Seth, Sean, Reggie and Lopez start kicking around the question of the day about the biggest/best things they've done while inebriated.
Transcript
00:00All right, boys. Question of the day. Oh, this is an important one.
00:02It never is. It never is. What happens if we mess it up?
00:09So Quentin Jammer said that he played at least eight games.
00:12I saw this.
00:13Bleep faced drunk in 2011. Yeah. Although he didn't say bleep. What's something that
00:18you accomplished drunk? Oh boy. Something that you accomplished drunk. I have a story
00:24why you guys let the wheels spin. Okay. So I've given some good. Oh, go ahead and tell
00:28your story. No, go ahead. Good. I was just trying to kill time for you. I've given some good
00:31speeches or public comments while drunk. That's a good one. I've done a couple of those. Maybe
00:37not drunk, but a little tipsy. Okay. Kind of loosens you up a little bit. Yeah. Mine was
00:42every, when I was covering National College football. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Every Monday you
00:46had to do the recap for the newspaper. Yep. And we had a block party on our street and I said,
00:52well, it was due by six o'clock. I said, I'll go down and I'll just have some sangria. Okay.
00:56What could hurt? Right, right, right. They put that, what is it? 151? Oh. That 151 proof
01:04clear. Everclear? Everclear. They put Everclear in there. Oh no, bitch. I drank three cups.
01:10Wow. I wrote my recap, didn't read it the next day. Yeah. And to this day, I have no idea
01:14what was in there. I was plastered. So you don't know if you did it well or not? No, I was plastered,
01:20like plastered drunk. You didn't set out to get plastered. No, I said, I'm just going to have.
01:24You slipped it in your drink. Well, a sangria that I found out afterwards when I was,
01:28you know, stumbling around. Everclear. Everclear, they put it in. Well, John, you were back when
01:33we used to do the roasts. I know you were in attendance for all the roasts we did since
01:36I've been to the station. You would agree I did a pretty good job at those roasts? Oh,
01:40absolutely. Yeah, that was my process was I would sit down in a bar and just get drunk and then write
01:47out all my insults. Yeah. And that was, that was a good, it was good for me. Yeah. It works.
01:52I have two. Um, I won the 1999 Jim Rome smack off. Really? Yeah. I was, I wasn't like,
01:59we, are you talking like blotto? I was, yeah, like I was, I had been drinking. I want, you know,
02:04like I was finished fourth the previous year and I still kind of got nervous when I would call in
02:09back then. Not anymore so much. Cause you know, I'm on the radio every day. Um, but I was, I was with
02:14a buddy. I, I, I did the first three calls I ever did. I did for my buddy Tony's apartment. And,
02:18um, and I, I had some, I drank before the, and I won and I won in 1999. I didn't drink for any of
02:25the other four. Um, but, uh, the other one was I won a trivia night of Sopranos. Oh yeah. Good
02:34fellas and the Godfather. Yeah. You could do that as a mafia trivia night. Yeah. Yeah. I won. It was
02:39like a big one though at a bar. I mean, there were like 50 or 60 people. Yeah. I crushed it. You
02:44know, the other funny thing, like, like, like I, I consider myself fluent in Spanish. I'm
02:50fluent, you know, in understanding. Sometimes I have to pause and think about the words. Reggie's
02:54seen this, you know, when I've been talking in Spanish here and there, when I drink, dude,
02:59it all comes back. It all, for some reason, it all comes back. Liquor induced, uh, language.
03:04Well, it's your memory. I don't like the language comes out better. Yeah. Or maybe I just think
03:09it, or maybe you're, maybe the inhibition is not there and you just go straight to a language.
03:13Yeah. I've gotten worse about remembering things after, uh, after a night, heavy night
03:19out, you know? So I, I try to watch myself, but I, but that, that particular night I was
03:23in a zone. Yeah. I knew every character. I knew every scene I was seeing, I mean, I
03:28was seeing the floor, man. I was seeing that floor, like magic Johnson. I do want to ask
03:32Seth, do you think it, that he really was plastered drunk and playing eight games in
03:372011? I know he was, uh, I saw somebody went and did a deep dive into the stats and by that,
03:43I mean, they looked up his PFF grades and he was like the worst guy in the league that
03:46year. So I think there's a good chance. I know, uh, look, I was on, um, I'm not going
03:51to say who this player was, but I was, we were playing in Denver. This is when I was with
03:54the Texans and, uh, we were playing, uh, it was an afternoon game, but I was sitting
04:03on the bus next to a guy, a defensive back. And it looks just kind of out of it. And I
04:10was like, Hey man, you, you all right. And he's like, well, I just, I wanted to catch
04:15some sleep because I woke up early. So I wanted to, after breakfast, I took a few, like a few
04:21nighttime cold medicines. I can't remember what it was. It was like nighttime Sudafed
04:25or something like that. And, and he played like it, but he really, he missed a couple
04:31tackles where it was like, and this was, you know, it by, by three hours, two hours
04:36after that, we would have been when he was looking groggy on the bus where he idiotically
04:41took some nighttime medicine at like it's 6am to try to go back to sleep. His, his reaction
04:47time and everything was slower. So yeah, like he wasn't intentionally drunk, but he was drunk.
04:51Yeah. Um, I do wonder if also like this works for different positions, right? Like, uh, cause
04:58Marshawn Lynch, I don't know if any, if there were any games that Marshawn Lynch didn't take
05:02a little nip of Henny, but I'm like that dude's job is run into people. Yeah. Easy. Like that's
05:07defensive back. There's a lot of reading and reacting here, dude. Yes. Yes. And just more
05:12high speed stuff. Like Marshawn Lynch never has to hit 22 miles an hour on the GPS. He
05:17just needs to blunt force trauma people slow down over and over and over and over. By
05:23the way, let's talk brought by Dean. I'm auto leasing. You're listening to KLTM KLT FM HD
05:27to Houston and Odyssey sports station. I'll tell you another story. NFL story. I was, uh, I was
05:33talking to a guy once who was a practice squad player and he was good. Like he was very naturally
05:38gifted. He was an offensive lineman. Um, but he told me that he discovered this when he
05:44was in college, that he played better when he got drunk the night before a game. And, and
05:50I'm kind of, as he's telling me this, I'm thinking about his, his career so far and everything in
05:56the fact that he's definitely not fulfilling all of his physical potential. He had to spend
06:00a couple of years in NFL Europe, but that, and, and he played, he played in an FCS school
06:06where I'm like, yeah, dude, you, you went out and beat up on Towson state or something.
06:10It had nothing to do with the fact that you got drunk the night before the game. You're
06:14going to beat those guys up no matter what you look like. You look like a mountain of
06:18a man, but in his head, he had it convinced that he needed to go out and get drunk every
06:23night before a game. And it was not working out for him. I tried to explain it to him.
06:27He got very angry. I think he was drunk. Yeah. You were messing with an angry drunk.
06:34Um, this is how I know this is going to be a good segment at 10 40 text message. I got
06:39my wife pregnant. Oh, that's also one of those things that's within the rumble. If you've
06:44been, if you're really hammered, that's probably not an easy thing to do. You know, by extension,
06:48all your little sperm of ZOA were drunk too. So they didn't, they weren't overthinking it.
06:53It's like, all right, let's go. Let's do this. Let's fertilize. There is a sweet spot. There
07:03is a sweet spot. You don't want to go too far beyond the line, right? That little sperm of
07:08ZOA wasn't intimidated to talk to that egg. It was up, rolled right up, rolled right up
07:13with a million of his friends. Yeah. Yeah. Fight off a million of them, you know?
