00:00As the Texans get ready, get moving towards the postseason,
00:05the Astros want to return to the postseason after missing after seven straight years.
00:12Seven f***ing times!
00:13There you go, seven times in the ALCS.
00:16They missed the playoffs last year and looking to get back there.
00:21And they've got some things they've got to juggle.
00:23And Joe Espada, as they are all meeting there, he was on MLB Network yesterday.
00:31And I found it interesting.
00:32He started to kind of talk about a little bit of the spots and guys playing in certain positions.
00:38And he spoke about his veteran, the heart and soul of this team, Jose Altuve,
00:43and talked about potentially what things could look like with him in the field.
00:48You know what?
00:48I like the fact that he is open to helping to do whatever it takes to help the team.
00:53But I think second base is his prime position.
00:55I think we're going to see him play there more this season.
00:58You know, giving us some starts in left field, that's something that I will sit down and talk to him about that.
01:03But right now, I need to keep our guys healthy.
01:06I think a lot of these players can play multiple positions.
01:08Paredes can play some second, third, and first base.
01:11Allows me to keep Correa and Walker healthy.
01:14The DH spot, I'm also going to use that spot to keep those guys off their feet some.
01:18So, you know, I got some really good players that once they're healthy, it's a really good team too.
01:22So, it's going to be a really tough team to beat.
01:24All right, Clint.
01:26It sounds like Jose Altuve is going to be playing a lot of second base this year.
01:32Especially also with the news that he wants Jordan Alvarez to play a lot of DH just to, you know,
01:40for health issues to conserve his health.
01:42But it looks like maybe the ship has not completely sailed, but it looks like he's going to be playing second base.
01:52And that left field thing is potentially something we're not going to see as much,
01:56which we all thought was a little interesting coming into last season.
02:01Like I said from jump, it's the silliest stuff I've ever heard in my life.
02:05For multiple reasons.
02:06Gene's going to move a guy to the outfield.
02:07He ain't played no damn outfield and played major league baseball.
02:10Tony Gwynn came in here and tried to say it.
02:12It didn't sound like he believed it in his face.
02:14Come on, man.
02:14And then on top of that, all these advanced stats that tell you about Altuve at second base
02:20and he can't or can't do this, man, to hell with all that.
02:22Put that man at second base and let him do his thing.
02:25Now, if you've got a surplus of infielders, then you can figure out what to do with Paredes.
02:33You can figure out what to do with Carlos Correa and all the extra players you've got.
02:39But putting Altuve in the outfield is plum-ass silly, man.
02:44It's a waste of time.
02:45Yeah, and I think he should play, obviously, second base.
02:51The crazy thing is now that you don't have Dubon, you know what I mean?
02:58Now that you don't have Dubon to play in the outfield, that is a really good outfielder.
03:02Now, all of a sudden, it's going to be, well, we're going to be moving back to second base.
03:06I mean, it just makes them look plum-ass silly for what they were trying to do with him.
03:09I'll be honest, Clint, I could be dead wrong, and I said this to Tyler before the show.
03:17That second base thing always felt like a Dana Brown thing to me.
03:21Did it?
03:21It always felt like a Dana Brown thing to try to – I think he really wanted his defense out of there.
03:28Which, listen, I'm not going to say it's insane to say that, but, you know, it didn't –
03:35to me, it didn't feel like, all right, man, hey, go play this left field position in your mid to late 30s
03:40that you've never really played before while you've been in the big leagues.
03:44Like, I – it didn't seem like it was going to be something that worked.
03:48And just listen to Joe Espada.
03:50It sounds like he's like, this is just more natural position, guys.
03:53Let's – we're going to keep him there.
03:55We're going to do that because, I mean, you essentially – I mean, you thought he was bad at second base.
04:02I mean, like you were crossing your fingers and hoping that he – you know,
04:07the ball didn't get hit his way at times over there when he's out in the outfield.
