00:00Welcome back. A recent official report has shown that the number of Mexicans living in poverty has
00:05decreased, representing a historic turning point in its social structure. During her morning press
00:10conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum informed that Mexico, together with Brazil, has been leading
00:16the growth of the middle class in Latin America since 2018. According to an official report,
00:22nearly 12 million Mexicans joined the so-called middle class during this period and that poverty
00:27based on income decreased from 35.5% to 21.7% of the population. The President also compared
00:36the recent results with those of the beginning of the century when poverty affected 55% of the
00:41population, while the so-called middle class represented barely 18%. The head of the state
00:48affirmed that this change shows that thanks to the policies implemented, more people now have their
00:53basic needs met and social vulnerability in the country has been reduced.
