00:01Careful, careful! That other point's naive as well.
00:04It's all right.
00:06I've always had a steady hand.
00:09I've always had to thread my mother's needle when she was sewing on my buttons.
00:13You male chauvinist pig, you should have sewn your own buttons.
00:37Let's go!
00:53Petra, shut down Sideburner 3.
00:56Paul, respond please.
00:58Mercedes, respond please.
01:02Petra, rotate cameras until you locate Repair Team Starboard Sideburner 3.
01:10Paul?
01:12Come in please.
01:14Paul, come in please.
01:17Oh my god.
01:28What's happening?
01:29Look, why'd the alarm run off?
01:31Do you see the acceleration stations?
01:33Daniel?
01:36How come the engine was primed to fire?
01:39Of course Vectors demanded using Side Truster 3. That's why we needed it repaired in the first place.
01:45Well couldn't you shut down the program?
01:46Well, do the entire slingshot on manual.
01:50I told him not to shut down the emergency override.
01:55But he turned it off.
01:57Yeah.
01:58Anything from the May Day transponders?
02:00Nothing.
02:01A blast like that would destroy all comms.
02:03I told him not to turn it off.
02:05Petra, priority call to all stations.
02:07Consent Professor Brelin.
02:08Please contact the bridge immediately.
02:11What are you doing?
02:12He's got to know what's going on.
02:13No, just because...
02:14He's got to know what's going on.
02:17Those suits can stand up to 3,000 degrees.
02:22Petra, get me the medical officer.
02:25Prepare for emergency EVA.
02:27I'm going to go ahead and get them in.
02:28No, you're not.
02:30I am.
02:34Priority call for Professor Brelin.
02:36Priority call.
02:38Sir, come on my way.
02:38Ah, Christoph.
02:39Is it important?
02:40Come into me tomorrow, Daniel.
02:43Yeah.
02:44Tomorrow will be just fine.
02:48At least the burn didn't sever the life support lines.
02:51It's the only thing you can be grateful for.
02:54I think I ought to go out with the doctor.
02:56Give that to me.
02:57You stay on the bridge.
02:58I should do the EVA.
02:59I was on watch at the time.
03:00It's my responsibility.
03:01Stay on the bridge with Mr Lewis, Commander, okay?
03:04Okay.
03:04I told Paul not to turn off the emergency override.
03:07Petra will confirm.
03:08I thought you just said it was your responsibility.
03:10Yes, but as watch officer at the time...
03:12Start pre-breathing or you don't go out.
03:14You should have been keeping a more careful watch.
03:16How could you let such a basic error be made?
03:17I did.
03:18I told them to be careful.
03:19Careful!
03:20Careful!
03:21I can only assume that the laser knife short-circuited the system.
03:25Elementary precautions seem to have been thrown to the wind.
03:28Not by me.
03:29Look, will you stop talking and get this on?
03:31How much of the burn did they take?
03:32Paul was nearest.
03:33He took it in the chest.
03:33Mercedes was slightly to one side.
03:35Are they responding?
03:35No.
03:38They're comms linked down.
03:40They've no clamps.
03:43And they're not moving.
03:45These things happen.
03:47It doesn't have to change anything between you and Jean-Francois.
03:50Hello.
03:52I was going to finish my degree.
03:54Jean was going to finish his thesis and then we were going to get married.
03:59There's no reason to abandon any of that.
04:01Bex, she's going to have the baby.
04:03You know she is.
04:04She can't decide.
04:05Oh, she will.
04:06Just to hold on to Jean-Francois.
04:08Look, I've told you she doesn't want him back.
04:13She told me she doesn't want him back, but she hasn't forgiven him.
04:17I mean, this way she can get back at him forever.
04:19Oh, come on, Victoria.
04:21Look, I'm sure it'll sort itself in a couple of weeks.
04:24She's pregnant with Jean-Francois' child.
04:27Well, yes, but...
04:28There's no buts.
04:29And it's all over.
04:32Everything's ruined.
04:34Maybe she feels the same way.
04:40Yes?
04:41Emergency. We need plasma oxygen and inflatable splints of the alarm.
04:44Why isn't Melody helping me?
