00:00:00What a freak!
00:00:01Oh my God!
00:00:02Oh, look at that!
00:00:03Absolutely phenomenal!
00:00:05Rooney, a hole!
00:00:08Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:00:30Good evening.
00:00:51The festive fixtures continue apace.
00:00:53Six games on the way this evening.
00:00:55The last match of the day of 2025.
00:00:58Plenty of goals and incident for Danny Murphy and for Rob Green to discuss.
00:01:02And we will see the much-anticipated clash between Arsenal and Aston Villa.
00:01:06First versus third very shortly.
00:01:09But we're going to begin with a cracker at the London Stadium.
00:01:12West Ham are yet to win a home game.
00:01:14They're up against Brighton in the Premier League in eight previous attempts.
00:01:18Nuno Espirito Santos' side went into this one.
00:01:21Five points from safety.
00:01:22Commentary comes from Vicky Sparks.
00:01:25It's only 23 days since these two last met.
00:01:28When a last gasp Brighton equaliser denied West Ham a precious three points.
00:01:33How desperately the hosts need a victory here tonight.
00:01:37Winless in their last seven.
00:01:39Nuno Espirito Santos brings in Callum Wilson up top in a bid to stop the rot.
00:01:44With Crescente Somerville dropping to the bench.
00:01:47Brighton are without a win in five themselves as inconsistency continues to play their season.
00:01:53They make four changes.
00:01:54Danny Welbeck is fit enough to start with Mintec, Milner and Feltman also coming in.
00:01:59Alco, Ruter, Hinchelwood, Gruder and Coppola.
00:02:01The tone is back on the bench after illness.
00:02:04Doubling up there on Callum Wilson.
00:02:15It looks like it is his hold up play.
00:02:17Bowen should be in behind.
00:02:18Is he behind?
00:02:19Is he behind?
00:02:20Gidler down the lead.
00:02:22And early joy erupts around the London Stadium.
00:02:34It all starts with that long ball forward from Areola.
00:02:38Lamp Hecker winning the initial header but then Brighton don't cover themselves in glory.
00:02:43Bowen too strong.
00:02:44Bowen too fast.
00:02:45Bowen too accurate.
00:02:47West Ham on.
00:02:50Brighton nil.
00:02:53And he's pulled forward.
00:02:54Filled away by to Deboe.
00:02:55Only as far as Welbeck.
00:02:57All very nicely done.
00:02:58It's Mintec.
00:02:59It's Welbeck.
00:03:01It's a penalty.
00:03:03Well, it was a lovely move by Brighton.
00:03:08Well, they did eventually get the shot away.
00:03:13But this is what the spot kick was for.
00:03:16Oh, clear contact from Kilman.
00:03:19Brighton handed her way back into this.
00:03:24It's Welbeck against Areola.
00:03:31Daniel Welbeck emphatically equalizers.
00:03:38Well, he's still questioning the decision.
00:03:41Maximilian Kilman perhaps asking whether Mintec was already going down.
00:03:46With a thumping penalty from Danny Welbeck.
00:03:50Draws Brighton level.
00:03:52Womp Womp.
00:03:53Here's Mintec.
00:03:58Taking on Walker-Peters.
00:04:02And it will be a Brighton corner.
00:04:15Get a little bit of his delivery.
00:04:16Players tumbling everywhere.
00:04:18And it's another penalty.
00:04:21West Ham shell-shocked by two spot kick decisions in quick succession.
00:04:27And how this game has turned on its head.
00:04:31Well, it's Paketa on Dunk.
00:04:34And he does wrestle him down.
00:04:38And again, it's Welbeck against Areola.
00:04:44And Welbeck hits the bar.
00:04:51And can't convert the rebound.
00:04:53And now it's all kicking off.
00:04:59And tempers all of a sudden are flaring.
00:05:09Well, he went for the Penenka this time, Danny Welbeck.
00:05:14Relief for West Ham.
00:05:17And that is why it all boiled over there a little bit.
00:05:24So a yellow card for Danny Welbeck.
00:05:28A yellow card for Matthias Fernandes.
00:05:30Here's Fernandes.
00:05:35Here's Fernandes.
00:05:36Now Bowen.
00:05:37Fernandes taking off his toes by De Kuyper.
00:05:39But will fall to Bowen.
00:05:41Calioglu's done really well to read that.
00:05:44Not as though Bowen was wriggling through.
00:05:46Sculls gets it back.
00:05:49It's Callum Wilson.
00:05:50Oh, surely a handball there.
00:05:52Referee Michael Salisbury says no.
00:05:55And West Ham are absolutely aghast.
00:05:59And that is a poor challenge indeed.
00:06:06And it's all in danger of spilling over again.
00:06:09And Callum Wilson continues to say,
00:06:12that should have been a penalty our end.
00:06:15Which VAR are checking.
00:06:18Well, it's against Lewis Dunk.
00:06:22And there is going to be a video review.
00:06:25And I don't think that's a surprise.
00:06:27You can see why West Ham are appealing for it.
00:06:30Yes, it's close range.
00:06:32But the arm is very much out.
00:06:35He's in a natural action.
00:06:40After review.
00:06:42Brighton number five commits a humble offence inside the penalty area.
00:06:47The final decision is penalty and yellow card.
00:06:56So it is our third spot kick off the game.
00:06:59Penalty, yellow card.
00:07:02And Dunk's protesting.
00:07:05As if we didn't have enough going on here.
00:07:07West Ham are making a change.
00:07:11Torrivo is off.
00:07:14And Konstantinos Mavropanos enters the field.
00:07:20So it will be Lucas Paqueta.
00:07:26Who has scored all seven of his penalties in his West Ham career.
00:07:31It's Paqueta against Svobruggan.
00:07:33And Paqueta scores!
00:07:35That's how you do it.
00:07:36And West Ham are back in front.
00:07:39Now the end of a first half full of drama.
00:07:54Here he is again.
00:07:55Karou Matoma.
00:07:56Here he is again.
00:07:57Karou Matoma.
00:07:58What a deflection.
00:07:59And it will be at Brighton corner.
00:08:00December is not a happy month for Fabian Herzler.
00:08:01In fact, he is yet to win a game in December with Brighton.
00:08:03A difficult one to deal with, and it's in.
