00:00Good morning, Viva Technology 2022, and welcome to the Discovery Stage, the place to be for all of your demos
00:10on the future of robotics, drones, sustainable cities, wearables, all kinds of really great tech and innovative ideas, solutions here
00:21showcased in what is the best stage in Viva Tech.
00:27Oh, yes. And so nice to see all of you here. I know it's starting a bit slowly this morning,
00:33Friday, getting tired. It's the last B2B day. And so nice to see people's faces without a mask on. That's
00:41so nice. Oh, some of us are still wearing masks, but you know, that's cool. Kind of like a ninja.
00:46I like it. So let's get this show on the road.
00:50My name is Michael Rickwood, by the way. I will be your host today. And also for those of you
00:56who are going to be tomorrow, I will also be here and I'm going to be speaking in French. So
00:59that's also going to be a spectacle in itself.
01:01But without any further delay, let's get this show on the road. And I would like to introduce this first
01:07startup, which frankly has, I think, the coolest motorbike I've seen in this place.
01:13And it is 100% electric and very, very promising. Here to tell you more is Simon from Dab Motors.
01:23Thank you, Michael. Good morning, everybody. I'm Simon. I'm the founder of Dab Motors. I hope you're having a great
01:32show.
01:33We are really proud to be here at Viva Tech with our electric motorcycle.
01:44So Dab Motors is a French electric manufacturer based in France. And Gods of Design gave us one mission, which
01:51is to provide thrills on wheels to bold humans.
01:56We humans love and need thrills almost every day while commuting, moving, walking. And thrills means something exciting between the
02:04wheels.
02:04It's really not the same journey when you're riding, you know, your average scooter, which is just okay, and you're
02:12dreaming bike.
02:12You shouldn't have to choose with basic choice. You should just ride your dreamy bike all the time and give
02:20you goosebumps at work and give you the smiles.
02:22And we have to be honest, street electric motorcycle is not there yet. If you look at the current electric
02:30motorcycle market and brands, they are not really satisfying their bold audience.
02:35You always have to make a compromise when you're looking for an electric motorcycle. Compromise on the brand, on the
02:42design, on the offering.
02:44And this is why we're here. We want to become the coolest electric motorcycle on earth.
02:52And we started with this very beautifully designed electric motorcycle. We make absolutely no compromise on product design, on branding,
03:01on communication.
03:01This is an award-winning design. We just been awarded with the Red Hat Design Award from Germany, which is
03:09one of the best design awards in the world.
03:12The bike is completely configurable online. You can customize your colors, your seats, your size, all kinds of options, and
03:21each bike which came out of the factory is really unique.
03:25So the whole bike is made in France from chassis to battery to the bodywork. It's really a special piece.
03:32You can ride it without any motorcycle license.
03:34We are targeting non-bikers. We are targeting creative achievers, humans, men, women, and people loved it.
03:44In 2022, the biggest celebrity owned DAB from Lewis Hamilton to Billie Eilish to G Balvin.
03:51And we were really proud to have such audacious customers who are supporting us in our journey.
03:57Iconic brand also wants to collaborate with DAB. I created DAB more like a fashion brand rather than a traditional
04:04motorcycle brand.
04:06We want to become viral and we are doing collaboration with this kind of iconic brand.
04:11So we designed this very special bike recently with Burberry and Ricardo Tisci, the artistic director.
04:17And people are really eager for more DAB. We've been featured on almost every kind of magazine from Vogue to
04:25Automoto.
04:26And we are really proud to be receiving so much love and enthusiasm from this product.
04:35And let me explain how we are going to creatively kill the competition.
04:39As I said, we make absolutely no compromise. We are designing bold products, avant-garde design,
04:44which puts you always one step away from everyone and also for us.
04:49Like we build motorcycle, we are also building a strong brand, a viral brand image in spite of the fashion
04:56industry.
04:56We are communicating about our strong culture, collaborating with brands like Burberry.
