00:00:00Formula, Rhys James makes his 200th appearance for Chelsea, Trevor Chalabar is back from suspension,
00:00:06Andre Santos and Romeo Lavia also start, Enzo Fernandes is injured, Moises Caicedo on the bench.
00:00:15And prior to kick off, the players take a knee, reiterating the message, there should be no room
00:00:20for racism or prejudice of any sort in football or anywhere else.
00:00:25Chelsea looking to win here at the City ground for the third season in a row, this is where
00:00:33they secured Champions League qualification at the back end of last season, but it's been
00:00:38given away by Malagusto and Awanyi, has a first sighting of goal on his return to action for
00:00:45the first time since the end of last season.
00:00:49Chelsea causing problems for themselves here.
00:00:52Ange Postokoglu, the 8th permanent manager under Evangelos Maranakis.
00:01:02It's poor from Chalabar, Awanyi, now Gibbs-White, bursting clear of Lavia, nicely done, Elliot
00:01:10Anderson, Forrest threatening for a moment here, and it all came from that poor pass as Chelsea
00:01:16conceded possession, that it'll check back, and the stumble.
00:01:24Well, Enzo Maresco forced to take a seat in the stand today, following his red card against
00:01:29Liverpool, two yellows, the second of which you may remember his exuberant celebration on
00:01:33the touchline.
00:01:34Got away from Romeo Lavia, here's Morgan Gibbs-White, and it's wide, and it's at least the third
00:01:45time, if not more, that Chelsea have given the ball away inside their own half of the field,
00:01:50and Gibbs-White, unable to hit the target, an unexpected opportunity, spurned.
00:02:01The bounce beats Adjampong, Awanyi's there, it's Douglas-Louise, Gibbs-White!
00:02:08Forrest are knocking on the door.
00:02:12Gibbs-White was really stretching to try and get there.
00:02:15And there's the thoughtful face of the Nottingham Forest owner, Evangelos Maranakis.
00:02:26A penny for his thoughts.
00:02:31Jean-Pedro, lovely little bit of skill in towards Andre Santos, who is sending it just wide.
00:02:39Chelsea suddenly creating something out of seemingly nothing, and Forrest survive.
00:02:50Jean-Pedro, two Brazilian strikers going at it, and Jean-Pedro going to ground, and Chelsea
00:02:58with a free kick.
00:02:59Early second-half pressure here from Chelsea.
00:03:07Grace James whips it in.
00:03:10Heather away by Gibbs-White, collected by Malagusto.
00:03:18Neto is going to have a run at Nico Williams here, and it was worth it.
00:03:22Adjampong, 1-0 Chelsea, unmarked, clear header.
00:03:28Great chance, fine goal.
00:03:32Josh Adjampong scores his first goal for the club.
00:03:36What a moment for the 19-year-old.
00:03:38Well, Chelsea made three changes at the break.
00:03:40They've been brighter already in the opening exchanges at the second period, and here Adjampong.
00:03:45Right place, right time.
00:03:48The cross was delightful from Pedro Neto, right on his head.
00:03:54It's Nottingham Forest, 0-0 Chelsea, 1.
00:04:00And here comes Chelsea again with Gusto into João Pedro, up to Marc Guil.
00:04:06They get a free kick as well for that one on the edge of the box.
00:04:09Dangerous times here for Forest.
00:04:13And it's a foul by Morato, who has already gone in the referee's book in the first half.
00:04:26Sells on the balls of his feet.
00:04:28Oh, and it's two!
00:04:32And in the blink of an eye, Chelsea open up, real daylight, Pedro Neto.
00:04:39And it's all unravelled for Nottingham Forest in the opening six minutes of the second half.
00:04:45Pedro Neto scores in front of the travelling fans, Forest are shell-shocked.
00:04:51There, through the hole in the wall.
00:04:54Big gap, and it's a big goal.
00:04:58The first cries of Sakt in the morning heading towards the touchline,
00:05:03coming from the Chelsea fans.
00:05:05Here's Milenkovich.
00:05:08He was caught by Malagusto.
00:05:13He'll get a card.
00:05:16That's actually a beat there for Malagusto.
00:05:23Sangare losing out to João Pedro.
00:05:26Chelsea threatening again.
00:05:29João Pedro close.
00:05:30As Chelsea seek to put this game way beyond reach.
00:05:38Forest just looking for a spark to bring them back in the game.
00:05:41Anderson across.
00:05:42Williams going for it.
00:05:43And really good defensive work in support of his colleagues there from Jamie Gittins.
00:05:49Zinchenko across.
00:05:59Oh, what a chance that was for Williams.
00:06:02Big moment there.
00:06:05Forest and he really needed that to go in.
00:06:09Milenkovich.
00:06:10Here's Williams.
00:06:14No way past Kukurea.
00:06:15Corner.
00:06:25By the head of Milenkovich.
00:06:27Saved by Sanchez.
00:06:31Forest threatening here.
00:06:32Sanchez able to flick it over with his fingertips.
00:06:41Well, Evangelo Samarinakis hasn't been in his seat for over five minutes now.
00:06:47Has he seen enough?
00:06:47One back by Murilo Sangare.
00:06:56Here's Anderson.
00:06:58Now Hudson-Odoi.
00:07:05Hudson-Odoi.
00:07:06He goes, Jesus!
00:07:07How did that not go in?
00:07:08An extraordinary moment.
00:07:14The delivery from Callum Hudson-Odoi.
00:07:18And the effort from Igor Jesus there, hitting the crossbar and the post.
00:07:28Rhys James.
00:07:29Guillou.
00:07:31Anderson challenged by Kukurea.
00:07:33Here's Esteval.
00:07:35Corner.
00:07:35Tell you what, it wasn't that far away from 3-0.
00:07:44Esteval to take it.
00:07:47Right under the goalkeepers.
00:07:49No!
00:07:49It's 3-0, Rhys James.
00:07:53Marks his 200th appearance for Chelsea.
00:07:56With a goal that seals the deal at the city ground.
00:07:59Three goals for Chelsea.
00:08:01Three points.
00:08:02Ange Postacoglu and Nottingham Forest.
00:08:05Empty-handed again.
00:08:08And thousands of people immediately make for the exits.
00:08:17It was a terrific looking corner.
00:08:19From Esteval.
00:08:20Punched away by Sells.
00:08:23It was a lovely finish from Rhys James.
00:08:26Charles Pedro forward looking for Esteval when it's collected by Sells.
00:08:36And a foul there on Nico Williams by Malagusto.
00:08:39And he's already been booked earlier in the match.
00:08:44So that means that Chelsea will finish the game with 10.
00:08:47He knew it straight away.
00:08:49Malagusto sent off for Chelsea.
00:08:51That should do it.
00:09:00The mood darkens.
00:09:02The booze grow louder in Nottingham.
00:09:04It's an excellent away win for Chelsea.
00:09:07But for Ange Postacoglu, things don't look great less than six weeks after taking the job.
00:09:14And 21 minutes later, a 39-day tenure was ended with a 39-word statement from the club.
00:09:23Big Ange was gone.
00:09:2739 days is not very long.
00:09:28You must have hardly got to know Ange Postacoglu, really.
00:09:33No, not really.
00:09:33But that's the nature of football.
00:09:36You know, results haven't been good enough.
00:09:39Us as players have to take massive responsibility.
00:09:42And, you know, collectively as a group, we need to do more.
00:09:46You know, we have to look at ourselves in the mirror.
00:09:48We have to get on the training pitch.
00:09:50We have to look for them.
00:09:51Then 1%, it's fine margins.
00:09:53And, yeah, we need to give absolutely everything we owe it to the fans to put in a really good performance on Thursday.
00:09:57But it's a tough game, isn't it, at the top level.
00:09:59An excellent result for you.
00:10:01But today the Forest manager has lost his job.
00:10:05Yeah, they just said me.
00:10:08Unfortunately, it's our job.
00:10:10It's business where you need to win games in case you don't win games.
00:10:14The consequence is for all of us exactly the same.
00:10:18So, Ange Postacoglu, 39 days, puts him second officially on the shortest managerial reigns in Premier League history.
00:10:24But Sam Allardyce, if you remember, was brought in to manage Leeds to the end of the season.
00:10:29So, if you're looking at a permanent appointment, you could argue that it is the shortest of all time.
00:10:33Michael, was it inevitable today?
00:10:35Yeah, I think it was in terms of the owner and his standards for the club.
00:10:40Remember last season, he thought he was going to get Champions League.
00:10:42Didn't work out.
00:10:43They got into Europe.
00:10:45Wasn't good enough.
00:10:46Obviously, Nuno gets sacked after that.
00:10:49But in terms of football, five games, 39 days in the Premier League and he's getting sacked.
00:10:57It's just ridiculous to me.
00:10:59I don't know where we're going as football.
00:11:01I understand the results have not been great.
00:11:04But in terms of a manager trying to get his philosophy over, we knew with Nuno there was a defensive style team.
00:11:11Now, we know Ange likes to play on the front foot.
00:11:12And we always talk about giving managers time to put their input on what the team wants to do.
00:11:20And for them to get five games in the Premier League, for me, I just...
00:11:23With an international break in the middle of all of that, in terms of getting to know your players, do you have some sympathy for him?
00:11:27Yeah, absolutely.
00:11:27You do have sympathy for him, yeah.
00:11:29I mean, the owner has to accept his share of the blame.
00:11:32He went out and chose this particular manager knowing that he had a completely different system to what the previous manager had got.
00:11:40But five Premier League games, you absolutely have sympathy for him.
00:11:44But the names...
00:11:45Mareska said it, didn't he?
00:11:46You know the rules in football.
00:11:48If you don't get results immediately, unfortunately, you're going to lose your job.
00:11:52And the names in the frame, Sean Dyche, Mancini, Rafa Benitez.
00:11:58You know, some people might say, well, why would you want to go there and work under that regime?
00:12:02It's so uncertain.
00:12:03The queue will be a mile long.
00:12:05It's a huge football club.
00:12:06There's only 20 jobs available in the Premier League.
00:12:09Everyone wants to come in the Premier League.
00:12:11And I'm pretty sure the owner already would have spoken to at least five or six of those big names.
00:12:17OK, well, let's talk about what happened in the match.
00:12:19Because in the first half, actually, Forrest had quite a few good chances.
00:12:22And it took Mareska to make some changes for Chelsea to get to Flurry.
00:12:25Yeah, it didn't work for them at all.
00:12:27I mean, Forrest had some really, really good chances.
00:12:29Didn't take them.
00:12:29We're all sat thinking we all know what's going to happen.
00:12:31And particularly in forward positions, it didn't work for Chelsea.
00:12:34Got Santos and Pedro there.
00:12:36Pedro was the nine.
00:12:38But on these occasions, he actually came short into those positions.
00:12:43And the only time it worked was the last minute of the first half.
00:12:46Didn't work here at all.
00:12:48They weren't linking up well at all.
00:12:51And the managers obviously look and think, I'm going to change it.
00:12:53This is the one occasion in the first half it did.
00:12:56Pedro goes short.
00:12:57Santos goes in behind.
00:12:59That was their best chance.
00:13:01Probably their only chance in the first half.
00:13:02And he thought, you know what, it's not working, I've got to change it.
00:13:05So not only did he bring Gittins and Caicedo on, so it had a bit of solidity in, particularly in the midfield.
00:13:11He brought Guiu on.
00:13:12And you can see the difference now there.
00:13:14Pedro's now playing predominantly in the 10-10 role.
00:13:18Guiu's in the centre-four and he's running in behind.
