00:00It's a Mokarum Injury Lawyers Reaction Monday on Sports Radio 6-10, live from the Mokarum
00:07Injury Lawyers studios, here's Payne and Tendergast.
00:117-0-6 on the text page.
00:13Can we give Tommy Togiai his flowers?
00:15Sir, we did.
00:16I know you just texted that during the break.
00:18We did.
00:18We acknowledged him, but we'll do it again.
00:20We'll acknowledge him one more time.
00:21One for each of his quarterback hits.
00:23Acknowledge me.
00:25Maybe, you know what, I hijacked the acknowledge me for Tommy Togiai and started just wanting
00:29I started explaining how Mario Edwards wasn't actually offsides or didn't false start on
00:36that play.
00:36So, yeah, he deserves the second acknowledgement.
00:39Okay, yeah.
00:41Because I made it about the officials more than Tommy Togiai.
00:43We got off track.
00:44Yeah.
00:45Hey, I'll ask you the question that is the big question on TV right now, Seth.
00:50Is the Chiefs dynasty dead?
00:52Is it dead?
00:53It's dead?
00:53Dead as it can be.
00:54Dead as a doornail.
00:55Yeah.
00:56Yeah.
00:56Okay.
00:56I don't know.
00:58No.
00:59Nobody's ever dead in the NFL.
01:00No, and it's not dead.
01:02It's just, it's way too similar to also remember the two life cycles that Tom Brady had.
01:08And it's really three life cycles because they had the first three Super Bowl championships
01:13and then they had a dark period where all they were doing was going to Super Bowls, but
01:17losing them.
01:18Losing them to Eli Manning of all people.
01:20Yeah.
01:21And they started winning the Super Bowls again.
01:22But really, I think Pat Mahomes is going to have a long career.
01:26The interesting thing will be how much longer does Andy Reid coach.
01:30I think Pat Mahomes is likely to finish his career in Kansas City.
01:33Oh, yeah.
01:34But with a different coach than Andy Reid.
01:35Yeah.
01:36And he's shown very much his own, like Pat Mahomes has shown that he cannot be Superman
01:42and do it all on his own.
01:43As he gets older, it's going to get harder and harder to do.
01:45Yep.
01:46And they're going to have to make some changes.
01:48Yep.
01:48They're definitely on the down cycle.
01:49If they don't, I see Chiefs fans this morning asking people, asking about tanking.
01:54How does it work?
01:55I heard about this tanking thing.
02:00They were like, hey, hey, what about this tanking thing?
02:03Yeah.
02:03Yeah.
02:04Yeah.
02:04He goes, Jenkins.
02:05Jenkins, give me a report on tanking.
02:06Give me a, exactly.
02:09Just ask ChatGPT about it.
02:11Just give me something.
02:12Yeah.
02:12They're scheduled the rest of the way.
02:15It's interesting.
02:15They're screwed.
02:16They host the Chargers next weekend.
02:20Then they're at Tennessee.
02:22Then they host the Broncos.
02:24And then they're at Vegas.
02:26So they've got three division games in their last four games.
02:29But they can't win the division now.
02:31The Broncos haven't clinched the division because the Chargers are still within striking distance.
02:35But for the first time in the Mahomes-Reed era, they are mathematically,
02:40they're mathematically eliminated from the division.
02:43And it's two weeks before Christmas.
02:45Listen, Sean, statistics are statistics, and they never lie.
02:49Yesterday, Shadur Sanders was a much better quarterback than Pat Mahomes.
02:52And even he couldn't beat the Tennessee Titans.
02:55That's true.
02:56Cam Ward is on a winning streak.
02:58And to think that somehow the Chiefs are going to march into Nashville, or is it vice versa?
03:03It's in Tennessee, yeah.
03:04Oh, they're going to march into the Music City?
03:07Thunderdome, yeah.
03:08And somehow play better than Shadur Sanders did versus the Titans?
03:11I think not.
