00:00Oh, Deegan Rockets out. Will it be enough from the outside to control it?
00:07What a view. See, that's the thing. He pushed out a little bit, and that is a great example of that's what happens.
00:14You just come in with too much speed, nothing you can do there.
00:17And if he would have had a better jump, he would have been able to close the door on those guys.
00:21He wouldn't have swung so wide.
00:22McAdoo over Kitchen. Kitchen looking to take the lead. A very aggressive move, and he gets it.
00:27It's safe to say these Monster Energy Pro Circuit guys got their starts figured out.
00:34And Boland was third. Looks like a move made by Deegan to get to third.
00:39Oh, now Moezevin is down.
00:41See, it's not so.
00:43He's okay, but, man, every time someone gets any momentum going besides Deegan in his championship, it goes away.
00:50Deegan attacking McAdoo, but he couldn't get those triples there.
00:54Oh, but Boland able to catch up because of it.
00:57It's going to be interesting to watch.
01:00Deegan handles this.
01:01Watch 23 on the left.
01:04Oh, he loses the front end.
01:06As he's turning, he starts to turn a little early, and when he does that, the front end just washes.
01:14Oh, that's costly.
01:15He is in 22nd place.
01:17Meanwhile, we finally saw what Kitchen could do not going down in turn one.
01:22Now we can see what he can do with a lead.
01:24Yeah.
01:24Second in race one, leading race two.
01:27And these guys are motivated to hold Deegan back.
01:33Yeah.
01:34If there's anybody that they want to beat, I can assure you, it's going to do with number one on his plate.
01:41And it's going to be interesting to see, again, how Hayden handles these moves, if he's able to pass these guys.
01:48Now, remember, he had a run-in with Cameron McAdoo at round one.
01:52Yep.
01:54I don't think McAdoo is too happy about that.
01:56Well, and we definitely know there's no love lost with the leader right now between him.
02:01So, is he going to be tactical?
02:05I think he will be.
02:07We will find out.
02:08These guys are doing a great job, though, of keeping them behind and riding really well.
02:13First lap lead of the season for Kitchen out front.
02:16JT, what are you thinking?
02:18Well, that's exactly what I'm wondering, and what is Hayden Deegan thinking?
02:21Because, on one hand, you know, he's shown so much maturity in his race craft in Supercross, overcoming that starts and getting to the front.
02:30As you see him make the move right there on Cameron McAdoo.
02:33But, as easy as I say that, he also kind of boasts this I don't lose mentality.
02:39Like, he is not the type of rider who's going to weigh up at a triple crown and understand that it's okay to take a second here and that it's a three-race overall.
02:47So, I would guess there's a little bit of an internal struggle going on with Hayden as he makes a critical mistake right there.
02:53Oh, look, he looks over his shoulder because he wasn't able to triple there.
02:59Anticipating maybe that Cameron would try to pass him back up the inside, but he's able to defend that position.
03:09Hustling right now.
03:10So, what, if you look at the left side, what you're seeing is, if it ended like this, Kitchen and Deegan would now be tied.
03:18They each have a win and a second.
03:21That'd be three points.
03:22And the win of the triple crown goes to the lowest score, kind of like golf.
03:26Very early.
03:27But right now, Kitchen where he wants to be.
03:28Be interesting to see these next couple laps, if Hayden's able to do anything with some clean air, if he's able to close the gap on Kitchen.
03:38Kitchen riding really well all day long, especially that first race.
03:43A close second.
03:452.8 seconds to gap, R.C.
03:48Yeah.
03:49Love the composure that Hayden was showing early on.
03:52Not really panicking, not riding over his limit.
03:54Well, that's the theory that JT threw out there.
04:01Obviously, patience and maturity helps, but you also mentioned the rivalry between these.
04:07Can Deegan really say, hey, second is good enough overall-wise?
04:12I mean, there's a little ego here.
04:15A little bit.
04:15Yeah, that's not really his style.
04:17Exactly.
04:17But I tell you, have you seen him in championship battles before?
04:21He'll play the long game when needed.
04:23Pinching added a little time.
04:26Yeah, last lap around.
04:27He did.
04:29Must be very interesting to watch these next, maybe lap or two, because we're already down to five minutes and a lap left.
04:36See right there, Hayden comes over that finish line.
04:38I believe he ships two times, so he's in fourth gear going through those whoops.
04:43Next time he goes over the finish line, you guys can check it out, and you'll see a quick shifting.
04:51This track definitely a lot ruddier than it was for these guys in their first race, so a little different.
04:56I expect Deegan, if he's going to make a move and a push for this race two win, it's going to start within the next lap or two.
05:09Otherwise, time is going to run out.
05:10Deegan looking to close.
05:15It was 3.1, now back to 2.6, so it's a battle of tenths here, back and forth between Kitchen and Deegan, so this is by far the best run.
05:24Well, Deegan, grab some gears here, as you mentioned.
05:27I mean, going back to timing and scoring last lap, he was six-tenths faster than Levi Kitchen, so he did make up some time there.
05:37That is a lot of time in one lap.
05:39Now they're starting to get into some lappers, too, and sometimes when you're the guy leading, you feel like you get hung up a little bit more,
05:48because maybe the lappers aren't anticipating them coming so quick, and then they're aware once the leader comes by,
05:56they know that second, third, and fourth place are coming up through the pack, and they'll give way most of the time,
06:01especially if they're obeying the blue flag there.
