I have no doubt whatsoever.

00:06:32If they pass all those tests, there can't be that many people guilty of malpractice.

00:06:36No.

00:06:36And what about Tyson's recent opponents?

00:06:38Bobby Chez, have they properly prepared him for Holyfield?

00:06:41You know, Steve, I don't think any of the opponents he's faced in his return to boxing

00:06:45can properly prepare him for Evander Holyfield.

00:06:47Evander Holyfield has accomplished so much more than all of them combined.

00:06:50However, Mike does the job and does the preparation in the gym, watching tapes, doing the work.

00:06:54He will be well prepared.

00:06:56In all due respect to you, Holyfield could not drop you.

00:07:00How can he hurt Mike Tyson?

00:07:01Well, that's a huge question mark.

00:07:03You know, Evander Holyfield threw 87 punches in our first round.

00:07:06More than he's ever thrown as a heavyweight in the history of his career as a heavyweight.

00:07:09And certainly, I got hit with quite a few of them.

00:07:12Unfortunately, for Holyfield, none of them hurt.

00:07:15He doesn't punch that hard.

00:07:15But yet, he's had Mercer, Moore, who we just saw, and Bo on the floor with the same punches.

00:07:20I think time is catching up with him.

00:07:21And he's going to have to get back to smart boxing.

00:07:23So you're saying it would be suicide for Holyfield to fight Tyson's type of fight?

00:07:28If he wants to win, yes, it would be suicide.

00:07:30So Holyfield's past his prime, even though you lost to him, as far as you're concerned.

00:07:34Well, yeah.

00:07:34See, I don't think being past your prime is a crime.

00:07:37And certainly, no one would argue that Holyfield is past his prime, as I am in many fighters.

00:07:40But some fighters will still produce and perform.

00:07:43And Evander, unfortunately, in recent fights, has shown some real wear and tear.

00:07:46The body is showing the ring wars.

00:07:47And that can be a problem.

00:07:49All right, here's the question.

00:07:50What does Evander Holyfield have to do to beat Mike Tyson?

00:07:53Evander Holyfield used to be a great boxer.

00:07:55He has to get back to great boxing.

00:07:57You look here on the telestrator as we punch it up.

00:08:00Here he is with Burt Cooper.

00:08:01He's got to keep him at that range.

00:08:03See that distance?

00:08:04He's got to keep Mike at bay.

00:08:05He's got the longer reach and height.

00:08:07He's got to use the jab to stick it out there.

00:08:09Pop him, but not just pop him.

00:08:10He's got to stuff him hard and fire with combinations.

00:08:13It can't be one punch at a time.

00:08:14He'll see a nice jab in the right hand.

00:08:16Then he'll bounce back out.

00:08:17Now watch.

00:08:17Up the middle, he's going to come with a right uppercut.

00:08:19He's got to sit inside the eye of the storm.

00:08:21He's got to get inside Mike's leverage.

00:08:24Also, a very dangerous thing to do and a dangerous place to be unless he does it right.

00:08:28But if he can do that and make Mike miss, he has a chance to take this fight deep and

00:08:33win a decision.

00:08:35Now, conversely, Mike Tyson, he's the quintessential seek-and-destroy fighter.

00:08:38He's going to close that gap the way he does.

00:08:40He moves his head from side to side, comes down, bends his knees, bang to the body with both hands

00:08:45as you'll see him do it.

00:08:46He pushes Frank back, keeps the momentum of the fighter going backwards so he can't hurt Mike.

00:08:51And he just does it so well.

00:08:52He's so powerful that a fighter, biggest Frank Bruno, here you see him getting pounded backward, can't come batter.

00:08:57Now, once Mike gets on the inside, here's where he is going to initiate the crudegra.

00:09:01That right uppercut up the middle, a vicious punch, one of his favorites.

00:09:05He throws three in a row, then follows with a left hook and continues to tee off on Frank Bruno,

00:09:09which he has done.

00:09:10And here you see it, it's done to so many fighters.

00:09:13This is what Mike does so well.

00:09:15Nobody has been able to stop him.

00:09:20And there are the finishing touches being applied by Iron Mike Tyson.

00:09:25Well, there's no doubt Holyfield will enter the ring with courage and determination, as we've been discussing.

00:09:31But perhaps gallantry can only take you so far when faced with unnatural power.