03:12But this will be fun.
03:14Like, tonight's Monday night game has me way more amped because the Texans are 8-5 right now.
03:20We're big Philadelphia Eagle fans tonight.
03:23This is fun, man.
03:24Scoreboard watching season.
03:25I like it.
03:26This is.
03:26The much beleaguered and embattled Philadelphia Eagles, their backs against the wall.
03:32Yes.
03:33Can they take care of business for the Texans?
03:35That's right.
03:36That's right.
03:36Yeah, we're big Jalen Hurts fans tonight.
03:38Let's talk about a different style of play.
03:41The Eagles, you look at the red zone scoring percentage, and it's everybody.
03:46And then way, way, way up at the top, 75% touchdown scoring percentage in the red zone, the Eagles.
03:53If they get down to the red zone, you're screwed.
03:55It's just a matter of just getting down there that sometimes eludes them.
03:58Someone saying on the text page, I need more, this is on the heels of us playing, a bunch
04:02of highlights before, one of which was a Woody Marks touchdown catch.
04:05I need more Woody Marks on pass routes.
04:08That'd be perfect against all these blitzes.
04:10That's interesting.
04:11Could you have taken advantage of the aggressiveness of the Chiefs by maybe using Woody Marks more
04:16in the screen game last night or something like that?
04:18Yeah, it's a double-edged sword because you'd like to also have Woody Marks available to you
04:23as a pass protector.
04:24But yeah, I don't think, certainly not the offense's best night in terms of handling anything.
04:31And I'm all for more Woody Marks, yes.
04:35What's your, I mean, they're obviously not going to be a great offense by the end of the
04:40year.
04:40Like, they're just, they just won't.
04:42What's your, what's your vibe?
04:44What's your optimism level that this can get to be an offense that can coexist with this
04:49defense at a playoff level?
04:51Like, you can win playoff games with this offense.
04:53Exist, yeah.
04:54I mean, it's, can CJ be as good as Brad Johnson back in the early 2000s?
05:00I don't know.
05:01I don't know.
05:02They look completely lost.
05:03They look like they don't have answers when they go against a team that's, that's figured
05:06out against them.
05:08And when you go through the playoffs, you're going to, you're going to run into that at
05:12least a couple times.
05:13Yep.
05:13So right now my optimism level isn't high.
05:15It's going to, it's going to have to be with not just huge plays by the defense, but with
05:20scoop and score and pick sixes and things like that.
05:22What's the biggest problem?
05:24The biggest problem is that really they genuinely can't hold up physically on the offensive line.
05:31Yeah.
05:31And they do a lot, they, they make up for it with the quarterback getting rid of the
05:37ball quickly, whether it's Davis Mills or CJ Stroud.
05:40But when you face smart defenses, and I think the Chiefs, despite, despite the Chiefs not
05:45being as the same as they typically are, they're a smart defense.
05:48And if you take away those quick options early in the down, the, they're not that good of
05:55an offensive line yet.
05:56They're just, they're, they're, they're getting there and they're better than they were.
06:01But if CJ really has to hold onto the ball, if they really need to anchor down and protect,
06:08I just don't think they can trust them to do it.
06:10Yeah.
06:11Um, someone's asking on the text page, can you tell me the last time Mahomes was held
06:15to 10 points or less?
06:16Seems rare.
06:17It is, it is beyond rare.
06:20It had never, that's the lowest output of his career.
06:24Patrick Mahomes.
06:24He's never scored more than, fewer than 10 points or fewer than 11 points.
06:28That was the few, they said on the broadcast at the end of the night last night, they said
06:31that's the fewest amount of points he's ever scored in an NFL game.
06:34Wow.
06:35Yep.
06:36That's pretty astounding.
06:37It was really bad.
06:37It was the worst quarterback rating he's ever had.
06:39It was the worst expected points per play he's ever had.
06:43Um, it was a, they, it was a career low in a lot of ways for Pat.