06:04And it's Myers here.
06:05He's actually buddies with Kitchen off the track, and they're battling, and that is not helping at all.
06:10No, he's going to lose some time there.
06:13Again, he loses five tenths that lap, so now it's down to under two laps.
06:18And just that little slip when he kind of got cross-running, exiting up, but then Hayden gets slowed down as well.
06:26Yeah.
06:27So it was 3.1, then it was 1.7.
06:30Now it's 1.9, but plugs in the water now.
06:33Yeah, look at it now.
06:35When you get that close, it's on.
06:40And Deegan over the finish in the first race, gave the finger guns to Kitchen, gave him the gotcha.
06:45So how will they play it when they get close?
06:49Because it looks like that's inevitable now.
06:52JT.
06:53I'm just fascinated by this battle, because it's one thing to battle with somebody that you have a lot of respect for,
06:59a la, you know, Chase Sexton and Ken Rockson in race one of the 450 class.
07:02It's another thing entirely to battle somebody who you really don't care for.
07:07For Hayden Deegan, he's probably looking at Kitchen saying, hey, man, you cost me a Super Motocross World Championship.
07:12And, oh, I don't know, $500,000 at least in the way.
07:15So there's a lot on the line other than just the win in race two right here.
07:20Yeah, I know why you're watching this, too.
07:21You want to see how he's going to handle it if he's able to make a move.
07:25Battle down there is for fourth bottom box.
07:28Boland, again, the Club of X Yamaha is so strong early to steer fourth over DeFrancisco.
07:34Will?
07:35Just down here with the mechanics area here, just looking at the pit boards, guys.
07:40And Kitchen's being told, you know, go, pace.
07:44And Deegan's being told, pressure.
07:46So the two of them, you know, they're being told by the mechanics exactly what we are expecting them to need to do.
07:51But we still don't know how this is going to roll out.
07:54Right.
07:54Well, you don't really know what their game plan is.
07:58And when.
07:59Here it comes.
08:01Deegan triples side by side now.
08:03And here's that corner.
08:05JT mentioned he goes right to the inside.
08:07Stands him up.
08:11And the crowd explodes there.
08:13See, that was big.
08:15Oh, that was big.
08:16Similar to the pass that Kitchen made on him in that SMX round.
08:21That St. Louis that JT was talking about.
08:24But definitely not as aggressive.
08:27He didn't put it down.
08:28I didn't think he was going to go for a pass like that.
08:31But he made it happen.
08:34And off he goes.
08:36He's gone.
08:37Why did you not expect that?
08:39I thought he was.
08:40I don't know.
08:41I just I thought he was going to give him a little bit more room.
08:44But clearly he didn't.
08:45He uses up all the lines.
08:47Great anticipation by the 47 of Kitchen.
08:51And a look back.
08:52Yeah.
08:53Well, that ends that.
08:55Deegan made up three seconds and makes the pass as soon as the opening was there and is checking out.
09:02Yeah, I thought maybe that he would just wait till a straightaway, you know, through these long rhythm lanes to maybe make a move.
09:10But hey, man, he's the guy riding the motorcycle and he knows when the opportune time is.
09:16And that time is now as Deegan is looking for the 1-1 to start the evening.
09:21Yeah, it's going to be nice going into the third race if he's able to hold down this this lead because, see, he'll be able to go to that third race and not have to win to get the overall.
09:33Not have to push it.
09:34You talked about playing the long game earlier on in this race.
09:38He would be able to do that because of the situation that he would be in winning these first two races.
09:44Yeah, he would not have to be Kitchen in the next race.
09:47Damage already done.
09:51But look, he got taken out by Kitchen dating back to last year.
09:55That's the story we were alluding to earlier.
09:57And that was a similar scenario, but he didn't take him out.
10:00It was aggressive.
10:01Yeah, he crossed all the ruts.
10:02Yes.
10:03We were like, Levi did that.
10:04Yes, he did.
10:05But it was close.
10:07It was close to a takeout, but not quite.
10:10He made that move.
10:12But I want you to watch Hayden Deegan's line in the whoopsie.
10:14He's going over the finish.
10:15He's going to use the whoopsie.
10:16He's going to go all the way to his right, right up against the tough blocks.
10:20And the reason he's been going there is that no one else really is.
10:23So they're going to be more round and more predictable.
10:26And that's one of the areas that he was making up a lot of time on Levi's Kitchen.
10:30So as this track deteriorates, you're going to have to stay mindful of where the track is still in prime condition.
10:36That's an old trick from our day, JT.
10:38If you remember, riding right along those hay bales where no one would go.
10:42Never really worked out well for me.
10:44Okay, maybe that's why it's an old trick.
10:49Maybe not recommended.
10:51He's putting good work to it now.
10:53Really great ride.
10:55Played it cool.
10:56A lot like he did the main event last week behind his teammate Michael Moseman.
10:59Just kind of let the race come to him and make a move for the win.
11:04Checkered flag in sight.
11:06Oh, he gives another look back.
11:07And another finger guns and another win for Deegan over Kitchen.
11:15And another third for McAdoo.
11:18Exactly the same podium order as race one.
11:23Bowling fourth, DeFrancisco fifth for 50 racers.
11:26Here we go.
11:27Already back.
11:28Ken Rockson looking to make it two out of two.
11:30We'll be right back.
