00:00I have four o'clock hour here on Hockman, Crowder, and Solano starting a little bit
00:04late and I want to jump into it because Will Manso is going to join us and we're going
00:09to talk some heat with him, although I'll give you technically 15 minutes of heat here
00:13sponsored by Doral Kia, home of the Pricito, our lowest price.
00:17Visit them at Doral Kia or DoralKia.com.
00:20We had talked at the beginning of the show about how putrid the Bulls looked last night
00:25and how good subsequently the heat looked last night.
00:30Someone had emailed Ira in the Sun-Sentinel.
00:33How does the team bottle that?
00:36Sunday showed so many good things and now they're undefeated in February.
00:41Oh, by the way, speaking of February, some people on the chat at the beginning of the
00:47show said, cannot believe you have not even mentioned February on the first show of February.
00:53We have not even mentioned February.
00:55On the first show of February.
00:58No need to, because don't forget in my contract, after you put my name on the
01:03show, it, it very clearly states, uh, February is gone.
01:07That audio is done with, and it no longer.
01:10The contract clearly states that in February you're gone.
01:13I think you read it wrong.
01:14I didn't sign up on that, Solana.
01:17Not in my contract.
01:19Maybe we'll have time to celebrate February at some point this month.
01:23It is a tradition.
01:25Um, Ira says, yes, uh, this, well, yes, so far undefeated in February.
01:31Yes.
01:32Yes.
01:35I'm talking about.
01:36All right, Jimmy, let's play the February segment without any further ado.
01:40Uh, Ira says this, um, deep breath.
01:47The bulls are not good.
01:49And without Josh Giddey, they are very not good as with any individual game perspective
01:56is needed.
01:56The reality is the heat should have taken all three from Chicago.
02:00Another reality is their last four victories have included two against Chicago, one against
02:07a son's team lacking Devin Booker and one against a jazz team needing to lose due to
02:13draft pick protections.
02:14So yes, Ira says enjoy Sunday for what it was, but consistency very much remains an abstract
02:24along this ride.
02:25Who do the heat have coming up?
02:27So long, I don't know.
02:28They have the Hawks tomorrow and then they'll play the Celtics.
02:33But according to, you know, that website tankathon that it, it updates you constantly on what
02:39the NBA draft, um, uh, rankings are right.
02:45According to tankathon, the heat have the easiest remaining schedule in terms of strength of schedule
02:50left in the league.
02:51They've got to play the wizards four times.
02:53Like they, they have a lot of opponents that quote unquote, they should beat when you consider
02:59the record against non-playoff teams as well above 500 and the record against teams currently
03:04in a playoff position is below 500.
03:07But as Ira points out there and as coach Spoh has repeated several times, like consistency
03:12is something they lack, which is why in third quarters they have like the, the, the fifth
03:17worst, um, net rating in, in third quarters, and they're consistently blown out in those
03:23periods.
03:23They're not consistent.
03:25So in theory, yeah, they should climb the rankings.
03:28They'll have the opportunity to climb out of a play in tournament.
03:31If things stay as they are looking at it now.
03:33So they're the seven seed right now.
03:36The Sixers are a game and a half ahead of them in the six seed.
03:40Who will be without Paul George for 25 games.
03:43The magic are right behind them.
03:45Half game behind them in the eight seed.
03:47The bulls are two and a half games behind them in the nine seed.
03:50And then Atlanta who they play tomorrow, but the magic own the tiebreaker against Miami
03:55and the heat have played one more game than the magic.
03:58So if the magic, for example, the magic play tonight, I am, I'll look up their schedule,
04:03but if the magic play tonight and they win, they jump Miami because they have the tiebreaker
04:08over the heat.
04:09They beat them four times.
04:10They still play one more, but they've beaten them four times.
04:13So in order for the heat, and this could very well happen, Hawk, the heat could be the seventh
04:17seed.
04:17The magic could be the sixth seed with the same record.
04:20So in order for Miami to be above the Orlando magic and the standings, they'll have to end
04:25with a better record than Orlando.
04:28They'll play the Sixers a ton of times coming up.
