00:00Big cook, little cook, welcome to our cafe. Big cook, little cook, want you to come and play.
00:15Meeting all the friends we cook for, sharing stories, trips and fun. Big cook, little cook, we'll cook for everyone.
00:29Hello, welcome to our cafe. The best cafe in the world. I'm feeling very sleepy today. I can hardly keep my eyes open.
00:48Hello, little cook. Hello, everyone. It's the perfect day for going jogging around the park. I feel wide awake. How about you, little cook?
01:02Little cook, little cook, wake up.
01:06Oh, hi there, big cook Ben. I'm feeling very sleepy today.
01:11Oh, this won't do, little cook. This won't do at all. We need to wake you up. I know. Why don't we do some wake-up exercises?
01:20Oh, why don't you join in too? Make sure you've got plenty of space. And the first one we'll do is stretch up to the sky.
01:30As high as you can, reach up. Woo-hoo! Are you joining in as well? Are you joining in too, little cook?
01:38I'm too tired to stretch, little cook? I'm too tired to stretch, Ben.
01:41OK, well, how about, oh, yes, some star jumps. Hey, jump up. Reach out wide. This is fun. Are you doing star jumps too? Are you doing star jumps, little cook?
01:54I'm too sleepy to do jumps. Oh, I know what'll wake him up. Shhh.
02:05Boo! Who was that? Who was that? Oh, it was you, big cook. I'm wide awake now. Oh, really I am.
02:18No time for sleeping now, little cook. Sounds like we've got a customer.
02:22I'm on my way. Woo-hoo!
02:34Who's our customer today, Small? Well, it's someone who's almost as sleepy as me.
02:41Well, I don't think anyone could be as sleepy as you, Small.
02:44Oh, they can. I'll give you a clue. She slept for a hundred years and she's very, very beautiful. Can you guess?
02:54Is it Sleeping Beauty?
02:56Yes, Ben. It's Sleeping Beauty. But she looks wide awake today.
03:00I wonder what Sleeping Beauty would like us to cook for her.
03:04I think it's time to look in my book.
03:07We need a story to help us cook. Let's take a look in Little Cook's book.
03:21Little Cook's Adventures in the Big World. Let me see.
03:28There was once a king and queen who had a huge party to celebrate the birth of their beautiful baby daughter.
03:35They invited lots of fairies to the party and each fairy gave the baby princess a good wish.
03:44But one fairy wasn't invited, so she cast a nasty spell on the princess.
03:51On her 16th birthday, the princess will prick her finger and die.
03:56The king and queen were very upset. Luckily, there was still one good fairy who was yet to give her wish.
04:06Unfortunately, she couldn't wish away the nasty spell, but she could change it a little.
04:12The good fairy waved her wand and wished that on the princess's birthday she would not die.
04:18Instead, she would sleep for a hundred years.
04:21Sure enough, on the princess's 16th birthday, she came across an old lady spinning and asked if she could have a go.
04:31As soon as she touched a spinning needle, the princess pricked her finger and fell into a deep, deep sleep for a hundred years.
04:40One sunny day, when I was out for a walk, I bumped into the good fairy who told me it was time for Sleeping Beauty to wake up.
04:47She said I could help by finding a handsome prince.
04:52So I set off and eventually came across a very kind young prince.
04:57I told him the story and he immediately went to find the beautiful Sleeping Beauty.
05:03When the prince found her, he thought she was so lovely that he gave her a gentle kiss.
05:09The Sleeping Beauty opened her eyes straight away and was awake.
05:15Hooray!
05:17Little cook to the rescue once again.
05:20That was a great adventure.
05:22I'm glad you stayed awake for the story, Little Cook.
05:26But now I feel like I could sleep for a hundred years.
05:29No time, Little Cook, we've got to find a recipe.
05:33Now what can we cook for Sleeping Beauty?
05:38Ooh!
05:44I know! Big Cook's Big Cookery Book!
05:47Of course, the Big Cookery Book. There's recipes for everything in there.
05:50And where do we look for things to cook?
05:54In the book! In the book! In the book! In Big Cook's Book!
05:58Here we are! Wake up juice! Perfect for a sleepy princess and a sleepy small!
06:06He-hey!
06:08Brilliant!
06:10Go on, Little Cook! You read out the ingredients and I'll see if we've got them!
06:13OK, let's see. We're going to need strawberries.
06:17Strawberries in the fridge. Here we go! Strawberries!
06:20Oh yes, I love strawberries. Got them small!
06:23Apple juice.
06:25Apple juice in the fridge as well. Here we are. Apple juice. Yep!
06:28Kiwi fruit.
