00:00Tredavious White is back here now.
00:02He just resigned to the practice squad.
00:04And one thought, I asked Sal Capaccio, our Bills beat guy,
00:09about White transitioning.
00:12If transitioning to safety was a realistic idea for him three years ago,
00:16probably, coming off maybe the first knee injury.
00:20And it was always no, no, no.
00:23Now he's back.
00:24The Bills, you know, they have all kinds of issues back there.
00:27Gardner Johnson's not going to be in this game.
00:29He's suspended.
00:30I don't think they're going to throw Trey White in there as a safety,
00:33you know, right out of the wrapper.
00:35Is it realistic at all, you think?
00:36I mean, I know you don't maybe study him or anything,
00:39but, like, how challenging would that be for someone who's been at corner
00:42at the elite level, all pro level, that Trey was at a time earlier in his career
00:47to transition to safety if that was in the cards?
00:49Oh, it's a completely different game.
00:51Yeah.
00:52For me, it was a little bit easier because before I was asked to,
00:57or not really asked, was told that I would be moved to safety,
01:02I had gotten hurt towards the end of the season.
01:04So I was working my way back into the roster.
01:09I was being practice squad guy for a little, like, the last two weeks, I believe.
01:15So I had the opportunity to play safety because I needed a guy at safety.
01:18So when I was practicing at safety, I actually felt way more comfortable being at safety than corner.
01:25And the big difference between corner and safety is you're the quarterback of the defense.
01:32You're making sure people are aligned.
01:33You have to be on point on the scheme.
01:36You have to know what the linebackers are doing.
01:37You've got to be comfortable to know to make calls, know what your corners are doing.
01:42And you have to be required to be able to cover the whole field
01:48and understand the whole field and not just a quarter of it.
01:51But Trey White is normally used to just probably falling a receiver around
01:55or containing just one set of the field.
01:59To go from that and ask to do more responsibility,
02:03it does take a lot of practice and it does take a lot of reps to get comfortable
02:07because when you're out there, those bullets are flying and they're going fast.
02:11And you never want to just throw a guy out there thinking that,
02:14okay, just because he played corner, he can do safety.
02:16Not to say that he can't.
02:18He's a veteran guy, knows how to play the game.
02:19But to understand, first of all, he just got here
02:24and hasn't really been in the playbook too heavy in it yet.
02:29And it's a new scheme from what he has done here before.
02:31And it's a new scheme, new D.C.
02:32Yep.
02:33I don't think he has been around Jim at all.
02:36So to have Jim and him have that conversation to kind of build a relationship
02:42and find that chemistry, it would be a lot to ask for him to play safety.