00:13:20And all of a sudden, it changes.
00:13:21They're now playing on the front foot.
00:13:24They're now getting chances in the final third.
00:13:26But that turns into a free kick, which they then get the, it turns out they get the goal from it.
00:13:31Similar thing again, look, Guiu's coming short for that ball, but he's actually asking the question in behind.
00:13:36It's such a clever run.
00:13:38He doesn't get it the first time, but you can see, again, look, that way ends up.
00:13:42Again, making it difficult for the Forrester fence.
00:13:45And they're having to think again all the same.
00:13:47Now, just watch this, how it works.
00:13:49You can see Pedro knows exactly where he is.
00:13:51OK, he chooses not to play him on that occasion, but he then gets the ball back.
00:13:56And again, that's a clever ball and a pass.
00:13:58They work it well.
00:13:59They get the free kick and they score again from the free kick.
00:14:02It's well worked from James and from Neto.
00:14:05But Chelsea, I think, were without doubt much, much better for those changes at half-time.
00:14:10More on the front foot and created certainly more chances.
00:14:13And as we've spoken about, we know what happened after that.
00:14:15Yeah, and they did have chances in the first half.
00:14:17And obviously, Maranakis had seen exactly everything he wanted to see there.
00:14:21I think Yates says it in his interview, I think it's a collective for Forrest.
00:14:25And they did have a lot of chances in that first half.
00:14:28And that was a difference in the end.
00:14:30It was quality.
00:14:31Another result now doesn't look great for Forrest.
00:14:33But if you actually watched the game, if they would have took a few of those chances,
00:14:36it could have been a different outcome.
00:14:38And so many new players brought in over the summer, obviously.
00:14:41And then Nuno leaves.
00:14:43And then, obviously, as you said, there's not very much time for anything.
00:14:45And then a new manager's going to come in and have to work with those players
00:14:48and try and get the team to be cohesive.
00:14:51It feels, doesn't it, almost counterproductive.
00:14:54Especially when it's a different style.
00:14:55We know that it's a completely different style to what Nuno had.
00:14:59Now, I know the results at the end of last season didn't go as well as they wanted.
00:15:04But it's a completely different style.
00:15:06A lot of those players were brought in for that particular system
00:15:09and worked and loved that system.
00:15:12It was always going to take time to change.
00:15:14But we know you haven't got that.
00:15:16But still, five games is crazy.
00:15:18Well, it moves fast, doesn't it?
00:15:19Who knows what the next 24 hours is going to bring there.
00:15:21OK, well, both meetings between Crystal Palace and Bournemouth
00:15:24finished goalless last season.
00:15:26Fingers crossed, everyone.
00:15:27Your commentator is Robin Cowan.
00:15:31Recent meetings might not have lived long in the memory between these two.
00:15:35But they're both on course for unforgettable seasons.
00:15:37Palace's club record 19-match unbeaten run was ended by Everton
00:15:42before the international break.
00:15:44But Oliver Glasner goes with the same team that lost on Merseyside.
00:15:47Jean-Philippe Mateta scored on his full international debut for France
00:15:51over the break, proving the doubters, including allegedly,
00:15:54a few of his former teammates, wrong.
00:15:56Former Zantoine Semenyo also had something to celebrate,
00:15:59helping Ghana to qualify for the World Cup.
00:16:01He's been involved in nine goals in seven appearances this season for the Cherries.
00:16:05David Brooks and Evan Nielsen are out injured.
00:16:07It's three changes from the victory over Fulham.
00:16:10First Premier League starts for Eli Kruppi and Alex Jimenez.
00:16:13Justin Kluivert also comes in.
00:16:17The form of the 1-4 of their last six Premier League games,
00:16:21but it's just two wins in their last nine away from home.
00:16:25Only defeat this season, opening day at Anfield.
00:16:28Kluivert's corner towards the near post.
00:16:46It's another chance here, swung up towards the middle,
00:16:49well defended by Gay.
00:16:51Sarr is down for Crystal Palace.
00:16:54Wicked one from Kluivert, and it's Helton at the back post.
00:17:10Eli Kruppi!
00:17:19Stung Selhurst Park!
00:17:24Well, Kruppi just had to help her over the line a couple of inches out,
00:17:27but he was totally on track there
00:17:30on his first start in the Premier League.
00:17:33Just 19 years old.
00:17:38Already his second goal for Bournemouth.
00:17:42Here's Pino.
00:17:47Meteta!
00:17:53He's got to be hitting the target, really, those opportunities.
00:17:55Well, it's been a good response.
00:17:59Nothing to show for it so far.
00:18:05Semenyo bursting forward.
00:18:08Getting away from Richards.
00:18:10Gay's clearance isn't enough.
00:18:12And it's another for Bournemouth,
00:18:14and it's another for Eli Kruppi!
00:18:16A devastating break.
00:18:21The Semenyo centre wasn't really dealt with by Gay.
00:18:27Could he have turned it behind for a corner?
00:18:29Either way, he's presented it straight to Kruppi,
00:18:32who was in the right place,
00:18:33and showed real composure
00:18:35to slam it past Henderson.
00:18:38Take something special from Palace,
00:18:40or a big collapse from Bournemouth
00:18:42to change the outcome of the points.
00:18:47No foul on Scott.
00:18:49Sarr, that will be one.
00:18:51Seneci, mistimed.
00:18:57Yellow card for Marcos Seneci.
00:19:01Oh, was it a denial of a goal-scoring opportunity?
00:19:05They are recommending that Jared Gillett goes to the screen.
00:19:15Did catch him with the studs.
00:19:18A nervous wait for Marcos Seneci.
00:19:26Let's see what Jared Gillett has to say.
00:19:28After a view, the original decision of yellow card to number five stands.
00:19:40The player is moving slightly wide, and there is a covering defender.
00:19:44Well, Jared Gillett has stuck by his decision.
00:19:48We don't see that very often, but happy that this is far enough from goal
00:19:54that that shouldn't warrant a red card.
00:19:57Lacroix, Mateta.
00:20:05Mateta.
00:20:07Finds Sartre.
00:20:09Munoz.
00:20:10Mateta!
00:20:11A brilliant goal for Palace.
00:20:17It's been ruled out.
00:20:21There was an offside during this move somewhere.
00:20:27It's another very long check.
00:20:28And Jean-Philippe Mateta has put Palace back in the game.
00:20:42So, this changes the mood somewhat.
00:20:45Oh, Marcel, road ends are roaring.
00:20:56Kamada.
00:20:57Munoz!
00:20:58Mateta!
00:21:05Total delirium at Selhurst Park.
00:21:07It's another tremendously worked goal from Palace.
00:21:13He's missed a few today, but he's taken two brilliantly.
00:21:19What a week.
00:21:24Bournemouth have been on the back foot ever since they conceded that first goal.
00:21:29But...
00:21:29Promising move forward here.
00:21:32Tavania!
00:21:34It's put away by Ryan Christie!
00:21:37Two minutes of the 90 remaining!
00:21:44Lovely move down the left.
00:21:48Tavania!
00:21:50With the pullback.
00:21:53And the fresh legs of Ryan Christie.
00:21:56Got himself into a perfect position
00:21:58to potentially score the winner here.
00:22:01Richards.
00:22:07Bouncing ball.
00:22:08Deflected.
00:22:08Away for a corner.
00:22:09Here we go.
00:22:17It's dropping.
00:22:18Where is it dropping?
00:22:20Richards.
00:22:21Lacroix.
00:22:22Another big deflection.
00:22:25Another corner.
00:22:31Here we go again.
00:22:31High looping.
00:22:32Wrestling match in the box.
00:22:35Oh, it's a penalty!
00:22:38Gay went down.
00:22:42It's being looked at.
00:22:45But Jared Gillette had a good view of this.
00:22:48Be surprised if he changed his mind here.
00:22:50One more chapter to this match.
00:23:04Mateta!
00:23:11Cool as you like.
00:23:14Mateta takes home the match ball.
00:23:16Tannis wants to win this.
00:23:21Sent forward by Henderson.
00:23:23Mateta wins the header.
00:23:25And Ketia!
00:23:26Mateta!
00:23:31Oh!
00:23:32We are all Oliver Glasner now.
00:23:36Chance for the winner.
00:23:38He's snatched at that.
00:23:41What entertainment.
00:23:42These two have served up this afternoon.
00:23:47I cannot be happy.
00:23:48I'm not pleased.
00:23:49I'm upset.
00:23:50I'm angry.
00:23:50As you want.
00:23:51Because the call we've received in the 96 minute.
00:23:54Yes, I cannot accept it.
00:23:55I think the VAR has been influenced by the previous decision.
00:23:58When he has called the referee.
00:23:59The referee has watched the play.
00:24:01Doesn't attend.
00:24:02His correction.
00:24:03And then probably the VAR has decided,
00:24:05I'm not going to intervene anymore.
00:24:06I didn't think it was going to be quite that eventful.
00:24:08But it was.
00:24:09And yeah, I think in the end maybe it draws fair.
00:24:12I'm a questionable last penalty call.
00:24:14But that's football at the end of the day, isn't it?
00:24:17I'm so proud of the performance today.
00:24:20And not just the results.
00:24:22But how we played.
00:24:23How many chances we created.
00:24:25And yeah, we have also a big credit to Bournemouth.
00:24:28They were so ruthless today.
00:24:30Every chance was a goal.
00:24:31So they had eight finishes overall and three goals.
00:24:34But the mentality of the team.
00:24:36The way we played.
00:24:37The problems we caused them.
00:24:39It's incredible what these players are doing.
00:24:41I want to win every game.
00:24:44And I think I have the ball to win this game.
00:24:47Even if I score a hat-trick.
00:24:50It's up to me to score that goal.
00:24:52And I didn't score.
00:24:54That's why I'm like that.
00:24:55What a game this was.
00:24:58And we'll get on to Iriola's comments there and the penalty incident in a minute.
00:25:02But Jean-Philippe Mateta had a fantastic day.
00:25:05You have to go back to 2016 for a player to score a hat-trick in a home game and not get a win.
00:25:09Andy Carroll.
00:25:10For West Ham.
00:25:10Well, first of all, I've got to say two really excellent sides.
00:25:13And it was a brilliant game.
00:25:15But Mateta, he's just really, really difficult to play against.
00:25:19Defenders, you know, do not enjoy playing against this guy.
00:25:23He's awkward.
00:25:24He's as game as they come.
00:25:26He'll run in behind.
00:25:27I mean, he actually should have had a hat-trick in the first half.
00:25:30Could have had a hat-trick in the first half.
00:25:31That was the most difficult one.
00:25:33His movement is really, really good.
00:25:36That's a fantastic ball in and he should score again.
00:25:38This is probably the best chance in the first half.
00:25:41Falls to him in a nice position again.
00:25:44Just can't get the connection that he wants.
00:25:47But then all of a sudden, I said about his movement.
00:25:49Hold up players, excellent.
00:25:50Bringing people into the game.
00:25:52But his movement.
00:25:53To get into the six-yard box after he's played the pass.
00:25:57That's the impressive thing.
00:25:58His movement again.
00:25:59The defender's with him.
00:26:01And then two seconds later, he's not.
00:26:02Because of, as I said, his movement again.
00:26:04And that's a clever finish.
00:26:06Then he gets his penalty.
00:26:08His hat-trick goal.
00:26:09And you're thinking, he can't, can he?
00:26:12And this was the easiest one of the lot, wasn't it?
00:26:15I mean, he's leaning back.
00:26:16And anyone that understands French can understand what he's about to say.
