00:00Investigating the death of a 79-year-old man who was found unresponsive at a senior daycare facility in Dabadi
00:06after marks of violence were observed on his body.
00:09The deceased has been identified as Methodius Matura of Lopino Road, Aruka.
00:15Matura, police suspect, died as a result of injuries sustained in December during a home invasion.
00:21However, a post-mortem is needed to confirm this.
00:24Around midday on February 17th, officers responded to a report of a sudden death at the best-of-the-best
00:31senior daycare, Crescent Drive, Mausica Road.
00:34On arrival, they met a nursing home attendant who led them to a room on the western side of the
00:39building where Matura was seen lying on a bed.
00:42He was last seen alive around 11.40 a.m. by the attendant.
00:46Officers observed marks of violence on the deceased's upper chest, right hand, right hip and both lower limbs.
00:54When questioned, the attendant stated that Matura had been admitted to the facility on January 6th following a home invasion
01:02where he was assaulted.
01:03Police were told that he was seen on January 28th by the facility's attending physician.
01:17Police said Javier Richards, 23, who lived in the area, was walking along the roadway around 10.45 p.m.
01:24when he was approached by a man unknown to him.
01:26He reported hearing two loud explosions and subsequently felt a burning sensation to his left upper thigh.
01:33The assailant led the scene.
01:34A resident of the area transported Richards to the Arema Health Facility for medical attention.
01:39He was listed in a stable condition and was expected to be transferred to the Mount Hope Hospital.
01:45Investigations are continuing.

01:56According to police reports, Vijay Nanan and his Venezuelan employee were both shot when two bandits, one armed with a

02:04entered their tents located opposite Gull City Mall, Laramene.
02:09Nanan was shot once to the pelvis area, while the female employee was shot on her left arm,
02:14before the bandits stole the cash on site and escaped.
02:19Both victims were taken to hospital, but Nanan died while still watered on Monday morning.
02:25Speaking off camera with TV6 News today, Nanan's 31-year-old Venezuelan wife said
02:30she was in the back tent on Saturday night packing some bulbs away when the bandits entered and grabbed her
02:36fist.
02:37Her first.
02:38She said she dropped the bulbs and started to scream.
02:41That's when, that's what alerted her husband and the workers who were both in the front tent.
02:48She says her husband picked up a cutlass and a struggle ensued during which the shots were fired.
02:54Also speaking with TV6 News today, president of the greater San Fernando area of commerce,
02:59Kiran Singh, condemned the businessman's killing and called for law enforcement to act swiftly
03:05and set the right example.
03:06He says criminals continue to hold citizens to ransom through these acts of violence.
03:13And we really, really impress upon the police to really bring these persons to justice,
03:21these criminals, and that the law demonstrates to criminals that crime does not pay
03:29and that they will be dealt with the harshest means available within the judicial system.
03:37This society has had enough of crime, and we must stand up against those who feel that they can take
03:44a man's life for a few dollars.
