00:00I was reading something athletic and it had teams that should make deals and teams that

00:04should buy teams that should sell teams that should stay pat and I was a little surprised

00:10that it had the Celtics is selling and that um selling in the sense of dumping salary to get

00:16under the first apron yep and then uh adding some pieces and but putting themselves in position

00:23next year with Tatum back for a full season uh to compete what are your thoughts on that logic I

00:29I think there's a balance to it right like I think the last two games have probably brought us back to

00:34a little bit but when they in that 10 and 2 stretch I certainly bought in and said geez it feels like

00:38they're they got one more big man and you get Tatum back could they be competitive in what does

00:44still feel like a very wide open east and like you know it's a tough balance though you're I think

00:51right now you're if you could cut 12 million dollars you could get below the luxury tax and for all

00:59intents and purposes all that means is that you're you're getting a check at the end of the year

01:02instead of having to pay one I you want to leave open the possibility that if something were to

01:08happen you could potentially eliminate repeater penalties it would make it easier to compete

01:12further down the road but no fan cares about that right so for me it comes down to it is if you feel

01:17like you have an honest chance with Tatum eventually coming back I think you're more inclined to lean

01:23into being a buyer than a seller but maybe you can do both maybe you can move off some money

01:28well that was the idea is that you would move off of like a Simon's contract and that you would bring

01:33in less expensive pieces to kind of fill out the roster that's probably the best path to to check

01:40two boxes you you know again they I don't I think the the the message from ownership since Bill Chisholm

01:47took over was we're willing to pay like you know spend what you need to spend but I do think there's

01:52some benefit to just at least giving yourself the some additional flexibility after this season so I

01:57understand if they end up deciding to to take that path of trying to save some money uh but I do think

02:03they need another big it's I think it's been pretty obvious like as good as the small ball lineups have

02:07been it like defensively just they give a lot of points I don't think they could beat the Pistons

02:12for instance in a seven game series I think that's what you ultimately start thinking about is the

02:15playoff is just a different brand it's like slows down you just you definitely need more size

02:20physicality you start thinking about the teams you'll play look last night like Mitchell Robinson just

02:24all over the glass and they got Wemby and they got Luke Cornett and they're still struggling on the

02:29glass against those teams so I think the Celtics have done a good job patching it up with what

02:34they've got but I do hope they are at least somewhat aggressive in whether that is trimming money and

02:39just adding another big or you know kind of reshuffling the parts um but yeah there there's some

02:44things they can do to uh to to strengthen any sort of run without without necessarily being the big

02:50splash move that people always crave.
