Joe DiBiase explains why he'd like to see more from Bills WR Josh Palmer
Transcript
00:00I think Josh Palmer is a real topic right now.
00:03He has not been somebody that we have really focused on.
00:05It's been more about Coleman this year because Coleman was the big draft pick
00:09and he was basically a first-round pick, but he was really the first pick
00:12of the second round, and they played him all the time,
00:14and he's got the off-the-field stuff, and he's now a healthy scratch,
00:18and that's clear as day unless he was late for another meeting.
00:21He's a healthy scratch, and that's on performance.
00:24But Palmer was an $11 million-a-year contract on a three-year deal.
00:32It's back-to-back seasons where they've gone out and they've looked
00:37for this separator type of receiver and given him a healthy contract,
00:43and the guy does nothing for you.
00:48I mean, yesterday would have been a game to give Allen some easy throws.
00:54I was watching that last night with New England, and it was a big game for Diggs.
00:59Diggs hasn't had a big game in a while.
01:02He's really been slow playing at the last month.
01:05But yesterday, every time they have a third and short or a third and ten even,
01:10and it's going to Diggs, and he's given Drake May options, easy options,
01:15easy throws just because he's getting open.
01:18And, you know, Diggs at this point, like, that's not unachievable.
01:23He's not an A-plus receiver anymore.
01:26He's a B guy.
01:28And I was hoping when they signed him that Palmer could be a B-minus type of receiver
01:34that, yeah, it's third and five, and I just need somebody to get open on their own
01:38and give Josh Allen an easy throw.
01:41And yesterday, Palmer led the team in snaps at wide receiver.
01:45And he is supposed to be your guy that can get open against man coverage especially,
01:52but give your quarterback space to make a throw where he can even miss it a little bit
01:58and still make the completion.
02:00And what do I get at the end of the day?
02:02He played the most snaps.
02:03One target, one catch, two yards for a $10-plus million-a-year contract.
02:11I mean, he's dealt with some injuries this year, too.
02:13Maybe it is very similar to the Curtis Samuel story from last year,
02:16but that is just not happening right now.