04:31I think two more times.
04:32They've only played them once.
04:33And the Raptors and Cavaliers, I mean, they've been good.
04:36They're not great though.
04:37So you could, you could see a scenario where one of those two teams drops in terms of form.
04:43But again, like, are, do you trust this team to consistently beat the teams are supposed
04:49to?
04:50No, you don't.
04:52And that word consistency, isn't that on the players?
04:55Cause like Kaleo where it was eight for 15, 17 points, Pella Larson scored 20, but I looked
05:01it up cause I knew he didn't miss many.
05:03He was eight for 11.
05:04Like they can't do that.
05:05Like the, the word consistency is on the players taking the shots.
05:10There aren't less shots.
05:11They just have to hit their damn shots and they aren't, they're not a Pella Larson is
05:16not an eight for 11 player.
05:17I don't know anymore.
05:18I don't know anymore.
05:19Crowder.
05:19I'm telling you, there was another ask I read today.
05:24I didn't read it to you, but it was essentially, Hey, slow your roll.
05:27Everybody on Pella Larson.
05:28Hold on.
05:29Let me find it.
05:31Eight for 11 Salon.
05:32That's that's Steph Curry numbers.
05:34He's been, no, Steph Curry would take 11 threes in a game.
05:38And Pella has been wildly efficient, but you're right.
05:40Crowder.
05:41Like they're, they're not playing offense through Pella.
05:44He's a supporting player who right now has elevated his game.
05:48Yeah.
05:49But yeah, I mean the night before against the bulls, they went 13 to 48 from three and Chicago
05:55went 20 to 40.
05:56Like, yeah, their shots just didn't go in on Saturday, but the most important factor
06:01is lack of consistency of available bodies.
06:05Norm missed the last two games for personal reasons.
06:07Tyler's missed 42 of the first 53 games or 41 of the first 52 games.
06:12He's only played in 11.
06:14Davion's been out.
06:15Like they can't stay healthy.
06:17No, no.
06:18And that's, and that's why I'll say the consistency is on health is what you're saying.
06:22I'm saying the consistency on the players being consistent night in and night out.
06:25That too.
06:29Man, a second.
06:29Now I got to bring it up on my phone because it just signed me out of the Sun Sentinel on
06:35the computer.
06:35I don't know if they have the wherewithal to sign back in.
06:38Bam got the 20.
06:40That's good.
06:42I bet it's under.
06:43Bam has been, bro.
06:44Bam got the 20, Crowder, in the first half.
06:47Like they didn't, these guys didn't even have to play in the second half.
06:51Pella outscored the, or had the same amount of points as the Bulls in the first quarter.
06:55Literally, you didn't, did you see the game last night, Crowder?
06:58Because I, I didn't see Saturday night's game because I was at Caliendo, but I did see last
07:02night's game.
07:03Tell them what the, the Bulls were shooting from three.
07:06Last night, the Bulls went, uh, Ooh, I have the wrong box score.
07:11The Bulls went four or six of six of 41.
07:14That's 14% from three, man.
07:16Come on, man.
07:17I mean, that's shocking.
07:19That's not shocking.
07:20Cause Boozelis was on the team.
07:23Boozelis.
07:24Did you see him on Saturday night?
07:26I saw him last night.
07:28One of seven on Saturday night.
07:29One of seven, two points last night.
07:31Oh, five from three.
07:33He was tired from Saturday night.
07:35Listen, you have that game on Saturday night and go out in South beach.
07:39You're going to be tired the next day.
07:41Cause that dude was an all-star on South beach Saturday night.
07:45Can't play back to back.
07:46South beach flu.
07:47He went back to back, but it was Saturday night on South beach.
07:53This is what Ira, somebody emailed Ira.
07:55Pella Larson is a keeper and Ira says, sure, but only to a degree.
08:00You can't get too caught up in elite role players in a league where it's all about superstars.
08:07Put it this way.
08:08You can't make a Pella Larson, a make or break piece when it comes to the opportunity to trade for an elite player in the Giannis class.
08:16Yes.