06:30Kiwi fruit. Here we go. Kiwi. Lovely. Kiwis! Yep!
06:34That's it for the ingredients, but we'll also need a drinking straw.
06:38There we are. A drinking straw. Got that small!
06:41Some paper. Oh, paper. Here we go. Yep!
06:46Scissors. Scissors are here. Got the scissors small!
06:51Colouring pencils. There we go. Yep!
06:55And glue! Ooh! Here we are.
06:58Right. Perfect!
07:01Everything we need for the recipe.
07:04It's interesting, isn't it, Small? Today we've got a bit of cooking and a bit of making.
07:08Ooh! And all that fruit looks very colourful, doesn't it, Ben?
07:13Well, why don't you whizz off and find out about kiwi fruits?
07:17Perhaps a ride on your spoon-mobile might wake you up.
07:20That's a great idea, Ben! See you later!
07:23Hoo-hoo-hoo!
07:24Hey! Why don't you come along too?
07:28Wahey!
07:33Go, Small! Go, Small! Whizz away!
07:36I wonder what he'll see today.
07:38I'm in the right place!
07:49This is a country called New Zealand.
07:52This is where kiwis grow, in orchards.
07:56Look! Hundreds of kiwis growing on the trees!
07:59Kiwis are a fruit, and their skin is all hairy!
08:05The kiwis are ready to be picked!
08:08They're being harvested!
08:12Look how fast that man picks them!
08:15Then they're put into big barrels!
08:19Row, row, row, row, row, row, row!
08:23Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
08:25This is where all the kiwi fruits are checked!
08:28They're packed ready to be sent all over the world!
08:32The inside of the kiwi fruit is green with black seeds.
08:36They're very pretty and delicious to eat!
08:42I like kiwis in a fruit salad, but you can eat them as a snack,
08:45just like these boys and girls.
08:47Yum!
08:48See you later!
09:00Oh!
09:01Oh dear, you've got me pinching a strawberry!
09:04I couldn't resist! They're so yummy!
09:07I saw you too!
09:10I found out all about kiwis!
09:13They're a fruit, and they're really hairy!
09:16Did the trick wake you up, little cook?
09:18Oh!
09:19Sort of!
09:20Oh dear!
09:21I don't think it has!
09:23Come on, let's get cooking!
09:25We're all ready, so take a look!
09:27And we will show you how to cook!
09:28How to cook!
09:29The jelly boats and pirates go with princess pea pies!
09:37Parrot cakes and fruit smiles, and envelopes surprise!
09:39We love our cafe!
09:40We love our cafe, and we love to cook!
09:44We have a fantastic recipe book!
09:49He is big cook, and he is small!
09:54Friends in our cafe, we cook for them all!
09:57When your tummy gets all rumbly!
09:58When your tummy gets all rumbly, you're ready for a treat!
10:03You can make something delicious to eat!
10:06Have you cleaned the surfaces?
10:07Yes!
10:08Have you washed your hands?
10:09Yes!
10:10All clean and ready to cook!
10:11Do you remember the ingredients to wake up juice?
10:12You do!
10:13There were strawberries!
10:1420!
10:15Apple juice!
10:16500 millilitres!
10:17Kiwi fruits!
10:183!
10:19Ripe and peeled!
10:20And for the princess straw!
10:22A drinking straw!
10:231!
10:24Some paper!
10:251!
10:26One piece!
10:27Scissors!
10:28Scissors!
10:29Colouring pencils or crayons!
10:30Any colour you like!
10:31And glue!
10:32One small tube!
10:33Whoopee!
10:34Let's get started!
10:35What can I do, Ben?
10:36You're good at drawing, so you can make it!
10:37How do you do?
10:38You do!
10:39There were strawberries!
10:4020!
10:41Apple juice!
10:42500 millilitres!
10:43500 millilitres!
10:44Kiwi fruits!
10:453!
10:46Ripe and peeled!
10:47And for the princess straw!
10:48A drinking straw!
10:49One!
10:50Some paper!
10:51One piece!
10:52Scissors!
10:53Scissors!
10:54So you can make the princess straw, and I'll make the juice!
10:57Yippee!
10:59The first thing we're going to do is put the washed strawberries into a freezer bag.
11:07And then tie it up tightly.
11:14And then, ask your grown up helper to pop them in the freezer.
11:19Over to the freezer.
11:23And in they go for about three hours.
11:26To make the princess straw, put two pieces of paper on top of each other, and draw the
11:32outline of Sleeping Beauty's head.
11:34And then, pop the kiwi fruit into a bowl.
11:35And here's the fun part.
11:44Mash them up with a masher or a fork until you get a fairly smooth pulp.
