The South Australian government is releasing a new round of travel vouchers to encourage people to visit beachside communities over summer, as the marine algal bloom continues to affect the coastline.
00:0030,000 vouchers for accommodation, experiences and transport in coastal regions will be issued.
00:08They're between the value of $100 and $500.
00:11It's part of the Coast Is Calling campaign which aims to encourage South Australians
00:16to head back to the coast and generate revenue for beachside tourism operators
00:21which have seen a downturn in bookings since the algal bloom was first detected as people avoid the beach.
00:28Now SA's Premier Peter Malinowskis has said that he is concerned about the public's perception of the algal bloom.

00:35It's important to remember that the algal bloom is just a challenge we have to deal with
00:41but it shouldn't deter people from going to coastal communities this summer and enjoy it as they always have.
00:47The algal bloom was first detected back in March and can cause respiratory symptoms in humans.
00:53Yesterday we heard the first details of the state government's summer plan which will manage the effects of the algal bloom over the coming season.
01:01That included additions to the Surf Lifesaving app which will see ocean conditions tracked and reported on the app.
01:08That includes foamy or discoloured seawater which is one of the telltale signs that the algal bloom is present in those waters.
01:16That tracking will take place across 23 beaches and the app will be updated four times a day during summer.
01:23We'll also see Surf Lifesaving personnel patrolling the beaches armed with washing kits and asthma kits for any swimmers who run into issues relating to the algal bloom.
01:33We're also expecting to hear more details of the state government's summer plan by the end of the month.