04:46It was her idea.
04:47I didn't even want to be social secretary.
04:49Yes, you did.
04:50You really wanted to.
04:51Yeah, okay.
04:52I like to party as much as the next girl.
04:54Well, you know, Melody's got a lot on her mind.
04:57All I know is my campaign manager is out of it.
05:00And tomorrow I've got to make my pitch in front of the whole college.
05:02And if I make a mess of it, you'll all end up with Anna Begani as social secretary.
05:07Yeah, it's all Jean-Francois's fault for getting Melody pregnant.
05:10Men.
05:11Afternoon.
05:13What's the matter?
05:14Men.
05:14Any men in particular?
05:17We were just saying that men are to blame for everything.
05:20What do you think?
05:21Should Jean-Francois come back and do the decent thing?
05:24The decent thing?
05:26Melody, of course.
05:28Oh, yes, Melody, of course.
05:31Anna thinks he ought to get himself a proper job in Space City and give the child a stable home
05:35to grow up in.
05:35It's going a bit far, isn't it?
05:37See?
05:38Typical man.
05:39You all club together and leave it to the women to sort it out.
05:47I'll send him out on a routine evening.
05:49He ain't getting vertical.
05:50The man is a disaster.
05:51He's a liability.
05:52As soon as we get back to Callisto, I am personally putting you on the first-
05:55Keep your mask on.
05:56You don't go anywhere until you've had at least five litres.
05:59I can cope with a few cramps, for God's sakes.
06:02Community hymn singing.
06:03In the dome.
06:05Got you.
06:06You see, I want to be a social secretary who improves people.
06:10Oh.
06:11You don't think that's a good idea?
06:12Well, it's just I can't really see people voting for Bible talks, Anna.
06:17Bible talks?
06:18I never said Bible talks.
06:20But there's an inner life relief.
06:22We're not just clay.
06:23No.
06:24And the social activities at this college do not have to be concerned 100% with mindless physical gratification.
06:30Oh, no, no, no, no.
06:31And singing hymns can be a wonderful experience.
06:34Uplifting, exhilarating, and real good fun.
06:40Philippe.
06:41You've been out to convince people of that, Anna.
06:43Okay.
06:44We'll make it a party.
06:45Yes.
06:46Have a glass of cider, perhaps?
06:47Oh, steady.
06:49I wish I could find out what Fiona McBride's got up her bodice.
06:53Toga parties.
06:54Yeah?
06:55Murder evenings.
06:56Killing good fun.
06:57You'll die laughing.
06:59That sort of thing.
06:59You think I should suggest that sort of thing?
07:02You want to get elected?
07:06Please respond, Mercedes.
07:10Paul, please respond.
07:13Come in, please.
07:18Please come in, Paul.
07:23I told you not to turn it off.
07:27I told you.
07:30You've only had 4.3 litres.
07:32I've had enough.
07:33Look, you can't lie up in just 25 minutes pre-breathing.
07:35Advice noted that this is an emergency.
07:37Which is why we need you at your best.
07:38You can rely on me.
07:40Come on, let's get on with it.
07:41Airlock pressure now equalised with internals.
07:44Ready for entry.
07:50Now be careful, both of you.
07:52No more heroics, eh?
07:53You'll be on the bridge.
07:55I don't want to rely on that nincomple.
07:56I'll be there.
07:57Good luck.
08:04Petra, begin decompression sequence.
08:06If they've only lost comms, why don't they come back to the airlock?
08:09I don't understand.
08:10If they're all right, why don't they come back to the airlock?
08:13Well, okay.
08:16What about a disco?
08:18Well, you know.
08:20Yeah.
08:21Yeah, I know.
08:21Great.
08:23Daniel, you can help us.
08:25Hello, Anna.
08:26We're working on my programme for social secretary.
08:28Getting people together.
08:29That's what I want it to be about.
08:31Sounds great.
08:32See?
08:33He likes it.
08:33Yes.
08:34I, er, hope you're not planning to serve any alcohol.
08:38Well, at some events.
08:40Maybe a little.
08:41Just to get things started.
08:42Very bad idea.
08:44You think so?
08:45Mmm.
