00:01:17weekend ruffy so we're going to do a good easily 55 minutes on motherwell against heavens because
00:01:23you'll be able to talk about it in depth and in detail yeah well first of all obviously i took the
00:01:28wrong pie at half time i took a sort of a curry pie and i moved on to the steam pie
00:01:35and by the way no no no i have to tell you any tactical analysis in the game nothing nothing he
00:01:42had a brown sauce he actually he actually went in at half time took a bite out of the curry pie
00:01:47thought i don't like that and left and then and then moved on to a steak pie um which is just a
00:01:53apart from the football it was a great atmosphere the full stadium brilliant motherwell supporters you
00:01:58have to give them a bit of praise they they made their themselves herb it was great and uh the game
00:02:04was good in patches uh i think i i really alex always peter's always going on about motherwell
00:02:10playing football they did play good football they play in a counter-attack which is very very dangerous
00:02:14and they used it to their advantage they let hubs have a lot of possession of the ball but just
00:02:19waited until they got possession and then hit them at pace yeah we're going to talk about that a little
00:02:24later on the show ruffy obviously we're going to talk about the top of the table and we want your
00:02:29view on it as well the race for the title is really hotting up what about at the bottom end as well give

00:03:18that give us your thoughts on that and of course with a goalkeeper in mind can we start with the
00:03:26save how good was it do you rate it as world class top drawer really good or okay no it's world class
00:03:35it's just it's class and as alex said earlier it was a wow wasn't it yeah he just seems to do it all
00:03:42the time he's done it he did it on the weekend obviously but he's done it before he's done it he's
00:03:46got that knack of actually stretching his whole body to the to the limit and that's what he did
00:03:51at the weekend and it was just right you can see his teammates his teammates actually they actually
00:03:58you know appreciated you know you don't really get that yeah you get that with a striker when he scores
00:04:04but you don't really get it with a goalkeeper if he makes a save but they all bought into it and when
00:04:08it happened and what it meant to hearts themselves the last touch of the ball ruffy it was and it was a
00:04:13great header and it came off the ground as well and uh he just actually he's got the knack of
00:04:19extending himself where other goalkeepers can't yeah the other thing about it alec and i were talking
00:04:23about it before we come on here uh when he heads the ball i shout goal because i'm thinking it's it's
00:04:30just net bound and you're like even you you know you're talking about the fact that you're you're
00:04:35reacting and thinking bloody hell what a save i think that would have done for most people because when
00:04:40you see it you're shouting goal i went oh my god what i say that is because he's actually going
00:04:44one way and then he redirects himself and he springs and he's absolutely right he's got such a big frame
00:04:49but you then have to factor in he's 43 he'd only played one game club game this season you think to
00:04:56yourself how's this guy producing this because whatever you say there'll come a point in your
00:05:00career that you go do you know what i don't fancy getting up in the morning i don't feel like training
00:05:04uh every day but obviously with the world cup uh around the corner with performances like that
00:05:11peter you know he's a number one shooter yeah i think i think with the bad injuries that he's had
00:05:15as well he's lost a lot of time you know he was out for a while now maybe he said to himself look i'm
00:05:19going to make up for lost time here and that's what he's doing the other thing about it i mean he did
00:05:24make a couple of saves okay it's bog standard uh with one of them at the free kick but he's still got
00:05:29to make that save you know yeah listen at once hearts a game i thought that obviously sending
00:05:34off changed the game i thought hearts were relatively comfortable the second half i don't think dundee
00:05:38a lot of possession without really cutting hearts open they seem to you know persist with putting
00:05:43crosses into three four giants in there and you're just thinking to yourself you need to change it
00:05:46somehow you need to try and slip balls through into strikers rather than just lump balls in because
00:05:50the hearts defenders finley halkett guys like that dealt with that all day mccart and uh just when you
00:05:55think the game's peter now it's a world-class save and i just think it shows you how
00:05:59good a professional Craig Gordon is as alex said that's his first game since denmark he's not
00:06:03played a game since that denmark game that's him coming in as a sub and you think well he's a bit
00:06:07rusty not played a lot of games and he looks sharp as a tack so yeah i agree with everything that's
00:06:12been said i think he'll get a run of games now i think he's in the team now uh swallow will be banned
00:06:17and it's up to him to stay in the team if he stays in the team i think he'll be in the scotland team at
00:06:20the world cup we'll talk about the red card in a moment was it a red card or not but all of the
00:06:26saves i thought i'd just indulge in a wee bit of what we call you know uh three laggers and a
00:06:30chaser and let's all assess this this save ali um i'm thinking top five saves you know of all time
00:06:38very difficult because there are saves down through the years that it will spring to everyone's mind
00:06:44but i've put five together i've actually put six together to be fair to one of the people who's
00:06:49actually on the program today so uh gordon banks jorginho cross belly yep top drawer um second one
00:06:59david seaman against sheffield united the ball's going in and he's going back the way and claws it
00:07:04out uh third one jersey dudek shevchenko champions league final i can't remember that honestly 2005

00:08:28a guy called bubacar sanogo i was commentating on it i'll never forget it what a save from mcgregor
00:08:35and and and how he managed to get it it was phenomenal do you remember that one time i do
00:08:40remember it and as i said al mcgregor would would make them a regular basis for rangers as well yeah
00:08:44so yeah that was that was a fantastic save as well yeah good one and thank you for that uh message
00:08:49there on that and there's so many people mentioning uh some of the great saves down through the years
00:08:55so we've indulged in a little bit of that in tribute to craig gordon it was top drawer
