00:002.50 east here in Indy, let's go!
00:06Shimoda got a good start on the inside.
00:10Stjelic Swal again.
00:12Brown is in the mix.
00:14Ah, two whole shots in a row.
00:16Like you said, a great start for Pierce Brown as well.
00:20Just what the doctor ordered.
00:21Look at Simonson though.
00:28What a great opening lap.
00:30Here comes Stjelic Swal though, fighting back.
00:34And does successfully so.
00:37Yeah.
00:37Pushes his weight back up the inside to the lead.
00:40Executed that pass perfectly.
00:42He could see that door opening up.
00:44He angled that motorcycle and he landed off that double off the whoops
00:48and cut back underneath Simonson.
00:50Great ride for Simonson to run up here.
00:54He's in his home state.
00:56The rider from Terre Haute, Indiana has Pierce Brown storming out the inside.
01:01Cole Davies, pardon me.
01:03Davies and Shimoda is a little wide and loose.
01:06Davies gets that position.
01:10There's that triple onto the tabletop that JT was giving us on the Yamaha track report
01:16and how crucial it is, not only in the 450 but the 250 class.
01:22Shimoda working on Simonson.
01:24That was a good audible that Simonson did compared to the first lap.
01:29Meanwhile, look up the track.
01:31Davies has bridged that gap already.
01:33As Joe Shimoda tries to cut back down on the inside,
01:37Davies has taken off, chasing after Jalik Swal in a copy of the second race.
01:45What a ride from Devon Simonson here early on.
01:48Oh, yeah.
01:49Breakout ride for sure.
01:50Keeping the SMX 250 world champion at bay.
02:05This is really cool stuff for Devon Simonson.
02:11If he can grab a top five, that would be huge.
02:14Meanwhile, Jalik Swal, what did he take from being in this position in the second race?
02:19Well, I think he took a lot, especially now, believing in himself.
02:28Getting that confidence back, knowing and believing in himself that he can race for these wins.
02:36Reassurance always helps.
02:42It's been a 9-7 result on the night.
02:46Ninth in race one, seventh in race two after leading for quite a way.
02:50Here comes Cole Davies.
02:51Look at that run through the whoops.
02:53Wow, using up that right side.
02:55You cannot get any closer to the tough blocks than Cole Davies was right there.
03:00And just a great run.
03:03No surprise, though, he's been using that right side of the whoops all night long for the most part,
03:09especially early on in these races.
03:12JT?
03:13Yeah, Ricky, that line you're talking about there, you know,
03:16it's one of the only fresh parts of the racetrack simply because of the risk involved.
03:21Davies is so close to the tough blocks.
03:23And the only way really through there is it's certainly working for Davies.
03:32Davies behind Pierce Brown, who runs fifth at the moment, 77th.
03:39Derek Kelly's having a tremendous run tonight.
03:42Meanwhile, Shimoda still cannot find an avenue by Devin Simonson.
03:47Yeah, Simonson doing a great job.
03:50And Joe just can't get by him.
03:52And he's losing some costly time to have any shot whatsoever to contending for the overall win.
03:58And it's going to be really hard at this point.
04:07Pierce Brown overall, I mean, looking at the big picture here,
04:12this is one of his better triple crowns.
04:15So, not ideal for the championship, but still an improvement.
04:20Here's a pass.
04:22Shimoda on the inside.
04:24Persistence and patience finally pay off for the Honda HRC rider.
04:30Yeah, it'll be interesting to see these next couple laps.
04:32He's four seconds off the lead.
04:35So, see what he can do.
04:39Tell us more, Will.
04:41Guys, when he was on the podium and I was interviewing him there at the last race,
04:45he said, you know, what's your takeaway of where you're at?
04:48And he said off camera.
04:49He's like, well, I do have to remember this is only my 10th day back riding supercross.
04:54And it just put it in perspective for me where he's been at, where he's gotten to, excuse me,
04:59after that injury that you guys spoke about.
05:01It was a very serious injury, a scary one that he admitted in his own words there.
05:07But when I spoke to Ben Griffin, his mechanic, earlier,
05:10he said he couldn't believe how quickly Joe got back to the pace that he is riding now.
05:16And he just wanted to remind me how incredible that really is.
05:20He also shared with me the Hunter Lawrence, Joe Shimoda's HRC teammate there in the 450s,
05:26told him, when you get back on a bike, Joe, I want you to go and ride the track.
05:31There's two tracks.
05:32Oh, he stalled the bike there.
05:33Two tracks at the dog pound.
05:36And he said, go and ride the one that you had your accident at.
05:39Go back and face your fear.
05:40Joe said, okay, got back out there.
05:42And that was his first day on supercross.
05:46Yeah, he stalled the bike right there on the inside, able to fire it up quick.
05:52Still Simonson having a great ride, hanging in there.
05:55He sure is, but he's going to have company in the form of Hamaka.
05:58Oh, this is Brown.
05:59Looks like he hit neutral there, possibly.
06:02Nice save, though.
06:04Yeah.