00:08:26and Brighton have fall back to level once more in this topsy-turvy game
00:08:39well it's a wicked delivery areola gets something on it
00:08:44but only as far as joel veltman his first brighton goal since may 2024
00:08:52and looking to maintain their momentum with mitoma he's done well oh beautiful areola just does enough
00:09:06it's a really smart save but that would have been a beautiful brighton goal
00:09:13ruta getting involved he's done really well
00:09:17cleared away by 18 year old ezra mayors they are finishing this game strongly
00:09:26scored late on in the draw with west ham earlier this month can they find a late winner
00:09:35once again and headed off the line
00:09:37areola stranded that time with sam under real pressure trying to clear and eventually will do
00:09:47so what a vital clearance by malpropanos to keep it at 2-2
00:09:54it's only the second time in premier league history that three penalties have been awarded in the
00:09:58first half of the game what was it like watching on from the touchline it was confusing i was uh just
00:10:04thinking i think um honestly the referees must uh again speak with with the players try to really
00:10:12explain to them which is contact which is excessive which can be foul because we see so many things so
00:10:17many contacts in the in the box now in set pieces that is confusing not a result we can't be happy with
00:10:24but uh in the end we tried it we we gave everything and in some moments we missed a little bit uh quality
00:10:32in some moments we we had a lack of of luck and uh therefore it's only a tutu
00:10:39so disappointing from a brighton point of view but for west ham rob this is something you've highlighted
00:10:44before is their inability to hold on to a lead yeah it's becoming a real issue and it has become a massive
00:10:50issue now for nuno you're looking at the amount of games that they've gone in front and not held on
00:10:55to that one nil lead you're looking at the only game that they have done was against nuno back in
00:11:00august and i highlighted it here against bournemouth and it was the same again today that in the second
00:11:06half they came out a goal up and just went back into the shells and just decided to defend defend defend
00:11:13and they're not good enough to do that they can't do that right now you look at the errors from
00:11:17areola from crosses you look at killman giving away a penalty his hand in the second goal as
00:11:22well piquetta's dealing with dunk for a penalty there's too many errors within the side just as
00:11:27an overall picture to say one goal is enough so it's a really difficult quandary for nuno to come into
00:11:34and they're now looking at their next few fixtures as kind of must-win games this is where they need to
00:11:39to start putting a run of form together that can take them out of the of the bottom three are there
00:11:45are there winnable fixtures in there do you think well they had winnable fixtures they had tonight
00:11:48they have fulham at the weekend which they lost one point from two home games and now you're going to
00:11:53wolves and wolves will be looking at that after tonight's result and saying we can win a game we
00:11:58can take a step forwards here they're looking to improve so all of a sudden the game against wolves
00:12:03a game against forest you're thinking they're four points behind off the off in the relegation zone
00:12:08so from there just to be in touch just to attract players to the club in january is going to be
00:12:14critical so i think this week is going to be huge we heard fabian herzler's frustration um possibly
00:12:21fueled by the fact that one all danny welbeck had a go at a panenka i'm a big fan of danny welbeck but
00:12:27i'm not a big fan of the panenka you surprised me um i think maybe messi ronaldo zidane type players but
00:12:34he's got a wonderful opportunity to put west ham in a real bad position here i think he's
00:12:38overthinking it because he's he's already taken one that you know that's going to be in his head
00:12:42because he doesn't want to do the same thing and that's not what you do you you you either go one
00:12:46way or the other as firm as hard as you can if they'd have gone in the lead at that point i'm not
00:12:50sure west ham would have been able to come back but um i suppose look you can tell that west ham
00:12:55players aren't happy with it which is bizarre because he's missed so you you might as well congratulate him
00:13:00for trying to be too cheeky but i suppose if one player this season's earned the right maybe danny is
00:13:04and fabian hertz has still not won a league game in december either that run continues
00:13:08now we will bring you that match between first and third very shortly we're just waiting for
00:13:12the managers interviews but to stanford bridge next chelsea looking to bounce back from defeat
00:13:17by aston villa three days ago against bournemouth without a win in their last nine
00:13:22jonathan pierce is your commentator rumors have been flying about the future of chelsea manager
00:13:28anzo mareska following that villa defeat just 169 days after he took chelsea to the club world cup
00:13:35antoine samana's much touted move to manchester city won't help form with boss andoni iraiola as he
00:13:42suffers his worst run in three years chelsea unbeaten in eight league games against bournemouth make five
00:13:47changes from the villa defeat income action pong for farna gusto estavar and dilap cook are is missing with a
00:13:54a hamstring injury this is almost certainly then a farewell game for antoine sameno who's had a
00:14:00hand in 44 percent of their goals this season four changes for them income hill for a first start in
00:14:06nearly two months brooks claybert and evanielsen chelsea have lost just one of their last 22 home
00:14:15calendar year-ending games
00:14:20quickly on looking for evanielsen he's got beyond the chelsea defense it's touched to get very wide
00:14:25and the block was there by for farna
00:14:33semenya with the long throw again it's not done with very well brooks has got it in has he
00:14:38has now bournemouth lead terrible chelsea defender they failed to cut out the long throw and brooks had
00:14:45two stabs at it bournemouth needed a bounce back from that horror defensive show at brentford at the
00:14:52weekend lead in six minutes look at the number of blue shirts in there and yet they don't deal with
00:15:00the first one brooks's effort is saved by sanchez he's hungry to get to the second almost got to the
00:15:06second to keep it out and then brooks made sure one nil
00:15:18sado whips one cleanly away to esteval isolated with trufa this could be a key area of the game he's
00:15:26gone beyond him so many who came in chelsea fans wonder penalty one given and now bournemouth look to
00:15:35break away and evan ilsen carries on he was too strong for the defender can't beat the goalkeeper
00:15:43and now it's up to great portion in the var boot to have a check
00:15:49good run by the youngster semenya seemed to clip his heels how much contact was there there's a knock of
00:15:56semenya's right knee on the back of esteval's leg he's been told to go and review it and i'm pretty
00:16:05sure that sam barrett will give the penalty here there's contact there back of his calf and then
00:16:12esterval does clip his own legs there can only be one decision here
00:16:17i find a decision the penalty kick and don't eat a real that thinks that's very very soft
00:16:26oh palmer will take the penalty big moments
00:16:30towards palmer against his former club mate petrovic
00:16:40oh nearly got there nearly got there but it's 1-1
00:16:44oh i don't know why he would have wanted to end his former career semenya by giving away a penalty
00:16:49should it end tonight
00:16:50don't give a guess right might have got a fingertip onto it but not enough
00:17:04oh that's a poor ball infield by action pop
00:17:08and it's set up here for breakfast a good save really very good save robert sanchez strong left hand
00:17:14mistake there he said he doesn't win the challenge he's on a yellow card of course
00:17:22evan hilsen good ball into brooks and it's a good recovery by sanchez because he was diving away
