00:00The U.S. economy is in the red, according to the most recent data released by the country's Bureau of
00:06Labor Statistics.
00:07The unchecked imposition of tariffs and the military conflicts instigated by President Donald Trump
00:14are driving him further away from his campaign slogan of Make America Great Again.
00:19Our correspondent Henry Camelo reports from New York.
00:24Bombing boats in the Caribbean, attacking Venezuela, adopting its president,
00:30and unleashing a war against Iran that left thousands dead.
00:35These actions have brought the U.S. economy to the brink of collapse today
00:40and have positioned President Donald Trump as the greatest threat to the country's national security.
00:47The most recent report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that
00:53in the month of February alone, more than 190,000 jobs were lost nationwide.
01:02The unemployment rate rose to 4.0%, the highest in years, and inflation surpassed 3.2%.
01:11And all of this amidst labor stagnation.
01:15According to analysts, the instability of the Trump administration is directly responsible
01:22for the economic slowdown the United States is currently experiencing.
01:28The weaponization of tariffs, which, according to Trump, has had the effect of bringing factories
01:39back to the United States and creating employment.
01:43And according to Trump, his immigration policy of deporting undocumented and documented workers,
01:52workers who are here legally, but that political, according to Trump,
01:56is creating opportunities for the U.S. working class.
01:59That's not happening.
02:00How do you think the economy is doing under this administration?
02:05It's really bad, to be honest with you.
02:07A lot of people are very scared to spend their money.
02:10A lot of funds have been cut back in different programs, especially for the elderly.
02:15And they're really afraid to spend their money right now.
02:18So I think that it's going badly, very badly.
02:23I don't think it's doing well, you know?
02:26Prices are high, it's hard to live, everything is overpriced, renting an apartment, buying an apartment.
02:34It's hard to live, you know?
02:36Especially when gas prices are skyrocketing because of the war in Iran,
02:41started by Trump in the name of Americans' welfare.
02:45This situation certainly is affecting a lot of people.
02:49People see it at the pump.
02:51You know, there's a psychological factor for some reason people,
02:56I guess because it's clear when they go shopping, perhaps,
03:01it's harder to determine exactly how much they're paying.
03:05They see what the bill comes to.
03:08But it's hard to determine on the basis of what they've purchased.
03:11But when they go to the gasoline pump, they see exactly what the price of gasoline is.
03:16So psychologically, that's a major factor.
03:18And all the experts say that even when this conflict ends, whenever that happens,
03:26that the price of gasoline is not going to go back to where it was before the conflict in Iran.
03:33While President Trump continues to wage wars in the name of freedom here in the United States,
03:40more than 41 million people continue to live below the poverty line,
03:46with the only freedom they possess being the choice between eating or paying their rent.
03:53In a country where a large segment of the population no longer truly lives,
03:58they merely survive.
