00:00Venezuela continues to shelter affected people by the earthquakes in temporary camps with
00:05the special attention given to children and other vulnerable groups.
00:09Our correspondent Belen de los Santos will bring us more details.
00:19Hello studios, how are you?
00:21We have a different day here in Venezuela, 11 days since the two earthquakes and of course
00:26recovery efforts continue, solidarity efforts continue and we have been saying that this
00:32is also about the days that come after and how to just join the families affected, the
00:38kids affected because everyone needs to continue their life in very difficult circumstances.
00:45We are right now in Caracas in the Andres Bello transitory camp and with that in mind with
00:52the idea of giving especially the kids here, the affected kids that have lived through
00:58the twin earthquakes with every impact that that meant, giving them a good day, a positive
01:05day, a day to celebrate and enjoy going back to the activities that are putting a smile
01:12on their faces.
01:12So we have birthday chants right now.
01:16We have actors in costumes.
01:18We have Disney princesses and toy stories and superheroes running around the playground.
01:24This is a transitory camp.
01:25This is a place where many families that had structural damages affected in their buildings
01:32have come here to continue sleeping, having a place of shelter, having a place where they
01:40can have a meal and also just stay until they can solve the structural situation of their own
01:49building or finding another option of continuing the shelter situation.
01:56Well, in that, in this place, there are volunteers from different fields, actors, artists, people who have
02:05come to just give them an opportunity with their art and through their activities, offer the kids a nice day.
02:14So we have makeup stations and activities throughout the day.
02:17The kids are running around and laughing, and it's so important for them.
02:23We have also been talking to the families.
02:25Of course, the kids have suffered the impact of the earthquake also in the fear they have in
02:31and remembering what they felt like through those minutes and seeing them once again in a joyful
02:39situation is very important to start to recover and to start to come back to maybe a new normal
02:47for them, but one that is also filled with hope and solidarity.
02:51And the parents are so grateful for having the opportunity to share with their kids, with
02:58their families, again, a difficult situation, of course, but in this transitory camp, this Sunday,
03:04there is laughter, and that, in this context, it is worth a lot.
03:10So, kids, for now, this is everything from Caracas, once again, the Andrés Bello transitory camp.
03:17I go back to you now.
