00:27to help 4.2 million Haitians as the country's humanitarian crisis has reached alarming levels.

00:41where more than 200,000 households remain without service.
00:52Hello and welcome to From the South, from the headquarters of Telesur English in Havana, Cuba.
00:56My name is Pablo Micheliche. We begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:11Venezuela denounces the seashore of a second vessel loaded with Venezuelan oil in the Caribbean Sea,
01:17carried out by the United States as part of its escalating imperial aggressions in the region.
01:22The Venezuelan government has denounced that this military assault carried out by U.S. forces
01:28constitutes an act of international piracy, which will continue to be reported before all existing international bodies,
01:36reiterating that the state will defend with absolute determination Venezuela's sovereignty,
01:42its natural resources, and its national dignity. Amid these aggressions, the Venezuelan people have taken to the streets
01:49and must to reject any foreign claim over natural resources,
01:53and to support the principle of sovereignty over the country's strategic wealth.
01:58This crime occurs days after Washington arbitrarily announced a criminal blockade,
02:03a metal limiting Venezuela's capacity to trade it,
02:07and it forms part of a series of imperialist aggressions that seek to undermine Venezuela's right to peace.
02:15In this context, through a communique, the government stated that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
02:29categorically denounces and rejects the theft and hijacking of a new private vessel carrying Venezuelan oil,
02:36as well as the forced disappearance of its crew committed by military personnel of the United States and of America in international waters.
02:45This serious act of piracy constitutes a flagrant violation of the crime provided for in Article III of the 1988 Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Guards Against the Safety of Maritime Navigation,
02:59as well as a gross violation of Article II of the Charter of the United Nations,
03:04Article II of the Geneva Convention on the High Seas,
03:08and the declaration on principles of international law concerning friendly relations and cooperation among states,
03:15among other applicable norms of international law.
03:18The text continues,
03:20The colonialist model that the United States government seeks to impose through these types of practices will fail and be defeated by the Venezuelan people.
03:29Venezuela will continue to move forward with its economic growth,
03:33based on its 14 engines and the development of its hydrocarbon industry in an independent and sovereign manner.
03:41The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela affirms that these acts will not go unpunished and will take all appropriate action,
03:48including reporting them to the United Nations Security Council,
03:52all the multilateral organizations and the governments of the world.
03:56International law will prevail and those responsible for these acts will answer to justice and history for their criminal conduct.
04:06We continue. Venezuela, the state-owned oil and gas company, Vedevesa, reached its 2025 oil production goal.
04:17The announcement was shared by the country's Vice President and Minister of Hydrocarbons, David Rodríguez,
04:23who informed that within the framework of the Productive Independence Plan,
04:27the company workers have achieved the target of one million two thousand oil barrel sets for the present year.
04:35In this context, Rodriguez assured that the results allow planning to begin for the oil sector to increase its productive targets by 2026.
04:44The achievement constitutes another showcase of the workers' commitment to maintain Venezuela's oil sovereignty amid ongoing foreign threats that seek to steal and plunder the country's natural resources.
04:56Precisely while sharing the achievement, Rodriguez highlighted the commitment of oil workers, stating,
05:06the best Christmas gift our people dignified and free men and women can receive is the tireless effort of our oil workers who will face and defeat the harassment, hostility and imperial illegality that attacks and violates the human rights of Venezuelans.
05:25In this context, the Venezuelan Vice President assured that nothing and no one will stop us.
05:30Together with President Nicolás Maduro, we will continue on our victorious path of honor and national dignity.
05:36In other news, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino
05:48reframed the Bolivarian militia's commitment to defending sovereignty and national production amid foreign threats.
05:54During the military's Saturday exercise, a coastal defense initiative conducted by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces and the Bolivarian Militia within the framework of the large-scale Operation Independence 200,
06:09Padrino underscored the importance of training and strengthening the militia's capacity to protect the coastline against possible threats.
06:18Padrino López also asserted that Venezuela is in the process of deepening democracy and protecting the Constitution.
06:25Finally, he assured that as long as Caracas maintains an independentist project, it will face external pressure, which is why armed forces are raising their level of readiness.
06:37In this context, the Venezuelan Defense Minister also rejected the narrative that seeks to criminalize Venezuelan migrants abroad.
06:49This is not the false narrative that has been sought to be imposed in Latin America.
06:59Regarding migration, the idea of a migratory phenomenon driven by undesirable elements of society, nor the attempt to portray any Venezuelan, anywhere in the world, as a criminal.
