00:13He was a businessman and proprietor who in the 60s ran a popular Chinese restaurant in Portisby.
00:19His nephew, Kishore Tiwari was a crime reporter with the Daily Mirror.
00:23In the mid-60s, the Daily Mirror was bought by then owner of the Trinidad Guardian, Lord Thompson.
00:29Tiwari and many other colleagues were sent home.
00:32Journalism in their blood, the media workers including Tiwari and Patrick Cioccolingo rallied together wanting to start their own publication.
00:41Tiwari reached out to his uncle, Dindiyal Dowery Maharaj, who became one of the first investors and major investors in what would become the Express newspaper.
00:51Dowery Maharaj loved to lime. He was a lover of culture, played mass, sang calypso and even was crowned Jube King in downtown Mass.
00:59He loved to travel and was enticed by anything novel, being one of the passengers on many first flights out of T&T.
01:07His funeral takes place this Thursday from the House of Mourning in Red Hill, Dabery and then to the banks of the Karani cremation site.