00:26:20There you go.
00:26:21It's not very often you see someone scoring a hat-trick
00:26:26and be so disappointed at the end of the game.
00:26:29But look at those stats.
00:26:30I mean, 11 shots.
00:26:31Shots inside the box.
00:26:32Nine.
00:26:33As I said, he's hat-trick.
00:26:34But I love the way he plays.
00:26:37Because he's a nightmare for defenders.
00:26:39So Bournemouth feel a little bit hard done by.
00:26:40That they ended up not getting all three points.
00:26:43And Iriola's point was that the referee perhaps wasn't going to be called over
00:26:47to go and have a little look at the screen.
00:26:49Because he'd been called over earlier and not changed his on-field decision.
00:26:53No, I don't.
00:26:55I think he's clutching there, to be honest.
00:26:58But in terms of the penalty, I think it's actually quite harsh.
00:27:02I think Diakete there on Geyi.
00:27:05The only problem, he's not looking at the ball.
00:27:07And the referee had warned him beforehand.
00:27:10So he was going to give the penalty in this moment.
00:27:14But I still think it's a little bit harsh.
00:27:15Because they're both going back and forth with each other.
00:27:18And to give that, yeah.
00:27:19I think you need to see the consistency also.
00:27:22I get why he's given that.
00:27:23But let's hope that another referee would do the same next weekend.
00:27:26What about 19-year-old Kruppi?
00:27:28Getting two on his first start.
00:27:29First start as well.
00:27:30Two goals, yeah.
00:27:31Very, very good.
00:27:32And it's that recruitment that Bournemouth obviously have to be so good at, don't they?
00:27:36Well, we spoke about the defensive situation that they've done so well
00:27:39in recruiting the players.
00:27:40Got a forward there on his first start.
00:27:42He's got a couple of goals.
00:27:43Brilliant.
00:27:439th and 12th, the finishes that he's had so far, Iriola, as Bournemouth manager.
00:27:47You know, where can they realistically push on to?
00:27:50It depends who they keep.
00:27:53I think Alan's exactly right.
00:27:55The recruitment's been excellent.
00:27:57I think when we talk about Brighton and what they have done,
00:28:01but Iriola and the people down there have done a brilliant job.
00:28:05I think for him, when he first came to the club, I was thinking, what is he trying to do?
00:28:11And when he first came, he was pushing really high and some of the results wasn't going their way.
00:28:15But the way he's managed to lose players, get players in and still buy into the system what they're doing
00:28:20and do it with effect, he's just a top coach.
00:28:23He really is.
00:28:24And the players that they lose, you know, they go to Paris Saint-Germain, they go to Liverpool.
00:28:27They, you know, they're selling for big money to big clubs, big moves as well.
00:28:31So, as a player, it would be quite an attractive place to go.
00:28:34And I also think when you're looking at the players, what he does, I think, really well
00:28:39is gives his players the freedom to go and play.
00:28:41Just go and express yourselves and you can see they're enjoying their football.
00:28:44OK.
00:28:45Well, in form, Manchester City faced Everton with an excellent record in this fixture.
00:28:50The Toffees' last league win at City came 15 years ago during David Moyes' first spell in charge.
00:28:55Steve Bauer, watch this one.
00:28:56Manchester City back at the Etihad where they've won seven of their last eight Premier League games.
00:29:04But they must do without the injured Rodri today.
00:29:07So, Nico Gonzalez starts.
00:29:09There are also recalls for Doku and Ake and Marmouche returns as a substitute.
00:29:15Everton are unable to play on loan Jack Grealish against his parent club.
00:29:19But they are able to welcome back Kiernan Dewsbury Hall after suspension.
00:29:23Beto has preferred to Barry up front.
00:29:25Alcaraz preferred to Dibbling and Keane is fit to start.
00:29:32Everton.
00:29:33To say they are due a win against Manchester City.
00:29:36There's something of an understatement.
00:29:38One victory in 24 Premier League meetings.
00:29:43It was a little loose from Ake.
00:29:45And Njais onto it.
00:29:46Beto trying to get into the penalty area.
00:29:48There he is.
00:29:50And he's wondering just how he didn't make the all-important contact.
00:29:55Excellent try from Njais.
00:29:57And subsequent ball.
00:29:59Oh, and that's how close Beto was.
00:30:01As did Garner there on Haaland.
00:30:12City keen to keep things moving.
00:30:15Nunes.
00:30:15Savino.
00:30:20Really nicely tied ball into Savino.
00:30:24Almost had too much time to think about it.
00:30:28Now the landmark today.
00:30:30His 350th Premier League game as a manager.
00:30:33Not done too badly in the previous 349, has he?
00:30:40Again, Savino.
00:30:41That time Mikelenko got his foot in.
00:30:44And City have their second corner of the game.
00:30:49Now, yeah.
00:30:49It's a score from a corner in the Premier League this season.
00:30:53Everton will hope that continues here.
00:30:55Oh, it nearly didn't.
00:30:56Well, Pickford didn't move here.
00:31:00So congested.
00:31:02It would have been an own goal.
00:31:03Off Jake O'Brien.
00:31:07Njais for Everton.
00:31:08Trying to get numbers forward.
00:31:10Alcaraz is bursting down the left-hand side.
00:31:13Here comes Adresa Gay.
00:31:16He's trying to pick out Alcaraz.
00:31:18Fantastic defending from Reinders.
00:31:22Here's Njais.
00:31:23Such a box of tricks.
00:31:24Ilian Njais.
00:31:26Turned over by Donnarumma.
00:31:29With his first save of the game.
00:31:31But in those moments, Everton have looked a threat on the break.
00:31:36Top scorer Njais has been at the heart of most of it.
00:31:45Alcaraz looking for the run of Dewsbury Hall.
00:31:47Harland with the block.
00:31:49And Harland's now on the charge here for Manchester City.
00:31:52Reinders.
00:31:53Doku!
00:31:54Denied by Pickford.
00:31:56And cleared by Mikhelenko.
00:32:00And in the blink of an eye, from that, with Everton in possession on halfway,
00:32:05Manchester City sense something.
00:32:08And in the end, it was straight at Jordan Pickford.
00:32:11It's been a fascinating battle, this.
00:32:12It's been a fascinating battle, this.
00:32:12The Brazilian against the Ukrainian.
00:32:14The Brazilian against the Ukrainian.
00:32:15The Brazilian won this one.
00:32:15And he caught that much better.
00:32:16The Brazilian against the Ukrainian.
00:32:16The Brazilian won this one.
00:32:17And he caught that much better.
00:32:18The Brazilian against the Ukrainian.
00:32:18And he caught that much better.
00:32:20And it's been a fascinating battle, this.
00:32:20The Brazilian against the Ukrainian.
00:32:21Remained us to pick out Savino
00:32:25Who's around Michalenko
00:32:27It's Savino
00:32:28Jordan Pickford to the rescue again
00:32:32And he's virtually the last kicker this first half
00:32:35It's been a fascinating battle this
00:32:37The Brazilian against the Ukrainian
00:32:39The Brazilian won this one
00:32:40And he caught that much better
00:32:51Now that's a nicely weighted ball
00:32:53O'Reilly in
00:32:55There he is
00:32:56We've hardly mentioned his name
00:32:59But the main man steps forward again
00:33:02Erling Haaland
00:33:05Into double Premier League figures already for the season
00:33:08Forget touches of the ball
00:33:10Forget goal involvements
00:33:12This is what he's all about
00:33:14And from the moment O'Reilly was looking to cross that
00:33:18He was on the move
00:33:19There's the look from O'Reilly
00:33:21Lovely delivery
00:33:22And the end result was never ever in doubt
00:33:27Deadlock broken
00:33:28And no surprise
00:33:31With the name on the score sheet
00:33:33Incidentally that's the third time
00:33:38That Haaland has been into double figures
00:33:41In the first eight league games of the season
00:33:42And it's no surprise nobody else has managed that
00:33:49Oscar Bob
00:33:50Lovely turn from Foden
00:33:54And he's picked out Savinho
00:33:56Haaland wants it pulled back
00:33:59And Haaland makes it two
00:34:02Erling Haaland at the double
00:34:07Two in five second half minutes
00:34:10Have a completely different complexion on this game
00:34:14Talk about enjoying his football
00:34:18What a spell
00:34:20He's enjoying
00:34:21Demanded it here
00:34:23Pulled away
00:34:24I think that went through the legs of Tarkovsky
00:34:27Which deceived Pickford
00:34:29Two for Haaland
00:34:30And two for Manchester City
00:34:33Foden
00:34:40He's looking for Haaland
00:34:42Now then
00:34:43Here's the hat-trick opportunity
00:34:45Undenied by Pickford
00:34:48He's on it again
00:34:49That time blocked
00:34:52And followed in and wide
00:34:53From Cherki
00:34:55But for all the delight of the two goals
00:34:59That will eat away at him
00:35:01On the verge of a 28th career hat-trick
00:35:04And the majority of the Eti
00:35:07Hadn't expected him here
00:35:08To complete it
00:35:09Pickford's left hand first
00:35:11And then Tarkovsky's block
00:35:13Dibbling on Cherki
00:35:22Silly yellow card for Tyler Dibbling
00:35:24Here goes Haaland
00:35:31Is it this time?
00:35:33No!
00:35:34Denied by Pickford again
00:35:36Oscar Bob's picked it up
00:35:38Haaland again
00:35:41He slams the turf in sheer frustration
00:35:47Brilliant movement
00:35:51Really well found
00:35:53And the leg to Pickford this time
00:35:57Denied him the match ball
00:36:00And this one
00:36:01Wouldn't quite come down for him
00:36:03A lot of work
00:36:05They were not easy at all
00:36:06And the first half
00:36:08More troubled
00:36:10We couldn't really settle our game
00:36:13And a completely different second half
00:36:15And three points
00:36:17When you've got Erling in the form that he's in
00:36:19I mean what are five minutes again
00:36:20For him to turn the game around?