08:46Terrible stuff, alcohol.
08:47Nothing but bad comes from it.
08:49That's exactly what I said.
08:50Daniel, you're right.
08:52Of course he is.
08:53He's just seeing sense at last.
08:54And dancing.
08:56Gets you into all sorts of trouble.
08:57Dancing.
08:58You're so right.
09:00And dancing and drinking together.
09:04Fatal.
09:15Nearly there.
09:21It doesn't look like a sewer rupture, does it?
09:25No.
09:25Why?
09:27What does that look like?
09:28Don't ask.
09:31You lose pressure.
09:34The suit becomes a vacuum.
09:39And you explode.
09:41Fimbo.
09:43My God.
09:45I'm sure they're fine, Rebecca.
09:47They can't move because they're stunned or they've lost their clamps.
09:53Okay.
09:53We've got to fall.
09:55Is the suit ruptured?
09:57No.
10:01How is he?
10:02Is he all right, Professor?
10:04We're going to take a look at Mercedes.
10:07Kristoff, is he conscious?
10:10Rebecca, is medical cleared and prepared?
10:13Yes.
10:14Are they all right?
10:17Okay.
10:18We're coming back in.
10:20We're bringing Mercedes in first.
10:22We're going to have to operate.
10:25Oh, it's no good.
10:27Paul's just going to have to postpone these elections.
10:29They have nothing to do with Paul.
10:31He is the principal.
10:33Yeah, but what's the point?
10:34I've lost my proposal.
10:36I need more time.
10:37Anyway, Paul couldn't possibly want Anna to do.
10:39You're going to have to win.
10:40Oh, typical.
10:41He's not answering.
10:42Never around when you're needing that man.
10:45Get out of me.
10:47Grab her.
10:48She's unconscious, but she's alive.
10:50Okay, get her in her recovery position.
10:53Right, get her to medical.
10:54I'll be going as fast as I can.
10:56Ben, aren't you going back?
10:58Mercedes is critical.
10:59I want to do a criminal to me as soon as possible.
11:00But isn't Paul!
11:00Okay, let's go.
11:01Get back the consent, police commander.
11:03Right.
11:10Hang on, Paul.
11:13I'll be back for you any minute.
11:17Just...
11:18Hang on.
11:21Hang on.
11:23You shouldn't make fun of her with all that stuff about no alcohol.
11:26She takes it seriously.
11:28I meant it seriously.
11:29Oh, yes.
11:30Turned over a new leaf, have you?
11:31If you'll take my advice, Philippe,
11:33you'll stay away from the demon drink for the rest of your life.
11:36Doesn't seem to have done you much, Holm.
11:37Appearances can be deceptive.
11:40And women.
11:43Stay away from women, too.
11:46I think I know someone who wishes he kept away from them.
11:48You do?
11:50Jean-Francois.
11:52Well, yes.
11:53Jean-Francois.
11:55Of course.
11:57But he wishes he was a monk right now.
11:59Yes, you're probably right.
12:01He must be going through absolute hell right now.
12:08Sterilizing fluid.
12:09Where is it?
12:09In that cupboard over there.
12:11Right.
12:11How's she looking?
12:13Okay, we're going to have to operate immediately.
12:15Christophe.
12:15What?
12:16Why aren't you going back out for Paul?
12:19There's no hurry about Paul.
12:23Dad.
12:45Are you sure?
12:47How can you be sure?
12:48You thought he was stunned.
12:49Yeah, it looks like a blood clot on the surface of the brain.
12:52That's a drool hematoma.
12:53He might just be unconscious.
12:54His oxygen tank was punched.
12:55Carry on, Doctor.
12:56I'll have to use the laser.
12:58Maybe he's in a coma or something.
12:59Right, Rebecca.
13:00I need the laser linked up through medical as soon as possible.
13:01What about an algesic?
13:03Not necessary.
13:04Rebecca!
13:07Are you sure you're up to this?
13:08Of course.
13:09What do you want me to do?
13:10I only told you.
13:11You can't leave us alone.
13:12Who else is trained?
13:13Victoria Frobisher.
13:14I can do it.
13:14I can plan you for doing it.