05:03And it enables us to reach people like celebrities who are really supporting our brand and help us to become
05:12the coolest brand on earth.
05:13And finally, we also make a beautiful customer experience, fully digitalized where you can configure and co-create your own
05:23bike.
05:23Each bike which came out of the DAB Motors factory is unique.
05:29And as I built DAB as a fashion brand, we also sell items like our motorcycle like fashion items.
05:37We are fully digital. We have a physical point and servicing point.
05:42And as I said before, you have this whole experience, which is really close to the Nike ID experience where
05:48you are configuring your sneakers,
05:49except it's supplied on the motorcycle.
05:53And obviously all this work comes with a great team.
05:56We are a team of passionate designers, makers, technicians, sales, entrepreneurs,
06:01working every day to give you the best ride you ever had and the best endorphins you will ever have
06:06in your life.
06:07If I have to summarize our current stage, so we designed our proof of concept with that we released last
06:14year, last summer.
06:15Then Burberry reached out to DAB to produce this very unique limited edition of 20 prototypes,
06:22which are basically replicas. And meanwhile, we are working on the mass production model,
06:28which will be out in six months for pre-order and in 12 months will be available for the public.
06:36I will end my presentation with a short video, which will show you the whole work we made with Burberry,
06:44a fashion giant.
06:45It was really interesting to merge two universes, two creative universes, and I will let you enjoy this short video.
06:52Thank you.
07:06Thank you.
07:07Thanks for listening.
07:09Thanks for listening.
07:11I'll see you next time.
07:11Bye.
07:12Bye.
07:18Bye.
07:27Bye.
07:29Bye.
07:30Bye.
07:37Bye.
08:00Bye.
08:10Thank you very much.
08:14Okay.
08:15Thank you, Simon.
08:16All right.
08:16So we have a couple of more minutes.
08:19So for questions, I just want to firstly say, so this is a very nice looking bike.
08:23How much is this particular model going for?
08:28This one is very unique.
08:30This is the only full block Burberry motorcycle we will ever build.
08:34This is a bike which is available for 30,000 euros.
08:38It's basically built like the original concept and completely handmade.
08:41Yeah.
08:42Made for collector.
08:44Okay.
08:44And so, all right, obviously 30,000 is a lot for many people.
08:48But what about when the bike becomes commercialized for everyone?
08:52What's the price then?
08:53So meanwhile, working on those bikes, we're also working on our production bike, which will be available for 10,000
08:59euros.
09:0010,000 euros?
09:00Yeah.
09:01Okay.
09:01All right.
09:02Another question.
09:03Are you guys looking for any investment at the moment or any partners?
09:06Yeah, sure.
09:06We are mainly at Vivatech for that to meet new investors.
09:10Yeah.
09:10And the whole fundraising will help us to industrialize our through-all production.
09:16Okay.
09:16So basically looking for investment to help you to get this production up and running.
09:21Okay.
09:21Great.
09:22Any questions from the audience?
09:25Thank you.
09:26Thank you.
09:26Any questions from the audience about this wonderful bike?
09:31Please.
09:32Don't be shy.
09:33Yeah.
09:34Yeah.
09:34Good.
09:36From a fellow entrepreneur.
09:39How fast is it again?
09:41It can go up to 110 kilometers per hour.
09:44So it's a 125cc?
09:47Yeah.
09:47You can ride it without any motorcycle license.
09:50That's the whole point.
09:51You don't need any license to ride it.
09:54Sounds good.
09:55Yeah.
09:56That's right.
09:57So it goes 120 kilometers and you don't need a license.
10:00So I can see every single person who wants to enter into the driving market at the age of 17,
10:0518, who can't afford an electric car, this is quite an opportunity.
10:09Anyone else have any questions?
10:18No questions for this bike?
10:20All right.
10:21Okay.
10:22We'll leave it there.
10:22Thanks very much.
10:23Thanks, Michael.
10:24Thanks, Michael.
10:25Thanks, Michael.
11:12Thank you.