11:47Hee hee hee!
11:48I like this bit!
11:49How are you doing, Small?
11:50How are you doing, Small?
11:51Oh, fine, Ben!
11:53I'm just cutting out the two pieces of paper with the princess head on it.
11:58Oh, good job, Small!
12:00Now, add about a quarter of the apple juice to the kiwis, and save the rest till later.
12:15I've coloured them in!
12:18Once you've cut out the princess's heads, on one side, draw her with her eyes closed, as if she's fast asleep.
12:28Hey, wakey wakey!
12:30And on the other side, with her eyes open!
12:34I don't think Little Cook's going to stay awake long enough to finish the straw, do you?
12:39Right, where were we?
12:42Okay, pour the kiwi mixture through a sieve into a jug, like this.
12:53There we go.
12:55Now, use a wooden spoon to push it through.
13:00We need to get all the juice out.
13:03Brilliant!
13:05That's all the juice through, I think.
13:09So now, we can pop this into the fridge.
13:16Can you give me a hand, Ben?
13:20Oh, I'm glad to see you're still awake, Little Cook!
13:23Of course I am!
13:25Can you stick the princess's head to the straw, please?
13:28How do I do that, Small?
13:31Glue the heads back to back, with the straw in the middle!
13:35You've done a very good job of the princess sleeping, and of the awake princess!
13:42Very good indeed, Small!
13:44Now, let's stick the straw in the middle!
13:48Take the glue, and I'm going to put a bit on there, and there, and a little bit there, and some there.
14:06And then, put the straw in the middle, and let's stick this down.
14:18There we go!
14:21Now, turn the straw...
14:24...asleep...
14:26...and awake, just like me!
14:31Oh, that's great, Small!
14:33This'll be perfect for drinking the wake-up juice!
14:36Oh, that reminds me!
14:39The strawberry should be frozen by now!
14:42Awake!
14:43Asleep!
14:44Awake!
14:45Asleep!
14:46Awake!
14:47Asleep!
14:48Awake!
14:49Asleep!
14:50You're not falling asleep again, are you, Little Cook?
14:51Nope!
14:52Wide awake!
14:53Right!
14:54Ask your grown-up helper to get the strawberries from the freezer, and the kiwi juice from the fridge.
15:05Then, pour the strawberries into a food processor.
15:13Pour in the rest of the apple juice.
15:22On goes the lid.
15:25And then, whizz-a-whizz-a-whizz!
15:29Whizz-a-whizz-a-whizz-a-whizz!
15:32Whizz it all up until the strawberry is smooth and mashed up.
15:36Whizz-a-whizz-a-whizz-a-whizz-a-whizz-a-whizz!
15:39Then, pour the mixture into a glass.
15:51Oh, that looks delicious!
15:55Oh!
15:56Pour the kiwi juice over the top.
15:59Whizz-a-whizz-a-whizz-a-whizz-a-whizz-a-whizz!
16:10And then, pop in the princess straw.
16:14Oh! She looks asleep!
16:16A bit like Little Cook!
16:19But she won't be when she's drunk at all!
16:21She'll be wide awake!
16:22quite awake. But it's back to sleep for now. Wake up juice coming through. There, all done.
16:40So what do we do now? Can we play? Not yet. Time to clean and put away. Hooray!
16:52Wash, wipe, scrub and clean. Make the kitchen sparkle and gleam. My name's Ben and my name's
17:04Paul. We've got the cleanest kitchen of all. Tidy all the bits and pop. The things that
17:11help us do our jobs. Ingredients we'll put away. Ready for use another day. Pots and pans
17:17will start to smell. If we don't wash them really well. And now it's clear. Let's all
17:21smile. We'll be finished in a little while. All around. Up and down. We've got the cleanest
17:28cafe in town.
17:38Aha! Here comes the plate. Oh yes! And it looks like Sleeping Beauty enjoyed her wake up juice.
17:44Little Cook Small. She's left a note. What does it say? What does it say?
17:49Oh-hoo! Let's see, shall we? It says, Dear Big Cook Ben and Little Cook Small.
17:55My wake up juice was delicious. Whoopee! I feel wide awake now. To say thank you, here's a special gift.
18:04Love from Sleeping Beauty. Small. I wonder what it could be.
18:17A wake up kiss. Sleeping Beauty's given me a wake up kiss.
18:22Oh-hoo-hoo! Big Cook Ben! Big Cook Ben's worn himself out trying to keep me awake. Big Cook Ben!
18:32Big Cook Little Cook. Welcome to our cafe. Big Cook Little Cook. We'll cook for everyone!