00:17:29to his other side
00:17:30this is pesado enzo fernandez to granacho that's enzo fernandez worked the space very well
00:17:49and scores a lovely goal and chelsea are ahead
00:17:55smashing finish that
00:17:56oh they turned the game on its head
00:18:02bournemouth initially gave the ball away never really recovered from that mistake
00:18:07darnacho turned inside jimenez set up fernandez he took the touch
00:18:14to get away from his defenders into that space
00:18:17watch here the touch of fernandez lovely that the scott came across
00:18:21and it's a fine finish too and it's 2-1 chelsea
00:18:36the tournament defending by wesley profana but it's a former throw
00:18:40that's the menu will take it long
00:18:51it's blood through the zone penalty area and in and bournemouth are out again
00:18:57it's private and bournemouth are back in the game climate makes it 2-2
00:19:00chelsea are hapless defending their penalty area at set pieces
00:19:10it was a chelsea head that nodded it back through his own penalty area
00:19:13and in came clover all alone to stab it past robert sanchez who had no chance
00:19:22just have a near around the back let's go now did that come off his arm
00:19:32Bournemouth are adamant
00:19:37very high up on his arm
00:19:38that's not a handball i don't think that's a handball there they are checking because they have to
00:19:46it's been checked and cleared the ball comes down off his shoulder area
00:19:51in comes the corner headed up by caseido possible break is on here
00:19:55estivar palmer the players running up on the left hand side both sides netto is there with him
00:20:00palmer has a look releases netto the laps in the middle beautiful breakaway no finish
00:20:06couldn't quite climb above the ball and make definitive contact but it's a lovely chelsea break
00:20:13that it's a big chance to for young liam de lapp estivar does so well as does palmer strong positive
00:20:22carry perfect release early ball in lovely move deserved better
00:20:36good well good save georgia petrovic
00:20:44little pleasing at his old club chelsea are getting stronger
00:20:51so nesi
00:21:01cross all the way through
00:21:03adley pulls it better sooner oh that was his opportunity
00:21:08that was his moment
00:21:10over it went lovely set up here by adley
00:21:14take it early from an awkward height
00:21:19terrific first half second half more measured
00:21:24more cautious finishes 2-2 the big question now for bournemouth of course
00:21:31how do they deal with the future without antoine simenio because here he is clearly waving goodbye
00:21:39i think the points we are getting both games against chelsea even the game against united games where
00:21:48you feel you've had a good performance and it's not a great reward one point no but it's true that
00:21:54before coming probably is a point that you will have taken i think we we put bournemouth in to
00:22:00defending one box for many many minutes but the final product and the last third to to score another
00:22:10more another goal more to to win the game or to kill the game that was missing today and it's something
00:22:16that we need to to find that we need to improve as soon as i can at the end you'll have seen the
00:22:23reaction from the fans towards antoine simenio and indeed his teammates as he seemed to be waving
00:22:28farewell to the club how how devastating is that for you or just do you just move on
00:22:34no antoine is a massive player for us no and he will be still with us it's not the last last game
00:22:40he has played for us no definitely we'll come to antoine simenio's future in just a second it's yet
00:22:46another high scoring away game involving bournemouth but they haven't won one in 10 in a row now danny so
00:22:52while it might be vastly entertaining it's not necessarily effective for them
00:22:56no but it's great to watch for us i thought chelsea actually second half were pretty good
00:23:00esther vow was a joy to watch but first half a couple of concerns for them one was how often
00:23:05bournemouth opened them up and how well they played um and secondly set plays it's becoming a problem for
00:23:10chelsea they conceded two today from long throw-ins um at home you've got to do better well in any game
00:23:17but especially at home when you're trying to dominate a team simenio you know we know where he's trying to
00:23:22get as far as he can there's lots of bodies in there for chelsea they don't get the first contact
00:23:26which is crucial and then they don't follow runners on the back post so we can see hill gets the first
00:23:32contact and then brooks runs off the back of garnaccio he's not watching the man he's watching the ball
00:23:37and then they give themselves a mountain to climb which they climb and do well and get back in the
00:23:40game at 2-1 and then what happens once it's happened once it can't happen again the target's the same
00:23:46there's nothing different misreads the ball chaliber there but it's the back post that's
00:23:51the problem it's the second the second ball the runner and again unfortunately it's garnaccio and
00:23:56no surprise really he was taken off half time i think probably because of these two lapses in
00:24:00concentration you've got to be switched on you can't give teams goals like that and expect to
00:24:05win football matches yeah one of the biggest strengths of chelsea this season is robert sanchez's
00:24:09ability to come and claim these balls they have five players in between him and the ball at times
00:24:15there and completely negated the opportunity for him to come and they suffered from that
00:24:20you could look at this as chelsea having been a goal down and managing to get a point from it or
00:24:25you could look at what's been more of a pattern for them this season which is you know dropping points
00:24:29from from winning positions yeah i think the game was a nice summary of how their season's gone at
00:24:34times and it's the chaos that they can't deal with brawma's brought an energy and a chaos to the game
00:24:39much like aston villa did at the weekend in the second half and it's their lack of ability to respond
00:24:44and keep control of games has been the real issue for chelsea uh not antoine semenya's last game in
00:24:50a bournemouth shirt you think danny or certainly that's what and only arala said well maybe they've
00:24:54got a practice match tomorrow or something like that i i very rarely see scenes at the end where
00:24:59someone's saying goodbyes and even hugging his teammates he's a player in demand for obvious
00:25:04reasons he'll definitely benefit whichever squad he goes to bournemouth are cute and clever in the
00:25:09market i'm sure they've already got a replacement but it's hard for the manager to come out and say
00:25:13yes he's on his way even if they they do get that replacement even if it is the right player
00:25:17obviously that you'd expect they take a little while to to settle in are either of you concerned
00:25:23about bournemouth this season i thought the recent weeks the run that they've had they've had real
00:25:28difficulty with the energy they've been void of energy something very un-bournemouth like this look
00:25:33more like the bournemouth of old more like what we've been used to seeing in the premier league if they
00:25:38stick with what they had tonight they'll be okay yeah so now to top versus third at the emirates
00:25:44with just three points separating the two sides aston villa on a run of 11 straight wins in all
00:25:49competitions arsenal's last defeat came against villa earlier this month commentary comes from simon
00:25:56brotherton a mid-season test of title challenging credentials and it comes just 24 days after they
00:26:03last met the defeat of villa park is arsenal's only reverse in the last 24 matches while villa's 11
00:26:10game winning run has equaled their club record tally last achieved 111 years ago a knee injury means
00:26:17declan rice misses the game for arsenal but yurian timber returns and a fit against gabriel starts for the
00:26:22first time since early november pierro in capier slides across to left back and kai havertz returns
00:26:29from injury on the bench matty cash and bubacar camera are suspended for villa who make five changes
