00:09loss to the commanders on sunday so let's bring them in super bowl champ david tyree is back
00:15uh dt yeah sorry man uh eight losses in a row for our boys welcome back let's start with
00:23something positive biggest storyline on the positive side abdul carter bounce back game
00:28somebody woke a sleeping giant literally seven total tackles three tackles for a loss one sack
00:36two forced fumbles one fumble recovery and a partridge and a pear tree here's abdul carter
00:42on his monster day and then we're gonna uh break break it all down uh yeah it means a lot i feel
00:48like it was a statement but it would have been more you know satisfying forgot to win yeah for
00:52sure i definitely want to finish strong that's what i'm doing with these last couple weeks
00:55and so i'm doing everything in my possible to finish talking about finishing strong dt do you
00:59feel like what i said someone awoke a sleeping giant and abdul carter is going to play his best
01:06football for the remainder of the season you know i'm big on this and that's how are you going to
01:11respond right so you know what i love about this game it was the quintessential gift it's christmas
01:17season and he was a run stuffer he was a stocker stuffer he's stuffed every i mean like this coming
01:25off of thanksgiving who could really make dressing this was stove top abdul carter and when i listen
01:31to you share this stat line i'm still i'm still amazed at how many different ways he impacted the
01:36game in a dynamic way so i think it was a real taste and appetite of what the giants have looked for
01:42this was that statement game that i think a lot of a lot of fans would look for and it was a true
01:46truly the bigger step was immaturity right like you've had two two two two weeks of criticism that
01:53was due to your own poor uh professionalism and he finally showed up he showed up on the field and
02:00that's really where we want to see it off the field you know there's there's going to be growth
02:03opportunities but let's not make excuses and he showed up for the new york football giants kudos to the
02:07future hey i absolutely think this kid is the future and look i was high on this kid when he
02:13came when he got drafted third overall in the spring he looked unguardable unblockable in the
02:19summer he looked unblockable especially with that spin move it's taking him a little bit of time to
02:24get going he did lead the league in quick pressures after a while he just wasn't getting sacks the only
02:30thing i'm worried about and i was going back and forth with someone after the game is they were saying
02:35how the commanders are the commanders is a get right game for giants pass rushers that get taken
02:41in the within the first five picks we talked cave on timiddle how he's had some of his greatest game
02:47as a giant against the commanders and now we see abdul carter in his two games against the commanders
02:53the stat line that i just mentioned in the first game of the season he blocked a punt as well so we kind
02:59of put the commanders on notice that you're going to be seeing me twice a year but i think the next
03:04three games are very essential for his development and his growth because i would like to see him do
03:11it against somebody else uh jackson dart another first round uh draft pick another rookie we love
03:18to see this kid i mean i thought he slanged it slang it yesterday look great we talk about how the
03:24giants need to protect him from him and how he has to protect himself from himself but the nfl
03:31look like they stepped in and they're trying to protect him as well he was pulled into the medical
03:37tent to be tested for a concussion here's jackson dart on that and i want to get your thoughts i'm not
03:44really sure what the reason was i had to come out of the game um it was just a really it was weird i don't
03:53i don't understand it dt do you feel like the nfl is interjecting themselves in somebody else's
04:02business like unless he is really knocked out does he need to be going to the to the tent
04:07all the 50 of the games he's played he's been checked for uh he's been brought to that medical
04:13tent do you feel like the nfl was wrong for stopping the game and uh and forcing him to go get
04:18evaluated i think he's earned himself that he he earned himself it's kind of like the the boy that
04:25once you see a repeating pattern and at the end of the day there is an optical you know there's an
04:31optic right like you know you don't know what hit always is actually going to bring a player to that
04:36position but every now and then the accumulation of his and jackson dart is just in position not every
04:41and not every hit obviously hits the same and i'm talking about in relation to the results and how
04:45it impacts a player but he's earned himself that because of the amount of times that he actually
04:50has taken true hits and um and i'm talking about these these smacks and these these wwe flip butts up
04:59in the air getting getting knocked off by by nfl linebackers so i'm i can't say it i want to be a
05:06little bit more critical for the nfl but how could you not when you know this narrative and this