04:11So, I'm not saying we won't see him play in the outfield at all, but, yeah, this to me makes more sense.
04:20Yeah, it makes perfect sense.
04:21Put him back at second base, let him play.
04:23If he needs a rest, hit him at DH.
04:25And you've got plenty of people.
04:28And with all the infielders they had last year, they found a way to go get more of them.
04:32I mean, it's so – I mean, hell, they had to cut several guys loose.
04:36And so, I mean, they'll be – yeah, he don't need to be in the outfield.
04:40I mean, you take a popcorn arm and a guy that's never played left field
04:43and throw him out there at 30 – how old is he?
04:4530 – he's got to be hitting 35, 36, I believe.
04:49He's plum-ass silly.
04:49I'm just glad I'm not one of them cats around the city that was trying to act like it wasn't no big deal
04:53and convince folks that it made sense.
04:55Yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:56He's going to be the second baseman.
04:59And maybe Jordan gets some games in the outfield and maybe DH is there a little bit.
05:06No, there's another one we need to talk about.
05:08Jordan.
05:08I mean, look, Jordan ain't rolling his ankle or breaking his hand because he's playing left field.
05:15Hate to break it to everybody.
05:16He might, though.
05:16It's that swinging a bat and running bases that's hurting Jordan Alvarez.
05:21This might be something we're just going to have to live with.
05:24I'm going to add to it.
05:25I mean, the only time he's gone down in the outfield is when he, for whatever reason,
05:28he decided to run headfirst into Pena and, hell, he was out for a game and back out there.
05:33It's not ideal.
05:34And then the Mets people drove him off the back of that cart.
05:38Yeah.
05:39Yeah.
05:40Through that thing in high gear.
05:42That scared me more than a damn collision.
05:44You need to put damn seatbelts on these injury carts.
05:48I'm telling you, man.
05:49Play that man in left field, man.
05:51Nah, man.
05:51They've already said it.
05:52DH, baby.
05:53Every year.
05:54It's stupid.
05:55Just the knees alone.
05:57Hey.
05:58Just play.
05:58Just play.
05:59Let's just minimize it, baby.
06:00Let's minimize it.
06:01Left field is not hurting that guy.
06:02The outfield is not hurting that guy.
06:04I don't know.
06:04Well, what is hurting him?
06:07Sliding across.
06:07Whoever painted home plate with that slick crap and blew his ankle up.
06:11Yeah.
06:11Or swinging a bat and breaking his hand.
06:13That's it.
06:14So we're not going to let him hit?
06:16Like, what I want to say.
06:17What I would say to that is.
06:18Play baseball, man.
06:18Play.
06:19Would you admit that he seems to be injury prone?
06:25Yeah.
06:25No, no.
06:25No question he's injury prone.
06:26And all I would say is, if he's getting hurt, as you're right, swinging the bat, and he's
06:32getting hurt, running the bases, I think adding him running in the outfield would maybe potentially
06:39increase the injury.
06:41That was a no-brainer for me.
06:42No, and I don't think it will.
06:43It's not a usage problem.
06:46I don't understand.
06:47It's a usage problem.
06:48What's he going to do in left field?
06:49What is he going to do in left field that's going to do?
06:51I just think you increase the odds if he gets hurt swinging back.
06:56I need to add sliding to the list of the things he gets hurt doing.
06:59He doesn't get hurt jogging around left field with the three balls that are hit out there
07:03at night.
07:04He doesn't.
07:05Has he gotten hurt in the outfield before?
07:07When he ran into Pena, yeah.
07:10And also when he almost flipped himself in Atlanta.
07:12No, I mean, get the hell out of here, man.
07:14I'm just saying, this is a guy who is injury prone.
07:18I think you increase your odds of getting injured playing in the outfield.
07:22He increases.
07:23I mean, walking to the car, he could get injured.
07:25He's sure.
07:25By that mindset.
07:27Yeah, I'm just telling you, playing outfield is not what's injuring him.
07:30Tracking a ball.