00:09:00swallow red card ruffy no not for me uh i think it might have been a red card if the boy had
00:09:06taken a step to the right and was just about to you know put it in the net but i don't think he was
00:09:11that far i think i think i thought he'd lost control of it completely uh yellow card for me not a red
00:09:16yeah okay great thing about this is that we all got on with each other but we all disagree
00:09:21yeah yeah partly if he skips past him he's getting a shot off so if he doesn't make that
00:09:27contact he's definitely getting a shot off and for me that's a goal scoring opportunity yeah
00:09:32yeah and and and with that goal scoring opportunity do we take into consideration the other two who
00:09:38are uh you know there no no i think he's still there's a guy coming laterally because he takes
00:09:43it sideways yeah i don't think that guy's getting to the ball first i think he's onto that first so
00:09:48then you're now talking about the guy who's trying to protect the goal line my card yeah and i just
00:09:52don't think he well that's the thing is it's subjective is can he score anything there is big
00:09:56goal without him using his hands so that would be and that's the reason why they've given it yeah
00:10:01apparently yeah yeah sorry red card peter i just thought it was a wonderful you know show of var
00:10:08that's probably the best i've seen in scotland because there was two incidents it was the one where
00:10:11the goalkeeper kicks out it's a tight one the first flick then the second header is tight as well
00:10:15and then he goes around the goalkeeper and then you know gets he's going to get shot away and score
00:10:20i think so i think it's a red card but i thought it was perfectly worked out by var and a good example
00:10:25of var working and i'm glad to see us worked once this weekend yeah i'm going to say a great a great
00:10:30example every week but we've got to say you got it it was a good decision hang fire we're only we're
00:10:36only 10 minutes into the show time before you actually start saying oh var it was wonderful
00:10:40um listen how can you how can you be fouled like devlin midway inside his own half and then move
00:10:47another 15 20 yards up and take a free kick surely at that point you've got it wrong you're looking for
00:10:53a reaction to me it was diabolical how that he's allowed to carry on with that and and in saying
00:10:57that commend hearts and the way that they actually carved them open yeah they switched off but tam you
00:11:03can't get that that badly wrong now if it's a couple of yards then you've you know you're switching
00:11:07because it's in the vicinity it's like me walking to here to the end of the studio it's i thought it
00:11:12was ridiculous that the referee and the linesman don't pick that up yeah rough it was actual dundee
00:11:19boy that gave him it it turned the boy through it out of him look at the hair have you that it was
00:11:24it's ridiculous by the way on that point though as a striker but he took his goal well bragging didn't
00:11:31yeah he did it's it's one bit of quality hearts had really all day i think that gets a wee bit lucky
00:11:36with the touch i don't think he means that but another touch out his feet and then bang bottom
00:11:40corner great finish and then from then on you know it was all about i thought dundee played really
00:11:44well i thought they started the game well as well don't they with the header you know i thought they
00:11:49really pressed hearts the first half they were very positive second half as i said
00:11:53they persisted with the with the touch out your feet the congreve another boy on the left-hand side
00:12:00and and just whipping it in high and hearts dealt with that all day well the one thing i would say
00:12:04to you i mean i remember um andy robertson couldn't get into the liverpool side and he just basically
00:12:09went to jürgen klopp and said look what i have to do to get into this side he says well son
00:12:13quite simply you're getting down the flank you need to work more on getting that quality ball in
00:12:18and for me i like congreve yeah because i think he's got a trick yeah no he's on his left peg but
00:12:24the amount of times he skinned the player and then couldn't get it past the first man was you know
00:12:29you're doing your head in with it but i like him yeah no listen and and i think that's one of the
00:12:33reasons why and i mean this with the greatest respect that at the lower end of the premier league i
00:12:37think when you're looking at the top end players get picked out and i think that's just the level and
00:12:42i felt as if dundee just didn't have the quality at the top end they'd plenty of possession
00:12:46and they were crossing for deeper errors as well which is easier to defend whereas if you get the
00:12:51byline you're rattling in the face like like celtic do quite a lot yeah and then it's cutbacks as
00:12:56well so you can mix it up a little bit but i just didn't think they had that quality but when you
00:13:00consider where they are like and what he inherited a manager who comes in they don't like him yeah
00:13:05and he's got them organized well i actually think the dundee fans are starting to turn a little bit
00:13:10because three wins in the bounds they've done really well against the top of the table team
00:13:14yesterday so for me i think there's real signs that elvis has actually improved that group yeah
00:13:19they've grown in confidence and you can see that within the group and uh i think they'll be safe
00:13:24uh i don't want to give them a mockers but i think they'll be safe if they continue to play that they've
00:13:28shown in the last few weeks okay up at petaudry terrible conditions i must admit um when they said
00:13:35the game was on the the immediate thing in my head ruffy and this is where i think some of us need to
00:13:41obviously a lot of people want to have the games on especially if it's live on the television
00:13:45but for the rangers fans traveling up there now this was an area that had heavy snow
00:13:50driving conditions really difficult you know not the best night for them as well
00:13:54i just i was amazed that the game was actually on in the first place because
00:13:59really treacherous for rangers fans to make the journey up there anyway the game's on but i thought
00:14:04rangers are the cigars out yeah it looked that way it looked as well in control you know aberdeen had
00:14:10wee flurries again jack butlin had a great save uh when it was nothing each you know which obviously
00:14:15kept rangers in the game but after that the chances were all fallen to rangers and you'll
00:14:20obviously talk about the the goal with meet off you know coming out so the goals are a free kick
00:14:25what's what you said because you you oh if he's grazed if he's touched i know what he's going to say