13:16Victoria Frobisher.
13:18I'm sorry.
13:20A Mercedes?
13:22Unconscious.
13:24Critical.
13:25The doctor's operating to burn out a blood clot.
13:29What happened?
13:32Thrown against the side of the ship.
13:35Christophe's a good doctor.
13:36She'll be okay.
13:38He's going to have to perform bloody miracles.
13:40Major neurosurgery without an operating theatre.
13:43Why did I let them go out there?
13:46Why did I let him turn off the emergency overwrite?
13:51Do you want me to take over here?
13:54No.
13:56No.
13:57Thank you, Commander.
14:00I think it's time we thought about getting Paul back in.
14:04I'll be right there.
14:06What's up?
14:07Christophe wants me a medical.
14:09Is someone ill?
14:10Has it got something to do with the alarms?
14:12No, no.
14:13He just wants to talk.
14:18Petra, how long before we hit the third Van Allen belt?
14:22ETA, 1658 to enter third belt.
14:25Pass into second belt at 1727.
14:29It gives you 90 minutes before the radiation levels become intolerable.
14:32You can't leave him.
14:33Rebecca, please, we're working on it.
14:35Is that long enough?
14:37Half an hour pre-breathing, 20 minutes to get through the airlock.
14:39Somebody please get him in.
14:41It'll be tight.
14:42Petra, calculate the options for diverting from third Van Allen belt.
14:46That'll mean abandoning the slingshot.
14:47We have to allow Petra to calculate the possibilities.
14:50It will set us back four weeks.
14:52It's not as though there's a life at stake here.
14:54You can't just leave him there.
14:56He'll be all right out there, Rebecca.
14:58It's zero gravity, zero atmosphere.
14:59You've got to get him in, please.
15:04Right.
15:05If you're out there when we hit the fourth Van Allen belt,
15:08the radiation could be fatal.
15:10You heard the lead.
15:12How's the blood pressure doing?
15:14110 over 60.
15:15That's good.
15:17How are you doing?
15:18Fine, thanks.
15:20You're doing a good job.
15:22I'll step to 28.
15:23Let me know if it goes below 20.
15:26Right.
15:26I'm going to make the second clearance now.
15:28What's the ventilation?
15:30How?
15:31How's it going?
15:32I'll tell you as soon as I know.
15:34Yeah, of course.
15:37Ready, Victoria?
15:44Hello?
15:46Is anyone here?
15:47Hello?
15:49Fiona?
15:51Melody?
15:53Fiona?
15:56Right, Fiona McBride.
15:58Let's see what ideas you've got up your bodies.
16:04Yes.
16:05Radiation registering 306.
16:09How long have I got?
16:12Twelve minutes.
16:15Nearly there.
16:19You can't expose yourself to this level of radiation, I know.
16:22No.
16:24I'm not going to.
16:27I'm not going to allow you to.
16:28I'm calling you in after ten minutes.
16:30Yes.
16:30Don't take any risks.
16:33Don't worry, Rebecca.
16:35Hi.
16:35What are you doing here?
16:37Well, it's just...
16:38Students aren't allowed on the bridge.
16:39Please leave.
16:40Ouch!
16:41Both of you!
16:46Rebecca, I think perhaps an announcement to the students would be in order.
16:53Systolic blood pressure's down to 90.
16:55Increase the drip speed.
16:56What's happening?
16:57Take it easy.
16:58Is she all right?
16:58Please, Charles, if you want to stay in here.
17:00Sorry.
17:02Is it coming back up?
17:0398.
17:05105.
17:07She's levelling at 120.
17:09You can keep it at that level, won't you, honey?
17:17Could I have your attention, please?
17:19I have an important announcement to make.
17:21Please, may I have your attention?
17:24This afternoon, it was decided to make a small routine repair
17:28to one of the side burner jets of the ship in readiness for our course to the Achilles.
17:34Dr. Paul Lockwood and Mercedes Page volunteered to do the EVA.
17:41Whilst working on the engine, an accident occurred.
17:44We do not yet know quite why.
17:48As a result of this, the engine fired whilst they were working on it.
17:54Dr. Lockwood was killed instantly.
