00:00Hello. Yep, there's more cloud, more rain to come as we go through today and through much of this week.
00:06Also, a bit of hill snow across northern parts.
00:09Currently, we do have an area of low pressure to the west of us.
00:12But worth noting, actually, the high pressure, the blocking high that's been over Scandinavia so far,
00:17well, this month, much of this year, that's starting to ease.
00:21So there is going to be a bit more mobility making its way across the UK as we go through this week.
00:25But really, the story doesn't change a huge amount in as much as it's cloudy and it's wet.
00:30What we do have is slightly colder air across northern parts, and that's going to become more of a thing
00:34as we go through much of today overnight into tomorrow.
00:38And there is colder air to come as well as we go through this week.
00:41More on that in a second.
00:43Looking at the rest of Tuesday, then, it's a cloudy picture for many.
00:47Perhaps some brighter brightness, maybe breaking through the cloud across some parts of central England.
00:52But I'm clutching at straws for anything towards the sunshine there.
00:57Generally, it is cloudy and it is going to be wet.
01:00We have some persistent rain affecting eastern parts of Scotland.
01:03A little bit of snow over the higher ground here.
01:05Also persistent rain for northeast England.
01:07Outbreaks of rain elsewhere and a swathe of heavier rain coming in from the southwest
01:11because there's a front that's going to push its way across parts of southwest England, Wales,
01:16and also trailing across northern Ireland as well.
01:18It is, however, going to be fairly mild for the time of year towards the south.
01:23We're looking at highs of around 13 Celsius, perhaps.
01:26A few degrees colder than this further north.
01:28But these temperatures, mid to high, single figures, they're around average for the time of year.
01:32Obviously, under the cloud, the rain.
01:34And there are some blustery winds.
01:36Some strong winds both towards the northeast and also later on towards the southwest.
01:40When you factor those in, it is going to feel a little bit colder than these temperatures may suggest.
01:44Staying cloudy, staying pretty wet for many of us as we go overnight.
01:48Increasing risk of snow over higher ground of Scotland.
01:51And more wet weather, both for eastern parts and perhaps some parts towards the southwest.
01:56We could see some impacts, some flooding.
01:57Could be some travel disruption as a result.
02:00Elsewhere, there will be some drier spells, but generally the theme is for it to stay cloudy and wet.
02:05And we're sticking with those strong winds both towards the southwest and also towards the northeast of the UK.
02:10But with that cloud, with that rain, and where you have it, those blustery winds,
02:14temperatures not dropping a huge amount.
02:15Even across the north, we're only looking at most towns and cities, holding up in the mid-single figures.
02:21Maybe a little bit colder than this in more rural spots.
02:24But towards the south, some places could stay in double digits.
02:27So a pretty mild start to the day on Wednesday, but a largely cloudy and wet start for many of us.
02:34The rain will continue in most places, continue to be quite persistent and perhaps heavy across eastern parts of Scotland and also the southwest.
02:41More hill snow here as well, but then later on as we go into the afternoon, likely to see something a bit brighter.
02:47Some sunshine breaking through across parts of southern southwest and England, also south Wales.
02:52But that brighter, drier weather, that doesn't look set to last.
02:56There is more rain waiting to come in, and that'll be starting to push its way towards Cornwall as we go through towards the evening.
03:03Then temperatures, well, they are looking similar to today, so again, highs of around 13 Celsius towards the south.
03:09But with ever so slightly lighter winds and a greater chance of seeing that sun, we will probably be feeling a little bit milder, a little bit more pleasant maybe towards the south.
03:19Towards the north, however, again, cloudy, wet, even wintry over that higher ground.
03:24So, yeah, pretty unpleasant here.
03:27A rinse and repeat of what we've seen really for a lot of this year so far.
03:31But what happens as we go through the rest of the week?
03:33Well, the rain sticks with us for now, so there will be more rain to come.
03:38And we are actually going to see temperatures dropping.
03:40So particularly across the north, that brings an increasing risk of hill snow mainly.
03:44Could see a little bit to lower levels.
03:45And also there could be a bit of an ice risk at times as well.
03:48Further south, staying that little bit milder, but not as mild as it is through the start of the week.
03:53Then, are you hoping for something a little bit dry?
03:55Well, Valentine's Day could bring a bit of a treat.
03:58But it doesn't look set to last with more unsettled weather arriving during the latter part of the weekend.
04:03For more information about why it's been so wet and how long that rain is going to last,
04:07well, check out the Deep Dive, which will be available on both YouTube and Spotify later on.
04:12Aidan McGiven will be bringing you that.
04:14Bye-bye.