00:36:22We cannot rely completely on the team
00:36:26So we need other players
00:36:28You know
00:36:28Wingers, stacking midfielders
00:36:30And other ones
00:36:31We need
00:36:32We need to
00:36:33They have to make a step up
00:36:35To score goals
00:36:36Of course we play to
00:36:38You know to provide Erling
00:36:40The quality they have
00:36:41They have the passes
00:36:42And the score of goals
00:36:43But other players
00:36:45Have to do it again
00:36:46The job against a lot of the better teams than us
00:36:49Is to make sure we challenge them
00:36:50When we put in a performance
00:36:51And for long periods of the game we did
00:36:52So we move on
00:36:54I'm disappointed with the result
00:36:56Not with how the players performed today
00:36:58Well because he was the outstanding player today
00:37:01I think we should have a little bit of time
00:37:03To really kind of wax lyrical about Erling Haaland
00:37:06And have a look at that
00:37:07That's the quickest players to reach 10 Premier League goals
00:37:10And Erling Haaland occupies the top three places
00:37:13There is of course a Newcastle United legend on there
00:37:15But it's not you
00:37:16It's Les
00:37:17It's Les Ferdinand
00:37:19I remember when one goal every game was alright
00:37:25But not anymore was it
00:37:26Yeah you took 10 games
00:37:2792-93
00:37:28Not good enough
00:37:29He was today at his unplayable best at times wasn't he
00:37:33Yeah I mean it seems quite ridiculous
00:37:35Me doing an analysis piece on a striker
00:37:37Where we've got Alan Shearer
00:37:38Record Premier League goalscorer
00:37:41But I want to talk about from a defensive point of view
00:37:44And what Everton did
00:37:45So as we roll it on here
00:37:47It's really interesting with Haaland's movement
00:37:52They always talk about it doesn't have many touches
00:37:55But it's his smart movement
00:37:57And Keane there can see him
00:37:59It's absolutely perfect
00:38:01And as we roll it on now
00:38:03Haaland can see the back of his shirt
00:38:06So can we just hold it there for a moment
00:38:08We always talk as a defender
00:38:11Now to defend the space
00:38:13So he has to run back as quick as possible
00:38:15The two centre half into that space
00:38:17And Haaland knows he can outrun him
00:38:20But what he decides to do
00:38:21As we roll it on here now
00:38:24Is just check his run
00:38:26And that is IQ
00:38:28And it's unbelievable
00:38:30Game football intelligence
00:38:32Again here
00:38:33Absolutely outstanding
00:38:35Just gets in these brilliant positions
00:38:39Where he just holds his run
00:38:41Perfect
00:38:42Now if we hold it here
00:38:43Okay
00:38:44As the ball for Man City goes out wide
00:38:46As a centre half
00:38:48You have to protect the near post
00:38:50So
00:38:51As we run it on slowly here
00:38:53Tarkovsky is in two minds
00:38:56Whether to drop back
00:38:58Or to go to the danger
00:38:59Which is Haaland
00:39:01It's too late for Pickford
00:39:03He sees it
00:39:03But the next clip
00:39:04Is my absolute favourite
00:39:06We'll just stop it here for a moment
00:39:09Keane there
00:39:11In his perfect position
00:39:13You see Foden on the ball there
00:39:15So when Foden's on the ball now
00:39:17How you learnt to defend
00:39:18If he's got time and space
00:39:20You have dropped off
00:39:21He's dropped off
00:39:23He's given himself five yards
00:39:24We roll on the ball
00:39:25We roll it on now
00:39:27As he plays that pass
00:39:29Haaland still gets it
00:39:31And that's what we talk about
00:39:33Unplayable
00:39:34Defenders are doing
00:39:35The right things
00:39:36But they still can't defend him
00:39:38When he's in this form
00:39:40He really is unstoppable
00:39:42And his goal record this season
00:39:44What's he got?
00:39:4523 goals in 13 games
00:39:47For club and country
00:39:48He's just phenomenal
00:39:50Yeah, let's have a look
00:39:50At where that puts him
00:39:51In kind of Europe's elite
00:39:53If you like
00:39:54And again
00:39:55Harry Kane was scoring tonight
00:39:56For Bayern Munich
00:39:57But look
00:39:58This is club and country
00:39:59And his rate of scoring
00:40:01Is the best in Europe
00:40:02This season
00:40:03He's got everything on him
00:40:05Yeah, I mean
00:40:06You're talking about
00:40:06Three amazing players there
00:40:07But for me
00:40:08If you're building
00:40:09From scratch
00:40:11What you want
00:40:12As the ideal centre forward
00:40:14Look at Haaland
00:40:16I mean
00:40:17He's got
00:40:18Obviously the goals
00:40:18Pace
00:40:19Movement
00:40:20Strength
00:40:20Good in the air
00:40:21He doesn't mind being roughed up
00:40:23It doesn't bother him
00:40:24If he doesn't have
00:40:26Five or six touches
00:40:27Within a minute
00:40:28Oh, he has one touch per half
00:40:30As long as that touch
00:40:31Is a goal
00:40:32There's not many players
00:40:33Like that
00:40:33So for me
00:40:35He's almost perfect
00:40:37He really is
00:40:38He's a fantastic talent
00:40:41I love watching him
00:40:42And we're lucky to have him in our league
00:40:44And obviously Man City
00:40:45Have got an incredible player on their hands
00:40:48And they needed him today
00:40:49Because the first half
00:40:50There wasn't much there
00:40:50Was there?
00:40:51Yeah, I think
00:40:52Everton had some really good chances
00:40:53With Beto
00:40:54But in the end
00:40:55The quality shone through
00:40:56OK, thank you very much
00:40:58Well, Premier League leaders
00:41:00Arsenal travel to Fulham
00:41:01Looking to make it
00:41:02Five wins in a row
00:41:03In all competitions
00:41:04Jonathan Pearce was at
00:41:05Craven Cottage
00:41:06Arsenal are now odds-on
00:41:09To land their first title
00:41:11Since 2004
00:41:12The Cottagers
00:41:13Look to go four home league games
00:41:15Unbeaten at the start of a season
00:41:16For the first time since 2011
00:41:18With three changes
00:41:19Kearney gets a first league start
00:41:21This season
00:41:21For the injured Lukic
00:41:22Cuenca
00:41:23A first Premier start
00:41:24Since the opening day
00:41:25For Bassi
00:41:25Who's only on the bench
00:41:26After international duty
00:41:27And Jimenez
00:41:28Is fit to return
00:41:29After a groin problem
00:41:30Diop drops out
00:41:31Arsenal just one defeat
00:41:33In their last 14
00:41:33Against Fulham
00:41:34Enter a favourable run of fixtures
00:41:35Looking to cement top spot
00:41:37With one in fours
00:41:38Change for the win over West Ham
00:41:40Zubimendi for the injured
00:41:41Odegaard
00:41:42Just three goals
00:41:43Conceded in ten games
00:41:44In all
00:41:44It's their best ever
00:41:45Defensive start
00:41:46Fulham went into this
00:41:48Having lost their previous two
00:41:50Last lost three league games
00:41:52In a row
00:41:52In December 23
00:41:53But at home
00:41:55They're a different proposition
00:41:56Easy minutes
00:41:59And Berger
00:42:04To Wilson
00:42:06Went to plant it
00:42:07Really decent start
00:42:10Here by Fulham
00:42:10Causing this morning's
00:42:13League leaders
00:42:13Problems
00:42:14Helmed up his body
00:42:16To try and bend it in
00:42:17To add to the goal
00:42:19He scored against
00:42:20Brentford back in September
00:42:21All a little bit slow
00:42:25From Arsenal
00:42:25In possession
00:42:26Not a lot of movement
00:42:27Up front
00:42:28Canofiori's now
00:42:29Made a dash
00:42:30Into the middle
00:42:30He's found by
00:42:31Trussard and scores
00:42:32Court of an hour
00:42:34Gone
00:42:34But there's a flag up
00:42:36And it won't count
00:42:37That's a real moment
00:42:39Of invention
00:42:39From Arsenal
00:42:40In the game
00:42:41Canofiori breaking lines
00:42:43With his run
00:42:44Lovely finish
00:42:46Mind you
00:42:46But it won't count
00:42:47He's as it
00:42:53Again
00:42:55Dwelt on it
00:42:55Too long
00:42:56And King will race
00:42:57Away for Fulham
00:42:58Chased by
00:43:00Zubimendi
00:43:01Who leaves him
00:43:02To
00:43:02Gabriel
00:43:03Still King
00:43:06Oh
00:43:07Decepted
00:43:07Right
00:43:08I have to say
00:43:08He didn't mean it
00:43:09He was looking
00:43:10For Iwobi
00:43:11In the middle
00:43:11He's had a look
00:43:13Maybe he did mean it
00:43:15He'll say he did
00:43:16Timber has Saka
00:43:19Down the line
00:43:20As they're making
00:43:20A run as well
00:43:21Just inside him
00:43:22But again
00:43:23Good work by Fulham
00:43:24Here
00:43:24Now there's a gap
00:43:25Saka
00:43:26On to Jokeres
00:43:27Is he onside
00:43:27Carried by Leino
00:43:29Trussard leaped
00:43:30For the loose ball
00:43:30And collected
00:43:32By the keeper
00:43:33Second time
00:43:34Jokeres
00:43:35Played on by
00:43:35Castagne
00:43:36Fizzed the shot
00:43:37And Leino
00:43:38Got down to it
00:43:38Well
00:43:39That's the best
00:43:41We've seen
00:43:41From Arsenal
00:43:41Mick Jagger
00:43:44Watching on
00:43:45Arsenal
00:43:52Finishing the first half
00:43:53Strongly
00:43:54Saka
00:43:57To take on
00:43:57Sessegnor
00:43:58Oh that's dangerous
00:43:59The cross in
00:44:00Comes out of
00:44:00Calafiore
00:44:01Good hit
00:44:01Couldn't keep it down
00:44:03Get it full fat
00:44:05On the left foot
00:44:05Volley
00:44:06Arsenal beginning to create
00:44:08Timber looks for Saka
00:44:14To take on
00:44:16Sessegnor
00:44:16And he's got away
00:44:17From him here
00:44:18Saka
00:44:19Still going
00:44:20Pokes it
00:44:21Square
00:44:21It's come out of the defender
00:44:22And in the end
00:44:23Just about
00:44:23Cleared away
00:44:24By Castagne
00:44:24Determined run
00:44:26By Bakaio Saka
00:44:28The Arsenal captain
00:44:29Picked it up there
00:44:30Got away from
00:44:30Sessegnor
00:44:31Stayed on his feet
00:44:33That's a heavy touch
00:44:33But he was too strong
00:44:34In that challenge
00:44:35In that challenge
00:44:35The game that Arsenal
00:44:38Would have expected to win
00:44:40Berger
00:44:41And King has wrestled it
00:44:45The way of Fulham
00:44:46Jimenez
00:44:46Managed to scramble it
00:44:48On to Wilson
00:44:49Back it goes
00:44:50First look for Raul Jimenez
00:44:51Vital touch by Timber
00:44:52Iwobi
00:44:52Back through the penalty
00:44:54And Wilson arrives
00:44:55Fulham fans respond
00:44:57Crescendo noise
00:44:59Tenacity
00:45:01Endeavour
00:45:03And in the end
00:45:04And the ball was played back
00:45:06By Iwobi
00:45:06Met it true enough
00:45:08But couldn't keep it down
00:45:09Come on Fulham
00:45:11Is the cry
00:45:12Zubamendi
00:45:15There's Timber
