00:00You know, there are moments in life when the mirror stops feeling familiar, when you catch
00:10your own reflection and think, who is that?
00:14And sometimes the most painful realization isn't the exhaustion in your eyes, it's the
00:21simple, quiet truth.
00:25I have forgotten how to smile.
00:27You know, it's not because you don't want to, not because you are ungrateful, not because
00:36you don't believe in God, but because somewhere along the way, life has pressed you so hard
00:45that the muscles of joy just stop remembering how to move.
00:51And if that is you, I want to talk to you today with honesty, compassion, and hope.
01:01The kind Jesus gave people when they were hurting.
01:06Not pressure and not spiritual performance today.
01:10Just truth, grace, just God meeting you where you are.
01:16You see, forgetting how to smile is not a failure.
01:22It's a sign you've been fighting battles no one sees.
01:26You didn't forget to smile because you're weak.
01:30You forgot.
01:32You've been in survival mode.
01:36Life has hands.
01:38And sometimes those hands push hard.
01:41You know, it wasn't one moment.
02:10It was the accumulation of a hundred quiet heartbreaks.
02:15And somewhere in that weight of all of that, your smile slipped out of reach.
02:22But listen to me.
02:24God does not condemn the weary.
02:27He comforts them.
02:29Psalm 34 verse 18 doesn't say,
02:33God is close to those who pretend they're okay.
02:36It says,
02:38The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.
02:42Meaning, your tears don't scare him.
02:47Your silence doesn't confuse him.
02:51Your heaviness doesn't intimidate him.
02:55He sits with you in it.
02:58And your smile isn't gone.
03:01It's buried beneath what you have survived.
03:05You didn't lose joy.
03:08Joy didn't die.
03:11Joy has just been buried.
03:14Buried under the days you held everything together by a thread.
03:20Buried under the nights you didn't sleep because your mind wouldn't stop racing.
03:25Buried under the moments when you had to be strong for everyone else.
03:32Buried under prayers where all you can manage to say was,
03:38God, please.
03:41Your smile is not gone.
03:45And I want you to know, it's recoverable.
03:48God is the one who specializes in uncovering things you thought were lost forever.
03:55He rolls stones away.
03:56He restores what's been buried.
04:01He brings dead places back to life.
04:05And if he can resurrect a tomb, he can resurrect your joy.
04:11You see, God doesn't heal you by rushing you.
04:16He heals you by sitting with you.
04:20Let me tell you what God never says.
04:23Cheer up.
04:25Just snap out of it.
04:27Put on a brave face.
04:30Those are human words, not divine ones.
04:33When Jesus met people in pain, the grieving, the tired, the overwhelmed,
04:41he didn't demand performance.
04:43He didn't criticize emotions.
04:46He didn't shame their struggle.
04:49He simply came close.
04:52He touched the leper.
04:54He wept with Mary.
04:57He restored people gently.
04:59You see, God heals the brokenhearted by presence, not pressure.
05:06He stays.
05:08He listens.
05:09And he carries.
05:12And if you can't smile today, he isn't disappointed.
05:17He's near.
05:19You see, it doesn't take a big miracle to bring back your smile.
05:24Just a spark.
05:26Joy doesn't return all at once.
05:29You don't wake up one morning with fireworks in your heart.
05:34Healing is quieter than that.
05:37Softer.
05:39Gentler.
05:40It begins with tiny sparks.
05:44A moment of stillness where you realize you're still breathing.
05:49A verse that lands in the exact place you're hurting.
05:53A laugh you didn't expect to escape your lips.
05:58A memory that warms instead of wounds.
06:03Or a sunrise that feels like God whispering, I'm not done.
06:10These small sparks matter.
06:13God grows joy like seeds, not explosions.
06:19So, if you don't feel joy yet, don't think you're going backward.
06:25If all you managed to do today was get out of bed, well, you know what?
06:31That counts.
06:32And if the best you could do was whisper, help me, Lord, he heard it.
06:40If all you did was refuse to give up, heaven celebrates that.
06:47Because God never asks for what you don't have.
06:50He works with what little you can bring.
06:55A mustard seed is enough.
06:59A trembling prayer is enough.
07:03A flicker of hope is enough.
07:07And God won't give you back the old smile.
07:11He'll give you a better one.
07:13You see, God never rewinds.
07:16He restores forward.
07:17That means he's not making you back to who you used to be.
07:23That person didn't know what you know now.
07:28That person didn't carry the wisdom, compassion, or strength that you have gained.
07:35When God heals your smile, it will be deeper.
07:40It will be more rooted.
07:42It will be anchored in faith.
07:44It will be seasoned with gratitude.
07:47It will carry the weight of someone who has survived storms.
07:52And it will shine with the testimony of someone God rescued.
07:58You won't smile again because life gets easier.
08:06You'll smile again because God rebuilt something beautiful inside of you.
08:11The return of your smile will be a witness to the world.
08:16The return of your smile will be a witness to the world.
08:17And you may not realize it.
08:20But someone is watching you fight through this season.
08:24Someone sees you.
08:25Someone sees you.
08:26Someone sees your resilience.
08:28Someone sees you still trying.
08:32Someone sees you choosing God even when your emotions are drained.
08:38And one day, sooner than you think, when your smile returns, it won't just warm your face.
08:49It will strengthen someone else's faith.
08:53People will look at you and say,
08:56If God brought them through that, he can bring me through mine.
09:03Your healing will become someone else's hope.
09:06Let us pray.
09:36Let us pray.
09:38Not a shallow joy, but a deep, God-shaped joy that comes from knowing I am loved, held, and never abandoned.
09:49Let the spark inside me grow again.
09:54Let the light return.
09:55And when you bring my smile back, may it reflect your goodness, your strength, and your faithfulness.
10:07I trust you with my healing.
10:12Amen.
10:14My beautiful friends, if you've forgotten how to smile, I want you to hear me.
10:21This is not the end of your story.
10:25Your smile is coming back.
10:28Your joy is coming back.
10:32Your strength is coming back.
10:35Your hope, well, that's coming back too.
10:40You've survived the dark, and God is guiding you gently toward the light again.
10:48When you smile again, it will not be pretend.
10:52It will not be forced.
10:55It will not be fake.
10:57It will be the smile of someone who has walked through fire and discovered that Jesus walked with them the entire way.
11:08God bless you, my friends.
11:13Bye-bye.