00:26:36lamar bogard plays at right back with luca dina amadu anana ollie watkins and jayden sancho all coming in
00:26:43it's sancho's first league start since arriving on loan last summer
00:26:51they're unbeaten on the last two visits here to the emirates winning 2-0 a couple of seasons ago and
00:26:562-2 draw last term
00:27:00he's got away from sancho super played by in capier this is good from arsenal
00:27:05in capier's ball in jokeres with the header
00:27:10first sighting a goal for arsenal pillars players protesting
00:27:14jokeres there with a clear heading opportunity
00:27:20that's the makings of a a good one tonight this
00:27:23challenge by concert who's done superbly here watkins is up alongside him watkins wide
00:27:36first chance of the match for the visitors it was excellent play by esri concert
00:27:41who've got in there with the ball of victor jokeres watkins in an excellent position
00:27:48and miscuing the shot
00:27:52moment of encouragement for villa with that ball and now an excellent pass from tielemans
00:27:58and here comes morgan rogers with support
00:28:01the pass into sancho the defending was solid from in capier but again a little warning there for arsenal
00:28:09well what a pass from juri tielemans here
00:28:13setting villa on the counter picking out morgan rogers
00:28:2315 minutes in villa certainly giving arsenal something to think about
00:28:29no teams with bright attacking moments so far in this first half
00:28:36jokeres waits in the middle trossards looking for the angle for the shot
00:28:38comfortable enough for emi martinez
00:28:48arsenal again going down that left hand side they're really trying to
00:28:52test the right hand side of aston villa's defense in the absence of their regular right back cash
00:28:57in it comes from trossard jokeres almost in
00:29:00jokeres getting in in front of the defender esri concert but the header flashing past the post
00:29:10here's anana that's a decent looking ball into jayden sancho right at the end of the first half
00:29:21it's watkins and it's an absolutely superb defensive challenge by saliva wouldn't have counted anyway
00:29:27flags up on the far side that was excellent play all round brilliant from villa and superb from saliva
00:29:35given as offside very tight but villa almost springing clear to take a late first half lead
00:29:49arsenal with a clean sheet again so far david reyes kept a clean sheet in exactly half
00:29:54of the premier league games this season so far that's better from jokeres
00:29:57support here from timber block made by lindelof it's going to be a corner for arsenal first corner of the match
00:30:07for them
00:30:11saka to take
00:30:15gabriel right in emi martinez is grill there as it's in
00:30:19martinez doesn't get hold of it the balls in the back of the net and arsenal have scored
00:30:23it was gabriel who caused the real problem he was right there on top of emi martinez even before the
00:30:30ball came in it was gabriel who caused all the issues for martinez it's messy but it matters not for
00:30:38arsenal because they all counts it just rolled in rolled down gabriel's leg and then into the net
00:30:45what a start to the second half that's liven things up here and yet another test for una emery's team
00:30:54who so often find themselves behind particularly away from home
00:31:03bogart into tielemans looking for jayton sancho won by martin odegaard he was quicker he was sharper he was
00:31:11keener and zubomendi makes it too oh what a lovely goal from martin zubomendi
00:31:19and it all came on odegaard got there ahead of jayton sancho
00:31:26and played it through zubomendi finished it off stunning start to the second half arsenal in
00:31:33danger of running away with it here all of a sudden
00:31:37villa's defense breached again arsenal 2 aston de la nil and what a test this is going to be for una
00:31:45emery's team to try to get back in the match now well there were plenty of furrowed brows in the first
00:31:53half but they are absolutely loving it now
00:31:57pressure on rogers villa lose the ball marino into odegaard odegaard looks to get ball past martinez who
00:32:09gets a hand on it
00:32:12martinez with a vitally important fingertip save arsenal can sense a third goal might be coming
00:32:19sancho
00:32:28lovely play no penalty says the referee arsenal still on the attack
00:32:34they are going to double check it so
00:32:38we await the verdict on that but arsenal continue on the front foot with martin odegaard that's a terrific
00:32:45ball in saka can't get his head on it timber truss up three nil game set match arsenal
00:32:54there'll be five points clear at the end of 2025 at the top of the premier league table
00:33:00it is being checked for offside
00:33:05it was given as disallowed on the field for offside
00:33:10didn't look like it was offside as the ball was played in there
00:33:15so it's just one more pass they're looking at a pass out to in capier
00:33:19they're saying saka's onside so they're checking in capier who
00:33:22i think is onside it's going to be a goal and the crowd will find out in a moment
00:33:32arsenal three aston villa nil
00:33:35and what an end to the year it is going to be for the league leaders
00:33:40villa's 11 game winning run surely at an end now what a run it has been
00:33:46in capier the way to urdegaard
00:33:55garcia has been beaten by zubamendi plenty of red and white shirts racing forward here trossard leads
00:34:01the way into gabriel jesus oh it's his first touch oh he's waited a long time for this
00:34:10he's missed most of the calendar year with a crucial injury he's only recently come back
00:34:20and he's only just come on the field tonight it's brilliant from the brazilian
00:34:28arsenal finishing 2025 in style they are the team to beat in the premier league title race
00:34:41here's marlin
00:34:46the ball into watkins
00:34:50and it's a brilliant save by david raya
00:34:55goodness me that was astonishing how on earth did villa not get a goal there again on the follow-up
00:35:01david raya it's like there's some sort of magnetic field around his goal
00:35:06good play by jimmo into marlin that's gabriel jesus back and doniel marlin still going here
00:35:13superb play from doniel marlin and watkins scores on his 30th birthday another goal for ollie watkins
00:35:21against arsenal watkins who has scored six league goals against the gunners over the years has himself
00:35:30another one here sweeping it home from close range it was excellent play from doniel marlin who somehow
00:35:40got it through david raya's legs
00:35:42oh what a second half that was tonight yeah it was amazing uh yeah we knew we played against a
00:35:51team that won 11 games in a row that in a great emotional state and they are really fabulous team
00:35:58they keep you on the edge in a reaction uh and in the first half in the first 10 minutes we we missed
00:36:04time a few things and and they opened us up and they are really dangerous there after we have some more
00:36:08control we came up in the second half and i thought we were outstanding today we did very good first
00:36:14half differently than the last match in chelsea and of course we were more or less competing well and
00:36:21even getting our momentum and creating chances but the second half the first goal changed everything and
00:36:28uh we finished uh losing but uh now with the players my analysis of course is uh after the match uh how we
00:36:39did here 90 minutes but overall the the most important for us is try to to understand overall how we are
00:36:46well arsenal have had the results of late if not necessarily the performances what a time for them to
00:36:53put in particularly that that second half performance danny absolutely their performance
00:36:58was a big statement it was powerful full of quality showed their strength in depth and let's not forget
00:37:04they didn't have declin rice one of the most important players um but i thought in the first half when
00:37:09villa were pretty good actually um and caused arsenal problems that partnership that's back together of
00:37:15gabrielle and saliba gave arsenal the platform to then go on to have that wonderful second half
