00:01The community is still coming to terms with the absolutely horrific tragedy which unfolded here.
00:08But now the Minn state government is urging visitors and locals alike to back the local community
00:14and come out and support businesses like cafes, restaurants, get involved in community events
00:20and community clubs like the surf club, the local footy clubs to try and gain a sense of normality
00:26after the tragic event which unfolded here.
00:30There's actually been a decline in numbers of people visiting Bondi, of course, after that terror attack.
00:38Usually two and a half million tourists visit the beach every year
00:42but there has been a drop in the numbers of people coming here.
00:46Here's what the coordinator general of the community response down here had to say about that.
00:51Yeah, look, there is an element of that sort of in terms of reluctance of people wanting to come back
00:55to the beach.
00:56But more and more we're seeing friends and family and others encouraging people.
01:01You know, I hate the word, that normality or that normal.
01:04For some people they'll never go back to normal and we have to respect that.
01:08But equally, the best way that we can try and reinforce normality as a society is to encourage people,
01:14to be strong, to stay connected, to get involved in your surf clubs, to get involved in your life-saving
01:18clubs.
01:19The community support hub down here at Bondi has handed out almost a million dollars worth of grants to local
01:25businesses.
01:26But this Back to Bondi social media campaign and drive to get tourists to return to the beautiful beach down
01:33here,
01:34the government is hoping that that helps the community and local businesses just gain a sense of normality
01:40and they're urging people to come down here and support the community and all the businesses here.