05:11disposition and we're we just looked at a number of quarterbacks go down it's bad for business bad
05:16for the product and you don't want to see that narrative actually come to fruition where the nfl
05:21is going to be charged with not protecting players you know we kind of put the crunch on them
05:25um so hey at least they can say they stepped in there and tried to do something to make sure this kid
05:29is not continuously putting himself in harm's way three games left to go i got three numbers for you
05:361,800 13 and four he's got a brown 1,800 four yards passing 13 touchdowns on the season
05:43with four interceptions do you sit him do you play him and do you think jackson dart has a chance to
05:49make the pro ball this year i'm going first of all i've been i've personally been heavy on sitting
05:56jackson dart ever since i saw jason james james woods i think the whole project i think the thought
06:01process the giants had at the start of the beginning of the season was the right the right
06:07game plan get a young talented quarterback in and allow him to actually sit and learn you have james
06:14winston in there he actually gave you a good flash and some some revival you know some excitement
06:19he's not just the media frenzy he's actually a solid nfl quarterback who can really produce for you
06:25and i think they need to sit jackson dart in light of what we've seen the positives we've seen in a
06:29positive we know that we actually have something special brewing the risks are too great at this
06:35point in light of what the giants are paying for they're playing for you're paying you're paying
06:40these backup quarterbacks put them out there give them a chance to continue their careers in national
06:44football league i think that's those front office types of decisions where you know is this just about
06:49us trying to get a win so kafka's in there you got shane in there hard decisions to make sit
06:54jackson dart behind down so he can be the future of the franchise yeah everyone's asking or
06:59everyone's wondering if he can take a a year leap next year like drake may put the boy on bubble
07:06wrap put him on ice for the rest of the season maybe maybe give him a little spot minutes let he and
07:11james kind of kind of uh kind of kind of split reps per se you got nothing to really lose in this
07:17situation i think it will i like i ask fans all the time would you rather jackson dart try and go
07:24to the pro bowl and get injured or would you rather have him healthy once ota start next season so he
07:32doesn't miss a beat in the spring one thing he's been able to do is put up the numbers that i've
07:38mentioned without a true number one wide receiver wandel robinson having a career year absolutely love
07:44it but in the off season they paid darius slayton three years 36 million uh with a nine with a 12 that
07:52guaranteed and a nine million dollar signing bonus darius slayton had another huge he had two drops
08:00this game he could have had a 35 yard touchdown to tie it in the third here's darius slayton on the
08:06drop and then let's break down what is holding this kid back from his greatness here slay the long
08:14one that kind of slipped through your hands what happened yeah yeah uh you know i tracked as best
08:19i could i tried to run it down i feel like i did run it down you know i got my hands on it and uh i
08:25just wasn't able to bring it in with the with the guy coming in with the contact um but you know
08:29had to try to find a way to make those as he said he has to try and find a way to make those um those
08:36plural again that was the second drop and and dt we love the kid great kid walter payton man of the
08:42year nominee almost every year uh proposed to get married we root for his story late round draft pick
08:50that's kind of been the most consistent giants wide receiver over the years kind of break down
08:57what is holding him back from taking that step to being a tier three tier two type receiver in this
09:05league i i hate to come to this conclusion but we're here right and i think we're probably in the
09:11same on the same lane he's just not that guy right and and and and i i wanted i'm always pro player so
09:19i'm so happy he but he he busting us on this deal right now because now time season veteran and a strong
09:29display of you know when i say like we can count on him to be this guy to show up but also to let
09:36you down and and and and that's not always a negative thing because when he's showing up he's
09:41making some big plays for new york giants he's been the most consistent um through the years but that's
09:45also not a feather in a cap when you look at the wide receiver room right at the end of the day that's
09:51actually a major disappointment if you're the most consistent guy which they've awarded him to because
09:54he's a high character guy and he's been a consistent high character guy in new york city environment
09:59hasn't let them down from a character perspective that says nothing about your inability to make
10:04the play because he's never been in position when they need him that's what the giants have