00:45:16Down the right-hand side
00:45:17Keeping Ben
00:45:18Wide out of the team
00:45:19Because he's a
00:45:20More attacking threat
00:45:21Saka's squeezed it
00:45:23Through to Eza
00:45:24Jokeres
00:45:25That's a good challenge
00:45:26It's a good challenge
00:45:28And Cuenca stayed down
00:45:30Again
00:45:30He's holding his face
00:45:31Just got bumped there
00:45:33From Jokeres
00:45:34Fulham
00:45:37Determinedly
00:45:38Have held on
00:45:39For 57 minutes
00:45:41Here comes the cross
00:45:43It's in this time
00:45:44Trossard
00:45:45Score of many
00:45:47An important goal
00:45:48Was in there
00:45:49Did he get the touch
00:45:50He thinks he did
00:45:51Gabriel was involved as well
00:45:53Arsenal lead
00:45:5458 minutes gone
00:45:56Trossard arriving
00:45:57At the far post
00:45:58The deadlock is broken
00:46:00One of the near posts
00:46:01By Gabriel
00:46:02And there's
00:46:03The Belgian international
00:46:04To force it in
00:46:05Coaches goal
00:46:07For Trossard
00:46:08Well the best teams
00:46:10Find a way
00:46:11If they can hold
00:46:14On to this lead
00:46:15Then Arsenal
00:46:17Would have come through
00:46:18A tricky day
00:46:19Saka
00:46:21Taking on Kevin
00:46:26That is going to be
00:46:28A penalty kick
00:46:29Risky challenge
00:46:31By the substitute
00:46:32It's the first thing
00:46:33He's done since
00:46:34Coming on
00:46:34VAR
00:46:37Was asking the question
00:46:39Whether the ball
00:46:40Was touched
00:46:40Sure Atwell
00:46:43Has told Anthony Taylor
00:46:44To go to the monitor
00:46:45He's made contact
00:46:48With the ball
00:46:48There
00:46:49The ball moves
00:46:50Off the contact
00:46:51From the foot
00:46:52This has to be
00:46:54Overturned
00:46:54The decision
00:46:55And here comes the referee
00:46:57After review
00:46:58And we'll hear his description
00:46:59Fuller 22 makes a challenge
00:47:02And plays the ball
00:47:04Therefore no foul is committed
00:47:06No penalty
00:47:07No penalty
00:47:08Martinelli
00:47:15Squeezes the pass up wide
00:47:19To Saka
00:47:20Timbers there ahead of him
00:47:22Into Jokrej
00:47:24Again back to goal
00:47:25Good swivel
00:47:26It's parried
00:47:27And that's a good double save
00:47:29Martinelli denied in the end
00:47:30Well there you can see
00:47:32What Jokrej can do
00:47:33Decent save
00:47:35And then the follow up save
00:47:36From Martinelli
00:47:37Was just as good
00:47:38We came to a really difficult place
00:47:40We had experience
00:47:41In the last two seasons
00:47:42Not winning here
00:47:43And we wanted to
00:47:44Make another step
00:47:45Against that really good side
00:47:47And keep knocking on the door
00:47:48And keep insisting
00:47:49Because the way
00:47:50They play
00:47:51Demands that
00:47:52But very happy
00:47:53At the point
00:47:54The corner
00:47:54Was taken
00:47:55And I saw Gabi
00:47:56Go in a duel
00:47:57And I went to the back post
00:47:59When it happened
00:47:59So really pleased
00:48:01The ball came there
00:48:02And did the last job
00:48:04Where Gabi
00:48:05He jumped
00:48:06So high
00:48:07That it's almost impossible
00:48:08If you don't stop him
00:48:08In the run
00:48:09And we tried
00:48:09Most of the times
00:48:10We did very well
00:48:11In our defensive set pieces
00:48:13In that moment
00:48:14He jumped in a way
00:48:16That was very difficult
00:48:17For us to control
00:48:18Three goals
00:48:19Conceded in 11 games
00:48:20That's the best ever
00:48:21Defensive start
00:48:22In Arsenal's history
00:48:23I'm so happy for the team
00:48:27For everyone
00:48:28Because we work very hard
00:48:30And training
00:48:30And training every day
00:48:31And that's the reward
00:48:33We get as well
00:48:34If you keep a clean sheet
00:48:35You need only one goal
00:48:36To win a game
00:48:37And it was a tough game
00:48:38For us today
00:48:39And we did it that way
00:48:40Well Jonathan said it there
00:48:42They are the best
00:48:43Defensively in Europe
00:48:44They've gone back to back games
00:48:45Now without letting
00:48:46The opposition have a shot
00:48:47First time in 22 years
00:48:48So what's improved
00:48:49Because they were already
00:48:50Good last season
00:48:50Defensively
00:48:51Yeah I think they defend
00:48:53Really well as a team
00:48:55In all parts of the pitch
00:48:56So I just want to show you
00:48:58The first clip
00:48:58You would say this is a high block
00:49:01If Alan you forgive me
00:49:02For saying that
00:49:02But in terms of
00:49:04It was a throw in
00:49:06And look at the reaction
00:49:07From Gabriel
00:49:08To get back in
00:49:10Now you've got a four
00:49:11Versus four
00:49:12And as the clip materialises
00:49:16The ball goes wide
00:49:18Gabriel's back into position
00:49:20The ball's going to get
00:49:22Circulated around again
00:49:24And before you know it
00:49:26You've got the whole team
00:49:28Behind the ball
00:49:29That is defending
00:49:30As a group
00:49:31As a team
00:49:32Knowing exactly
00:49:33What they need to do
00:49:34So you've had the high block
00:49:35Now we're in the mid block
00:49:37Arsenal on the ball
00:49:39They give away the ball
00:49:40Sloppily
00:49:41And you think in this situation
00:49:44Will they panic
00:49:45Nope
00:49:45Rice
00:49:46Sales Gabriel to go left
00:49:48Califiori doubles up with him
00:49:49Rice goes into the centre back
00:49:51Position
00:49:51Absolute
00:49:52Brilliant defending
00:49:53So they've had the high
00:49:54We've had the middle
00:49:55And this is what they've been doing
00:49:57Especially in the Champions League
00:49:58Against really good sides
00:50:00In that low block
00:50:01Saying to Fulham
00:50:02Play
00:50:03Play round us
00:50:04Because you're not going to play through us
00:50:05And if they do get through
00:50:06It's going to have to be
00:50:08Something
00:50:08Exceptional
00:50:09To really
00:50:10Do that
00:50:11Nice and compact
00:50:13Excellent
00:50:14And yeah
00:50:16I mean
00:50:16The compactness
00:50:17In the centre of the pitch
00:50:19Of this team
00:50:20Is just brilliant
00:50:21So the conclusion of that
00:50:23If they continue to do this
00:50:24Last season they drew 1-0
00:50:26Today they get the win
00:50:27And if they want to win the league
00:50:28They need to carry on
00:50:29With this form
00:50:30Because look at that
00:50:31Goals conceded first
00:50:32Clean sheets first
00:50:33Big chances against first
00:50:35XG
00:50:35And the rest is history
00:50:37May well be
00:50:40Maybe
00:50:40As you allude to there
00:50:42Defensively
00:50:42Yes very very strong
00:50:43They've scored the same amount of goals
00:50:44At this stage as they did last year
00:50:46Which is 15 goals
00:50:47And all season long
00:50:48We were hearing
00:50:48They really need a centre forward
00:50:49They need somebody
00:50:50Who can bag them a load of goals
00:50:51They buy the centre forward
00:50:53In Jockeris
00:50:54And he hasn't got the goals
00:50:55But has he helped improve them
00:50:57Yeah he hasn't got the goals
00:50:58I mean he's not in the league
00:50:59Of the three
00:51:00We showed in the previous clip
00:51:02Far from that
00:51:03But I think he brings
00:51:04A different strength
00:51:05There's no doubt
00:51:06That he will have to improve
00:51:07His goal scoring
00:51:08As you said
00:51:09He's only got three
00:51:10But one of his strengths
00:51:12Which has suited Arsenal
00:51:13Is he actually goes
00:51:14The other way
00:51:15He goes in behind
00:51:15And I think
00:51:16When he does that
00:51:17That then creates space
00:51:19For others to play
00:51:20Because last season
00:51:21You had maybe Havertz
00:51:23Or Mourinho
00:51:23Mourinho
00:51:24Coming short
00:51:26And that's easier
00:51:26For teams to defend against
00:51:28But when you're running
00:51:29The other way
00:51:29They get deeper
00:51:30And deeper
00:51:31That then opens the space
00:51:33For others to play
00:51:34So I think
00:51:34From that point of view
00:51:36He has improved Arsenal
00:51:37And will he get the goals
00:51:39Do you feel like
00:51:39I think he will get the goals
00:51:41Obviously nowhere near
00:51:42As many as he got
00:51:42Last season
00:51:43But he will get the goals
00:51:44With the number of chances
00:51:46That Arsenal create
00:51:47He will
00:51:47And his numbers
00:51:48Should improve
00:51:49OK
00:51:49Two games
00:51:50On tomorrow's
00:51:51Match of the day
00:51:52There's live commentary
00:52:16Of both of those games

00:52:22Champions League games

00:52:25And if you fancy
00:52:26Something a bit different
00:52:27You can watch
00:52:28The final day
00:52:29Of Grand Sumo Tournament
00:52:31Live from the Royal Albert Hall
00:52:33On iPlayer
00:52:34From 2 o'clock
00:52:35Winless Wolves
00:52:37Travelled to face
00:52:38A Sunderland side
00:52:39Unbeaten at home
00:52:40Since returning
00:52:41To the top flight
00:52:41Your commentator
00:52:42Is Guy Mowbray
00:52:43It's been a more than
00:52:46Decent start
00:52:46By Sunderland
00:52:47And a very successful
00:52:49Return to the Premier League
00:52:50For Granit Xhaka
00:52:51He's provided the assist
00:52:53For all the team's
00:52:54Last three goals
00:52:54And has fond memories
00:52:56Of Wolves
00:52:56From last time
00:52:57He played them
00:52:57Scoring twice
00:52:58In his final Arsenal
00:52:59Appearance
00:53:00A 5-0 win
00:53:01In May 2023
00:53:02Fellow
00:53:0333-year-old
00:53:04Matt Doherty
00:53:05Is the only one
00:53:06Playing today
00:53:07Who also figured
00:53:08The last time
00:53:08These clubs met
00:53:09Way back
00:53:10And a division down
00:53:11In May 2018
00:53:12He missed Wolves
00:53:14Last game
00:53:14Against Brighton
00:53:15Following a wrist operation
00:53:16But he's quickly back
00:53:18To lead them
00:53:18In their quest
00:53:19For a first win
00:53:20Of the season
00:53:21The Black Cats
00:53:23Purring
00:53:24Especially at home
00:53:25Whilst Wolves
00:53:26Are howling
00:53:27And if they don't
00:53:27Get that first win
00:53:28Here today
00:53:29Or against Burnley
00:53:30Next weekend
00:53:30Then the anguish
00:53:32Will be at a maximum
00:53:33Siddiqui
00:53:37Isidore
00:53:39Johnston
00:53:41Scampers back
00:53:41Towards his goal
00:53:42Isidore's got a lot
00:53:43To do
00:53:44But he's done it
00:53:45And now the flag
00:53:47Goes up
00:53:48So Isidore's
00:53:51Celebrations
00:53:52Are cut short
00:53:53Brilliantly finished
00:53:55By Wilson Isidore
00:53:56Who is looking to
00:53:58Carry on
