Transcript
00:00Enough rain to cause flooding and landslides, plus enough snow to close some of the passes.
00:03It's a stormy week in California, and you're going to feel the impacts.
00:07If you live in Southern California or the Central Valley, you're looking at 1-2 inches of rain.
00:10Along the Central Coast and into Northern California, that jumps to 2-4 inches.
00:14We're especially worried about burn scar areas and have already seen evacuation warnings issued in places like Pacific Palisades.
00:20Then there's the snow. Snow levels are dropping fast.
00:23Major Sierra passes like Donner Pass on I-80 could see 4-8 feet of snow through Wednesday.
00:28Then it just keeps falling. We're talking 8-12 feet by the end of the week for many of these
00:33passes.
00:34So, of course, travel could shut down at times. Some passes may close even more than once.
00:38And it's not just the Sierra. Snow levels in Southern California could fall to 2,000-3,000 feet.
00:43That puts the Grapevine on I-5, plus the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountains at risk for slick winter
00:48driving conditions.
00:49Now, for some of these areas, this could be the first real accumulating snow of the season.
00:52So, the upside, California's snowpack has been running well below average.
00:56All this snow could help boost the state's summer water supply.
00:59So, this week, you're balancing flooded roads at lower elevations and feet of snow in the mountains.
01:04But we need the rain and snow.
