00:00And it seemed like one of the biggest moments in your amateur career was the opportunity that you had, of course, to play in the British Amateur, going and winning that event.
00:09Talk to us about maybe your lead up up until that event and being able to win such a prestigious event and what that did for your amateur career.
00:20Yeah, we moved back and I had no ranking in South Africa, so I wasn't able to get into the big events.
00:27We got three big events at the start of the year and I got in for one of them and I had to play as an Australian.
00:34And I came third. That was the African amateur. So I came third and that event is basically run by Johan Rupert and Golf RSA.
00:44And so I kind of surprised them a little bit. Obviously, no one knew who I was or whatever.
00:49And he said he wanted me to go represent with the junior team in Egypt.
00:54And so I got put into the junior team straight away. And yeah, so it was it was pretty quick how things happened.
01:02And I couldn't go to Egypt because of visa problems. I didn't have enough time.
01:08So they asked me to go on the UK trip with, I think, another eight guys. We were nine guys.
01:15They took three extra guys that they usually didn't do in the past.
01:18So I was one of those. And Johan Rupert said, I want him I want him to go.
01:22And he had a lot of belief in me. So, yeah, I went over there and missed two cuts on playing links golf for the first time.
01:30It was very different. Yeah, that first we played the Scottish amateur and that was some of the worst weather I've ever had on a golf course.
01:38It was first tournament on links golf and it hit me right in the face.
01:43So it was it was pretty funny. But yeah, then walked away with the British British amateur to be the third week.
01:49So it was pretty cool. It's a winning the British amateur championship.
01:53I'm sure that was an incredible moment. And how did that win change your outlook on what you could do maybe at the next level at that point?
02:01It was interesting because that kind of was that next step for me.
02:06And it was amazing how quick it happened when I was kind of playing in Australia, coming to South Africa.
02:13And then I was only playing five or six events and then playing some of the bigger amateur events in the world.
02:18And then to win one of those, it's pretty amazing how how my eyes opened up to kind of see, OK, this is kind of the level we're at.