06:47And now you're looking at man twice in the last post season, the last Superbowl.
06:53And then in this regular season, now he's had a couple of the worst games he's ever played.
06:57Yeah.
06:58So you talk about, is it, is the chiefs dynasty over?
07:00Certainly the dynasty, their golden era is over and whatever comes out next year will be a second
07:08phase of the chiefs.
07:09Uh, but this is, that was, I mean, the face in a, when Mahomes had faced the number one
07:14scoring defense late in the season previously, he was five and Oh, yep.
07:19Um, this was exactly the opposite of that, obviously.
07:22Yeah.
07:23It's you, you invoke the Astros a little earlier in the show.
07:26And we've kind of been saying that for the last few years is that there's been a lot of
07:30parallels with the chiefs and the Astros and their respective sports, you know, the same
07:35way, the same way the chiefs made the AFC title game literally every year for like six
07:41six or seven years, the Astros are almost simultaneously making the ALCS every year.
07:47Um, you know, the, the active both multiple championships, both multiple losses in the
07:53championship round, the parallels are striking up to, and including, um, this year being the
07:59year that it looks like there's a lot of reevaluation that needs to go on or not a total
08:05rebuild, but a, what do we say a reset maybe, uh, then I think that's, I don't now look,
08:11I think the chiefs, the chiefs ultimately probably have the, the, the, the lesser retooling to
08:17do than the Astros, the Astros are, the Astros are retooling their starting rotation in a
08:22way where it feels a lot like the way the Texans retooled the offensive line this year.
08:26Like, yeah, it's journeyman and that journeyman.
08:28And we put him next to this other guy that we've had here for a while.
08:31And then let's see what we got here.
08:32This, uh, last night it was, I was starting to get nervous as I was just, I was simply putting
08:37out my home stats, but I started at the end of the third quarter, uh, into the fourth
08:42quarter when my homes was 12 for 26, for 131 yards, they'd scored 10 points up to that
08:48point.
08:49Obviously that was the most they would score the offense.
08:51The Texans offense had one first down in that half before, before that, that, uh, the drive
08:59where the, where the, uh, they got close again, the chiefs were starting to drive a little bit.
09:05Um, and yeah, I still had people, I had tell somebody telling me that the Texans defense was
09:10pooping the bed because they'd allowed that one long drive.
09:12I just know, do you know how hard it is when your offense goes four straight three and outs
09:18and then a six and out, uh, do you know how hard it is to withstand that when you do have
09:23Pat Mahomes and a bunch of speedy receivers and Travis Kelsey on the other side of the ball
09:27and they still made it though.
09:30That's a, like, you cannot lose track of this.
09:32The Texans offense provided nothing for the defense in the second half and they still, and
09:38they, and the defense still gave you the worst Mahomes performance in the history of Mahomes
09:43performances.
09:44Okay.
09:45Reggie at a tool is listening, texted in correction, worst performance at home.
09:50So it's the least amount of points he scored in Arrowhead.
09:53He had a three point outing at Tennessee in 2021 and a nine point at Denver in 2023.
09:58It's still the third lowest overall.
10:01It's no, no, no.
10:01And as far as all the Cuba, the, the, the, the passer rating and everything else.
10:05Yeah.
10:05That was the worst at home or away or in a neutral, uh, Superbowl location.
10:10First game ever with no touchdowns, multiple interceptions and less than 50% passing.
10:14This was a dynamite defensive performance last night, Seth antibodies to you antibodies to
10:20you as well.
10:21Thank you very much.
10:22Uh, we are out of time.
10:23We will hand things over to John Harris and Mark Vandermeer for what I'm sure will be a
10:27jubilant Texans Monday on Texans radio.
10:29We've got you covered throughout the day, obviously 10 AM in the loop, 2 PM, the drive with Sterner
10:34and Hughley.
10:35And then obviously Monday night football tonight, all eyes on that Philly, uh, Philly
10:39against the, uh, chargers.