07:14We categorically reject that from here, because we are who we are, and we know who we are, a decent people, a people with a deep soul, a people who want to work, who want to overcome difficulties, and who always want to defend their homeland.
07:34Y que quiere defender su patria siempre.
07:36Y que quiere defender su patria siempre.
07:41ρέ, por lo mejor.
07:42Ya está!
07:43Actually, this is the U.S. Government designation of the Government of Venezuela as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
07:48Through a post on his social networks, the Caribbean-Irland top diplomat denounced the action as arbitrary, fraudulent, unilateral and politically motivated.
07:56In this regard, Rodríguez added that the designation demonstrates once again the lack of credibility of these decisions and the manipulation of terrorism as a political weapon, while undermining international efforts to combat this scourge.
08:10To close, the foreign minister, under Scott, the U.S. government is only seeking to isolate the Bolivarian and Chavista revolution internationally, increase pressure, escalate aggression with unpredictable consequences for peace, security and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean.
08:29And now we have a short break coming up. But first, remember, you can join us on TikTok at Telesur English, where you will find news in different formats, news updates and much more. We will be right back. Stay with us.

09:34Now in Haiti, the humanitarian crisis has reached alarming levels, making the country the center of one of the worst emergencies in the world.
09:44In this regard, on Saturday, the United Nations issued an urgent call to the international community to raise $880 million to help 4.2 million Haitians who depend exclusively on external assistance to survive.
10:01The UN humanitarian humanitarian authorities in Haiti, Nicole Kouassi emphasized the need to protect the lives of citizens and restore their dignity in a context marked by increasing insecurity and armed-again violence,
10:15which has led to massive forced displacement and left more than half of the population in a state of food insecurity.
10:22On Saturday, the President of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, led the Cabinet meeting where her government team presented more than 100 management reports.
10:38The meeting held in the municipality of Lepaguare, as part of the closure of her administration, reviewed the implementation of public policies and programs developed during nearly four years of management.
10:52During the meeting, in addition to approving an extension of the state of emergency until January 26, 2026, the government transition process was also discussed.
11:02At the end of the meeting, some of her ministers held a detailed press conference.
11:09After being detected in 35 countries, the virus, known as superflu, H3A2, is now also reported in some Latin American countries.
11:25In this regard, health authorities are warning the population to wear masks while advancing vaccination campaigns.
11:31Let's see more in the following material.
11:36In Uruguay, health authorities have warned about the possible arrival of the virus known as superflu, H3N2, to the country.
11:45In this regard, the Ministry of Health detailed that it will bring forward the 2026 flu campaign to promote the administration of vaccines.
11:53According to the authorities, the campaign will prioritize pregnant women, children aged 6 months to 5 years, and elderly adults.
12:02So far, the disease has been detected in 35 countries, and it is expected to reach Montevideo, due to the influx of people during the winter holidays.
12:11On the other hand, in Ecuador, health authorities confirmed the first case of the H3N2 influenza variant detected in the southern part of the country.
12:24The Ministry of Health of Ecuador reported that they are keeping active the epidemiological surveillance systems and continuous monitoring of respiratory viruses nationwide.
12:34The health organization stated that the patient is under medical supervision, following the established protocols for this type of respiratory infection.
12:42In this regard, they urged the public to maintain preventive measures, such as frequent hand washing and wearing masks if respiratory symptoms appear.
12:51In addition, health authorities in Panama confirmed the first three cases of H3N2 influenza in the country.
13:06The patients' reports show mild respiratory infections, with symptoms beginning in November.
13:12In this regard, they emphasized the importance of maintaining active epidemiological surveillance, especially during the season of increased respiratory infections.
13:21Meanwhile, in Guatemala, the Ministry of Health confirmed the presence of the first case of H3N2 influenza a variant K in a 24-year-old woman.
13:33The Ministry announced a vaccination campaign to protect citizens from the variant.
13:38Additionally, they provided details on the progress of epidemiological surveillance in response to the spread of the variant in various countries.
13:46Additionally, Peru also confirmed the arrival of the virus strain, which has shown high transmissibility, but without an increase in its lethality.
13:56Meanwhile, Mexico's Ministry of Health also confirmed the presence of the virus in its territory at the beginning of December, as well as in Colombia, Chile, and Bolivia.
14:07The variant, which has been detected in nearly 35 countries around the world, stands out for its differences compared to other strains.
14:18According to experts, the virus may spread more than in previous years and cause more infections because the subclade K might be more capable of evading immunity from vaccines and previous infections.
14:30In this regard, Latin American governments are urging the population to avoid frequent travel, long stays in crowded places, and visits to tropical areas whenever possible.