11:16Hi everyone, my name is Carsten.
11:18I am co-founder of Aegis Rider.
13:32Le premier est l'adaptive heads-up display.
13:35Donc, vous avez regardé l'animation,
13:37et ce que vous pouvez voir ici,
13:38c'est que, comme le rider accélérera,
13:40le heads-up display se déroule.
14:11customer survey,
14:12et nous avons demandé,
14:13« Qu'est-ce que vous pensez de ce concept,
14:15de ce heads-up display ? »
14:16Et vous pouvez voir sur le côté,
14:18que nous sommes très heureux
14:19avec les résultats,
14:20que, vous savez,
14:20si vous addz-up
14:21les très importants et les importants,
14:22vous obtenez plus 90%
14:24de potentiel customers qui disent,
14:25« C'est génial,
14:26nous aimons de voir ce dans le produit. »
14:30Moving up next,
14:31nous avons la simple navigation.
14:32Et ici, c'est exactement
14:34ma pointe d'abord.
14:35Les 3D arrows
14:36sont anchés sur la route.
14:38Donc, même si je vais
14:40left et je vais
14:41tiltre mon head,
14:42les arrows sont anchés sur la route
14:44parce que ça visualise
14:45où vous avez besoin.
14:48Et si vous avez un 2D HUD,
14:50ce qui signifie que
14:51si vous avez une tête
14:52et vous regardez,
14:52tout de suite,
14:53l'arrivée serait dans le sky
14:54et vous n'auriez pas
14:55de voir où il devrait être.
14:59Et, last mais non plus,
15:01nous avons un concept de safer,
15:03où notre système
15:04utilise l'uniforme map data,
15:07et il peut détecter,
15:08quand vous êtes en train d'un curve,
15:09et que vous ne pouvez pas
15:10voir l'end de la curve,
15:12parce que la technique de l'eye-garde
15:13est très importante
15:15en tant qu'un motocycliste.
15:16et quand vous commencez,
15:18l'angle et la speed
15:19à laquelle vous commencez
15:20la curve
15:21sont très important
15:50from a safety perspective.
15:52très intuitif,
15:53l'eye-adoption
15:54only took seconds,
15:55c'est naturel
15:56dans votre environnement.
15:56et c'est ce que vous voulez
15:58de l'augmenter
15:59réalité heads-up display.
16:02En addition
16:03à ce que vous avez vu,
16:05nous avons un app
16:05qui basically
16:08vous donnez
16:09advanced AI rider statistics.
16:10Vous pouvez comparer
16:11votre performance
16:12à un expert AI rider.
16:14So, par exemple,
16:15si vous avez un certain
16:17road trip
16:18et vous voulez,
16:19pour exemple,
16:20faire un certain speed,
16:21il peut donner
16:21l'optimale trajectoire.
16:23Il peut dire
16:23si vous êtes plus
16:24slower
16:24que ce expert AI rider.
16:26c'est détaillé information
16:28sur votre performance,
16:29votre speed,
16:29votre angle,
16:31votre brake momentum,
16:32votre throttle, etc.
16:33Nous avons un certain nombre
16:34de personnalisation.
16:36Donc, si vous avez
16:36des preferences
16:37en termes de l'U.I.,
16:38vous pouvez adapter.
16:39Si vous n'aime pas
16:40les lane shooters,
16:41vous pouvez l'utiliser
16:41parce que chaque motocycle
16:42est différent.
16:44Et puis,
16:45il y a la communauté
16:45et aussi la trip
16:46planning aspect
16:47où, si vous voulez
16:48plus scenery
16:49ou plus speed,
16:49vous pouvez select
16:50ça dans l'app
16:50et ça va automatiquement
16:52suggérer
16:52où vous devriez.
16:56Et,
16:58except for
16:58the obvious case
17:00as a motorcyclist
17:01that people
17:01will be wearing
17:02this helmet,
17:03there's a couple
17:04of use cases
17:05that we see
17:06are quite present.