00:37:21performance now villa played through the press beautifully at times in the first half and look
00:37:26at the pace of gabrielle and saliba there to then get rogers to play a poor ball and in capier
00:37:33sees out the danger again you can see villa waiting to win the ball back on the transition which they do
00:37:41really well and then they play through and once they do because arsenal go after teams at home which is
00:37:46right as well because they really dominate teams at home generally when they get into these positions
00:37:51the two are always close together they're always communicating the distances are good
00:37:55and here basically the angle is really difficult there for for watkins to do because saliba's so
00:38:00patient he's just got this calmness he doesn't panic there they are on the press that we're talking
00:38:05about they commit men forward and the reason they do it is because they believe and trust their
00:38:09defenders to play one-on-one and to cope and there's none better really than saliba you know when he's on top
00:38:16of his game right position again he's got the athleticism and pace calm no danger okay the ball
00:38:21could have been better but time and time again we saw them break on arsenal and the arsenal back
00:38:28forward don't panic i mean this here from saliba he doesn't know that this is going to be given a
00:38:32couple of inches offside look at this that is just phenomenal and that's what you get when you get those
00:38:37two together you get the athleticism the calmness and the fear factor i think it gives them a great
00:38:43platform to really go after teams and of course the game they lost at villa neither of them were
00:38:47playing of course and while gabriel and saliba provide that platform for arsenal on the pitch
00:38:53there's also the the way in which the goal was conceded that allowed them to take advantage of
00:38:58the fact that villa were then trying to get back into the game and it was an error from emmy martinez
00:39:02yeah and it was gabriel it was one of the two of them getting in the way getting in he'd been making
00:39:06any use of himself and as he always does as he does yeah and unay emery says it says it himself he
00:39:11changed the game and that's what got the ball rolling and we knew it was coming we've seen it
00:39:16before at brentford this season we've seen it at lees and we saw it on saturday at chelsea where
00:39:21martinez just gets preoccupied with the players around him he's got two there he's fighting there
00:39:26and he can't come for the ball because he's just worried about what's around him and again tonight
00:39:31he's preoccupied he's worried and from there you know he's going to be there you know he's going to
00:39:36be there salibas around you can see him you can touch him and there's a keeper if you're going
00:39:41up amongst bodies and your head you're going to bring it down amongst heads you've got to punch
00:39:46it he doesn't do that two minutes later villa reacts and they've got their men in around the
00:39:52players protecting martinez now this has been going on for weeks this has been going on since the start
00:39:57of the season so i don't know why it takes mid-game against arsenal for it to happen again three days
00:40:04after it happening at the weekend for them to react it seems like it's a bit of a miss and it
00:40:08the manager said it cost them that said it was a stunning performance from arsenal in the in the
00:40:13second half in particular they then open up that six point gap over aston villa suddenly it starts to
00:40:19look a lot more comfortable and yes manchester city have got a game in hand that they'll play on
00:40:24on new year's day but it it feels like a big one that in terms of the the title race have they seen
00:40:30off one of the main contenders not just yet but they've said they've shown everybody they mean
00:40:35business and a couple of bad results or a couple of draws and one loss doesn't um define their season
00:40:40look they they're wonderfully physically physically um defensively brilliant there's been a little bit
00:40:46of criticism recently on lack of creativity and too many goals offset plays but they've got so many
00:40:52players now who are fighting for positions in the forward areas you're going to see an uplift i think
00:40:57and more intensity from the forward players jesus is coming on scoring we don't think we saw ezra
00:41:01today you know they've got so much talent i think they'll just spur each other on to do more and more
00:41:07and uh yeah it's it's a big day for them and a big statement i think each win like this each big win
00:41:13they have is a massive hurdle particularly at the emirates where they get really really nervous
00:41:18they're waiting for that trophy and that feeds onto the team and that you saw it read previous seasons
00:41:25we saw it last season the champions league they get nervous so big statement wins like this big
00:41:30moments you look in the next one possibly the league cup coming up against chelsea that's another big
00:41:35statement in there it's going to be each one brings on that little bit more belief yeah it's a huge night
00:41:41for arsenal huge night at the top of the table burnley have drawn their last two but scott parker's
00:41:47side were on a run of nine without a win ahead of the visit of newcastle guy mowbray was at turf more
00:41:53burnley need a win but then newcastle do too they've only won one of their last five
00:41:59and that was against burnley three and a half weeks ago for the claret three changes from
00:42:04saturday against everton maxime steph returns from injury and florentino and loom shouter also
00:42:09coming to start for newcastle four changes nick pope plays for the first time since november
00:42:15joe linton harvey barnes and joan wisser also brought into the team
00:42:19this tradition is a very happy place for newcastle to visit they have won their last three here but
00:42:30life on the road has not been easy for toon fans this season
00:42:34there's anthony gordon
00:42:40and fabian scherr it's a really good return to gordon controlled it nicely too up against
00:42:47kyle walker and he beats him once crossing towards joe linton who's hooked it in
00:42:53it's taken newcastle only just over a minute brilliantly finished that by the brazilian his 200th
00:43:02appearance in the premier league and his first goal in the competition this season
00:43:08gordon's delivery maybe not what he was looking to do with it
00:43:14i think it may have taken a deflection and looped up to joe linton but what a connection that was
00:43:20it's caressed it into the corner burnley nil newcastle united one
00:43:29just sets the tone this puts a downer on the turf moore atmosphere from the very start apart
00:43:35from in the visiting section which is bouncing but couldn't hold on lucas spires has wrestled the
00:43:42ball free of him gordon came in though with a good tackle for newcastle bruno gimarazzi into a crowd
00:43:48gordon out of the pocket
00:43:52gordon again trying to combine with barnes here is barnes saved by dubravka trying to get back up
00:43:59it's an almighty mess for burnley and joan wisser has put it in for number two
00:44:07his first premier league goal in the black and white stripes
00:44:10burnley is surrounding the referee rob jones
00:44:16they feel there might have been a foul in the midst of all that melee it will of course be looked at
00:44:22the more worrying concern for burnley is the absolute mess that they got themselves into
00:44:29i just wonder there though if there was a barge in the back
00:44:35was josh laurent fouled by bruno gimaraj i think there's going to be a secondary newcastle cheer
00:44:42though the goal is going to be allowed to stand burnley nil newcastle two let's not forget that very
00:44:50recently they were 2-0 up against chelsea and drew 2-2
00:44:53luka chukwu edwards trying to get a sight of goal denied that by wisser that was blocked by ekdal
00:45:08put back in by lucas perez that's a goal brilliantly taken josh lauren has given burnley some hope
00:45:16and maybe started uh another newcastle wobble josh lauren's first turf moore goal
00:45:25it's a knight of firsts lukas perez with the first shot might be a question there about the positioning
