00:00Venezuela's President Nicolás Maduro remembered the heroic feats of El Liberator Simón Bolívar
00:16to support his call for a new eco-socialist model that allowed the climate recovery of the planet.
00:22A recent official report has shown that the number of Mexicans living in poverty has decreased,
00:30representing a historic turning point in its social structure.
00:34The UN declares that more than 100,000 children and 37,000 pregnant and lab-tating women will
00:43suffer from acute malnutrition by October 2026. Hello and welcome to From the South,
00:54from the headquarters of TLSR English in Havana, Cuba. My name is Pablo Micheliche.
00:58We begin with the news. Stay with us. Venezuela's President Nicolás Maduro remembered the heroic
01:15feats of El Liberator Simón Bolívar to support his call for a new eco-socialist model that allowed the
01:20climate recovery of the planet. The President's call took place during the commemoration of the
01:26200th anniversary of the Chukisaca Decree, signed by Simón Bolívar, where he launched the book
01:32Eco-Socialism, the Chronicles of a Country in Bloom. During the event, Maduro affirmed that socialism was
01:39the only model that guaranteed a global balance by rejecting greed and war for natural resources.
01:45A Bolivarian head of state assured that the Bolivarian spirit also poses the uncontrolled
01:50ambition of the empires. He also reiterated that the defense of the country and its
01:55resources is based on the nation's constitution and laws, and that Venezuela is not a colony of anyone,
02:02and follows a sovereign path to development and peace.
02:05In an official letter, it is proposed and approved to name the Republic of Bolívar, and Bolívar said,
02:20I am very grateful, but I believe you should look for another name in that place in Upper Peru,
02:26full of the glory of the ancient Inca state, where the Aymara, Quechua, and Guarani people survived by
02:40resisting. The delegations deliberated and said, ask the Liberator if he would accept the honor of being
02:48called the Republic of Bolivia. And the Liberator said, I do not deserve such a glory, but I agree
03:02that it should be called the Republic of Bolivia. And so Bolivia was born as a republic dedicated to
03:09the greatest men in America.
03:15The Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro defined socialism as a model that rejects war for natural resources,
03:21and promote instead the solidarity of humankind in opposition to greed.
03:25a perfect balance, and that is the socialism, and only socialism can, because socialism is not based
03:33in inequality. Socialism rejects the war, the war for petroleum, for gold, for land. Socialism rejects
03:43totally the greed, the ambition, without measure, the monopolies. Socialism cultivates values that are
03:51deeply human and solid with solidarity, not as it was said in the past, dog-eat-dog.
04:05Many brothers of the men and the women, sisters of the women and the peoples, the brothers of the peoples,
04:13said to those who were ambitious and imperialists, no to war for petroleum, no to war and the blood for
04:23lands, and no to war for oil and diamonds.
04:35The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry accuses U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio of promoting an agenda of
04:41socialization to control the country's natural resources. In a statement,
04:45the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Hill said that Marco Rubio's press conference to take stock of
04:51his tenure has left him in a very bad light, revealing his deceitfulness, insecurity, and
04:57hatred for Latin America and the Caribbean. He also pointed out that, allied with the most corrupt
05:03Latin America of our right, his hate speech against Latin America and the Caribbean is a resounding
05:09political and moral failure. Rubio does not serve the interests of the U.S. people. He served the
05:15Miami mafias that finance his lobby.
05:21And in the United States, a group of Senate Judiciary rats sent a letter to Sherman Chuck
05:27Grizzly urging him to hold a hearing on the Trump administration's extrajudicial executions
05:33of unleashed drug traffickers via military strikes on boats at sea, which have killed at least
05:3995 people so far. In the mischief, the Senators alerted that these strikes are extrajudicial killings and
05:45shocking violations of fundamental principles of due process and the right to life under U.S. and
05:51international law. The administration claims that the people it is killing are guilty of crimes.
05:57Do not render these extrajudicial killings any less unlawful. In this context, the letter urged this
06:05committee must address the serious concern that these strikes may violate U.S. criminal laws and that
06:11the Department of Justice, attorneys who gave President Trump and Secretary Hessech legal cover to
06:17summarily execute suspected criminal, have violated their ethical obligations.
06:23Furthermore, the Democrats requested Chairman Grizzly to immediately convene a Senate Judiciary Committee
06:31hearing to ensure that those who authorize these extrajudicial killings are held to account.
06:37There is not, nor can there be any justification for state-sanctioned extrajudicial killings.
06:43In addition, the Senate Judiciary Democrats warned how, instead of intensifying drug trafficking efforts,
06:51President Trump has weakened them. Just recently, he pardoned Juan Orlando Hernandez, the former
06:57president of Honduras, who was convicted of helping to smuggle 400 tons of cocaine into the U.S.
07:03Finally, the letter stresses that the U.S. people want real solutions to crime and the drug epidemic,
07:09not extrajudicial killings committed in their name.
07:15The Venezuelan government delivered a donation of vehicles to the National Security Forces
07:25on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the Bolivarian National Police.
07:29The Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, delivered 300 vehicles to special forces
07:35to reinforce the fight against drug trafficking, guns, conspiracy and terrorism to guarantee public safety.
07:43Minister Diosdado Cabello highlighted the work of the institutions in protecting the people.
07:48He also highlighted the efforts of the Bolivarian government to continue strengthening security agencies,
07:54despite the coercive measures imposed by the United States.