00:53:59Being Mr. 100%
00:54:00At home
00:54:00He's scored in
00:54:01Every game
00:54:01At the Stadium
00:54:02Of Light
00:54:02In the Premier League
00:54:03This season
00:54:04And for a brief moment
00:54:05He thought he'd done it again
00:54:06Looking for a
00:54:09Third home win
00:54:10Already this season
00:54:11The last time
00:54:12They were in the Premier League
00:54:13In 2016-17
00:54:15They only won three
00:54:16At home all season
00:54:17Xhaka
00:54:20Le Fay
00:54:25Effortlessly found
00:54:26By Xhaka
00:54:27He turns
00:54:28Doherty
00:54:29With ease
00:54:29As well
00:54:30Here's Mukiele
00:54:31He's going for the return
00:54:34And he's scored
00:54:36And he's scored
00:54:36What a wonderful
00:54:40Sondland move
00:54:41Finished off by
00:54:43Nardi Mukiele
00:54:44It's for Sondland goal
00:54:45Look at Mukiele
00:54:47As soon as he laid it off
00:54:49He demanded the return
00:54:52From Trey Hume
00:54:53And he managed to get the shot
00:54:55Through Sam Johnston
00:54:57Who will feel that
00:54:58Never mind
00:54:59Should have saved it
00:55:00At one point
00:55:01He had saved it
00:55:02In Sondland 1
00:55:03Wolves 0
00:55:04Trey Hume
00:55:06Trey Hore
00:55:07Cut out by Ugo Buena
00:55:11Wolves have got to hang on
00:55:13Just for the moment
00:55:14Because Sondland are well on top
00:55:16Of Vitor Pereira's team
00:55:17Helt on by Ballard
00:55:22And off the post
00:55:24Trey Hume
00:55:24So close
00:55:25To making it two
00:55:27I see the cobs whirring
00:55:31In Trey Hume's mind
00:55:32Head it
00:55:33Kick it
00:55:34What do I do
00:55:34I think he picked
00:55:35The right option
00:55:35Very nearly scored
00:55:37Ugo Gomez
00:55:42Who's going for it
00:55:43Mukiele is going away
00:55:46With it
00:55:46Rigg
00:55:47Oh
00:55:48Risky
00:55:48Ballard couldn't collect it
00:55:50Strand Larson
00:55:51Couldn't convert it
00:55:52Zao Gomez
00:55:55Wolves nearly gifted
00:55:56A way back into the game
00:55:58Andre
00:55:59And that one's flown
00:56:01It's felt like a half
00:56:05Of two halves
00:56:06Sondland on top
00:56:08For the first quarter
00:56:09Wolves are
00:56:11Well in this game
00:56:13Andre
00:56:16Zao Gomez
00:56:18Rodrigo Gomez
00:56:21Lugo Bueno
00:56:26Arias knocks it down
00:56:29And Munezzi
00:56:29Let's fly
00:56:30Roofs positioned
00:56:33Absolutely brilliantly
00:56:35A really simple save
00:56:37For him
00:56:38Because of where he started
00:56:39He's too close
00:56:41To the giant frame
00:56:42Of Robin Roofs
00:56:42And curling
00:56:43Towards the goalkeeper
00:56:44All the time
00:56:45Siddiqui
00:56:47Le Fay
00:56:50It's bounced off him
00:56:51The referee does now
00:56:53Stop the game
00:56:53He was happy to see
00:56:56If some sort of advantage
00:56:57Would develop
00:56:58But it didn't
00:56:59That's a difficult one
00:57:07To defend
00:57:07But
00:57:08Wolves have managed it
00:57:10Ballard couldn't get
00:57:12The touch at the end
00:57:13Look at how this bounces
00:57:15A bit of spin on it
00:57:17That's what takes it away
00:57:18From the flying
00:57:19Ballard
00:57:20I think his expression
00:57:22Rather sums up
00:57:23This second half
00:57:24So does theirs
00:57:26Arakidari down to
00:57:31Strand Larson
00:57:32Arakidari misses it
00:57:34And then the chance
00:57:37Is put wide
00:57:37And it was another
00:57:38Big chance
00:57:39Chatua
00:57:41Was in behind
00:57:43Just wonder now
00:57:44If the Wolves candle
00:57:46Has flickered out
00:57:46Might be a case
00:57:48Of them needing
00:57:48To have
00:57:49Done more
00:57:50When they did have
00:57:51Spells on top
00:57:52And for much of this half
00:57:53That's been the case
00:57:54Fair Lopez
00:57:58Challenged by Alderete
00:58:00But he's
00:58:00Got the better of him
00:58:01Fair Lopez
00:58:03Puts the next ball
00:58:04Into the Sunderland box
00:58:05Frantic defending now
00:58:07And he trousers away with it
00:58:09And look at the break
00:58:10It's Talby
00:58:11He's got Le Fay up there
00:58:12He's got Mayenda
00:58:13Further over
00:58:14And Johnston's been
00:58:16Feeding by his own player
00:58:182-0 Sunderland
00:58:19Own goal
00:58:20Critchie
00:58:21Now the win is sealed
00:58:27Wolves' rotten luck
00:58:29Continues
00:58:30Perhaps appropriately enough
00:58:33Beaten by the Black Cats
00:58:34Talby leading the counter charge
00:58:38He was looking for Mayenda
00:58:40At the back
00:58:41Critchie knew he had to
00:58:43Cut it out somehow
00:58:44But Johnston was
00:58:45Completely wrong footed
00:58:47By that
00:58:47Wolves are staying bottom
00:58:49Sunderland are staying
00:58:51With that feeling
00:58:52Of flying high
00:58:53In the Premier League
00:58:54Was it a little bit anxious
00:58:57In the second half
00:58:58Without that second goal
00:58:59On the board?
00:59:00Yeah probably a bit
00:59:02Because we are still
00:59:03A young team
00:59:03With limited
00:59:05Shared experience
00:59:06So
00:59:07You can't
00:59:09Buy maturity
00:59:10You have to experience
00:59:12Different situations
00:59:13It wasn't another one
00:59:14And at least
00:59:16The mindset
00:59:17The togetherness
00:59:19Helped us
00:59:20To keep this
00:59:21Kinship
00:59:22We have two or three chances
00:59:23That we cannot lose
00:59:24We cannot miss
00:59:25But it's football
00:59:26Keep working
00:59:29And prepare the next game
00:59:33Because it's a game
00:59:35That we must win
00:59:37Like today
00:59:38But we must score goals
00:59:41Not concede goals
00:59:43And this is what we should do
00:59:45Nourdi Mukieli
00:59:46He seems to sum this team up
00:59:48He plays happy football
00:59:50Yeah absolutely
00:59:51He has a really good energy
00:59:53And he's really well connected
00:59:56With our project
00:59:57Our team
00:59:59And he's a good player
01:00:01We play very well
01:00:03The first half
01:00:03And the second
01:00:04And yeah
01:00:05We scored two goals
01:00:06And we don't concede
01:00:07So this is really important
01:00:08For us
01:00:09For the team
01:00:09And for the confidence
01:00:10And yeah
01:00:11I'm really happy
01:00:12Also for my first goal
01:00:14At home
01:00:15And yeah
01:00:16Just hope that
01:00:16We will keep going
01:00:17Like we do
01:00:17Because we did
01:00:19A really good game today
01:00:20Well no spoilers
01:00:22But the fact that
01:00:22Sunderland are higher up
01:00:23The running order
01:00:24Than Newcastle on the show
01:00:25And you're here
01:00:25Might tell us something
01:00:26About what's going to happen
01:00:27In that match
01:00:28But let's not
01:00:28Let's not go down that road
01:00:29Because actually
01:00:30Huge credit to Sunderland
01:00:31For their start of the season
01:00:32Have a little look at this
01:00:3399 teams
01:00:35Have been promoted
01:00:35To the Premier League
01:00:36In its history
01:00:37And they are joint fifth
01:00:38In the amount of points
01:00:40They've managed to accrue
01:00:41In their first eight games
01:00:43Joint with obviously
01:00:44The teams there
01:00:45Going up to Middlesbrough
01:00:46Who are the only team
01:00:48Out of that list
01:00:49Who actually ended up
01:00:50Being relegated
01:00:50So it's boding very well
01:00:52For them this start
01:00:53Of the season
01:00:53And their home form
01:00:54So well
01:00:55I think they signed
01:00:56Really good players
01:00:57Yes they spent
01:00:57A lot of money
01:00:59But they brought quality
01:01:01Into the squad
01:01:01Xhaka's been good
01:01:02Muchielli as well
01:01:04And you want to give
01:01:04Sunderland some praise
01:01:05Don't you Alan?
01:01:06Well you watch this game
01:01:07Mika
01:01:08So you can talk about them
01:01:09But we did say
01:01:10About their home form
01:01:11Was always going to be key
01:01:12And that's been part
01:01:14Of their success
01:01:15161 million they spent
01:01:1614 players have been brought in
01:01:18But they've got to gel
01:01:20They've got to work
01:01:20They've got to be quality
01:01:21Yeah I think that's the most important thing
01:01:24You can sign whoever you want
01:01:25But they've got to buy into
01:01:26Exactly what they want to do
01:01:28And they've got to perform
01:01:29And like you said
01:01:30Other than what
01:01:30Three wins and a draw at home
01:01:32They're using their stadium
01:01:33As a fortress
01:01:34And you know
01:01:36I want to eat a little bit
01:01:36Of humble pie as well
01:01:37Because of the amount
01:01:38Of players they signed
01:01:40I thought it would be
01:01:41Difficult for them
01:01:42And they've done better
01:01:43Than I expected
01:01:44And long may it continue
01:01:45Because it's a really good story
01:01:48Muchielli there
01:01:49With obviously
01:01:50A fantastic goal for him
01:01:51And obviously
01:01:52We've got to mention Wolves
01:01:53Who are still winless
01:01:55Wasn't a good start
01:01:56To them last season either
01:01:58But they've got
01:01:58Same as what happened
01:01:59Last season
01:02:00They didn't win any
01:02:01In first eight last season
01:02:02I think their next home game
01:02:03Is Burnley
01:02:04They have to win that
01:02:06OK
01:02:07Up next
01:02:08Brighton face Newcastle
01:02:09With the Magpies
01:02:10Never having won
01:02:11A Premier League game
01:02:12At the Amex
01:02:13Steve Wilson was there
01:02:14Nine points from seven games
01:02:18Is a slightly underwhelming
01:02:19Tally for both these clubs
01:02:20Who've come a long way
01:02:21Since being promoted together
01:02:23In 2017
01:02:24Fabian Ertsema
01:02:26Makes one chase
01:02:27To Brighton XI
01:02:28Which salvaged the late point
01:02:29At Wolves
01:02:30Gruder has a knock
01:02:31And is replaced by Ruter
01:02:33Nick Valtemada
01:02:34Scored his first goal
01:02:35For Germany
01:02:36In the international break
01:02:37Adding to a goal
01:02:38In each of his last three
01:02:40For Newcastle
01:02:40No changes
01:02:42From the win over Forest
01:02:43If this game were to finish
01:02:46Goalless then Newcastle
01:02:47Then Newcastle would be the first club
01:02:49In 90 years
01:02:50To play out goalless draws
01:02:51In each of their first
01:02:53Four away league games
01:02:55Trivia
01:02:58Little bit of room
01:02:59Crosses a decent one
01:03:02And it was Joe Linton
01:03:02And it was Joe Linton
01:03:03Who attacked it
01:03:03Tonali turns it back
01:03:04Into Bruno Guimaraes
01:03:06Who did really well
01:03:07To find some space
01:03:08And is not far away
01:03:10That little step away
01:03:12From Dunk