14:43Additionally, they recommend consulting with doctors if symptoms such as high fevers, rashes, headaches, joint pain, chills, dry cough, among others commonly associated with the flu, appear.
14:57In the United States, a power outage has affected California, where more than 200,000 households remain without service.

15:10Number of cities in the state have been affected, but this major fault has been reported in San Francisco, where neighborhoods like Sunset, Richmond, and Golden Gate Park are still without electricity.
15:23The interruption has also impacted transportation services, gas stations, and overall mobility, prompting authorities to advise residents to stay at home.
15:32Pacific Gas and Electric Company assures that they are working to resolve the issue, but they acknowledge that outages are still being reported in new areas, and their restoration of service could take several hours.

16:22Russia calls the talks with U.S. envoys on Ukraine constructive.
16:26Russian Special Envoy Kiri Dmitriev described the talks held with U.S. envoys Steve Wickles and Jared Kushner on Sunday, former President Donald Trump, as constructive during their visit to Moscow.
16:41In the meetings, which included a session with President Vladimir Putin, the main topic of discussion was a peace proposal for Ukraine promoted by Washington.
16:50Russian presidential advisor Yuri Ushakov emphasized that Russia's military advances have positively influenced the dialogue, while Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov insisted that the Ukrainian government must agree to negotiations as his decision-making margin is shrinking due to the progress of Russian forces.
17:10The Russian government on Saturday has significantly intensified cooperation with African states, including in the field of national security.
17:24In a message shared by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to participants at the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum taking place in Egypt, President Putin assured that Russia supports African states in matters of national security and resolving food issues, as well as in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
17:47In this regard, Putin also highlighted that Moscow helps its African partners overcome the consequences of natural disasters and combat dangerous epidemic diseases.
17:59A conference held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, was part of the consistent development of relations established at the Russia-Africa summit.
18:08In the United Arab Emirates, flooding and partial road closure have been reported due to torrential rains.
18:20Local authorities reported flooding in residential areas, shopping centers and hotels.
18:39They completed the deployment of more than 300 vehicles and pumps to drain rainwater from the affected areas.
18:46Dubai's emergency teams continue to monitor the situation and are working to address any potential developments.
18:52They urged the public to remain vigilant and follow official communications.
19:03Despite ongoing hostilities along the Thai-Cambodian border, some locals in Thailand are already returning home to maintain their livelihoods.
19:12Since their resumption of confrontations between Thailand and Cambodia on December 7, approximately 700,000 people have left their homes, their livelihoods and their way of life behind.
19:25In recent days, hundreds of farming families in Buriram province have returned to their homes and farmed land, risking being caught in the crossfire.
19:36The governments of both countries, aware of the situation, declared that they will not cease hostilities and will continue border-skirmishes.
19:57We grow rubber trees and this was the best tapping season.
20:00But now we can't do it because of the fighting.
20:02The rubber's dried out.
20:03Even though conditions at the shelter are good, when I get back home, I know there won't be any income this year.
20:09I'll have to wait for next year.
20:15On December 8 and 9, we had about 2,700 people at this shelter, but now things have calmed somewhat and we're down to 600 or 700 people.
20:24They're very worried about their property at home, houses, cows, buffaloes, rubber plantations, sugar cane fields, and pigs.
20:33Many people are eager to return.
20:38Japanese peace activists rallied outside the National Diet building on Friday evening, demanding that Prime Minister Sanae Takahishi re-attract her recent provocative remarks about Taiwan.
20:50At a date meeting in early November, Takahishi stated that mainland China's use of force against Taiwan could constitute a survival-threatening situation for Japan.
21:01Takahishi also hinted at the possibility of armed intervention in the Taiwan Strait.
21:06At the demonstration, participants denounced that Takahishi's comments as incitement to war and call for her to retract them.
21:15If Takahishi does not retract her relevant remarks, China will absolutely not accept them.
21:24This will only further escalate tensions between Japan and China.
21:27Therefore, she must deeply reflect on her words and withdraw her erroneous statements.
21:32I believe that treating the matter in a perfunctory manner will not work.
21:35As she has said, if she doesn't make an official withdrawal, it will be unacceptable for China.
21:40I think any remarks inciting war are unacceptable.
21:46We don't want war with any country.
21:48Therefore, she must retract her remarks.
21:51I believe the administration led by Takahishi is a very dangerous government that incites war.
21:56We hope to truly build a peaceful country based on Article 9 of Japan's pacifist constitution.
22:02We cannot let our country head toward militarism.
22:05We must work together to speak out.
22:08We have come to the end of this news.