00:14:29i know stick to your guns stick to your guns don't bow i thought it was a foul on the goalkeeper
00:14:36but the goalkeeper wasn't getting the ball so i would have given a goal there's no way he was
00:14:41getting it it's not no but he was never getting it he was never getting it wait a minute wait a minute
00:14:45yeah you and i have talked about grazing a goalkeeper and you yes yes
00:14:52it's a foul but the goalie's got away with it because he's not getting it no so he was lucky
00:15:00yeah right okay so he's in your camp so you don't need a leather arm because i can see this i can see
00:15:05i can see you with the shinnies on ready to put a tackle on it you can't you can't take away his hand
00:15:12you can't take away you've got to jump you've got to use your arms yeah well use your arms but
00:15:18don't touch the goalkeeper's arms but how can you how can you jump with a goalkeeper and not touch
00:15:22him well it's your own fault if you touch him it's never a foul i didn't think it was never a foul
00:15:26he got away with it against them as well i didn't think it was a foul i'm in your camp but you think
00:15:29it was a foul well listen i was i was hoping it was a a goal at the time but when i actually seen the
00:15:34replay and he's up and he is he's towering above him i don't think he's getting the ball
00:15:37as soon as you knock his arm out the way because you never know he may get a hand on it at a high
00:15:43point but initially when i saw it i thought he's towered above him it's a goal and then when i seen
00:15:49it from various angles i thought no that's going to be overturned yeah i must admit i thought it was
00:15:53a goal but i actually thought it was a bad decision for him to come so far i know why was he out there
00:15:57in the first place you're no better than me but it's not it's not he gets out of jail yeah he gets
00:16:03out of jail but it's not the strength point he's game he's a shot stopper he makes makes a lot of
00:16:08acrobatic stuff and he'll balls it right up and it makes it look good but he's in the air it's not
00:16:13the first time he's been caught suspect yeah he doesn't want to catch he wants to punch i just hate
00:16:19goalies i just honestly i just think they're overprotected yeah the same one against st murn
00:16:23but he came for it and they get a wee nudge and that get too chopped off as well yeah i know you're
00:16:27being slightly overdramatic you don't hate all goalies or some goalies are some nice you can't get near
00:16:31them but they're really annoying yeah they can come out and smash you kenny who's a daverdeen fan
00:16:36he's having none of it he says he knocked his arm he's absolutely right so that's fine that's fine
00:16:42and paul brady who just has completely and utterly lost the plot says ruffy's buzzing on glue um it's
00:16:49as simple as that so he's not having any of you
00:16:51so so uh listen to the great thing about it is it's all about opinions on it at least you'll get
00:17:00one uh so meet off gets the decision no goal uh penalty for rangers
00:17:06shinny yeah he just catches him and do you know the telltale sign at that particular time was shinny
00:17:13he hardly protested really he just turned and he was like a half-hearted he's went oh i've just caught
00:17:18him there um and the thing is when i initially saw it because he's got a wee bit of history
00:17:22kasama yeah i thought you know he might have and then when i seen it again from behind i thought
00:17:27that's a good decision yeah i thought he caught his thigh tam i thought it was a penalty i thought it
00:17:31was this is breaking your heart is it i suppose i can see it yeah i'm very very pro rangers are they
00:17:35yeah it was a penalty i mean yeah um tell the players reaction yeah and uh and i never thought i'd
00:17:42see it obviously the good thing about the the program is every now and then because we like a bit
00:17:46of banter we also like to let you in on some of the the things that are going on especially behind
00:17:51the scenes ruffy and it's now getting to the really worrying stage where tam says i never thought i'd
00:17:57see it but he he's looking for rangers to win the league now rather than hearts which is which is
00:18:02astonishing astonishing astonishing i mean i reckon you have hated people can be
00:18:07well to be fair it's only a game it's only a game but there'll be protesters outside his house in
00:18:15east colbride it was four or five weeks into the season i'd say that hearts would not win the league
00:18:20and if they did i'd wear a full strip shinny's and boots so that's part yeah yeah absolutely um
00:18:25anyway one thing a few gigs about the hats end if you wear your hats up yeah so the other thing i was
00:18:32going to say to you is if there's one thing that the aberdeen fan the aberdeen team can't get right
00:18:37is the set pieces they had the warning at ibrox and they didn't pay heed to it again uh nice finish
00:18:44by asgard but just so basic yeah it was and listen rangers have been have been tremendous at set
00:18:50pieces this season it's won them the last two games if you look at the last two games against
00:18:54aberdeen about three goals from set pieces and one from a penalty it's massive it's been the
00:18:58difference it's been the difference in the game i don't think there's been a lot in the game
00:19:00in terms of opportunities for either team so you know they're very very strong at set pieces
00:19:05fernandez is massive he's huge he's a real real powerhouse in the opposition box asgard good
00:19:11movement good finish poor defending and um yeah i think that when you look at the the investment
00:19:17in rangers and we're going to go into we've obviously spoke about hearts they've got a set
00:19:20piece coach as well both of them are the top two teams in the league and both of them are the top
00:19:24two goals from set pieces so it's obviously working for them so much in it time in terms of the
00:19:29actual goals for uh hearts were taught i read i seen yesterday but rangers will be catching them
00:19:35because that's that's three in the last two games i've scored for set plays yeah absolutely um thank
00:19:39you to so many of you for your messages uh gary has nailed it and we know he's nailed it as well
00:19:44tam is now pro rangers because he's terrified of wearing that heart strip you're absolutely right
00:19:49gary that is what's driving him on at the moment uh also uh over and above that a couple of things
00:19:56which i think uh got to get our thoughts on but first and foremost uh alec it's five consecutive
00:20:02wins daniel rule i seen a stat yesterday peter which suggests that i think it was saying that
00:20:07the since he came in he's taken 35 points uh from the league games and the next one's 26 which was
