00:00It's a rite of passage now to fire a coach on a Monday.
00:03How many Mondays in a row are we going to have coaches fired?
00:05Are you telling me that, you know, maybe the Rams lose and they fire McVay on Monday?
00:11Like, I don't get it.
00:13Sean McDermott is out as head coach of the Bills.
00:17And, you know, McDaniel had a winning record and he certainly didn't win a lot.
00:21But McDermott did.
00:23Tomlin did.
00:24Harbaugh did.
00:25Like, a lot of winning coaches are now available.
00:28And what can you tell us about the future for McDermott and the Buffalo Bills at this point as they look for their next head coach?
00:36Yeah.
00:36So what made this one interesting is that, yeah, Sean McDermott, they talk about winning.
00:40And he and Brandon Bean came in together from the Panthers.
00:44McDermott, during the regular season, 48 games over 500, 8-8 during the playoffs.
00:48But the key is they couldn't get to the Super Bowl.
00:52To me, and we'll never truly know this because teams just don't wake up.
00:56The owners, in this case, Terry Bagula, doesn't wake up in the morning and says, you know what?
00:59I want to fire the head coach.
01:01Right, right.
01:01It's generally over a series of weeks and sometimes months that it's on his mind.
01:05But there was a belief around the league as long as they could get to the Super Bowl, not necessarily win it.
01:09McDermott could have come back for another season.
01:11But it didn't happen.
01:12But the fascinating part about this is, in Bagula's statement, and this is, you've got to pay attention to these things.
01:20These things mean something.
01:22That basically, the coaches now, whoever the new head coaches will report, based on the language in the statement, will report now to Brandon Bean, the general manager.
01:32He got a promotion, by the way.
01:34He got a new title added to the general manager part, director of football operations, the general manager.
01:39So, he's got a lot of power now, which he didn't have.
01:42He originally, okay, before this, today, he had control of the 53.
01:47He didn't have control of the coaches.
01:48And I don't know that he had control over, you know, who played or who didn't.
01:53That's usually a coaching decision.
01:55But pretty much now, he's got all the juice.
01:56Listen, it's important, by the way, for the new head coach, or anyone who's going to interview to know that.
02:02Coaching agents are going to want to know that.
02:04Who's got the power in the building?
02:06And who does my client report to?
02:08And now, it's very clear they report to Brandon Bean.
02:10Coaching agents are going to want to know that.
