00:00Wakefield will retain a city centre post office following a campaign led by MP Simon Lightwood.
00:06The branch, previously located at TG Jones in Trinity Walk Shopping Centre,
00:11will relocate to new premises at the Springs and is set to open on the 13th of March.
00:17Mr Lightwood thanked local residents, businesses and partners for helping secure the branch's
00:22long-term future. He said efforts had been made to ensure existing staff could transfer to the
00:28new branch. The post office confirmed it will provide the same services as before. Residents
00:35are advised to use Eastmore or Kirkgate branches in the meantime, keeping vital city centre services
00:40accessible and supporting a thriving community.
