00:00With severe weather back in the forecast I wanted to start by breaking down the categories because you'll see two of the four colors on our maps within the next couple of days the area of yellow and orange the yellow risk is a some risk that means severe thunderstorms possible in parts of the area while the orange risk is a moderate risk which means numerous severe thunderstorms no matter the color you're seeing on the map a lot of us will be dealing with the wind
00:28and I wanted to break down each wind category that we could be seeing and those effects so winds within the strongest storms could range anywhere from 55 to 65 miles per hour today and 60 to 70 miles per hour on Friday with our AccuMiller local storm acts going as high as 80 miles per hour but what kind of damage can those winds do so starting with today's forecast in that 55 to 65 mile per hour range tree damage is common with branches and limbs breaking off and some shallow rooted trees may even be uprooted driving conditions become hazardous
00:58especially for high profile vehicles like trucks and SUVs which may be difficult and could lose control all right how about those loose outdoor objects patio furniture garbage cans those can all be blown around and buildings can suffer minor structural damage with roof shingles being torn off power outages can also be a concern as power lines may be down leading to disruptions in electricity when winds reach that 70 to 75 mile per hour range the potential for damage does increase significantly
01:28buildings can suffer substantial structural damage including roof damage driving becomes more dangerous with a high risk of vehicles being blown off the road and a larger more deeply uprooted trees deeply rooted trees may be uprooted debris including large signs and branches can become airborne at 80 miles per hour the effects are even more severe sheds are poorly built structures and buildings on cement slabs without basements can suffer major damage
