00:00You know, it's been fantastic for not only myself, but Charlie, who is up at the PGA Championship at Aronamik
00:07this past year.
00:07But I've been in this area, it seems like over the last couple of years, getting to see Marion, see
00:13Aronamik, but also seeing Philadelphia Country Club, Philly Cricket Club for the PGA Tour event.
00:18And one of my main takeaways is that the terrain in the Philadelphia area is some of the best terrain
00:25that I've ever seen.
00:26I love the rolling hills and just all the architects that have been there over the past quarter century, give
00:33or take, and what we've seen on these golf courses and how incredible these holes really are.
00:41And when you walk around and I should say drive around Cobbs Creek, it might have some of the best
00:46terrain that you might see in all of Philadelphia.
00:49It sits high. You have the Philadelphia skyline in the background.
00:54Can you just talk about this piece of property and how it fits in just the overall golf landscape of
01:01Philadelphia?
01:03Yeah, no, that's a great point, Smiley, right?
01:05It's like when you look at all the great golf in Philadelphia, it ties in.
01:10I mean, most people think of Marion and Pine Valley when you think of Philadelphia golf.
01:14And, you know, you just hit on it with Aronamik and the Cricket Club and places like Rolling Green, Golf
01:20Mills, you know, et cetera.
01:21There's, you know, a fantastic, you know, fraternity of awesome golf in the city of Philadelphia.
01:26And then Cobbs Creek is part of that, you know, conversation, obviously.
01:30I mean, Cobbs Creek was designed by Hugh Wilson, who did Marion.
01:33Marion's five miles away up the creek as a crow flies.
01:38You know, Hugh Wilson did, what, three golf courses total, east and west at Marion and Cobbs Creek, right?
01:44And the property is fantastic that we sit on.
01:48It is extreme in a couple spots.
01:49But, you know, some of the photos that you guys are putting up now, it is the same creek that,
01:54you know, runs through 11, like you guys started off by saying, at Marion and makes its way down.
01:58The big difference between Cobbs Creek and Marion from an architectural or topography or ground, you know, standpoint is that
02:06at Cobbs Creek, we've got, you know, three, four, five, maybe six and a half holes that sit on Cobbs
02:13Creek.
02:14Whereas Marion has 11, part of 12 and a tributary that runs into Cobbs that runs in front of two
02:20and four and in front of nine at Marion.
02:22But we're in a huge, a big, significant way, you know, Cobbs Creek impacts the golf course here at Cobbs
02:29Creek.
02:30And then the rest of it is similar to ground that you would see in some aspects of Marion or
02:34more so at a place like Rolling Green.
02:36So the ground is unbelievable.
02:39It's hard to, you know, in some cases to make your way around the property here and there.
02:44But it also becomes very challenging, right?
02:46You've got a lot of cool drop shots here at Cobbs Creek.
02:49You've got drop shots at Marion.
02:50You've got them all over the Philadelphia area.
02:53So I think what Cobbs Creek has here tying into all those great clubs, which is why Cobbs Creek has
02:59got the great bones for a golf course, is because of the ground smiling.
03:02Like you mentioned, in the city of Philadelphia, right?
03:05It just, it's, it just fits and suits the game of golf, you know, from a challenge and fun aspect.
03:11While we're talking about all these great golf courses, Jim, and while we're also shouting out local high schools, I
03:17got to give a big thanks to Catasauqua High School for supporting my wife's illustrious career.
03:21Because the two times I played Marion, I played it once, and I'm playing again in about a month, were
03:25connected to her high school Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.
03:29So shout out to Catasauqua High School.
03:31We're going to get that one of the notes as well here, too.
03:33Okay.
03:34And this week, it's like, we got to do it all.
03:36We got to shout out all the local schools.
03:37And I just, I think it's so interesting when you're talking about just the fabric of all these architects, you
03:43know, you're talking about this amazing history.
03:45And then we're thinking about the future of the PGA Tour and what we're hearing from Brian Rolap and talking
03:51about, you know, we're looking for sites for particularly this championship series.
03:54Venues matter.
03:55History matters.
03:56History matters.
03:57And so when you're looking at this design and the way it's coming together, and we're looking at this new
04:02reformatted PGA Tour in 2028, and we're looking at going to big cities, how do you feel like this whole
04:09thing aligns?
04:10It feels like it needs to be a very enticing host venue for the PGA Tour, especially when you stack
04:17the other thing that Brian Rolap has said is a priority.
