00:11Meeting all the friends we cook for, sharing stories, trips and fun.
00:18Big cook, little cook, we'll cook for everyone.
00:22Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I...
00:29Oh, hello. Welcome to our cafe, the best cafe in the world.
00:36Small? Small? Small? Oh, there you are, small.
00:42Hello, Ben. Hello. Hello, everyone.
00:45Ooh, there's a flower show on today at the Summer Fair.
00:47And if I can arrange this bunch of flowers really beautifully, I could win a special prize.
00:53Wahey!
00:54Now, where to start?
00:56If I move that there and push that... Oh, that one there.
01:02Oh, come on, Ben. Try again.
01:05It can't be that difficult to arrange a bunch of flowers, can it?
01:09You're right, small. I'll have another go.
01:11OK, there we go.
01:13There we go.
01:15There we go. Clean and tidy.
01:17Brilliant.
01:19Hey, what's this?
01:22A skipping rope?
01:24Brilliant.
01:26Salt, mustard, vinegar, pepper.
01:30Salt, mustard, vinegar, pepper.
01:33Right, now all I need to do is get that piece of string to tie it up.
01:36Now, where did I put that string?
01:39Have you seen my piece of string?
01:42Small, have you seen my string?
01:44No!
01:44Hang on, what are you doing, small?
01:49Skipping!
01:50With my piece of string.
01:52I need that to tie up my flowers.
01:54Oops, sorry, Ben.
01:56Thank you, small.
01:59Just tie that round there.
02:01And what do we think?
02:04Um, it doesn't look that bad, Ben.
02:08But it certainly doesn't look good enough to win a special prize at the summer fair.
02:12No.
02:13Oh, come on, small.
02:15We've got a customer.
02:16I'm on my way.
02:17Who is it today, small?
02:34Well, I can't see anyone.
02:36But listen, can you hear that tinkling?
02:42I can, yeah.
02:44It's a flower fairy.
02:46A flower fairy has come to visit our cafe.
02:49Flower fairies love flowers.
02:52Hey, maybe she's come to see yours, Ben.
02:55Hey, maybe she'll bring me luck in the competition.
02:57So we need to make a feast fit for a flower fairy.
03:01Hmm.
03:01But what would a flower fairy like to eat?
03:03Hmm, this is a tricky one.
03:05I think it's time to look in my book.
03:08Yay!
03:17We need a story to help us cook.
03:20Let's take a look in Little Cook's book.
03:23Little Cook's Adventures in the Big World.
03:26Let me see.
03:28One day I was right at the end of the garden
03:31when I heard someone crying.
03:34Then I saw a little flower fairy sat on a pebble,
03:38sniffling away.
03:39She had huge fairy tears rolling down her cheeks.
03:43She was even smaller than me.
03:45So I went up to her and asked her what the matter was
03:48and if I could help.
03:50Oh, hello, small, she sniffed.
03:53A terrible thing has happened.
03:54I've lost my wings.
03:57And with that, she burst into tears again.
04:00But how did you lose them?
04:02I asked.
04:04The flower fairy told me she'd taken them off to wash them
04:07and then hung them on the line to dry.
04:09When she went back to fetch her wings off the line,
04:12they'd gone.
04:14She'd spent all morning looking for them,
04:16but she couldn't find them anywhere.
04:19How could she be a flower fairy without wings?
04:22Don't worry, I told her.
04:25I'm sure we can find something else for you to use as wings.
04:29We tried two leaves, but they were too heavy.
04:33We tried two feathers, but they were the wrong shape.
04:37And then I spotted just the thing, two flower petals.
04:42The flower fairy tried them on, fluttered them and lifted off the ground.
04:48She was so excited, she flitted around the bush making her flower fairy tinkly noise.
04:54She flew higher and higher, right over the bush.
04:59And then I heard her whoop with joy.
05:02I've found them! I've found them!
05:06She cried, and she fluttered down carrying two very dainty fairy wings.
05:11They must have blown off the washing line, she said.
05:15Thank you so much, Small, for helping me.
05:19It was nice to help a flower fairy.
05:21And at least she knows she can use flower petals as spare wings on washing day.
05:26Little Cook to the rescue once again!
05:32That was a great adventure!
05:34And a lovely story!
05:36So what can we make that's delicate and dainty enough for a little flower fairy?
05:42Whee!
05:43This really is a difficult one, Ben.
05:52What to cook for a flower fairy?
05:58Oh!
05:59We can...
05:59Oh!
06:00I know!
06:04Big Cook's Big Cookery Book!
06:07Of course!
06:07The Big Cookery Book!
06:09There's recipes for everything in there!
06:11And where do we look for things to cook?
06:13In the book!