00:09:35No matter what the odds, Holyfield is full of surprises and of major significance, is not the type to lie

00:09:42And that says a lot, considering Tyson's latest questionable string of foes.

00:09:47One thing is almost for certain, Holyfield will not be intimidated.

00:09:50He was the underdog against Kaui, against Douglas, the second bow fight.

00:09:55All fights that he was supposed to lose, but he won.

00:09:58He's made a career of proving his critics wrong.

00:10:00On the other hand, Holyfield's critics feel that whatever he does, it won't be enough.

00:53:30fights if that's the case that may be the only chance that tyson has to pull this out fatigue has

00:53:36been a factor the last two fights with uh bow and uh chance i'll tell you what all of a

00:53:41my performance is looking a little better and better to me based on a comparison of

00:53:45the way let me tell you the guilt is all the rest of the heavyweights the guy that's tired here

00:53:49is tyson the guy that looks worn is tyson not holyfield holyfield's looking chipper and good

00:53:54so what we have here is a reversal of form because let me tell you let me let me say

00:54:01has not had but four nothing fights and he is not ready to fight the 12 real hard it may

00:54:08of fortune if holyfield continues to have his win when you come in after a long retirement fight as

00:54:19what we wanted to see well we're getting the bad news well we proposed that question at the outset

00:54:24did those four previous fights since prison prepare holyfield properly or tyson properly for

00:54:31holyfield and we're seeing the results holyfield

00:54:36solidly there the fact that the raciest was that it was the sun and it's just a question

01:01:11getting really tired we'll start with the problems beginning to kick in as far as Holyfield is concerned

01:16:36a lot of boxing but this is one of the biggest upsets i've seen it certainly is uh but that

01:16:41unpredictable the sport of boxing is and that's what makes it so sensational when everyone is crying and

01:16:46saying this is going to be a fair complete avander holyfield didn't get that message and so therefore

01:16:51he came out and he shocked the world with an upset that no one would ever believe that would happen

01:16:55but it happened and he brought a great great fight well this may be the start of one of those

01:17:30because everybody just knew that tyson was going to win but a vander rose to the occasion and he did

01:17:35an excellent job and he won the fight it was a shock around the world as you can see everybody's

01:17:40they're second guessing now and as you can see how the crowd of a boxing match is how fickle it

01:17:45goes from one to the other so that shows you the credibility of a boxer is in the center of

01:17:49the ring

01:17:50no matter what the odds makers say no matter what they predict what they write in the front

01:17:54when it comes to the crowd the crowd is going with the winner and this is something that you

01:17:58always will see in exciting in boxing were you surprised to see this crowd rise up for holyfield

01:18:02so strong and against tyson they say they seem to just scream for holyfield no it wasn't that they

01:18:08were against tyson this is the way the crowd goes when they is from the days of the romans when

01:18:13you

01:18:13know when they had the you weren't around now you weren't i might have been but you weren't the crowd

01:18:19goals you know what i mean and if you pass with the book with the bull fighter if he gets

01:18:23a pass

01:18:23they say ole ole but if the bull started getting him you know i mean they say the same thing

01:18:28you have here is the excitement the electricity the enthusiasm of boxing that makes it better than any

01:18:34sport in the world it's the type of sport that you don't if you run out of gas you can't

01:18:43there for your thing so this has been a great great fight a great evening of boxing and i think

01:23:02this guy had so this to me from what i can remember this is the most shocking thing that i've

01:23:07seen in heavyweight championship action well at the start of the night we posed the question would mike

01:23:12tyson underestimate the heart of evander holyfield i think not only did he underestimate the heart

01:23:17but he underestimated the power as well well i don't think he underestimated his heart or his skill

01:23:22i really believe that he knew what he had to do but evander fought he got back to what i

01:23:26was talking

01:23:26about earlier he has smart boxing in his capabilities he fought it out with riddick

01:23:30boll a few times and didn't have to sluggle him he forgot about smart boxing tonight he was back to

01:23:34smart boxing he boxed in a genius type fashion he did what he had to do he picked and chose

01:23:39perfectly executed perfectly the ultimate overachiever i've always said it i've always

01:23:43admired him i'd like another shot at him too so now what is next for evander holyfield do we see

01:23:49rematch or how about another date with michael mora i think it's probably be the biggest rematch in

01:23:55boxing history and then somewhere thereafter michael mora will factor in but i think right now
