00:20He attributed that to the council's funding challenges over the last 15 years,
00:25while saying the city centre remains beautiful and keeping it tidy is a constant battle.
00:30The council says a new street washing team will focus on busy locations.
00:33Those areas include Lime Street Station, Williamson Square and Church Street.
00:38The council says more than 100 new positions have been recruited since April,
00:42while the number of workers on existing late shift patterns has increased.
00:46According to the council, that change has increased productivity by 50%.
00:50Working hours have also been extended to provide additional support during evening and night time activity.
00:56The new street washing team is also expected to work beyond the city centre.
01:01A dedicated team will remain on set sites, while a separate reactive unit will respond to offensive graffiti inquiries.