10:09they have lacked the big playmaker malik neighbors is where's your guy we got one year of glory we love
10:14you malik we can't wait to have you back but i hate to say it darren slayton you're not that guy 22
10:19million guaranteed they're gonna have to find a way to reconcile that and i i don't see it much
10:25in the future you you we've had years to to love who he is as a person let me down and i'm heartbroken
10:32at this point yeah i think he's a wide receiver that needs a malik neighbors in that lineup to kind
10:39of take the pressure off of him from having to be the guy but at the end of the day you're getting paid
10:44like that man like joe shane is taking a lot of heat for for signing him to that extension but at
10:50the time there wasn't much on the market in the in the off season last this past off season when it
10:56came to bringing in a wide receiver to pair up with your guy we knew malik neighbors was the guy but
11:03yeah it's just it's been unfortunate because i mean dude's a consummate pro great guy in the locker
11:08room the longest tenured giant but i feel like that moment and you can see his reaction when he
11:14got up it was just that moment that was like ah ah come on slake we need you to have that one uh last
11:21but not least last but not least you know giants dropped eight in a row joe shane has his seat gotten
11:28hotter
11:29you know i mean how much hotter could it get i think you'd be freaking i think we'd be over here
11:36melting glass if this thing was any hot you know and that's what now now me saying that i really
11:42believe at the end of the day it's the comprehensive decisions i mean like it only gets worse because
11:47we're talking about joe shane awarded 36 million dollar contract i mean like nothing has worked out
11:53accordingly they did they were good solid decisions on paper but over time this has
11:58evaluated to be something that has just really blown up in his face and even like i said even
12:05it feels like mike kafka is falling victim to some of that i mean like no one is able to be able to
12:11be firm about what they believe in and actually have it work out over time now everything's not going
12:16to work out but how how can we over this sample size what kind of redemption is available for joe shane
12:24over time like i said these players have not worked out over time they haven't taken consistent leaps
12:31forward and aside from brian burns i'm a big brian like you know what when you get a player and he is
12:37who you thought he was and he performs at the level consistently that that's that's been fantastic
12:43can't say that for cave on can't say that for these marquee pillar decisions that are supposed
12:47to really increase and add value to your roster it's gonna be tough one i think it's burning hot
12:54yeah i feel bad for brian burns man i honestly feel bad because he should be he should be a national
13:00household name when it comes to the nfl he should be doing chunky soup commercials but he hasn't even
13:06sniffed the playoffs in his career and he's having a career year he hasn't had more than 12 and a
13:12have sacks on a year and we were talking about is he gonna get to 20 at one point and again i think
13:18he should be a national name the whole spider-man thing he should be doing movies by now you're in
13:24new york city you're you're you're the jpp you're the oc you're the justin tuck but you don't have
13:30the wins behind you to really put you on the forefront and really experience the glory that comes
13:36with the high level of production of playing for the new york football giants so it's unfortunate to
13:43him but three games three games left dt three left uh finish us off what would you you've you've worked
13:50in player personnel what would you be saying to the players in the locker room right now with three
13:55games left to close this season off yeah what do you want from the rest of your career right like you
14:01know i think at the end of the day you actually have to really remind the guy that he's playing for
14:05the name on the back of his jersey he's playing for his for for his but at the end of the day you're
14:09also on dish you're on audition so if you can't have enough personal pride to position yourself to
14:17give yourself the next best opportunity by stepping on that practice field every single day and take
14:22and position yourself for the unique opportunity that is the rest of this season then we shouldn't
14:30be surprised why we are two and two and twelve two and thirteen and and i'm giving it to it with
14:37some with some funk and some fire why because you know what these are the opportunities of a lifetime
14:41and a lifetime of opportunity and to dismiss it is is an egregious egregious failure to own the privilege
14:49of playing at the highest level so these guys got to find a way to bring it our wins difficult to come by
14:54the national football league absolutely they're not going to come easy but i do believe that there's
15:00a better brand of football to be playing win lose or draw for this for the talent level that is
15:06available these guys should be in better position to make more impact all right that's a wrap on this
