00:00So, Adam, we got the news today that Joe Brady, to I guess somewhat of a surprise with the search and sort of odd search that the Bills had, they could have chosen basically anyone for this job.
00:12This is a very highly coveted job, a new stadium, the best quarterback in the league, arguably.
00:18And they land in their own living room here with Joe Brady, who, by the way, I like a lot.
00:23I mean, Joe Brady gets a lot of credit for Joe Burrow's success at LSU.
00:27A lot of folks thought he got a raw deal in Carolina as well.
00:31I don't know if that's out there or if that's real or not.
00:33You would have to tell me.
00:34But, you know, certainly I don't think that the Bills' problems were the offense.
00:39I think the problems were the personnel somewhat.
00:43And I think maybe the defense, too.
00:45I mean, you can weigh in better than me on this.
00:47All right, lots to unpack here.
00:48All right, let me first start off what happened in Carolina because in my reporting on this three years ago,
00:53so what happened with Joe Brady with the Panthers, they fired him during the season,
00:57is they felt he was not getting the pass targets of the football.
01:00They just, he had trouble doing that.
01:03Now, he's got a lot of energy.
01:04You know, he's rebounded incredibly well.
01:06You got to give him credit despite that setback.
01:09Goes to Buffalo.
01:10They went from being a big-time passing offense in terms of volume,
01:14and they took it off of Josh Allen's shoulders to a degree.
01:19And we'll talk about that in a second, kind of what their plan is going forward.
01:22But they became the supreme running team with James Cook, Dalvin Cook's younger brother,
01:27and he's been one of the best backs in the league.
01:29It's been a great story.
01:30No one saw this coming.
01:31They made a decision offensively.
01:35Now, part of it was, if you look at the, this is what you were talking about.
01:38Let's address this.
01:39Part of it was, if you addressed the pass target group, Craig, not very good.
01:45As one league source told me, they got a bunch of number threes who were actively
01:49in number twos and number ones for them because they don't have enough talent receiver.
01:54And I know Brandon Bean, they thought that, you know, Coleman,
01:58Keon Coleman would have been that guy.
02:00It hasn't happened yet.
02:01They drafted to be their number one receiver, their ex-receiver.
02:05Khalil Shakir is that guy.
02:06Good football player, but a great draft pick as a mid-rounder.
02:10But he doesn't command the football like Coleman was supposed to.
02:14So the thing that Joe Brady will do now as the head coach, he's got to bring this thing along.
02:20He's got to be collaborative here now with the general manager, and they've got to figure out how to get the passing game better.
02:27And Bean, he addressed some of the questions very well last week.
02:31The reporters came at him pretty hard about, where's the talent level of this football team?
02:35It's got to be better.
02:36It's just not good enough.
02:37You don't, though.
02:39You don't want it to have to come down to what Josh Allen did at Jacksonville, where he was superhuman, a superhero.
02:46You don't want him to have to do that to win a football game.
02:49And that's not Joe Brady's fault.
02:50To me, Brandon Bean has to do a better job of getting better talent.
02:55That's going to be the key here for Joe Brady going forward here, a young head coach, one of the youngest in the National Football League.
03:01What are you going to do to help the head coach succeed?
03:02What are you going to do to help the head coach succeed?
