00:04Venezuela responded promptly to the flooding in the capital city and other
00:08states. Our correspondent Madalene Garcia has more details.
00:13We are making a tour of the capital and we have stopped in one of the affected areas yesterday because
00:23of the intense rains
00:24following the passage of the tropical 40 wave that continues over this territory.
00:28I want to show you what is happening. They are collecting the last remnants of what is left of this
00:34rain,
00:34opening up, if you will, ending up collecting the soil, the mud.
00:52But since last night, the machines were deployed on the highway.
00:55It is called the Vallecoche Highway here in Venezuela, one of the main roads, and they managed to clear that
01:01main highway.
01:12Today, we were able to see the passage of the vehicles without any problem. In this area where there is
01:17sand, there are the blocks of Caracas to finish cleaning the areas, and that there is no problem for the
01:23passage of the vehicles, public transport and everyday life. We have seen this completely in the areas that were affected.
01:29We can tell you that the dynamics of the
01:31capital have returned without any problem after what happened yesterday and that we see these men and women working to
01:39be able to clean the city of what is left of it.
01:41We saw that in Venezuela, over the territory, the tropical 40 wave is passing and the national defense system is
01:49activated, that is, civil protection, the armed forces, the security agencies, attentive to any situation that may arise if it
01:57rains again in this country. But for the moment, the situation is calm, the streets are being cleaned, and this
02:03is what we can report to you to this day.
02:05We were also able to obtain information from the authorities that there are no reports of, for example, houses that
02:13have been severely affected. Those families that could be affected by these rains are being attended to, but there is
02:19no complex situation.
02:38Only yesterday, very punctually, in the middle of the night, the authorities immediately deployed 700 officials who began to make
02:46way to help the people who were left on the highway, due to the overflow of four miles.
02:50There were four rivers that all merged into the main road arteries. And today, on this tour, we can see
02:56a little of that normality in the face of these rains.
02:59Of course, attentive to what may happen because this tropical wave continues over the Venezuelan territory.
03:05This storm continues in the