00:20:13motherwell that's an incredible return and uh it's the same group of players that you know that
00:20:18inherited for russell martin so i said this for day one that what i liked about him was he was willing to
00:20:24change uh depending on who he had available and opposition so he's flexible and he's uh pragmatic
00:20:31to change you know he had the previous manager unfortunately had a philosophy and he wasn't
00:20:36budging one iota so for that for that perspective i think the players are buying at him i think this
00:20:42group are grown in stature as well they look as if they're in a really good place yep and i can see
00:20:49them kind of growing uh as a as a unit and and if they can get a couple of players in which it looks
00:20:55like in january as well ship ship out a couple of the ones that are going to be surplus i think going
00:21:00into the the running i think they're really well placed yeah a couple you know i want to get a couple
00:21:05of things out of the road obviously you know we did mention it in the the main headlines
00:21:09tochi chikwani uh andreas score olsen and tour rumans on the way uh so they are making moves and
00:21:18quickly are off the uh rangers but all the last bits to talk about that in the game
00:21:25uh as well as the five consecutive wins a couple of incidents that happened fernandez hit with a
00:21:31missile i just don't understand how whether you're you can't even think about who who is throwing the
00:21:38missile what age they are uh if they've any brains whatsoever but get players getting hit with
00:21:44missiles it's just not good it's stupid and the cctv should be able to pick them up i think they
00:21:48should be highlighted named and shamed yeah well it's happened on numerous occasions i can't remember
00:21:54uh what game it was a hibs game i think it was a i can't remember it was a celtic support a ranger
00:21:59support and the ccc did identify him and his company sacked him as a ccc cctv cctv cctv
00:22:07with that extra c is this a really good camera that catches close up yeah really close up
00:22:12and it costs and it costs the guy's favorite club the embers cc blooms
00:22:17and it costs the guy's job yeah and that's what you like to see companies acting very quickly
00:22:23other one i have my own opinion on this one alec which yes away in geese piece
00:22:29it's uh first and foremost it's unnecessary for them to come back out and do that and listen see
00:22:36the thing is it's like i used to love you know what i loved see when you get you had a win and
00:22:41you're walking half and somebody's getting your abuse i'd be like oh all day long my man absolutely
00:22:44and i loved it so i don't really see the the point he might he might pick up he might pick up a fine or
00:22:50you know uh uh you know a game ban or something like that which would which would be really
00:22:55unnecessary i take that but for god's sake man it's it's it's highly it's highly like kind of
00:23:00you know mind-blowing stuff but it's unnecessary and do you know the thing is they still shouldn't
00:23:04have done it peter do you know what it does i know that i know that i'm not condoning it okay
00:23:07it allows folks like us to talk about it pundits and so forth uh people out with the game
00:23:11but in the grand scale of things it's nothing if a missile's if a missile's hitting you then yeah
00:23:15it's all rummage okay maybe because i like a noise up uh but nevertheless yeah i love it by the way
00:23:23it's water you know and aberdeen fans going as if somebody's you know uh somebody's washed me
00:23:30uh anyway uh it might pick up a ban who knows uh martin and neil ruffy isn't it amazing
00:23:37danny rule can transform a an underachieving side martin and neil walks in i said to you on
00:23:43friday that everybody expects him just to flip it and he did yeah he did he went back to the
00:23:48formation that he did particularly well with uh it was a 4-2-3-1 you know i think that suited the
00:23:53players that he had at his disposal uh the two centre-halves weren't as uh vulnerable as what
00:23:59they were on a back three you know the protection of the two fullbacks and uh going forward they got
00:24:05back into the groove and i didn't think dundee united were particularly good at some of the
00:24:09goals but you can't take that away from them that some of the players you know really turned it on
00:24:14and it was for him to go back there you could see he wasn't he he's usually trackside he's out there
00:24:19jumping about but he was sort of a playing it a wee bit cool when it was 2-0 you know just sitting
00:24:23down and letting it all happen yeah um listen you look and you say to yourself okay the transformation's
00:24:31there you only have to read between the lines and some of the players comments about what was going
00:24:36on with wilfrid nancy a few of them are coming out now and speaking into this they were very very quiet
00:24:41under the previous manager peter which absolutely i don't particularly agree with and they're coming
00:24:46out and saying that they're happy that the new manager's back and you know how we like to get
00:24:49our facts right you know because obviously their pr department likes to have a wee dig at everybody
00:24:54every now and then but you know when the facts are there they're there yeah yeah they are peter
00:24:59and they're going to evolve in your battles um listen listen listen i think the players are happy
00:25:05that martin o'neill mark fothering i mean sean mooney are back i think and i don't think they were
00:25:09having it i called it earlier i just didn't think they were having nancy and his staff and it showed
00:25:13in the pitch i didn't think there was a lot wrong and again celtic created seven eight nine great
00:25:18opportunities they could they could have took seven off it done united if they were clean on their
00:25:22finishing they didn't they still scored four they had a clean sheet it's like martin's never been
00:25:27away the celtic supporters are happy there seems to be a bit more unity in the stands and the celtic
00:25:32will be looking to push on firstly catch rangers and then catch catch hearts but yeah one thing

00:26:39towards the player and uh two mistakes there alec the decision by the ref and the bar yeah well
00:26:44listen i'm not even sure it got to var that's the the issue i think here because when i see tackles
00:26:48like that and it's a high bar because obviously the boy donovan had a similar one uh last month
00:26:54against hibstam do you remember when he lunges into the boy but i actually think this was even worse
00:26:58because he absolutely smashed him and uh see as soon as i seen that live because i never
00:27:02i never get a a replay directly after it you automatically know you go oof because he hit