01:03:13Just gave him the room
01:03:14He needed to get the shot away
01:03:16Eddie Howe used to be
01:03:19The fresh-faced
01:03:20Bright young thing
01:03:22Of Premier League management
01:03:23But Fabian Ertsema
01:03:25Is 15 years younger
01:03:27Oh Joe Linton's
01:03:34Giving it away to Welbeck
01:03:36Jorginho Ruter
01:03:37Here for Brighton
01:03:38It's a good effort
01:03:40And a good save
01:03:41Well Joe Linton
01:03:44Will be mightily relieved
01:03:45They thought they had
01:03:48Ruter penned in
01:03:49He did very well
01:03:50To get the shot away
01:03:51On target
01:03:51Good save by Pope
01:03:532017 Newcastle
01:03:56Went up to the Premier League
01:03:57One of the biggest champions
01:03:58Just one point ahead
01:04:00Of Brighton
01:04:00Who went up
01:04:01As runners-up
01:04:02In 17 meetings since
01:04:03Newcastle have only won two
01:04:05Ruter
01:04:07Ruter through to Welbeck
01:04:11And nipped in
01:04:13By Danny Welbeck
01:04:14And that was
01:04:16So straightforward
01:04:17So simple
01:04:19Straight down the middle
01:04:22And Brighton are in front
01:04:24But Ruter
01:04:25Collected the pass
01:04:27Simply accelerated
01:04:29Simply accelerated away
01:04:29From Tonali
01:04:30Threaded it through to Welbeck
01:04:33Who clipped it over Pope
01:04:34Well how did Newcastle
01:04:37Allow them to stroll through
01:04:38So simply
01:04:40It's beautifully taken
01:04:41By Welbeck
01:04:42Brighton 1-0
01:04:43Brighton 1-0
01:04:43Newcastle 0-0
01:04:44Oh he's done well Belieber
01:04:53Four in this Brighton attack
01:04:55This is Ruter
01:04:57Cardiolo
01:05:00Put it into a great area
01:05:02But luckily for Newcastle
01:05:04There weren't any blue and white jerseys
01:05:05There and Botman cleared
01:05:06There's a few appeals here from Brighton
01:05:08Banheka with a very strong challenge
01:05:10De Kaipa
01:05:17Cardiolo
01:05:19De Kaipa
01:05:21Pope managed to keep it away
01:05:23They're hanging on here
01:05:26Newcastle
01:05:26That's a good save by Pope
01:05:30Well hit
01:05:31By De Kaipa
01:05:32There were a few appeals here
01:05:33For handball
01:05:34Don't think you can go
01:05:35Giving those
01:05:36It could be a corner
01:05:43Unless Dunk prevents it
01:05:45Bruno Guimaraes
01:05:58Was looking for the contact
01:05:59With Cardiolo
01:06:00And then recovered
01:06:02It's pushed away by Verbruggen
01:06:04Newcastle appeal
01:06:05Murphy has it
01:06:07And Murphy's
01:06:08Well off the mark
01:06:09Well Bruno Guimaraes
01:06:12It seemed to me
01:06:13Was looking for the contact
01:06:14With Cardiolo
01:06:16He's done well
01:06:18To get back on his feet
01:06:19Smashing it across goal
01:06:20Pope pushed it out
01:06:21Now did it hit
01:06:22Viva on the arm
01:06:23You'd say it did
01:06:26It does hit his hand
01:06:29But
01:06:29Deemed to be in a natural position
01:06:32Which seems
01:06:32Reasonable enough to me
01:06:34Murphy
01:06:43Murphy
01:06:43Bruno Guimaraes
01:06:48Good ball
01:06:48Lewis Miley
01:06:49Voltamada
01:06:50Brilliant
01:06:50Oh that's brilliant
01:06:52Scores all kinds of goals
01:06:58This kid
01:06:58This is a lovely goal
01:07:03Brilliant
01:07:07Impudent
01:07:10And outstanding
01:07:12Brighton won
01:07:14Newcastle won
01:07:15Nick Voltamada
01:07:17Has made a huge impact
01:07:19On the Premier League
01:07:20And here's Harvey Barnes
01:07:23And now Murphy
01:07:25And Bruno Guimaraes
01:07:27And Voltamada
01:07:29Couldn't quite take it with him
01:07:30Dan Byrne with the throw
01:07:41Oh that was very awkward
01:07:43For Verbruggen
01:07:44And Bruno Guimaraes
01:07:46Sees it
01:07:46Fly over the top
01:07:47Of the bar
01:07:48For a corner
01:07:48Verbruggen
01:07:50Was in a lot of bother
01:07:52Bruno Guimaraes
01:07:54Drove it
01:07:56And it hit Ayari
01:07:57On the thigh
01:07:57And flew over
01:07:58Lewis Dunk
01:08:01Yes in IRE
01:08:05Oh that's a really good run
01:08:06Vifa's been well found
01:08:07Super challenged
01:08:09But well back
01:08:09He hadn't scored
01:08:16At the Amex
01:08:17Since February
01:08:17And he was about
01:08:19To be substituted
01:08:20But he's got his second
01:08:22To this game
01:08:23And put Brighton
01:08:25Back in front
01:08:25All about the run
01:08:29Of Mats Vifa
01:08:30Really
01:08:30It's a great challenge
01:08:33But it fell beautifully
01:08:35For Welbeck
01:08:35And he tucked it away
01:08:38With such aplomb
01:08:39And his name
01:08:43Rings around the Amex
01:08:45We showed resilience
01:08:48We showed character
01:08:49We showed personality
01:08:50On the pitch
01:08:51And we stick to our principle
01:08:52We stayed in our formation
01:08:54We kept the structure
01:08:56Quite well
01:08:57And then we get the reward
01:08:58So I'm very pleased
01:09:00With the performance
01:09:01Or
01:09:01We're disappointed
01:09:02With the first half
01:09:03Performance really
01:09:04A bright start
01:09:05And then we faded
01:09:05The last half an hour
01:09:07That first half
01:09:08Was hard to watch
01:09:10Really
01:09:10I don't think
01:09:11We were particularly
01:09:11Good with the ball
01:09:12And we ended up
01:09:12In transition
01:09:13An awful lot
01:09:14And Brighton scored
01:09:15In that period
01:09:16We were pleased
01:09:16To get in at 1-0
01:09:17And then try and regroup
01:09:18We were much better
01:09:19In the second half
01:09:19We gave a much better
01:09:20Account of ourselves
01:09:21We looked like we could score
01:09:22We were a goal threat
01:09:23And when we conceded
01:09:25The second goal
01:09:25We were the dominant team
01:09:27There's always that possibility
01:09:28You've got to sniff it out
01:09:29That the ball could fall your way
01:09:31So I just
01:09:32I was kind of
01:09:33Wondering
01:09:35Trying to see
01:09:36If it could fall nicely
01:09:37For me
01:09:38And it did
01:09:39And I stuck it away
01:09:40Very nicely
01:09:40The years you've been
01:09:42Playing at this level
01:09:43You just look like
01:09:43A guy who's really
01:09:44Enjoying himself
01:09:45No
01:09:46I'm hating it
01:09:46No I love it
01:09:49I've got the passion
01:09:51And love for football
01:09:52So when I'm out there
01:09:53On the pitch
01:09:54It's what I want to do
01:09:55I'm feeling good
01:09:56I feel fit
01:09:57I feel strong
01:09:57So it's not
01:09:58It's not a time
01:09:59Of stopping any time
01:10:00Shortly
01:10:01Did they deserve
01:10:03The win today
01:10:03Brighton
01:10:04Yeah
01:10:04I thought Brighton
01:10:05Were the better team
01:10:06Newcastle I thought
01:10:08Were too easy
01:10:09To play through
01:10:10At times
01:10:10And Brighton
01:10:11Found that way
01:10:12Of finding that extra man
01:10:14In front of the back four
01:10:15And Newcastle's midfield
01:10:17And in fact
01:10:17Newcastle covered less ground
01:10:20Six kilometres less ground
01:10:21Than Brighton
01:10:22Outer possession
01:10:23And that tells you
01:10:24We talk about
01:10:25Whether it was
01:10:26Joe Linton
01:10:26Or Bruno
01:10:27Travelling back from
01:10:28Playing Japan
01:10:29In South Korea
01:10:30Or whatever
01:10:31Or Tenale playing
01:10:32For Italy
01:10:33But it was unusual
01:10:34For Newcastle
01:10:35The first goals
01:10:35Have conceded away
01:10:36From home
01:10:37And this is what
01:10:37Brighton did
01:10:38Really really well
01:10:39Getting in
01:10:40Those positions there
01:10:41And the midfield
01:10:42Just couldn't cope
01:10:44With that
01:10:44That's a brilliant
01:10:45Ball through
01:10:45And a very
01:10:46Very clever
01:10:47Finish
01:10:47And it happened
01:10:48A few occasions
01:10:49There's the midfield
01:10:50They just played
01:10:51Around them
01:10:52Look
01:10:52Joe Linton comes in
01:10:53It's not really
01:10:53It's not really a press
01:10:54And the passing
01:10:55And the moving
01:10:56From Brighton
01:10:57Again was excellent
01:10:58I know they came
01:11:00Into it a lot more
01:11:00In the second half
01:11:01Newcastle
01:11:02But they took
01:11:03Joe Linton off
01:11:03They brought
01:11:04Lewis Miley
01:11:05Onto the pitch
01:11:06But still
01:11:07They were finding
01:11:08Those little bits
01:11:09Of space
01:11:09Just in between
01:11:10There you go
01:11:11Iari is there
01:11:12And again
01:11:13That pass is correct
01:11:14And before Newcastle
01:11:15Can react
01:11:15They're too late
01:11:16And they should have
01:11:17Been punished
01:11:18Again
01:11:18And this was
01:11:19The winning goal
01:11:21Coming up
01:11:21The movement's
01:11:22Fantastic
01:11:22From Brighton
01:11:23Look at Weaver
01:11:24There getting
01:11:25Into that space
01:11:25Albeit
01:11:26He doesn't get
01:11:27That ball
01:11:27Doesn't come for him
01:11:28But that
01:11:29Is such a
01:11:30Clever finish
01:11:31It really
01:11:32Really is
01:11:33And it has to
01:11:34Because Newcastle
01:11:35Normally
01:11:36In those positions
01:11:37They're really strong
01:11:38But today
01:11:39They weren't
01:11:40Look at that
01:11:40Micah
01:11:41He's ageing
01:11:42Like a fine wine
01:11:43Isn't he
01:11:43Danny Welbeck
01:11:44He's on to score
01:11:45More goals
01:11:46In his 30s
01:11:47Than he did
01:11:48In his 20s
01:11:48He only needs
01:11:49Five more
01:11:49To equal his 20s
01:11:51Totals
01:11:51He's 34 years old
01:11:52So it's feasible
01:11:54That he'll do that
01:11:55Before he's 35
01:11:55He's just a fantastic pro
01:11:57I mean he's had
01:11:58His knee injuries
01:11:58As well
01:11:59But he plays
01:12:00In a system
01:12:00That suits him
01:12:01And he said
01:12:02In his interview
01:12:02There he loves football
01:12:03I think he's got
01:12:04Another three
01:12:05Four years in him
01:12:06I don't think
01:12:07He's finishing
01:12:07Anytime soon
01:12:08Because he's a number
01:12:09Nine
01:12:10And there's not
01:12:10Many number nines
01:12:11About there
01:12:12And I'm just
01:12:12Delighted for him
01:12:13Okay
01:12:13It was a battle
01:12:14Between two promoted
01:12:16Sides at Turfmoor
01:12:17As Burnley took on
01:12:18Leeds United
01:12:18Your commentator
01:12:19Tom Gale
01:12:19A six pointer
01:12:22A must win
01:12:23Or a must not lose
01:12:25Take your pick
01:12:26It's four defeats
01:12:27Across their last five
01:12:28For Burnley
01:12:29Zian Fleming
01:12:30Comes in to make
01:12:31His first Premier League
01:12:32Start
01:12:32Replacing the injured
01:12:33Lyle Foster
01:12:34Leslie Ugochukwu
01:12:36And Jakob Brun Larsson
01:12:37Also return to the 11
01:12:38Daniel Farkas
