00:00Jim, all right. Why Buffalo, Jim? Why did you set your roots in Buffalo?
00:04You know, most players don't live where they played. Why Buffalo for you?
00:09Well, number one, after I left college, I was drafted by Buffalo.
00:14And then once I signed with the USFL because I did not want to play here,
00:20I went to Houston to play for the Houston Gamblers of the USFL.
00:24And then after that late 40, we tried to work out a trade with either Pittsburgh or the Raiders.
00:32And our owner at the time, Ralph Wilson, said, you either sign with us or you're not playing.
00:38So I had no other choice. But to be honest with you, Dan,
00:42one of the best decisions I ever made in my life was becoming a Buffalo Bill in 1986.
00:48I've been here for 40 years now.
00:50And I mean, the people here are just amazing.
00:55And people say, well, why do you still live there?
00:57I said, because I can't take all the friends that I've gotten with me and take it somewhere else.
01:03So I, as I said before, I have enough people that are in Florida.
01:07My mother and father-in-law have a place in Bradenton that we're able to go to.
01:12My two best friends live in Miami, which I love going to.
01:16I have almost still a bunch of buddies down there.
01:19So I'm able to do that.
01:21Now my daughter, who is married, moved from Virginia, where she went to school at Liberty.
01:26She has got married.
01:27And now I'm celebrating my first grandchild.
01:30He's a boy, Bo Hunter Bean, B-E-A-U.
01:35And his middle name is, of course, my son who's in heaven now.
01:39So Bo Hunter Bean is now going on eight months, and he's doing well.
01:44And that's some of the health issues he had early on.
01:47But he's kicked all that.
01:49Everything is good now.
01:50Thank you, good Lord.
01:51And here we're going to be celebrating his eighth month coming up in just a few days.
01:56Absolutely.
01:57Bill's Mafia.
01:59Talk to me about Bill's Mafia, Jim.
02:01I mean, it's one of the great fan bases in the country.
02:05Well, it was Bill's Mafia, even though it was not called that, back when I played.
02:11I mean, Bill's fans do so much traveling.
02:14Mourinho used to hate when I called, back in the day, I called the old, I don't even know what,
02:21I think it's Hard Rock Stadium now or something like that.
02:25Yes.
02:25We used to call it, the people in Buffalo called it Rich Stadium South,
02:30because the stadium that I played in was called Rich Stadium, and then it went on to be the Ralph.
02:36And then, of course, it is now Highmark Stadium, even though we played our last game,
02:43the last season in that stadium.
02:45I don't know what they're going to do.
02:47I think they're going to implode it and bring it down and use it for parking.
02:51But we'd move into our new stadium start next year.
02:54But the Bill's Mafia, they were amazing when I played, even though they weren't called that.
03:00I love it, because I don't know about you, Dan, but growing up, watching all those New York mob movies,
03:06how tough those guys were, I used to love it.
03:10And I love that it's called Bill's Mafia now, and the fan base here, it's unmatched.
03:16Even though there's a lot of stadiums that I played in that were amazing.
03:21And Kansas City has great fans, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Cleveland.
03:27I mean, there's a lot of great, great fan bases, but as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing like the
03:33Bill's Mafia.
03:34A minute here, Jim, Josh Allen, how great a player is he?
03:39Amazing.
03:40I mean, last year, I thought it might have been the year.
03:45I looked at the schedule.
03:46The schedule was really in favor of us.
03:49I thought we were going to do it.
03:53Unfortunately, as we well know, as I well know, playing the game, one play can be the difference between winning
03:59and losing.
04:00And it just wasn't meant to be.
04:04And this year, their schedule is tougher.
04:06We're not sure we know who we're playing, but know when we're playing them.
04:12So we'll see.
04:13Again, it's the old cliche that players use.
04:16It's one game at a time, one year at a time.
04:18And I hope next year is the year.
04:21But as a former player, you never count your chickens before their hats.
04:26And you just, you know, take it one game at a time.
04:28And we'll see what happens.
04:29But Josh Allen is the guy.
04:32Not only that we needed here as our quarterback and as our leader, this city needed a guy like him.
04:39And he's everything you'd want him to be.
04:43And now it just takes everybody pulling together.
04:45We'll see what happens in that new stadium.
04:47You never know.
04:48It might be the thing that we needed.
04:50We'll see.
04:51We'll see what happens in that new stadium.