00:27:08him that hard uh and i just for the life of me can't understand what it was in a red card yeah
00:27:13uh i'm going to talk about that boggling that was never i've not i've not i've spoke to all the
00:27:18boys in football today and that as well and you're going look what you think now right and this kind
00:27:22of divided dressing room and you go what you think you're going that's a shocker you shouldn't be
00:27:26two red cards for that that's what one of them said to me i burst out laughing and i thought
00:27:29it just i just it baffles me how that's not even been picked up by ver yeah um great credit to uh

00:27:41celtic must break your heart why not come over to ibrox and the bears pakora on the menu um there's no
00:27:47there's no point in getting abused at both both ends of the city no we we'd probably just meet you in there

00:28:07he never make that walk um and also um peter concerning that martin o'neill comment read
00:28:16transfers uh was about supplementing the squad should be seeing transfers to start straight
00:28:21away brian you're absolutely right because if anything you know although there's this continued
00:28:26battle between green brigade and uh and the club and the fans are still not happy with them
00:28:32um i cannot believe uh this celtic board this celtic backroom team uh has not got their act
00:28:41together they are so slow off the mark um with uh you know martin and he always recalled stephen welsh
00:28:48from motherwell that's the first thing um he's done whether alec and i were debating whether that's
00:28:53to flush out a bid for stephen welsh or indeed he just needs cover back in there um but over and above that
00:28:59i think you know it kind of a further highlights how inept that board has been uh and complacent
00:29:10with regards to trying to give the manager the backup that he needs in quickly and and you're
00:29:16hearing sniffs celtic have declared an interest in kieran bowie really no i think we've all discussed
00:29:23it that the the as far as the league's concerned this transfer window is going to be so important to
00:29:29the three teams at the top uh and two of them have acted very very quickly uh i'd love to know i
00:29:35know nancy's away now and i'd love to know the players that he was thinking about bringing in
00:29:40and then tidsrail's away as well so who was on his list so who's deciding it now it's a setback
00:29:46because you've got hearts and rangers now with managers who have had a long long time to identify
00:29:51the players that they want you know and now we're seeing who is making the decisions because when martin
00:29:57and the old left i'm sure he wasn't sitting in the house wondering about what players were going
00:30:01to come in because he didn't know he was coming back yeah so interesting to see who is making
00:30:06the decisions in this window another example of celtic sleeping the reveal peter that's
00:30:09complacency and you look at the other two clubs who are in about it hearts going for it rangers
00:30:14rangers won the league they're going to the automatically champions league spot next year
00:30:17they're going to go for it i think this window i think rangers are going to spend big money
00:30:21and they're going to go for it and if celtic don't celtic don't bring players in
00:30:25three four in in this window they're not going to win the league four in my opinion i think they
00:30:28need two strikers and a center half and a wide player but they certainly need two strikers and
00:30:33a center half and if they don't get them in i don't think they'll win the league so it's critical
00:30:38that celtic go and bring players in but again taking their time dragging their heels you've got
00:30:42rangers out there probably signing three or four players already and i think the other couple come in
00:30:47there going for it and rangers always do if they've got a sniff of winning the league they go for it they
00:30:50spend money and hearts are doing it as well celtic don't they think they've got enough in the building
00:30:54wouldn't they win it and i don't think they have i don't i genuinely don't think that the celtic
00:30:57board think they've got enough in the building time i think they've just not identified the
00:31:00right targets at the moment i can tell you without a shadow of anybody doubting contradicting me that
00:31:06martin is looking at that squad and he's looking at the quality of it and the depth of it and he is
00:31:12worried and he's worried big time and he wants players in and he wants players of a certain quality
00:31:18players of a certain quality that the previous manager before wilfrid nancy had confirmed to
00:31:24everybody three players of quality not the seven that were signed by somebody else in the building
00:31:30because they weren't the players that he was looking for those three players of quality to start in that
00:31:35team is what martin and neil's looking for and unless they get a move on i am looking at it and i'm
00:31:41saying to myself we've all tried to call things over every week and we've had knee jerk and i'm
00:31:47talking about this program i'm talking about radio i'm talking about television rangers lost to hearts
00:31:53everybody's saying that's it they're out of it there and now they're back in it um you've got hearts
00:31:57digging in getting the results that they need they need to after having a couple of draws when everybody
00:32:04said the bubble was burst it wasn't burst but celtic have got a situation roughly where they've got
00:32:09falkirk on wednesday night which feasibly martin could gear them up and get you know a result there
00:32:16but if they don't get players in before the 25th that he suddenly has to hope are going to start
00:32:21the game they're at time castle against hearts and if for me if hearts go nine points clear of celtic
00:32:27then i think too big a gap i think hearts will win the league yeah i think that's why it's so
00:32:32important that somebody gets their act together and then and bring some players in the the good thing
00:32:36about hibs sorry hearts and ranges are they're bringing in players that nobody's hinting it's
00:32:42coming in they would they're identifying guys and bringing them in there's no oh they could go for
00:32:47him go for him they're signing players that nobody's been talking about so they're working very well
00:32:53behind the scenes they're keeping it close to their chest who they who these guys are and and as you
00:32:58said they're at celtic are just going is it him is it him it's all just hearsay yeah and who who fed the
00:33:03line to them uh declaring an interest in kieran bowie what's that all about i don't know but
00:33:09peter i don't think they're going to get kieran bowie in this window yeah i don't think anyone