00:45:33of broyer was he offside it was his help on to josh lauren who has done what he needed to do
00:45:41the check is complete lauren has scored and it is burnley one newcastle two
00:45:50gordon
00:45:54where's gordon going nowhere fast is the answer here's broyer
00:46:00broyer's shot deflected
00:46:01chowna
00:46:05chowna finds edwards and edwards has his shot cleared off the line
00:46:11fabian share getting back to crucial effect for newcastle
00:46:16burnley keep coming edwards has another go
00:46:21well wide
00:46:23newcastle and anthony gordon in particular have fabian share to thank for still being in front
00:46:31florentino
00:46:33chowna nicely touched through to broyer edwards is with him
00:46:39broyer's pass is a good one marcus edwards for burnley
00:46:43straight against the leg of nick pope big chance goes
00:46:48they only have started the second half the better team here
00:46:51humphreys
00:46:57humphreys again
00:46:58broyer trying to battle through with humphreys help
00:47:04lucas perez
00:47:07that's not a bad ball and it's off the woodwork with pope stranded
00:47:12lauren nearly got himself another
00:47:14lovely chip this from lucas perez
00:47:20lauren's header pope had given it up and it nearly dropped in
00:47:25nick pope is increasingly a busy goalkeeper
00:47:32edwards
00:47:34dummies gordon and takes on hall and gets the crossover to shauna
00:47:38once again burnley have had their chances
00:47:44once again they have largely failed to convert
00:47:51murphy
00:47:54bruno gimmeraige corner
00:47:58right in front of the newcastle fans
00:47:59nice hall
00:48:05dubravka that's two hands on it
00:48:08joe linton happy to let it bounce and dubravka's beaten to it humphreys off the line
00:48:16that one was dipping under bashier humphreys with some good defensive work
00:48:22just wonder if burnley have had their chances now
00:48:24they could and probably should have drawn themselves level
00:48:30hall gets past ekdahl and gets it back from wissa
00:48:34here's jacob murphy oh goodness
00:48:38the three points were there on a plate for him to win
00:48:41jacob murphy really ought to have dispatched that pretty much in his sleep
00:48:47miley to murphy to nali
00:48:57ekdahl has voltmada breathing down his neck and dubravka has given it straight to bruno
00:49:02gimmeraige and newcastle have won the game
00:49:08it ends as it begun with burnley all over the shop at the back
00:49:12bruno's sixth goal this season his first one that's come away from st james's park
00:49:20and it's put the seal on what will be only newcastle's second premier league away win of the season
00:49:28it's burnley one newcastle three
00:49:32the positives are that we showed a real um a real spirit a real commitment a real fight and sometimes
00:49:39in these moments like anything in life in adversity and certain hardship which
00:49:45that was the case tonight that that's something that can go disappearing very very quickly
00:49:49default position can be hiding and and certainly not stand up to the challenge my team never did
00:49:54that and i don't think they ever will i think that's been proven over some time now in the second
00:49:59half we we control the game well uh we managed the time and and play well and create still create
00:50:05chance i think we could have more goals today uh but at the end uh really really happy with the
00:50:11three points because that's the most important we needed to win we know we were under pressure today
00:50:17i thought the lads responded really well it was a really fast start um we scored some really good
00:50:22goals um and then us being us at this present time we made it difficult for ourselves you know there's
00:50:27a couple of moments there when nick made massive saves for us but overall i thought we showed real
00:50:31resilience and character in that second period to get over the line eddie has said newcastle made
00:50:36it difficult for themselves in the end it looks like a relatively comfortable scoreline but it
00:50:41wouldn't be fair to say that burnley put up no resistance to them no it wasn't routine and you
00:50:46think in newcastle away from home they've been poor this season guy touched on it in commentary just
00:50:52a second away when they were rocking at times and joe linton can say what he likes after the game
00:50:57they were in trouble at moments and you look at the chances that they had that burning and you
00:51:01think about all the good play that they had it's just critical moments and then players you know
00:51:06the instincts of share a momentary lapse in concentration at the back for themselves but when
00:51:11they did attack they attacked with conviction they came up against nick pope who came back and
00:51:16was in good form and eddie howe who said it himself he said you know he came up with big moments
00:51:22that was key tonight and you're looking thinking well is he going to come back and play because a
00:51:27ramsell had done okay was he still the number one i think now we know nick pope's back and he's playing
00:51:33well really sharp at moments but around this burnley created opportunities in and amongst congested area
00:51:39in and amongst when they could break is he coming away from it scott parker's thinking he's pretty much
00:51:44everything we can do in a game and from here you look at these chances you've got to score them
00:51:50you've got to take these moments because things like this happen a moment's indecision the game's
00:51:56still in the balance it's horrible for dibravka he's up against his former club nick pope was up
00:52:02against his former club one rule for one keeper one rule for the other it's a tough night again for
00:52:06burnley having said everything that you have in in sort of defense of burnley if you like the fact
00:52:11is that they haven't won in the last 10 games there are more than grumblings around turf more about
00:52:17where the the club is is heading this season where do you think we stand in terms of the
00:52:22amount of pressure that's on scott parker at the moment well you're looking i don't think they can
00:52:26stay up i don't think they can survive that's first and foremost it's then you're saying where do you
00:52:31take the club much like wolves they're in a better position the balls but where do you take them from
00:52:35now what's the vision how much damage can they can sustain for the rest of the season if runs continues
00:52:41it's got to stop at some point what about from newcastle's point of view and eddie howe talked about
00:52:46the problems that they've caused themselves at times this season but in terms of their
00:52:51attacking prowess how much does the return the full return of wissa make to that i think it's
00:52:56really positive for them great stats look they're first in all of those scored when he came back into
00:53:01the team in the league cup against fulham scored today he's reliable in the build-up he's quick he's
00:53:06got different attributes to voltamada of course he has but it gives eddie howe an option to change
00:53:12them or mix them they've got good options in wide areas actually so i think for newcastle fans that's
00:53:16something exciting for him to look forward to his impact on the team in the next few months
00:53:21to the city ground now nottingham forest coming off back-to-back defeats against everton without
00:53:26a win or a goal in their last three chris wise was at this one outside of the bottom club wolves these
00:53:35two are the lowest scorers in the league and between them they have strikers that are either out injured
00:53:41out of luck or bang out of form nottingham forest will finish 2025 above the relegation zone the steady
00:53:48signs of encouragement are there sean dych freshens it up at fullback olexander zinchenko comes in for
00:53:54nicolo savona everton's three nil win over forest at the start of the month remains their biggest victory
00:54:00of the season but the absentee list is getting long the latest to join it michael keen and carlos alcaraz
00:54:07neither in the everton squad tonight income patterson and rural and greelish is back on the bench
00:54:14so a very different challenge for nottingham forest tonight compared to the visit of swashbuckling