07:30Playing outfield is not the problem.
07:32Tracking a ball with walls and running, I think, is more of a chance to get hurt than
07:37walking to his car.
07:38Yeah.
07:38Yeah, no, I just think he needs to play baseball, man.
07:41Play baseball, bro.
07:42You think he drives a truck?
07:44No.
07:45He probably drives a truck.
07:47No.
07:47No.
07:48Oh, I bet Altuve drives a truck.
07:51Compensating.
07:52What's up about Yordan?
07:53But I think Yordan goes the opposite.
07:54I think Yordan is probably in something real small, and that probably is why he gets hurt.
07:58Trying to hold himself in.
08:01I'm telling you, man.
08:01You see David Ortiz trying to fold himself in them Lamborghinis?
08:05Uh-uh.
08:05And then have to get his big ass up out of there?
08:07I bet his knees was hurting before he went up.
08:09I've seen Shaq take, like, the back seats out of some of these rides just so he can get
08:14in them little cars.
08:16Yeah.
08:17I bet Hunter Brown's in a truck.
08:20Hunter Brown's in a truck.
08:22A diesel.
08:26Jake Meyer's definitely in a truck.
08:28I don't know.
08:29He might be in a Jeep.
08:31Jeremy Pena's in a sports car.
08:33Absolutely.
08:35Absolutely.
08:35Correa is in a sedan, a high-dollar sedan.
08:38Christian Walker's in a SUV.
08:41No, he's in a pickup.
08:42He's in a lifted pickup.
08:43Oh, I think he's in a...
08:44You can't wear boots every time I see you.
08:47Does he wear boots every time?
08:48Yeah, boots and ringlets every day.
08:49He screamed Tahoe.
08:50He's driving a Cummins.
08:51I mean, he's got the plaid button-up with the vest over it with boots on.
08:55He can't climb out.
08:56He can't climb into...
08:57Black smoke rolling.
08:58Yeah, he can't climb into a slammed Escalade on 24s.
09:03He may not have them on 24s, but I bet he's in a nice Denali.
09:07No, I think he's in a title.
09:08I think he's in a pickup.
09:10He may be the top of the list in a pickup.
09:13Not one of them, like, Ford Rangers.
09:15I think Isak's just driving his first car.
09:17He got a...
09:18I bet not Isak.
09:19Isak got a 2007 Maxim.
09:21Isak strikes me as a guy.
09:22He's got to be...
09:23What's that truck that's real?
09:25The Raptor.
09:26He's got to have some speed, but, you know what I mean?
09:28That's all my pops.
09:28He's a guy that's, like, got a Mohawk and stuff.
09:31I want to be a truck.
09:32I want to be real big, rough, and rugged, tough guy, truck guy,
09:36but then I've got to be a little speed in there.
09:38And things are bad, man.
09:39I love Raptors.
09:41Yeah.
09:41I wonder...
09:42I wonder...
09:42Frommers is the one I can't put a...
09:44Oh, sports car.
09:46You think it's sports car?
09:46Oh, for sure.
09:48But maybe, like, kind of an obscure one.
09:50You think he's got a sports car with loud pipes?
09:52Oh, yeah.
09:54Fart cannon on that car, for sure.
09:57Is he underneath the Minute Maid Park, hitting the gate?
10:00Ring, ring, ring.
10:01No, he's at the Dyke, though.
10:02But, I mean...
10:03That's what I say.
10:04Oh, I'm going to say Minute Maid Park?
10:05Yeah.
10:05Somebody said Tuve's in a Range Rover.
10:07I could see that.
10:08Mm-hmm.
10:08I could see that.
10:09I could definitely see that.
10:10I could see that.
10:10That is right, fair.
10:11I hope he's not a Range Rover sport, but I could see it.
10:13Number two.
10:26Bye.
10:26I could see that.
10:27I could see it.
10:27I could see it.
10:28I could see it.
10:29I could see it.
10:30I could see it next time.