01:12:40Four game streak
01:12:41Of naming the same
01:12:42Lead starting line
01:12:43Up comes to an end
01:12:44Jack Harrison
01:12:45Replaces Noah Okafor
01:12:46Who's sidelined
01:12:47With a thigh problem
01:12:48Substitute Dan James
01:12:50Returned from injury
01:12:51Five weeks ahead
01:12:52Of schedule
01:12:52January's championship
01:12:57Meeting between
01:12:58These two
01:12:59Ended goalless
01:13:00With just a single
01:13:01Shot on target
01:13:02Surely no one
01:13:03Here today
01:13:04Wants a repeat
01:13:04Of that
01:13:05Stark has a lot
01:13:08Of room
01:13:09The away supporters
01:13:11Wanted him to shoot
01:13:12Aronson
01:13:14Acrobatic stuff
01:13:15From Dominic Calvert-Lewin
01:13:17Talk about
01:13:19Trying to make
01:13:20Something out of nothing
01:13:21This would have been
01:13:23A spectacular finish
01:13:25Today Daniel Farkas
01:13:28Side start a run
01:13:29Where three of the next
01:13:30Four games
01:13:31Are away from home
01:13:32Taking them into
01:13:33The November
01:13:34International break
01:13:35Miscommunication there
01:13:38Amongst the leads
01:13:39Back line
01:13:39Needlessly conceding
01:13:42To throw
01:13:42For the first time
01:13:45This afternoon
01:13:45Perhaps a chance
01:13:47To see
01:13:47The Kyle Walker
01:13:49Long throw
01:13:49It's a decent one
01:13:53Met by Strauch
01:13:54Harrison
01:13:55Trying to prevent
01:13:56The corner
01:13:56Does so
01:13:58Walker can go
01:14:01Again
01:14:02Pulls it short
01:14:04This time
01:14:04Gets it back
01:14:05That's a decent
01:14:06Ball
01:14:07And it's met
01:14:10By the head
01:14:11Of Leslie
01:14:12Ugachukwu
01:14:13The Frenchman
01:14:16Scores
01:14:17In back-to-back
01:14:18Premier League
01:14:19Games
01:14:19And gives his
01:14:22Side the ideal
01:14:23Springboard
01:14:24In what is
01:14:27A high-stakes
01:14:28Game
01:14:28Parker's not
01:14:30Fazed
01:14:31Just like they
01:14:32Planned
01:14:33What a ball
01:14:34This is
01:14:35From Kyle Walker
01:14:36He's just begging
01:14:38For someone
01:14:38To get on the
01:14:39End of it
01:14:39We have to credit
01:14:41Ugachukwu
01:14:42He does the rest
01:14:44No chance
01:14:45For Darlow
01:14:46Burnley 1
01:14:47Leeds United
01:14:480
01:14:48Colour
01:14:52Burnley free kick
01:14:54Anthony
01:15:00Presents it
01:15:01Straight to
01:15:01Harrison
01:15:02It's opening up
01:15:03Aronson
01:15:04Off the post
01:15:06Scott Parker
01:15:09Would have been
01:15:09Furious
01:15:10If that would have
01:15:11Resulted in an
01:15:12Equaliser
01:15:13For the visitors
01:15:14What a golden
01:15:15Opportunity this is
01:15:17For Brendan
01:15:17Aronson
01:15:18But we have to
01:15:19But we have to credit
01:15:19Martin Dubravka
01:15:21Proving his
01:15:22Fine goalkeeping
01:15:23Abilities
01:15:24Benefiting from
01:15:25The aid of a post
01:15:26And Padua
01:15:29Longstaff
01:15:31Patient build up here
01:15:33From Leeds United
01:15:34And was he caught
01:15:34There he was
01:15:35Anthony
01:15:38The guilty party
01:15:39It is
01:15:44Anton
01:15:45Stack
01:15:45An excellent save
01:15:48And he strikes it well
01:15:52It's goalkeeper side though
01:15:53So Dubravka did have a good
01:15:55Sight of it
01:15:56Save still needed to be made
01:15:57Longstaff
01:16:06His cross
01:16:10Harrison
01:16:10Best moment
01:16:13Of the second half
01:16:15For Leeds United
01:16:16So far
01:16:16That was a chance
01:16:19And he knows it
01:16:20Stroke
01:16:23Walker read that
01:16:27Will he get there first
01:16:29He will
01:16:3035 but still
01:16:33Blistering pace
01:16:34Checks back to find
01:16:39Cullen
01:16:40Chowney
01:16:47He has room
01:16:48Chowney
01:16:49Scream
01:16:51Scream it
01:16:54From the Burnley
01:16:55Substitute
01:16:56There didn't seem
01:16:58To be much on
01:16:59So he thought
01:17:00Why not
01:17:01What a way
01:17:04To score
01:17:04Your first goal
01:17:06In Burnley colours
01:17:07He's not closed down
01:17:08But wow
01:17:10Burnley
01:17:11Double their
01:17:12Advantage
01:17:13Courtesy of Scott Parker
01:17:15Bringing a man on

01:17:17Bloom Chowney
01:17:18Makes it
01:17:19Burnley
01:17:20Two
01:17:20Leeds United
01:17:22Now
01:17:22James
01:17:27Checks
01:17:28Back to Longstaff
01:17:30Towards Calvert-Lewin
01:17:32And Bogle
01:17:33How has he not
01:17:37Put that away
01:17:38Calvert-Lewin's effort
01:17:41Hangs in the air
01:17:42And
01:17:42Bogle
01:17:44Kicks the advertising
01:17:45Hoarding
01:17:46In frustration
01:17:47James's delivery
01:17:51James' delivery
01:17:51Towards Calvert-Lewin
01:17:52And Padua
01:17:53Couldn't wrap his leg
01:17:54Around it
01:17:54Walker can't clear either
01:17:58Chowney has stayed down
01:18:03Goodmanson
01:18:07Goodmanson
01:18:07Goodmanson
01:18:07It's cross
01:18:09And I think
01:18:10Matcha got the final
01:18:11Touch there
01:18:12It's going to be
01:18:14A second win of the season
01:18:16For Scott Parker
01:18:17And for the first time
01:18:18Burnley have beaten
01:18:19Leeds United
01:18:20In the Premier League
01:18:21Burnley two
01:18:22Leeds United nil
01:18:23I thought the performance
01:18:25Was everything we planned
01:18:26To come here today
01:18:27Really
01:18:28So
01:18:28Hugely competitive team
01:18:30And we probably
01:18:31Experienced that
01:18:32Last year
01:18:33Certainly went toe-to-toe
01:18:34With Leeds
01:18:34For some time
01:18:35Throughout that year
01:18:36But overall today
01:18:39First and foremost
01:18:40Coming to get a result
01:18:41And we've managed
01:18:43To do that
01:18:43Your first Burnley goal
01:18:45And what a goal
01:18:46Can you talk us
01:18:47Through it please
01:18:48I'm very happy
01:18:51I'm full
01:18:52I'm excited
01:18:55And proud
01:18:57Satisfied
01:18:58Because it's long work
01:19:00I work every day
01:19:01For this
01:19:02With City
01:19:02It's a beautiful goal
01:19:04I'm happy
01:19:05You have to be clinical
01:19:06Especially as a newly
01:19:07Promoted side
01:19:07And yeah
01:19:09Each of your situation counts
01:19:10So to be self-critical
01:19:11You have to say
01:19:13We didn't have this
01:19:13Effectiveness level
01:19:14Like they had
01:19:15Performance-wise
01:19:16I can't complain about anything
01:19:18But this is how football works
01:19:19When Daniel and the Leeds fans
01:19:21Look at those stats
01:19:22They will wonder
01:19:22How they came away
01:19:24From Turf Moor
01:19:25With nothing
01:19:25Yeah Leeds were excellent
01:19:27Apart from
01:19:28You know
01:19:28Putting the ball
01:19:29In the back of the net
01:19:29Absolutely dominated the game
01:19:31But Burnley
01:19:32Stayed in the game
01:19:33And took the chances
01:19:34When needed
01:19:35Kyle Walker
01:19:36With the first one
01:19:37A great great cross
01:19:38Into Ogochukwu
01:19:39And then the second one
01:19:41Chuana
01:19:41What a strike this is
01:19:43He finds a little space
01:19:45In there
01:19:45And the turn
01:19:47Too much time
01:19:49And he just
01:19:49Absolutely belts it
01:19:52I mean the technique
01:19:53Is just sublime
01:19:54Sort of cuts across it
01:19:56The goalkeeper
01:19:57No chance
01:19:58I mean
01:19:59What an amazing goal that was
01:20:01And another promoted side
01:20:02That is really building
01:20:03On their home form
01:20:04Yeah but even if you look
01:20:05At the stats
01:20:06That won't bother Burnley
01:20:07Because it was something
01:20:08Similar to like that
01:20:08In the championship
01:20:09Last season
01:20:10So they've just carried that on
01:20:11But yeah
01:20:11Their home form
01:20:12Is going to be key
01:20:13Like it is for every
01:20:14Premier League club
01:20:15That comes up
01:20:17Yeah
01:20:17And we mentioned a minute ago
01:20:18Didn't we
01:20:18Of course
01:20:19It's Wolves next away
01:20:20You know
01:20:21And that's a pivotal game
01:20:22For both
01:20:22They're going to target
01:20:23Games away
01:20:24Obviously
01:20:24Yeah but I think
01:20:24If you look at the bigger picture
01:20:26For Burnley
01:20:26I think Scott
01:20:27And his staff
01:20:28Will be reasonably happy
01:20:29With the start
01:20:31That they've made
01:20:31In the Premier League
01:20:32They've shown to people
01:20:34I think they're going
01:20:35To be competitive
01:20:36Particularly at home
01:20:37I think the good thing is
01:20:39When Burnley was under
01:20:41Vincent Kompany
01:20:41They tried to play
01:20:42A style of play
01:20:43Obviously they didn't work
01:20:44For the team
01:20:44Worked for Kompany
01:20:45He's gone to Bayern Munich
01:20:46But now
01:20:47They've got a defensive style
01:20:48Stuck to what they know
01:20:50And it's working for them
01:20:51And home form
01:20:52Yeah and all three
01:20:53Promoted teams
01:20:54Are all out of the bottom three
01:20:55So they'll all be
01:20:56Very pleased with this start
01:20:57Actually
01:20:57Yeah sticking to their identity
01:20:59Working on their home form
01:21:00And at the moment
01:21:01Seems to be working for
01:21:02Them
01:21:02Well let's have a look
01:21:03Shall we
01:21:04As you're giving it away
01:21:04At the Premier League table
01:21:06No surprises then
01:21:08With Liverpool
01:21:09Not in action
01:21:10Until tomorrow
01:21:11Arsenal extend their lead
01:21:13At the top
01:21:13To three points
01:21:14But on the eight occasions
01:21:16Arsenal have had at least
01:21:1819 points at this stage
01:21:19They've gone on to win
01:21:20The title only once
01:21:21The combined telly
01:21:22Of 29 points
01:21:23By Sunderland, Leeds and Burnley
01:21:24Is 15 more
01:21:25Than the three promoter sides
01:21:26Managed this stage
01:21:27Of the season
01:21:28Last time
01:21:29Wolves fail to win
01:21:30Any of their opening
01:21:31Eight games
01:21:32For the second season running
01:21:33Well
01:21:35As we found out today
01:21:36It's going to take
01:21:37More than a shield
01:21:38To protect you
01:21:38If you're a Premier League manager
01:21:40As Ange Postacoglu
01:21:41Found out today
01:21:42Banished
01:21:43After 39 days
01:21:44And eight games
01:21:45You two can sleep easy
01:21:47Tonight
01:21:48On your way
01:21:49Good night
01:21:50He's going to be a person
01:21:53Officers
01:21:54Soon as we can do it
01:21:55It's going to be a woman
01:21:55And a man
01:21:56After 39 days
01:21:59He's going to be a man
01:22:00And a girl
01:22:00Hopefully
01:22:00He's going to be a man
01:22:01And a man
01:22:01He's going to be a man
01:22:02He's going to be a man
01:22:02Yeah
01:22:07Yeah