00:33:13will get him out of the house maybe in the summer would it be easier to declare an interest in lamin
00:33:16yamal yeah i mean what does that mean i mean you know if you're going to go and put a bid in for
00:33:21him are you just declaring an interest of course they're interested he's one of the top young scottish
00:33:25players in the league of course the lte rangers are going to be interested in him but
00:33:27he's a different profile to what they both have at the moment as well oh i think i think he's i think he's
00:33:31i think you're going to both both teams now yeah and rangers and improve um so i think he's a he's
00:33:37a really really good young player and he's scored nine goals i think this season so i'm just looking
00:33:41at celtic's pictures that peter you've got it up there the next four weeks celtic are playing three
00:33:45games a week they've got two or three european games obviously the fall cut wednesday night then
00:33:49they've got two european games coming up that squad is not built at the minute to play three games a
00:33:54week and that's why martin and he was desperate for players to come in
00:33:57uh it's going to be really really interesting to see uh what they do uh ruffy and the type of player
00:34:06that they've got i'm again i'm he took his goal well and we're going to talk about hibbs at the
00:34:11weekend but i'm not so sure martin is even looking at that level and saying kieran bowie is going to
00:34:18satisfy my desire my wish list my hit list for getting celtic into the into the you know the
00:34:27real contenders to win that league i think he's looking for something different well i like no
00:34:32better than us at this stage alley is it an agent that's going to force some players do you have
00:34:37enough contacts that you you trust well somebody who's got as long as you know who the guy is
00:34:44so it's agents mostly but then you obviously get contacts within the game as well people
00:34:48talking you know you've got journalists saying so and so is not available and then you think
00:34:52he could do as a turn so you're you're exhausting every opportunity to try and bring the right player
00:34:57at that level anyway you know at our level would agree to suspect you know you're very limited in
00:35:01what you can actually do because of the finances but if you've got saved between five and seven
00:35:05million pound to bring a number nine in it's a wee bit different uh kind of market yeah yeah
00:35:12interesting to see where they go with it they were comfortable against dundee united and they've got
00:35:17falkirk on wednesday um which again is a an interesting one because yet again john mcclenn just
00:35:26keeps producing results this time against st mirran who suddenly are the cup winners
00:35:31finding themselves in trouble how do you see celtic fearing
00:35:35it's a real tricky game i mean i don't think any celtic i don't think just go there and turn that and
00:35:39win i think you've got to go and earn that falkirk i mean i've seen a start this morning when john
00:35:44mcglynn took over at fall cup they were seventh in league one that's right and they're now in the
00:35:47top six yeah and in premiership so a phenomenal job a really underrated manager done tremendously
00:35:54well i'm really surprised that there's not been bigger clubs sniffing about with the job he's done
00:35:58and they and they'll take it to celtic they'll give celtic a game on wednesday night so
00:36:03obviously we're talking about the game at the weekend i thought they thoroughly deserved it
00:36:06second half they'd created numerous chances st murn were woeful i think stephen robinson's come out
00:36:11the first time i've really seen him come out and have a real go to players i think the week before
00:36:15he kind of ran off as a one-off but two bad results in a row and then a relegation battle so
00:36:22yeah but i think you've got to give all the credit to falkirk they went there and played
00:36:25st mirn off the park second half and thoroughly deserved to win yeah and some good goals as well
00:36:30yeah they did you know listen they take the two finishes tremendously well and you know they could
00:36:35have scored four or five in the second half but yeah i just think that falkirk are one of the
00:36:40the surprise packages of the season a lot of people would have thought they'd get
00:36:43the relegation mix particularly this time in the year december january can they do it in
00:36:47a way you know st murn park you know in the pissing rain and the wind and they've done that oh
00:36:52hard-hitting timbo eh brilliant eh swearing and everything on the show eh brilliant eh well done

00:39:18think you have to give motherwell a great deal of credit they they made a noise they made we always
00:39:22say you know it's good to have a large segment away fans at a game they make it sometimes when the
00:39:28game's a wee bit drab but there's certainly noise who both sets of supporters kept us going through it and
00:39:33uh i thought it was a good game to watch i think everything you said about motherwell
00:39:38possession wise comfortable on the ball uh like to interact with each other and the wee boy just
00:39:45for me is a player and a half he just makes his sales look modric he makes his sale available
00:39:50for anybody that's in trouble he just makes that wee move to make it easier for them and he was the main
00:39:55man for me good left peg yes super super player yeah and uh the other uh gentleman that needs a
00:40:01uh credit is mazwanisi because as well as coming back from the african cup of nations when he gets
00:40:0818 yards out you know that he's going to hit the target yeah i really like him i think he's he makes
00:40:14great runs and from a wide area in between center backs um he doesn't just stand out in the wings he
00:40:19moves into little pockets as well and when he gets on about the edge of the box you've seen his goal
00:40:23he shifts it quickly yeah and i think that maybe went through the goalkeeper's legs but the goalkeeper
00:40:27wasn't set for it and he puts it right in the corner and he nearly got nearly done it again
00:40:31in the second half as well so yeah i watched the game i thought draw was a fair result um motherwell
00:40:37could have nicked it towards the end fascinating clasher styles and motherwell more possession based
00:40:43um try to hit hibbs in the counter-attack hibbs went a wee bit longer at times he got crossed into
00:40:47the box to bowie first half i thought hibbs just shaded it motherwell i thought the second half
00:40:51are the better team but i thought it was a really really good game actually and they draw a fair result yeah
00:40:55um interesting that uh the take on it i thought motherwell just edged it maybe i'm just being a