00:54:20manchester city three days ago it is david moyse's everton garner he managed to find the out ball as
00:54:29well there might have been a little touch on roll but play's going to go on with everton anyway
00:54:33because barry's got it dibbling one of the supporting cast here he is tyler dibbling
00:54:40paterson for irubunum who has the power to keep dominguez away from here mcneill for garner it's in
00:54:57james garner against his former club for everton
00:55:02well out of respect he doesn't celebrate but the everton fans do
00:55:06james garner taking it quickly and striking it low across john's goal
00:55:13who got the merest fingertip to it but nothing more there's only two players on the pitch for
00:55:20everton tonight that have scored premier league goals this season and he's one of them that's
00:55:24number two for james garner and in terms of everton's night that's number one nottingham forest nil everton one
00:55:31williams it's a great ball and it is a fluff finished at the back of the queue from callum hudson
00:55:41adoy really good opportunity that for nottingham forest
00:55:4713th time that these two managers have pitted their extensive wits against one another the very first
00:55:53time actually nine years ago tomorrow when touches burnley beat moises sunderland by four goals to one
00:56:02maybe just the touch initially from ghana sent anderson into irubunum and irubunum giving away the free
00:56:08kick almost sent anderson off course that initial challenge by ghana and into the path of irubunum
00:56:16so forest free kick and their two fullbacks are over this nico williams and olexander zinchenko
00:56:23it's zinchenko it was on target i think on most occasions jordan pickford probably would have caught
00:56:29that last forest win against everton here more than 30 years ago steve stone plays and ian woe and
00:56:37scored what would prove to be the winner in that game nottingham forest beating everton by three goals to
00:56:41two coming up to the hour then at the city grounds forest continue to probe gibbs white
00:56:49brian was too strong for him but then he's given the ball away he calls jesus has he got hold of it
00:56:55he has he nearly scores a special goal it was a pokes towards pickford's goal from igor jesus
00:57:01and it ends up whistling past the right hand post of the everton goalkeeper
00:57:13ghana
00:57:16corner is the call
00:57:22the second corner of everton's night right in front of their feverish supporters
00:57:31there to clear the corner away
00:57:38back in it goes that's a better ball that was nearly 2-0
00:57:42tarkovsky heading it wide of the post
00:57:47really was close wasn't it that header from tarkovsky
00:57:53now everton are coming at forest and jack grealish has got a lot of space here
00:57:57grealish still dwight mcneil
00:58:07back to grealish again from garner
00:58:11barry and dibbling patiently waiting garner's hit was traveling really was traveling
00:58:17scored one very nicely taken goal tonight already james garner
00:58:30squeezed for room douglas louise he's lost it and all of a sudden
00:58:34the gaps are beginning to come a bit more frequently for everton
00:58:36garner what a spin that is and the ball as well for barry for two nil everton
00:58:46tiano barry scores against nottingham forest again
00:58:57and while he takes plenty of praise plenty more needs to come the way of james garner
00:59:03what a fabulous assist from the everton midfielder and the relief etched across the face of tiano barry
00:59:14to add another to his premier league tally
00:59:19most nottingham forest fans are still in here but there are one or two red seats that are beginning to appear
00:59:25back what oh he's got the room back wow it's gone all the way across
00:59:33it's an everton away win that will rejuvenate hopes of a european charge this season
00:59:40and they have done the double over nottingham forest in the space of a few weeks
00:59:44that is three straight defeats now for sean dych's side
00:59:48i always saw tonight have been a really difficult game because nottingham forest are probably pushing
00:59:53really hard for the points i thought they played really well against manchester city at the weekend
00:59:58and we're a bit unlucky not to to take something from the game so it was never going to be an easy
01:00:02game for us and then obviously with the players we have missing but great credit to the ones who come
01:00:06in they've done a great job really did we've dominated the game in many ways tonight but not with
01:00:11that real edge and that cutting edge and certainly if you're going to dominate don't lose the game to
01:00:15two really poor goals and defensively not enough not enough edge from us you know and i think that's
01:00:20the next step you know when the expectation grows what about us growing i think that's the next step
01:00:24this club's played a massive part in my career so um i was never going to celebrate if i scored
01:00:30i had definitely enjoyed the second goal way more um you know the work that i that i did and then
01:00:35the pass i was just praying that he put it in the back of the net um and he did so um i was really
01:00:41happy and you know that makes it a lot easier going into the final five or ten minutes two two
01:00:46up rather than one well no wonder james garner was happy with a goal and an assist against his old club
01:00:52well he goes under the radar a little bit i mean twosbury hall greelish and jai tend to get a lot of
01:00:56the headlines when heaven have done well this season but he's been terrific and today was arguably his best
01:01:01best performance of the season he's filled in in various positions he's playing in midfield at the
01:01:06moment he's enjoying it he's technically very good we know that this is a brilliant finish first chance
01:01:11everton had in the game really really good finish that is i like the fact he can play quick he knows
01:01:17when he's got time on the ball he travels with the ball nicely can get you know he can get everton up
01:01:23the pitch at times and just release that pressure he's a clever footballer he's not physically that
01:01:28big and doesn't rely so much on the aggressive side of the game but this this is what he's capable of
01:01:34we've seen him score a few long ranges that's a close effort and he does the hard work you can't
01:01:39play in the middle of the park unless you're prepared to do that get back into
01:01:43defensive areas and block crosses and stick with your runners and this is the highlight for me i mean
01:01:48as you as a midfielder that this type of assist is the most pleasing lovely bit of skill
01:01:52and then can you find the weight of the pass beautiful into barry who gets his second goal and
01:01:58pleases those evertonians who grow them up but this this is this is top midfield play and um
01:02:05it deserved a goal for the brilliance of the panel yeah it's his fifth game
01:02:10the central midfielder in a row now yeah and you're looking at you touch on it there
01:02:14keenan drusby hall stepping out through injury they've been a depleted side who's going to step up
01:02:19he stepped up now and everton fans are looking at him kind of over the course of this season
01:02:23and how good are you what are you i think we're starting to see the picture and he's got to get
01:02:28his contract so he's out of contract but apparently by the end of the for the end of the season which
01:02:31is unbelievable really i'm talking about a plan for the game it was very clear what notting forest and
01:02:38sean dych intended 46 crosses yeah from notting forest in this game but it says here only eight
01:02:45successful but you would read it slightly differently danny the obviously watching the game you see the
01:02:51quality of the crosses and the only reason the successful number there is low is because of the
01:02:55performance of o'brien and tarkovsky who were absolutely outstanding there's a couple of poor
01:03:00headers from forest when they did get the first contacts but a lot of quality from forest in wide
01:03:04areas and something i think is a positive for them moving forward i wouldn't see that stat as a