17:07The first one
17:08being the racing case.
17:10We're actually
17:10discussing this
17:12opportunity
17:13right now
17:14with some market players
17:15and the idea
17:16is that
17:17in the racing scenario
17:18there's more information
17:20that you actually
17:21want in your field
17:21of view
17:22such as
17:22your current lap time
17:24or your projected
17:25lap time
17:25based on the trajectory
17:26that you're on
17:27right now
17:28or your brake momentum
17:29when you go
17:30into your curve,
17:30the acceleration
17:31when you come
17:32out of a curve.
17:33This is all
17:33very vital information
17:35for race drivers
17:36and we're developing
17:38concepts right now
17:39for how this
17:39can be visualized
17:40with our system.
17:42Another use case
17:43would be the
17:44customized brand experience
17:46so that when you're
17:47a loyal BMW driver,
17:49a loyal Ducati,
17:50KTM, etc.
17:51that the design
17:52from a UI, UX perspective
17:54is aligned
17:55with the brand identity
17:57and the brand colors
17:58of that motorcycle brand.
18:00And the last one
18:01which is
18:02in my opinion
18:03probably if
18:04you know
18:05probably the most important
18:06is a connected vehicle status
18:08which means
18:10that if we're able
18:11to access
18:12certain sensor
18:13and radar data
18:14on the motorbike
18:15itself
18:16we can offer
18:17more advanced features
18:19to be visualized
18:20such as blind spot detection
18:22or warning
18:23if somebody
18:23from behind
18:24approaches too fast.
18:25There's certain data
18:26that we need
18:26that detects
18:27difference
18:28in the length
18:31of your vehicle
18:32and the one
18:33in your surroundings
18:34so this is the data
18:36that we need
18:36that would allow us
18:37to do these enhanced features
18:39from a connected vehicle approach.
18:42And then to finish up
18:44what's our current status
18:45and roadmap
18:45this is a prototype
18:47we're working very hard
18:48on finalizing the technology
18:49by the end of this year
18:51not finalizing
18:52but more optimizing
18:53if you put on this helmet
18:55the features I showed you
18:56is already what you see
18:57and we're just optimizing
18:59in terms of some form factors
19:00and how the electronics
19:01itself all work together
19:02and we're hoping
19:04and we're quite confident
19:05that next year
19:07just before the motorcycle season
19:08you'll be able to
19:10buy this helmet.
19:11Thank you very much.
19:14Okay.
19:14Thank you very much, Karsten.
19:16Just a question.
19:16So what's it made from?
19:18Excuse me?
19:18What's it made from?
19:19Well, this is a full carbon helmet.
19:22Okay.
19:22And then we...
19:23So carbon fiber?
19:24No, it's full carbon.
19:26Oh, full carbon.
19:27Okay.
19:28Okay.
19:28Is that what most motorcycle helmets
19:30are made from?
19:30Well, carbon is the premium motorcycle helmet.
19:34Okay.
19:34So if you were to buy
19:35this next helmet
19:36which is an X-Wed II
19:37it would already cost you like 600
19:40if you go to your Louis
19:41or your Polo retailer
19:42that's the retailer's price
19:44for a full carbon.
19:45Okay.
19:45Can you give us an idea
19:47when it goes to market
19:48how much it's going to cost?
19:50Do you have any idea?
19:51It's going to be expensive.
19:52It's going to be four digits for sure.
19:55Where exactly the price point will be
19:56also depends on some of the components
19:58because some of you may be aware
20:00AR optics technology
20:01is evolving rapidly
20:02and some of the price points
20:04are also evolving rapidly.
20:06So it's quite hard to say
20:07where the eventual price point
20:08of this technology will end up.
20:10but it's going to be
20:10in the four digit area
20:12for sure.
20:12Okay.
20:13All right.
20:13Thank you very much
20:13for answering that costume.
20:15Are you just riding
20:16ladies and gentlemen?
20:17Thank you.
20:18See you tomorrow.
