For 47 years, the Trinidad Express has highlighted ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

That legacy continued today as individuals and organisations who quietly uplift their communities were honoured at the Express Individual of the Year Awards—recognising courage, compassion, and service beyond self.

00:00For nearly five decades, the Express Individual of the Year Awards have shown a spot.
00:05Light on people whose actions make a meaningful difference, often without expectation.
00:10The awards celebrate individuals and organizations whose
00:15impact extends beyond their immediate circles, touching lives and strengthening communities.
00:20In each iteration, it has always been an inspiration.
00:25For all of us, generating an energy that makes a difference.
00:30In one's own way, the idea
00:35of an individual, in his or her space,
00:40it's going about daily life and yet making a difference to not just
00:45their circle but a wider scope of influence.

00:51The stories submitted each year serve as a reminder of the quiet
00:55power of humanity.
00:56But it has always been the small acts.

03:14the experts recognized an extraordinary act of bravery.

03:19A four-year-old man from Cookreate was named the Express Individual of the Year after rescuing a child.

03:54And in one, that was the main purpose and I'm so happy that-

03:59A nation poured their love and their support and appreciation.
04:04You know every single people every single body who see me and they
04:09notice my face or come with me, you know, you see follow, save the boy, you see follow, get the award, well done.
04:14Good job, you know, and you feel good that you know that, you know, your nation could act.
04:19And I appreciate it in that way.

04:24The Express Individual of the Year Award for Sports Awardees are selected.
04:29Annually from public submissions, a process the Trinidad Express sees reflect the depth of
04:34service and goodwill present across the country.
04:37Organizers noted that every
04:39nominee represents the very spirit the awards were created to highlight.