06:13In the book!
06:14In Big Cook's Book!
06:16Woo-hoo!
06:18Well, well, look at this!
06:20The perfect thing!
06:22Flutterby cakes!
06:23Oh, yes!
06:25Flutterby butterfly cakes!
06:27Perfect!
06:28Can you read out the ingredients, Little Cook?
06:30And I'll see if we've got them.
06:32OK, Ben.
06:33Let's see.
06:34We're going to need caster sugar.
06:36Caster sugar.
06:37OK.
06:38Yep.
06:39Got that.
06:39Then we're going to need self-raising flour.
06:42Self-raising flour.
06:43There we go.
06:43Perfect.
06:44Got it.
06:45OK, butter.
06:46Butter from the fridge.
06:47Here we are.
06:48Butter.
06:48And two eggs.
06:50Two eggs.
06:50One, two.
06:52There.
06:52And for decorations, we're going to need jam.
06:55Oh, lovely jam.
06:56There we are, jam.
06:58And jelly sweets.
06:59Oh, my favourite.
07:01Jelly sweets.
07:02Here we are.
07:04Oh, well, that's it.
07:06Looks like we've got everything small.
07:08That.
07:09Then, where does flour come from?
07:12Flour?
07:13Erm, self-raising flour.
07:17Because it's not as if you can, like, pick it off a tree, is it?
07:21Well, no, actually, small, you can't pick it off a tree.
07:24And it's not as if you can dig it up from the ground, either.
07:28No, no, you can't.
07:30So where does flour come from?
07:33Hmm.
07:34Oh, I tell you what, small, why don't you zoom off and find out?
07:38And I'll get everything ready.
07:39That's a great idea, Ben.
07:42I'll be back in a jiffy.
07:47Hey, why don't you come along, too?
07:51Woo-hoo!
07:55Go, small, go, small, whizz away!
07:57I wonder what he'll see today.
08:19Oh, what a beautiful day!
08:22This is a water mill.
08:25This is where flour is made.
08:31This is the stream that runs nearby.
08:35The wheel goes round and round.
08:39It's the water that makes the wheel turn.
08:41Oh, here's some more wheels going round and round.
08:59Flour is made from wheat.
09:02These are the grains that are harvested from the farmer's fields.
09:05This is the wheat that grows in the fields.
09:15Wow, look at that big machine.
09:18It's harvesting the wheat.
09:21All the grains of wheat are being collected behind the tractor.
09:27The harvested wheat arrives at the mill to be turned into flour.
09:31Each grain is crushed between two big stones.
09:34The stones crush the grains so much that the grains turn into flour.
09:47Flour is a very important ingredient for cooking.
09:50It's used to make bread, biscuits, cakes, pastry.
09:54It's used to make all sorts of different foods.
09:59Hey, that was really interesting.
10:02Better dash.
10:04Fly like a flower fairy.
10:20Flip, flip, flip, flip, flip, flip, flip.
10:23Yay!
10:24Woo-hoo!
10:26Brilliant!
10:27I'm back!
10:29Ben, I'm back!
10:32What are you doing, Ben?
10:34You're supposed to be getting the ingredients ready.
10:37I've done that, Small.
10:38I've heated the oven to 180 degrees Celsius, gas mark four.
10:42I was just waiting for you to get back.
10:44Well, then why were you waving your arms about, then?
10:47I was just practising flying like a flower fairy.
10:51Yeah.
10:52How was your trip?
10:53Oh, it was brilliant.
10:55I saw all the wheat growing in the fields, and then it was cut up by this huge, huge machine.
11:00And then it was taken to the mill, where it was turned into flour.
11:05That sounds fantastic.
11:07I'll tell you what, Small, I think it's time to get cooking.
11:10Hooray!
11:10Woo-hoo!
11:11We're all ready, so take a look, and we will show you how to cook.
11:19Jelly boats and pirates go, princess pea pies.
11:23Carrot cakes and fruity smiles, and envelopes surprise.
11:27We love our cafe, and we love to cook.
11:30We have a fantastic recipe book.
11:34He is big cook, and he is small.
11:40Friends in our cafe, we cook for them all.
11:44When your tummy gets all rumbly, you're ready for a treat.
11:50You can make something delicious to eat.
11:53Have you cleaned the surfaces?
12:01Yes.
12:02Have you washed your hands?
12:03Yes.
12:04All clean and ready to cook.
12:07Do you remember the ingredients to Flutterby cakes?
12:10You do?
12:11There was caster sugar.
12:13100 grams.
12:14Self-raising flour.
12:16100 grams.
12:17Butter.
12:17100 grams.
12:18Eggs.
12:19Two eggs.