00:41:01little bit biased on the fact that i'm watching them in the style they could have won it at the end
00:41:05yeah they could have sneaked it with uh i think it was lungello at the chance in the the left-hand
00:41:09side he's he's manager of the month for december uh jens berthard last week they showed you how
00:41:14good a manager he was to win up yeah absolutely he's uh yeah i i like him uh i like his uh i like the way
00:41:21he he he wants his team to play um i did mention to him you need another striker and he went well
00:41:26we've got one you know just that kind of a you know you want a wee bit of disco yeah yeah he's
00:41:33definitely up there but i mean i i think they need i think they need something as an option just to
00:41:39there's too many draws yeah they would be they'd be right in the mix by the way with some of the
00:41:42draws the good thing about it is i'm sure if the board have uh additional cash then they'll most
00:41:47certainly back back the manager because you know and the good thing about the january window as well
00:41:51as see when you're kind of gone nicely then someone else comes in the door just sometimes gives them
00:41:56that little couple of percent uplift and and you know it may well make the difference how demoralizing
00:42:01is it and you've suffered the same with uh uh oisin yeah going back to st mirran they've recalled him
00:42:08um but you know welsh has gone back that's a blow for us yeah and you know paul brady just said
00:42:14here maz when he sees a better shout and bowie to celtic um you know who knows but the one thing
00:42:20about the point that paul's making there which motherwell fans will be scared of is people cherry
00:42:24picking their team apart yeah absolutely and uh i think i think he well that's the thing is you're
00:42:30always worried about somebody coming in when you when they're doing so well and you can't blame the
00:42:34players for wanting to go as well because it's you know it's a short career really so uh they'll be
00:42:40hoping that there's no bids come in for any of these lads because they are there's a few players in
00:42:44there that are really stand out so uh but the boy welsh going back to celtic's a real blow for him
00:42:48uh you know he's going in there he's enjoying his football yeah and that's the thing you're looking
00:42:53at him you think to yourself he's getting game time which would have been the idea of getting
00:42:57there even showcasing aberdeen supposedly showing an interest as well so maybe this is to flush it out
00:43:03but i don't think anything will happen to celtic until they get a few more center halves in the door
00:43:07yeah uh he's playing good football as well ruffy i mean he's he's a calm influence at the back and
00:43:12they you know you don't get seven clean sheets at home you know unless you've got a settled back
00:43:18four and even when o'donnell was out of the picture he just stuck in there and it hung in there and
00:43:25forced his way into the manager's thoughts and and you've suddenly got a settled back four that's good
00:43:31balance he's one he's one of these players you know and i think everybody had one in their team
00:43:35he'll go to the start again and he'll come in after the game the strip will be clean and his pants
00:43:40will be all right never he's never in trouble he's never honestly he's never
00:43:45analysis you know because you've been to one game no i'm just saying he's he's never he's never in
00:43:51trouble he reads the game he's never sliding in he's never late tackles or anything like that he
00:43:56just reads the game particularly well and on saturday i thought he was the main player in their
00:44:00defense i thought he was superb yeah absolutely um one one at the end of it all but uh
00:44:05uh of course i did look at bowie's goal and i wondered there was a wee bit fortuitous or was
00:44:11it down to his good quick thinking left and then right perseverance i don't think he meant the first
00:44:16touch peter i think he's just had a swipe at it and it's broke to him nicely and he's put it in the
00:44:21in the roof of the net um yeah i i think in terms of kieran bowie you know i think the best place for
00:44:27him now is still at easter road i think he's still learning his trade learning his craft he's seen a couple of
00:44:32times in the first half he's starting to to think about the game more balls are coming into him
00:44:37there was nobody around about him he'd be buying a fill done a couple of times in the first half
00:44:40and you're just thinking right he's getting that experience now he's starting to do the little
00:44:43things you need to do as a striker and i think he'll learn keep learning the more he's playing at
00:44:47hibs so listen i think the summer will be a window where if he goes to the world cup with scotland which
00:44:52he's got every chance of going to and he gets game time and does something in the world cup then
00:44:56hibs will get more money for him and i think that'll be the the ideal window if hibs are going to sell i don't
00:45:00think they'll get they'll sell him in january so your advice is stay there a bigger move yeah i
00:45:05think if he stays at hibs until the end of the season and as i said plays his way he's got nine
00:45:08goals this season nice nine goals this season already if he gets 20 you know i think that and
00:45:14he goes to the world cup then i think hibs will cash in and get more money for him than we would in
00:45:18this window interesting stuff um sometimes uh you don't get that luxury though depending on what i was
00:45:24thinking yeah i'm thinking if someone comes in they think that's a bit spicy we can't afford to keep
00:45:29him with that you know because you've got the cash in at that point it may well happen because
00:45:33we're talking about clubs who are really struggling for number nine at the moment he's a young boy as
00:45:38tam says he's going to develop and i'm sure he will kick on when he understands the game better and
00:45:43links better the whole shooting match uh so you're buying up a boy with real talent there so you know
00:45:49you'd have to pay a premium in this window anyway yeah okay um last match at livingston one
00:45:54kelmarnock one uh quite a few contentious moments in this one in the first minute i could hear
00:46:04get to your new mccann shouting that's a red for glesga yeah uh calambolo off i thought he was
00:46:11fortunate with the first one because it was so early in the game and he hadn't committed
00:46:14three or four bad touches as he did later on so i thought did you think do you think the first one
00:46:19warranted a yellow card at any point in the game yeah yeah yeah i thought and their own opposition
00:46:24half yeah but i thought i just thought it was a bad naive challenge yeah but that happens all over
