00:00Clint, this is, first of all, I would, I'm about tired of Notre Dame and their crying.
00:11Like, listen, I got it.
00:13Like, even with Texas, even I'm sure Tyler, who can't stand them, you understand what Sark was doing.
00:23You get it?
00:24Like, all right, man, he's trying to campaign.
00:27But I don't like, maybe I'm wrong.
00:28Have you heard, I haven't heard from Sark now that they clearly understand they're not getting in.
00:33I did see some quote him being so thankful about, you know, their cheeses, it's bull, whatever it is the Longhorns are playing in recently.
00:41I don't know if that was accurate, real fake.
00:43I saw it on Twitter.
00:45The citrus bull that they're playing.
00:47He said he's, they're going to, they're going to stick to their commitments to Ohio State and Michigan over the next couple of years.
00:57But then they'll look at it.
00:58But beyond that, they're going to, they're going to, they're going to, they're going to take a hard look at it.
01:01Sure, but, but it had.
01:02And he said he woke up feeling the cheesiest coach.
01:05But he hadn't, he hadn't made a tour and gone off the way that Notre Dame is.
01:10Notre Dame is going off and crying over and over now.
01:13It's getting annoying.
01:15Yeah, I get it.
01:16Like, I think Sean Pendergast even wants them to stop with all the crime.
01:20But Clint, the other thing that comes into effect next year is they have made an agreement with the college football playoff that if they are at any way ranked in the top 12, that is essentially as if they've won a conference championship and they automatically get a spot in the college football playoff.
01:46Wow, dude.
01:47So, as an independent, when most people were saying, hey, now this may really push the pressure for Notre Dame to get into a conference like it does.
01:56No.
01:56It never was.
01:58They're going to, they're going to find a way to keep all that money themselves.
02:00All that contract and that money from NBC, they get to themselves.
02:04But now, Clint, even better, if they ever end up in the top 12 ever, they will, they will get an automatic berth to the college football playoff, which is.
02:16Yeah, I'm glad you brought this up because I am not, I'll be honest, I'll be transparent.
02:20I am not as up on, like, all the reasons why Notre Dame seems to be dealt with in such a different fashion.
02:33They're the strongest independent, right?
02:35Well, I mean, there's two of them.
02:36It's them and who?
02:37UConn?
02:38I mean, UMass or something.
02:40There's two of them.
02:40Is Navy?
02:41Maybe it is.
02:42Whoever it may be.
02:43There's not, I mean, that's not a, that's not a reason.
02:46I mean, like, I just, maybe I'm not, I don't understand and I'm not aware of some, some, some component here that, that just changes the, the, the calculus, as Nick Casario would say.
03:00But, like, I don't understand why, why they're, they're held in such regard.
03:06I don't, like, to me, when I heard the report that they were signing an agreement.
03:17That would give them an automatic bid to the college football playoffs if they're ranked in the top 12 in the final poll.
03:24So, you don't have to deal with the same things that, that Miami and Alabama and Texas and, and Michigan and, you know, other teams deal with if they're in, say, 12, 10 through 14.
03:35Like, they don't get to compare your strength of schedule or your head-to-heads or your losses because you're Notre Dame?
03:42Notre Dame.
03:42Like, it doesn't, it doesn't compute for me.
03:46I mean, I understand the value and the appeal and, and, and who Notre Dame is.
03:51I don't think, I don't think the value of Notre Dame and the appeal of Notre Dame today is what it was even 10 years ago.
03:57Damn sure not 20 years ago.
03:59Well, I don't know.
04:00Well, that should, I, I wouldn't think it is.
04:01But we keep seeing things happen to make it seem like they think they have it now.
04:06Well, yeah, they wouldn't sign, they wouldn't sign this kind of deal, I guess, if it wasn't.
04:09That's what I'm saying.
04:10I guess I'm, I'm completely, but when I hear something like that, I'm like, the hell are you talking about?
04:14I don't know why, like, I was saying this to you guys, I don't, me and Tyler went back and forth in our pre-show meeting, like, hell, if I'm Alabama, hell, let me, let, let me, let me, let me, let me, let me dip out.
04:27Like, I'm as powerful a program as Notre Dame, let me be an independent, put my schedule the way I want to, and, and, and, and agree to this thing.
04:36That's the big thing.
04:37The run they made in the college football playoff last year, you know, Georgia had to share that money with the SEC.
04:43Uh, Ohio State had to share that money with the Big Ten.
04:46No, they got to keep it all.
04:47Yeah.
04:48And I, I'm just like, that, that's what they're gonna, they're gonna fool around.
04:52Like, when Texas bounced and went to the, to the SEC, I'm surprised they didn't look at, thinking about, well, here, let's, let's just pull a Notre Dame.
05:00Well, but, but, but, like, and I agree with you, Ron.
05:02I mean, it, it, I agree with you.
05:03I don't know if anybody has the cojones or the ability to do it, but it, but it would, it would make sense.
05:08Like, but, but even the deal that, that was signed, like, when I heard the deal, I'm like, is, are you serious?
05:12Are you joking?
05:13And they're like, no, no, no, I'm serious.
05:15I'm thinking, I'm thinking, the deal doesn't even make sense.
05:17Like, if you're gonna sign that deal with Notre Dame, if, if, if the, if you crunch the numbers and, and you have all the data and all the information, and Notre Dame as an independent is that valuable for you to make exceptions for, the exception you make is, hey, if you're in the top six, you get an automatic bid.
05:36Like, you, you don't get, you don't get to completely eliminate us comparing your strength to schedule.
05:43You don't get to completely eliminate the head-to-head games that you have played.
05:49And what they would have to do is the committee would just have to keep them up at the top.
05:54Like, if they, if they, like.
05:55Yeah, you could manipulate it, but why would you want that?
05:58I mean, at the end of the day, it's like, hey, if you're 10 or 11 or 12 and, and you're at risk of, of not getting the playoffs like you were this year, we're not going to guarantee your spot.
06:08I mean, we're going to be able to, we're going to, we're going to check your schedule.
06:10We're going to check the head-to-heads.
06:12We're going to, we're going to check the common opponents.
06:14We're, we're, I mean, we're, we're going to check all of those things.
06:16Like to eliminate that part of it seems like a, a huge stretch beyond like, like Georgia and, and A&M and Texas tech and, and Oregon.
06:27Like those teams won their way into, Hey, it don't matter if we lose or not at the end of the year, because we're top five, we're top six.
06:32Hey, we're in baby.
06:33We have no worries.
06:34Like the, when you're in a large team and you're, yep.
06:37Like seven, eight, I mean like nine, 10, 11, 12 didn't earn that right.
06:40So we're on the bubble.
06:41So what would have happened this year is Miami or Alabama would have had to leave because Notre Dame in the, uh, and would have been guaranteed that would have been guaranteed a spot.
06:54Yeah.
06:55Yeah.
06:55I just don't.
06:56I mean, I, I, I'd be okay.
06:58I would be, I would be okay if Notre Dame was in and one of those two schools were out, I don't give a rip, but to, but to give one of them a free pass to not be evaluated.
07:04Because what, what, what would have happened, what would have happened this year is, all right, my Notre Dame is in, is at 11.
07:11We're not going to talk about them.
07:12They're not going to drop that far down.
07:14I mean, I'm not going to talk.
07:15So it's just between Alabama and, and, and Miami.
07:20Like that, that's what would have been the conversation, even though Miami has beaten Notre Dame.
07:25I mean, college football is going to be all right with or without Notre Dame.