18:00Mercedes Page has suffered injuries and an operation is currently underway.
18:04Please do not attempt to enter Medicom until further notice.
18:08I am sure we are all equally shocked by this loss.
18:12There will be a meeting at 8 this evening in the Dome,
18:16at which we will try to explain more fully what has happened.
18:24Well done.
18:29Six minutes.
18:32I am going to cut his line.
18:34Go ahead. Looks good.
18:38I am bringing it in.
18:44Would you like to go to the airport meeting?
18:50Open.
18:56Hi.
18:59I just came to check if you were okay.
19:04You are...
19:05You heard the announcement.
19:09She'll be okay. You'll see.
19:12Paul.
19:14It's a freak accident.
19:17I'm so frightened.
19:19I wish I'd never come out here.
19:20Don't be silly.
19:22But even Professor Brelin was scared for the first year or two.
19:26Well, you're not.
19:27Oh, I am.
19:29I just keep it hidden.
19:31Will you stay here for a bit?
19:33Only, I don't want to be on my own.
19:35Of course I will.
19:37What a mate's for.
19:41How does it look?
19:42Perhaps you should just let us finish up in here and I'll call you as soon as I've got something
19:46to tell about.
19:46I really think it would be best.
19:48I'll be on a good charge.
19:54Is she going to be okay?
19:57That's the thing, Victoria.
19:59I really don't know.
20:07Isn't it terrible?
20:09I mean, Paul.
20:10Why Paul?
20:12He's our principal.
20:13He's not even one of the crew.
20:14I don't know.
20:16What a way to go.
20:17Don't.
20:19Do you think Mercedes will be all right?
20:20I've prayed for her.
20:22I bet it was Brelin's fault.
20:24I bet he made them go out there.
20:26But he loves her.
20:27He doesn't love her.
20:28He just wants her.
20:30It was an accident.
20:31Rebecca said it was an accident.
20:33Oh, Paul understood me.
20:36Oh, right.
20:42I...
20:44Yes?
20:46What are you doing in here?
20:50You okay?
20:51I'll get somebody.
20:52No, no, no.
20:53It's not going to be disturbed.
20:58Yes?
20:59Sorry, but we think you ought to come back.
21:02Coming.
21:02Hey.
21:03What can I do?
21:04Get me back to medical.
21:05Let's go.
21:20You know what it all boils down to in the end?
21:23Sex.
21:24You said it.
21:25And that's all she has to offer.
21:27Sex, wounds and a terrible emptiness.
21:29A spiritual emptiness.
21:32Daniel?
21:35I'm...
21:35I'm sorry, Anna.
21:37I've got a lot on my mind.
21:40Yeah, I know.
21:40I know.
21:41Do you?
21:43But she's in good hands.
21:44It's important we try to carry on as normal.
21:47Right, yes.
21:49I'm sure it's what Paul would want.
21:51Yes.
21:55You know, Fiona says I don't know how to have a good time.
21:58But we know better, don't we?
22:00We?
22:01Who do you remember we exactly?
22:03The old gang.
22:04Oh, the old gang.
22:06Think of all the good times.
22:08All the laughs we had.
22:09Half a minute, eh?
22:11It's up to us to show these first years
22:13that it's possible to have fun without tearing each other's clothes off.
22:16I hope I can rely on you.
22:19I'm not sure I'm your man, Anna.
22:22Spread the word, Daniel.
22:23That's all I ask.
22:24After all, it's not more sex the ship needs.
22:32You see, the level of unconsciousness is not lightening.
22:36What does that mean?
22:37I warned you about the cramps.
22:39It's not important.
22:40What does that mean about the level of unconsciousness?
22:42It means that the operation hasn't completely worked.
22:45We don't know if there's brain damage on the other side.
22:48If there is, we may have to operate on that side as well.
22:51And I don't know if she can handle it.
22:54Is she in danger?
22:56She's stabilized for the moment.
22:58But if there's further bleeding, the situation will be critical.
23:01You're welcome.
23:03You're welcome.
23:04You're welcome.
23:06You're welcome.
23:29You're welcome.
23:43You're welcome.
23:48You're welcome.
23:59We're welcome.