12:20And for decorations, jam.
12:22Any flavour you like.
12:23And if you really like decorations, lots of jelly sweets.
12:29Whoopee.
12:29Let's get started.
12:31OK, then.
12:32Put the butter and the caster sugar into a bowl and cream them together, like this.
12:44I can do that for you, big cook Ben.
12:46Thank you very much, Small.
12:47But I've got the perfect job for you.
12:50You sort out the cake cases.
12:51Them are your size.
12:53Right you are, Ben.
12:54I'll go and find some.
13:01There.
13:02When it's nice and creamy like this, add your eggs.
13:08One.
13:14Two.
13:15And stir them in.
13:16Hey, look at my flour.
13:22Look at this.
13:23I could be a really good flour fairy.
13:26Flit, flit, flit, flit, flit, flit, flit, flit, flit, flit, flit, flit, flit, flit, flit, flit.
13:30And now for the flour.
13:32Now sieve it in to get rid of all the lumps and bumps.
13:36There we go.
13:39Oh, that's nice.
13:41Oh, that's nice.
13:44And stir it round.
13:50I hope Small's found those cake cases.
13:52I have, and they're all in place.
13:55Brilliant.
13:57Next, it's time to spoon in the mixture.
13:59A dollop in each.
14:01Mmm, I can't wait to taste one of those.
14:12Not yet, Small.
14:14They need to go in the oven before we can eat them.
14:16Oh.
14:17In the oven they go for 15 minutes.
14:20At 180 degrees Celsius, gas mark four.
14:23Now make sure you get your grown-up helper to do this bit for you,
14:26because the oven is hot, hot, hot.
14:29In they go.
14:31I'll set the timer.
14:36Keep an eye on those cakes, Ben.
14:38We don't want them to burn.
14:40What can I do now?
14:42Oh, I can sort out the decorations.
14:47Purple one there.
14:48Yellow one there.
14:50Red one there.
14:52I love the colour red.
14:53What's your favourite colour?
14:55The cakes.
15:03Oh, they're ready.
15:06Oh.
15:07Now remember to get your grown-up helper to take them out for you,
15:09because the oven is hot, hot, hot.
15:11Now you need to leave the cakes to cool for a little while first,
15:16and then we can decorate them.
15:19A purple one there, a yellow one there, and a red one there.
15:23Now this is the good bit.
15:25I've carefully sliced the tops off all the cooled cakes.
15:29That's another job for grown-up helpers to do.
15:31Now I'm going to spread on some of the jam.
15:34Oh, you can use any flavour you like.
15:39I'm using strawberry.
15:41Mmm, that looks yummy.
15:43Now I'm going to slice the top in half.
15:47This is going to be the butterfly's wings.
15:52The jam should help them stick in place.
15:56There we are.
15:58How's that decoration coming on, Small?
16:00Coming right up.
16:04Ooh, good shot, Small.
16:07Wow, that looks just like a butterfly.
16:11Flutterby, butterfly.
16:14There, all done.
16:18They look brilliant, even if I do say so myself.
16:22A dish fit for a flower fairy.
16:26There we go.
16:27Flutterby butterfly cakes coming through.
16:34So what do we do now?
16:35Can we play?
16:36Not yet.
16:37Time to clean and put away.
16:39Hooray!
16:40Hooray!
16:47Wash, wipe, scrub and clean.
16:49Make the kitchen sparkle and gleam.
16:52My name's Ben.
16:56And my name's Small.
16:58We've got the cleanest kitchen of all.
17:02Tidy all the bits and bobs.
17:04The things that help us do our jobs.
17:06Ingredients we'll put away.
17:08Ready for use another day.
17:10Pots and pans will start to smell.
17:11If we don't wash them really well.
17:13And now it's clear.
17:14Let's all smile.
17:15We'll be finished in a little while.
17:17We're all around, up and down.
17:20We've got the cleanest cafe in town.
17:29Ah, here comes the plate.
17:32And it looks like our flower fairy enjoyed her Flutterby cakes.
17:36And she's left us a little wand and a note.
17:40What does it say?
17:41What does it say?
17:42It says, Dear Big Cook Ben and Little Cook Small.
17:46Thank you for my Flutterby cakes.
17:48They were perfect.
17:50I've given you a little fairy wand.
17:52It may help Big Cook's special bunch of flowers.
17:57What do I do with it?
17:59Well, why don't you try waving it over the flowers, Ben?
18:02Oh, yes.
18:03I'll give it a try.
18:05There we are.
18:08Alakazam, alakazee.
18:09One, two, three.
18:10Oh, look.
18:16Oh, thank you, flower fairy.
18:19Now they're sure to win a special prize at the summer fair.