06:04Nice save.
06:05Hamaka went flying by, and he has caught Devin Simonson pretty swiftly as well.
06:11That was a good catch, but a lucky escape as well for Pierce Brown.
06:17Here's that panelist talking about Devin Simonson having an outstanding run.
06:22Phenomenal race.
06:23In fourth place, trying to hold off the Daytona winner.
06:27That tells you how good this run is for Devin Simonson.
06:31Sometimes these riders, and I go back to his teammate Cody Shock a couple years ago,
06:35having some great rides and establish himself.
06:38And I think that possibly this could be one of those rides for Devin here and impressive.
06:43And this isn't easy to do, getting a good start like that, running up front when these guys are just
06:48hounding you.
06:49It's like you're in the hornet's nest.
06:52And he's done a great job.
06:56Quick reminder to stock up on Monster Energy drinks at Kroger.
07:01We see the Monster Energy pro circuit Kawasaki.
07:03There was a top three result in race one, and unfortunately, things didn't go to Seth Hamaker's plans in race
07:10two,
07:11where he finished ninth.
07:12That hurts him in the overall points thing.
07:14Here's Pierce Brown, trying to come back after that little hiccup earlier.
07:17He works on fellow Yamaha rider Devin Simonson.
07:20In the background is Devin's teammate, Cody Shock.
07:23Then Derek Kelly.
07:24Daxton Benick is a little further back than where he thought he'd be.
07:28And then Coloured Park and Nate Thrasher.
07:32Whoa, big chill, big leap from Cody Shock coming onto the scene.
07:40As the teammates go at it, through the warps, two minutes, 20 left on the clock.
07:46Nobody's even close to race leader Cole Davies.
07:50He's on his own level here tonight.
07:54And again, no surprise, and it's great to see him put it together.
07:58All three races so far here, just a little bit longer to go, two minutes plus one lap.
08:07There he is.
08:09He's special.
08:12Certainly.
08:14Tell us more, Will.
08:17Well, Lee, Ricky, we're looking at a perfect night frame across these three races.
08:21And I find that interesting as I was talking to his mom, his mechanic, the people closest to him today.
08:26They were telling me what a perfectionist Cole Davies is.
08:29You don't necessarily know that when you meet him.
08:31He's kind of a quiet guy.
08:32They said so much of a perfectionist, everything is like folded in his locker in the truck.
08:37Everything's in his perfect place.
08:39His mom told me that's the way he's always been through his whole life.
08:41Everything in life is organized.
08:43So he finds it tough when he hasn't got perfection in his riding to let those mistakes go.
08:49He said that's kind of part of it.
08:50It serves for the good and the bad.
08:52And he's having to sort of like let that stuff go.
08:54Mistake, move on.
08:55But that's that perfectionist in him that apparently has been there his whole life.
08:59Well, and it's obvious in just his demeanor when he talks about his results, whether it be victorious or not.
09:05This is a good scrap for third.
09:07Honda versus Kawasaki, Shimoda versus Hamaker.
09:10Well, Hamaker's definitely found his flow here in the third race.
09:15And this is going to be a tough night for Hamaker from a points perspective,
09:19especially after that crash last moto or last race, pardon me, in the whoops.
09:25Jalik doing a great job holding on.
09:27Man, this is going to be tough to defend that position.
09:29These guys are all over him.
09:31He's only got a couple more laps, JT.
09:35Yeah, and you've got to think that Seth is really benefiting from this Triple Crown format, though,
09:40because it's been a really tough night, as you mentioned.
09:42But look, as the points as they run, he's still going to be on the podium.
09:46So what could have been really challenging, he's only going to lose five points to the leader.
09:51Right.
09:51It's like, JT, it's like this is where it works out for you.
09:54We talked about it.
09:54Like, again, could you imagine that second race if it was a regular main?
09:58It would have been horrible.
10:00Jalik Swal trying to grab his second podium, but it's just evaporated like that as both Shimoda and Hamaker go
10:08by.
10:10And now it's the fight for second between these two guys.
10:14Final lap.
10:16Cole Davies on his way home for the perfect night in Indianapolis.
10:23Davies in just his second year in Monster Energy AMA Supercross.
10:27Last year in Glendale, Davies won two of the three races to finish third overall.
10:34Last year in Arlington, he did win a race, but he got fourth and 17th in the other two.
10:39So he finished seventh overall.
10:41Well, scrub those results.
10:44They don't matter because this 18-year-old from New Zealand is going to be perfect.
10:49Good job.
10:50How about great job?
10:54He said last week in Daytona, if I do what I'm supposed to do, nobody can touch me.
11:00Well, nobody's touched him tonight.
11:01Triple crown winner, one, two, three, for Cole Davies.
11:09What happened to Joe Shimoda coming to the line?
11:12Check this out.
11:14Oh, he's looking back behind him.
11:17Hamaker gets by.
11:20Oh, he gets sideways in the whoops, goes off course.
11:23Oh, boy.
11:24He's got to check up here.
11:27It'll be interesting to see what the officials think.