08:06It is a complete set of equipment. It is being done with great sacrifice, great effort,
08:12great effort, where our sister Vice President, Delcy Rodriguez, has helped us enormously.
08:18Our brother President gave the instruction and provides the resources.
08:22And what we are doing is facilitating the fulfillment of the order.
08:26Today we feel satisfied, happy, and content, to provide our officials with new equipment, of the latest technology.
08:34And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at Teleshoot English.

08:59Welcome back.
09:00A recent official report has shown that the number of Mexicans living in poverty has decreased,
09:05representing a historic turning point in its social structure.
09:09During her morning press conference, President Claudia Sheinbun informed that Mexico, together with Brazil,
09:15has been leading the growth of the middle class in Latin America since 2018.
09:20According to an official report, nearly 12 million Mexicans joined the so-called middle class during this period
09:26and that poverty, based on income, decreased from 35.5% to 21.7% of the population.
09:34The President also compared the recent results with those of the beginning of the century,
09:39when poverty affected 55% of the population, while vaccination remains as its main preventive measure.
09:46While the Man and Health authorities prioritized immunization of people over 60 years old with chronic diseases,
09:52children aged 6 to 35 months, pregnant women, relief agencies and health sector personnel.
09:59The Pan American Health Organization issues several epidemiological errors
10:03due to increasing circulation of this variant in several countries.
10:07The United States Department of Justice released on December 19 the first batch of files of the case of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein
10:21under a new law signed up by President Donald Trump.
10:24Documents can be accessed through the Department of Justice official website,
10:28which appear on the Epstein Library in the following categories.
10:32Judicial records, DOJ's disclosures, including those under the Epstein Transparency Act.
10:37December 19 marked the deadline for DOJ to raise the banner regarding the files of Epstein,
10:44who died in 2019 while awaiting trial for sexual trafficking of minors.
10:49For more, President Donald Trump resisted the publication of the case files.
10:53Until last November, he reversed and supported the passage of the bill in Congress,
10:58which he then signed it to make it law.

11:28Welcome back. In Palestine, UN declares that more than 100,000 children aged six months to five years,
11:51and 37,000 pregnant and lactating women will suffer from acute malnutrition by October 2026.
11:58The organization alerted that almost 80% of the population in Gaza faces food insecurity
12:04and that the decline in living conditions in the enclave will be affected by health, epidemiological and climate crisis.
12:11Various experts warned that, but beyond the international organizations forecast,
12:16the consequences of poor nutrition could cause genetic deficiencies that could be transmitted for several generations.
12:23According to Philip Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the UNRWA,
12:27in order to put an end to the catastrophe, it is necessary to have the support of the international community,
12:33encourage the entry of large-scale supplies, and increase the number of humanitarian workers.
12:40Also in Palestine, hundreds of families are being affected by the intense rains and floods that are hitting the Gaza Strip.
12:52At least 17 people, including four children, have died due to the cold and rain caused by a polar storm
12:59that has been affecting Gaza since last week, causing homes to collapse and damaging dozens of tents.
13:05In this scenario, the weather conditions threaten the homes of residents of the Rashad al-Shaba Cultural Center
13:12in the Al-Rima neighborhood and other areas in Gaza City,
13:16due to deterioration of the building structures due to Israeli attacks.
13:21These circumstances are increasing the families' fears due to a lack of security and protection.
13:28On Friday, Israel launched a series of attacks against the city of Kanjunis and Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip,
13:38continuing violations of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 11, 2025.
13:44Israeli fighter jets bombed to eastern Kanjunis,
13:47and occupation forces opened fire with automatic weapons on western neighborhoods.
13:52In addition, Zionist warships opened fire intensively on coastal areas of Rafah and on fishing boats at sea.
13:59In this context, the Palestinian authorities warned that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is becoming increasingly precarious
14:05due to the Israeli blockade and weather conditions.
14:08According to the latest figures from the Gaza Health Ministry, the total number of people killed since the ceasefire began has risen to 395,
14:17with a further 1,088 people wounded and 634 bodies recovered from the rubble.
14:30On Friday, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon Unifield handed over a cleared minefield to the Lebanese Armed Forces, LAF,
14:39during a ceremony held near the Blue Line in Bleda, southeast Lebanon.
14:44Reaction constitutes the first handover of a cleared minefield since 2024 hostilities.
14:51The mining work involved the removal of explosives scattered over nearly 2,000 square meters
14:57and took place from August until the beginning of December 2025.
15:01During the process, 393 mines were destroyed in coordination with the LAF.
15:07Let's recall that Unifield Peacekeeping Forces resumed humanitarian mining in southern Lebanon last summer,
15:14at the request of the Lebanese government.
15:24Spanish farmers and livestock breeders protested against cuts to agricultural policy
15:29and the possible ratification of the trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur, which endangers their future.
15:36They denounced that the agreement allows the entry of South American products that do not comply with the same sanitary and environmental regulations,
15:44which creates unfair competition.
15:46The agreement, which has been negotiated for more than 25 years,
15:50envisions the creation of the largest free trade zone on the planet,
15:54allowing the exchange of European machinery and vehicles for South American raw materials such as meat, soybeans and rice.
16:01Likewise, the Union of Union organizations warned that if their demands are not met,
16:071,500 tractors will descend on the capital on February 11th to the mobilization in Madrid,
16:14following the massive protests held just 24 hours earlier in Brussels,
16:19where thousands of European farmers protested against the reduction of common agricultural policy funds.
16:25And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief.