00:46:30the pitch i know it's the middle of the middle midfielders are a bit late and they're just
00:46:33bringing someone down i just i thought it was because it was so early no i thought it was harsh
00:46:38that early in the game yeah i thought it was harsh but then the referee says that's him set the standard
00:46:43you know you go to start booking people and then he gets two two other files after that and he's
00:46:46lucky to stay in the park i thought the other two were worse than the first one yeah i thought he's
00:46:50very very lucky and it's no no surprise that david martin they'll suck him after 10 minutes yes so
00:46:57so can i can i ask you this you know we're talking about it and we we get really miffed at this
00:47:04inconsistency um it's not just the fact that it's the decision of the referee it's the inconsistency
00:47:12when you're thinking well var sometimes has to take a look at decisions that are made or not made
00:47:18and and i think that's what's infuriating a lot of people as well ruffy yeah i will say that the
00:47:23numerous occasions the dialogue what they tell to each other up there i think when we all need to
00:47:28know when they're looking at the screen i mean you've been up in the room i've never been up in the
00:47:32room you see the tellies out there well they hit the button and they go delay delay delay and then
00:47:36they discuss the the the kind of yeah chain of events yes and while i applaud willie call him i
00:47:44think he's i think he's been a breath of fresh air at the sfa because quite simply he's trying to be
00:47:50transparent he's also trying to increase the communication between managers and referees on
00:47:56decisions why they were made and sometimes sometimes he's had to hold his hands up and apologize on a
00:48:02regular basis i think he's got a hotline but nevertheless you're going to be castigated for
00:48:08it because it's scottish football he's he's tried this communication this transparency and he's getting
00:48:13it in the neck sometimes because quite simply some of our officials are not good enough well the handball
00:48:20at the end of the game um for me it's just as clear cut a penalty as you're ever going to see
00:48:26and so anybody that knows the game at this i mean the balls went past you and the instinct of go oh
00:48:31and it's just an instinct you don't really have a time to actually go i'm going to stop that it's
00:48:35just a kind of a movement towards making yourself bigger and when i saw that at the weekend because
00:48:40to be fair i think it was at don robertson who was looking right down it so even if he's blocked out
00:48:46by the the player that's headed onto his arm then it gets referred to var and they look at that and go
00:48:52no no nothing to see here i find it astonishing and the inconsistency and they're really getting
00:48:58really bogged down because some weeks that has given us a penalty yes in that week and it's that
00:49:02inconsistency that everyone's going what's a penalty so what you have here is is a real kind of
00:49:09lack of clarity in these situations and i know it's very subjective and and sometimes it's a wee bit
00:49:14bodily but for that for me that was clear cut at the weekend and i don't think and this is the thing
00:49:19is you obviously come to a level and we'll go all penalty or non-penalty depending where you see it
00:49:25but see when you have the benefit of multiple camera angles and you still come to that same decision
00:49:30yeah i'm baffled the other big problem here ruffy with this situation which a lot of people don't
00:49:35realize but managers certainly do on such decisions because it's so tight down there a point two points
00:49:44you could be relegated it's livingston within a point yeah yeah that's what i'm saying if
00:49:50livingston get the three points you know you can imagine the atmosphere with the players and the
00:49:54dressing room and they've not won a game for seven months or something like that all of a sudden you're
00:49:58in a team not up up but they're away for the pressure that entails when you're down there for so long
00:50:04flip that and then your neil mccann ten minutes center half's hooked oh sorry whipped half because he's
00:50:09he's he said there two yellow cards yeah so flip that round and you've got you've got the advantage
00:50:14for what 80 minutes and you've got a different game absolutely yeah absolutely and i think that's
00:50:19what's annoying a lot of people the one thing i would see is livingston's goal was quality yeah it
00:50:25was mclennan excellent finish and the build-up as well as well it was good play from livingston don't
00:50:30really associate livingston with that kind of football but they've actually been trying to play this
00:50:34i'll try to tell you something i think that's been his undoing yeah he's tried to play about
00:50:38he's tried to play i mean i've watched i've watched livingston in the championship they
00:50:41they could mix it up but they when they got macaulay tate he was coming short he was taking off the
00:50:47center-halves when you've got two center-halves like danny wilson and ryan mcgowan yeah who are good
00:50:52pros and you've got somebody taking off them and they built and he changed the style of the way they
00:50:57were playing yeah and and suddenly this season you know there's no wins in 18 i don't i i listen i i
00:51:06like i'm a big fan of david martindale um and i think to his credit he's trying to play football
00:51:12he's come a cropper yeah i know i think uh the quicker they get a win the better for them just
00:51:17try and drag command them back but then you have some minimum four points ahead of them so yeah that's
00:51:22relatively 18 14 yeah yeah and 10. yeah so listen one win for either one of the two bottom teams can
00:51:28look a little bit different for whatever way it falls and and we always look and we always try
00:51:34and analyze and try and do this on a regular basis to to try and give people an insight into to what
00:51:41gets you relegated and if you're under 37 points you're gone yeah 37 37 points alec if you've got 37
00:51:49you might be in a playoff that's the playoff point for the last 10 or so seasons i think they pick

00:53:23be at odds here but i wonder if because of the amount of games that are imbalanced towards the
00:53:29championship you're going to have to play six games before you eventually get to a final
00:53:33alec if you're and i think you guys will be in the playoff mix i know and i think that's the way it's
00:53:38geared up i've spoken to people who have actually been in the playoffs in recent years yeah absolutely
00:53:43i think the time you actually get to the kind of final playoff game with the premier league team