01:03:09negative just keep getting in there and of course they'll be having chris wood back sooner rather than
01:03:13later now manchester united beat newcastle in the only game on boxing day they were back at old
01:03:20trafford for the visit of wolves who are still yet to win and on a run of 11 straight defeats your
01:03:26commentator steve bauer manchester united have lost just twice in the last 12 games they're there
01:03:34without mason mount due to a muscle problem it takes the unavoidable list of ruben amerim to eight
01:03:40players so joshua zerski starts for only the fourth time in the premier league this season
01:03:46wolves who are on the third longest run without a victory in premier league history are missing the
01:03:51suspended andre and the injured santiago bueno so tatua and arias both come in
01:04:01it has been pointed out quite correctly that wolves have pushed arsenal and liverpool away from home very
01:04:07closely indeed recently and their last away premier league win was here at old trafford in april
01:04:17dorkin over shesko
01:04:21who immediately finds huang
01:04:24brilliant from here now can he say something moving
01:04:28zerski
01:04:32go again joshua zerski deflected
01:04:36and manchester united get the break and they get the lead
01:04:41and that's a tough one on wolves the way they've started this game
01:04:44it was congested in those central areas but when it came back to zerski
01:04:51it hits krejci and deflects off the czech republic international
01:04:56past jose sart and into the back of the net his goal has given his team a 1-0 lead
01:05:04and he's going to go the other way instead to dorgu
01:05:14he's up against chatua and he's got shaw bursting forwards
01:05:20deflected along the way well after his first ever goal for manchester united on boxing day
01:05:26he fancied another go but chatua just managed to deflect that wide for manchester united's second corner
01:05:40off the post from the slovenian jose sart beaten
01:05:45almost 2-0 his eighth game in charge tonight two of them against manchester united and he's lost all seven
01:05:53wolves have lost their last 11 in a row man hey
01:05:59and he's found maracadoa in turn finds bueno
01:06:06and lammens denies him with the save with his legs here's mané and that's taken by the belgian cleanly
01:06:16decent contact from bueno
01:06:18excellent stop with that left leg from lemons
01:06:24no room for bueno to deliver as yet but there is now
01:06:28no chances taken by dorgu and that is wolves first corner of the game
01:06:35manchester united's turn to have everybody back that came off zerski what an excellent header 1-1
01:06:41and it's crazy who the goal deflected off for manchester united to equalize for wolves
01:06:52right on the stroke of half time inadvertently flicked on by zerski but what a perfect header
01:06:59from creature right in the corner and that was a sweet moment for him
01:07:10manchester united's half time change is the introduction of jack fletcher in place of joshua zerski
01:07:17but apart from down now fletcher it's heaven again he's off a block by doherty
01:07:27now casemiro that's nice
01:07:31he was offside anyway
01:07:36i'm gonna be relieved because he should have done better
01:07:38oh
01:07:49premier league games without bruno fernandez on boxing day
01:07:51barchist united but a peg back tonight without the skipper
01:07:58it's direct towards dallo doherty's header oh and it's going to be an own goal is it
01:08:06jose sartre has prevented it with a miraculous recovery the gds watch hasn't gone off
01:08:15and it looked as though it was going to beat jose sartre with the determination the flexibility
01:08:21to get back and recover that situation outstanding
01:08:25this is how close it was to 2-1 look at that
01:08:32goodness me
01:08:36xiao gomez
01:08:37the burn didn't get there brilliant from lamons and somehow the follow-up from mascara didn't go in
01:08:53well this is a real let off for manchester united cretci's effort denied
01:09:01lamons does well on the floor you know
01:09:05agonizing for mascara and indeed his manager
01:09:08and scoura kept it in
01:09:23Chichurra has beaten Shaw here
01:09:28and it's back towards Arias
01:09:31he was under excellent pressure
01:09:36from Dalo
01:09:37who got the final touch
01:09:39the Colombian who's yet to score for Wolves
01:09:42I saw the headlines there
01:09:45Shashka
01:09:51get it back from Cunha
01:09:54trying to go around Doherty
01:09:57Cunha to keep things moving
01:10:00Casemiro
01:10:01Shashka
01:10:03and the follow-up's in from Dorgo
01:10:06but he's offside
01:10:08the flag is up
01:10:10the celebrations will be cut short
01:10:13and the Boxing Day hero
01:10:17who was hoping to write another script
01:10:19looks like he's going to be denied
01:10:22yes he's off
01:10:24no goal
01:10:25still 1-1
01:10:27another night of frustration for him
01:10:30more drop points
01:10:33when they were least expected
01:10:35Rob well done your first point
01:10:39I mean if you're getting greedy
01:10:40could it have been more?
01:10:41potentially
01:10:42I think it's the least we deserved
01:10:43you know
01:10:44it's another good performance
01:10:45it's progress
01:10:46you know
01:10:47I know that's been
01:10:47slow in terms of results
01:10:49but our performances
01:10:50especially away from home
01:10:52have warranted
01:10:53I think more than
01:10:53the points
01:10:54and what we've got
01:10:55it's nice to take something away from the game
01:10:57I feel we deserve that
01:10:58Ruben just a point in the end
01:11:00how did you see that?
01:11:00I think it was a strange game
01:11:03we already knew it
01:11:05that would be a different game
01:11:08if you compare it to Newcastle
01:11:10we needed more imagination today
01:11:13but we tried
01:11:14but the quality was not there
01:11:17also because the characteristics
01:11:18is not the right characteristics
01:11:19in this moment
01:11:21but we tried
01:11:22we need to recover to the next one
01:11:24if Manchester United had one
01:11:27they would have moved up to fourth
01:11:28in the table
01:11:29but Wolves
01:11:30losing run
01:11:31comes to an end
01:11:32at Old Trafford
01:11:32just their third point
01:11:34of the season
01:11:35and Amorim looks as though
01:11:37he was reverting to type
01:11:39going back to that 3-4-3
01:11:41rather than the back four
01:11:42he tried against Newcastle
01:11:43yeah I mean
01:11:44you can put the formations up
01:11:45you can put the personnel up
01:11:46for me
01:11:46Lamond's played well
01:11:48you're looking at
01:11:49a continuation of a problem
01:11:50in consistency
01:11:51in terms of
01:11:53just an overall performance
01:11:54of intensity
01:11:55that's there
01:11:56and
01:11:56there's two managers from tonight
01:11:58for me
01:11:59and one that's worked
01:12:00with the team
01:12:01for a short period of time
01:12:02and you can see
01:12:03small grains of improvement
01:12:04for Wolves
01:12:05and small crumbs of comfort
01:12:07and energy to come
01:12:09from the results
01:12:10and then you're looking
01:12:10at Manchester United
01:12:11and Amorim has spoken
01:12:13at length
01:12:13over a period of time
01:12:15saying
01:12:15last season
01:12:16there were too many games
01:12:17for us to work
01:12:18on the manager
01:12:18on the training pitch
01:12:20for the manager
01:12:20now he's had
01:12:22half a season on this
01:12:23and he's gone back
01:12:24from one formation
01:12:25to another
01:12:25and back again
01:12:26I'm just not seeing
01:12:27the positional
01:12:28the formational
01:12:30improvement
01:12:31or the performance
01:12:32improvement
01:12:33and they didn't get
01:12:34the result
01:12:35Zerksi did get the goal
01:12:37but came off
01:12:38at half time
01:12:39tactical substitution
01:12:41is he just
01:12:43someone who's waiting
01:12:44to be sold
01:12:45I think so
01:12:46yeah
01:12:46he's had enough chances
01:12:48the fans haven't really
01:12:49taken through him
01:12:50he'll probably say
01:12:51he's not been given
01:12:51as many opportunities
01:12:53as he thinks he deserves
01:12:54but for the quality
01:12:55United need
01:12:56he's probably not up to
01:12:57and I think we'll see him
01:12:57go in this window
01:12:59probably
01:12:59let's take a look
