00:00And you got off to a pretty good start on the PGA Tour.
00:02I remember you getting in contention at San Diego in the Farmers Insurance Championship at Torrey Pines,
00:08which, of course, is a great ballpark for you.
00:10Someone where you can just go and absolutely send it around, take advantage of your length.
00:15Talk about the beginning of your year, all the way leading up until Mexico, where, of course, you had that close call.
00:20Yeah, I mean, I remember going from getting my PGA Tour card at the end of the cornferry season,
00:25coming back home, having some time off to practice a little bit.
00:30I had a really good tournament at the Ned Bank, came second, got almost in the playoffs.
00:35So that kind of gave me that confidence as well.
00:38Just that going home, getting that refresh, resetting the brain a little bit.
00:43And so, yeah, I was looking forward to going to the PGA Tour.
00:46Obviously, a lot more pressure with only 100 cards.
00:50I didn't know how my status was going to be because I know the first year cornferry guys
00:55didn't get into a lot of events.
00:57So there was a lot of stress around that.
00:59And I got in for Sony on an invite, not even on my status.
01:03So, yeah, it was pretty stressful at the start of the year.
01:06So once we had that good year, that good tournament at the start of the year,
01:12Torrey, it was kind of like, OK, we got some points.
01:15We're ahead of most of the guys.
01:16And we kind of just try to get that ball rolling.
01:19I think there was a reshuffle maybe a couple of weeks after Mexico.
01:23So after that week, I kind of knew I was going to be set to be in for most of the events
01:28for the rest of the year.
01:29So, yeah, it was good to kind of see myself getting in contention and kind of feel how
01:36guys played.
01:36And it was pretty cool to have that day on that Sunday at Torrey.
01:42It was a big day and it was pretty cold and a lot of emotions and a lot of things happened
01:47that day that I kind of took in and learned from.
01:50So it was good.
01:50Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night seeing the golf ball of Brian Campbell
01:55come out of the woods and reappear in balance?
01:59Does that ever bother you at a time?
02:01Because I remember watching it live thinking, what just happened?
02:04I can't imagine what was going through your head.
02:06Yeah, I mean, I'm looking back at the year and I'm very grateful for the win at Rocket.
02:12And a lot of the time I'm thinking of, OK, how great would it have been if I got two
02:16victories this year and where that would have put me on the FedEx and would I have gone
02:22into more of the elevated stuff for this year?
02:25And so you kind of think about it a little bit.
02:26But, I mean, that's golf.
02:28You're going to win some and you're going to lose some.
02:30So I was just grateful to get through those five holes, that five playoff holes at Rocket.
02:35So it was stressful enough to do that twice.
02:40I don't want to do that again.
02:41Maybe just win it on the seven-second hole, not five holes later.
02:45And you brought on Justin Parsons onto your team to help with your full swing.
02:49And I wanted to ask you about just the development you've received from Justin and from his coaching.
02:55First off, when did you hire Justin?
02:57Justin, as I've, of course, know, I mean, Justin has worked with a couple of different
03:02South Africans that have had tons of success with Louis Ustazen, Charles Schwartzel, and
03:07then Krista Lamprick, now another young South African working with Justin Parsons.
03:12Was it an easy phone call to make to bring on Justin, of course, with all the connections
03:17for Justin into the South African golf community?
03:21Yeah, I mean, I met Justin when I played at the Open at St. Andrews just after I won the
03:27British Amps.
03:28So he walked with me and Louis when we played a practice round.
03:31And I think he was kind of impressed to kind of see how I played, how my game looked.
03:36And I remember going to Corn Ferry and I was talking to my management team saying, hey,
03:41I maybe need someone out here to kind of, that I can maybe go see.
03:45Because it was kind of a dry season for me with the golf.
03:49I didn't feel like I played too bad, but I was just missing a lot of cuts and didn't get
03:53through and losing points, moving back on that, that, that ranking.
03:59So we were talking about it for the whole year.
04:02And I only saw him for the first time at Amex at the start of the year.
04:07So I saw him there for the first time.
04:10We started working.
04:11So basically it started last year is where, where we started the work.
04:15So we were talking about it for the first time at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Amex at Ame