08:17The last two games have been very impressive and there is very much a place for the savvy Swede in this rotation.
08:24If not this starting lineup, but if he can close a Giannis deal, well then thank you for your service.
08:31Yeah.
08:32No one would disagree with that.
08:34Right?
08:35No, there are, there are people.
08:36Like I have a, one of my buddies will was texting me this morning.
08:39How do you not value Pella?
08:41And I'm like, well, you're not paying attention.
08:42I think everybody values Pella, but if he's the difference between you landing Giannis onto the Kumpo or not, I don't think you hesitate.
08:50And I love Pella.
08:51You guys know I've been championing Pella since last year, but Hawk, here's where it gets.
08:55Here's where it gets complicated for the heat because we're here saying everything, but bam, right?
09:01We're, we're all like everything, but bam, everything, but bam.
09:04What if the Bucs tell you, okay, we want Khalil Ware.
09:07We want Tyler Hero.
09:08We want Jaime Hawkins Jr.
09:10We want Kasper Siakuchonis.
09:12We want Pella Larson.
09:13Literally your five most prized, quote unquote, young assets.
09:18Tyler's a young, not really, but you know what I mean?
09:20Plus your picks plus four pick swaps.
09:23I mean, you were literally giving up everything, everything for Giannis onto the Kumpo.
09:29When other offers on the table, the one from Golden State that everybody thinks is so much better, isn't even close to that much.
09:37So if you're the heat, it's like you're being bamboozled by the Bucs because they're showing up with Giannis and you don't have to give up bam.
09:46You are not being bamboozled.
09:48And you're saying their prized possession, their prized possessions on a 500 team.
09:53That's fair.
09:54That's fair.
09:54But remember the Bulls, the Bulls did not trade for Kobe Bryant because they didn't want to give up Luol Deng.
10:02There's myriad examples of teams, the heat included, who have passed on deals because they wanted to keep someone because they saw potential.
10:11And for me, Giannis is one of the elite superstars who you say, whatever it takes.
10:17And again, you know, me, I throw bam into that as well.
10:20If you could get Giannis and you have to part with bam for some way, I'm okay with that.
10:25If you end up with Giannis now that I want to, I'm just telling you to bring Giannis to the heat.
10:30I'm okay with anything and everything.
10:32And the evaluation that Ira just gave to Pella Larson, I think that's a Tyler Hero evaluation too.
10:42Oh, 100%.
10:43He's a good player.
10:44He's going to be in the league.
10:45He can start.
10:46He can score.
10:47Don't attach yourself to him and miss a whale because he's never going to be a whale.
10:51No, I mean, the heat are, are trying like that.
10:54That's the, that's the pick.
10:56That's the guy you're trying to, that's the featured guy.
10:59Yeah.
10:59They're talking because there's reports about from, from Shams that the bucks were interested
11:03in a blue chip.
11:05And yeah, that's Kala where who, who people, I told you on Friday Crowder, like people think
11:10there's a lot of upside to Kala where, even if he's not a superstar, he's in the rising
11:14stars game.
11:14He's a seven footer.
11:15Um, but Tyler Hero, that's somebody that I, even though his stock has fallen, there's
11:22value there.
11:2326 years old.
11:24He was an all-star.
11:25There's value there.
11:26Well, the problem is someone's going to have to give him a big contract.
11:28And the question is who wants to do that?
11:31His injury history is just such a red flag.
11:35Yeah.
11:36Yeah.
11:36I keep him around for the rest of his life for $8 million a year.
11:39Right.
11:39Yeah, exactly.
11:40I saw Cleveland's getting ready to move on from Max Truce.
11:43They made a weird trade.
11:46You saw that trade?
11:47Like, well, that's one of the reasons that they say that they're getting rid of Max Truce
11:50because of who they brought in.
11:52Yeah.
11:53Uh, Ellis and Dennis Schroeder.
11:55No, they're just trying to shake it up.
11:56They're genuinely, they're just trying to shake it up because bro, they're 30 and 21.
12:01They're the five seed.
12:02They're supposed to be a one or two.
12:04Yeah.
12:04In an easy East.
