00:00We heard the news come out of Happy Valley yesterday with Matt Campbell.

00:04That was a huge deal, eight years potentially being worked at,

00:08and I think a pretty really solid hire.

00:11So we'll see exactly how that plays out.

00:13Matt Campbell has stepped up at Iowa State,

00:15made them a prominent program in the Big 12,

00:18and again, Penn State botched it for basically what?

00:21They really did.

00:22Two months? Two months they botched it?

00:24You know what's funny, Joe?

00:25If they went earlier in that, you know, interviewing and got Campbell,

00:29people are like, yeah, you know what, that's great.

00:31The fact that they actually wound up with Campbell,

00:32if they're striking out on, like, everybody that would talk to them,

00:35I think that's pretty amazing.

00:36Yeah, I mean, they went for Satake.

00:38Now, supposedly the rumor, I don't know if you heard this.

00:41What do you got? Cookies?

00:42No, so James Franklin came to Vitek, like, last weekend with Krispy Kremes.

00:48So the CEO, supposedly, of Krispy Kremes was close to Satake and basically talked to him.

00:54No, it's crumble cookies.

00:55Crumble cookies.

00:56You can tell these guys don't eat sweets over here.

00:58I don't eat sweets.

01:00And that was why Satake didn't take the job.

01:03So, you know, it's just – and I heard Saban talk about this,

01:08which is absolutely ridiculous.

01:10You know, they need tempered expectations at Penn State.

01:12Get real, Nick.

01:13I think Nick lost his fastball because we're not talking about Boston College,

01:18Michigan State, South Carolina, Maryland, Iowa.

01:21You're talking about a prominent program that in the mid-'90s thought about national championships all the time.

01:27The fact that Penn State can't get back to relevancy and dominance at the Big Ten level

01:34and can't beat teams like Michigan and Ohio State at least once a year is absolutely ridiculous to me.

01:40And the fact that the fan base would accept that is ridiculous.

01:44I mean, we're not – we're talking about millions and billions of dollars now in the sport.

01:50It's growing exponentially every year.

01:53And if a team like Indiana could go to the college football playoff in your own conference, anybody can go.

01:59And it should be Penn State.

02:01He's ridiculous, Nick Saban.

02:02You know what's also funny about that comment by Nick Saban, too, because the guys won multiple championships.

02:07But also now in this day and age, Joe, where it's about making the tournament in college football,

02:12which you have 12 teams get in, those are championship aspirations.

02:15Like, you make it into – I doubt any power team makes it in.

02:18Like, Oklahoma, you don't think – you think they're going into this tournament and playoffs and saying to themselves,

02:23man, it's just fun to be here.

02:24Like, no, they actually think they can win this thing and so does their fan base.

02:27Why would Penn State say, hey, calm down for a couple years?

02:30When James Franklin got fired because the expectations are championship.

02:33Yeah, exactly.

02:34And he makes the college football playoff last year, and his quarterback doesn't complete a pass to a wide receiver,

02:40and they lose to Notre Dame, who makes it to the national championship game.

02:43He never lost that.

02:44It's absolutely ridiculous.

02:46But this is where we are in college football.

02:49We'll see.

02:49I think Matt Campbell's a home run higher because, again, he got Rocco Beck there from Iowa State.

02:55He can elevate the quarterback position to the level.

02:57Think about his last two quarterbacks.

02:59Brock Purdy, a star in the NFL, and Rocco Beck, something that Penn State, Donnie,

03:05I went through the 25 quarterbacks dating back to Kerry Collins.

03:09Garbage.

03:10I'm sorry.

03:11Penn State has never had an elite number one draft pick since Kerry Collins,

03:15and that's why they have failed to win consistently Big Ten championships

03:19and make it to the college football playoff.
