00:00Thank you for being here today. You're going to take the stage. How are you feeling?
00:04I'm feeling a little nervous, I'll be honest.
00:06You know, it's a great room with a lot of amazing, amazing people.
00:10And I believe I'm the first person speaking, so there's some pressure.
00:15I did speak to Oprah a couple times.
00:18And honestly, the fact that I met her and she was so kind and normal
00:23makes me feel less nervous today.
00:26And she just sort of came up to me and said hi, and we spoke for a little while,
00:30and then the next day we spoke again.
00:32So, I mean, she's so inspiring, but she's also a human being.
00:37Like a lovely, lovely human being.
00:39So that makes me feel less nervous today.
00:41I feel like I could leave my job and be on the Kumail Nanjiani beat
00:45with all the projects you're doing.
00:46I could exclusively write about you.
00:48Every day there's a new headline about a new project.
00:50I think one of the latest ones is that you're joining Angelina Jolie and the Eternals.
00:54I can't comment on that.
00:57You should ask Marvel that.
00:59Okay, I'll ask Marvel that.
01:00But then also you have a movie coming out in a couple of weeks with Dave Bautista
01:04called Stuber, not to be confused with Scott Stuber.
01:07Right, yeah.
01:08It's not to be confused with amazing producer Scott Stuber.
01:11Stuber comes out in July.
01:13It's me and Dave Bautista.
01:14It's like a really fun, awesome action comedy.
01:16And I just really like that movie.
01:19We just did a press tour for it last week, sort of, you know, doing a screening in a bunch
01:25of different cities.
01:25And I'm so proud of that movie.
01:28You know, and one of the great things about seeing you work so much is knowing how many
01:32people are getting inspired by seeing you on screen.
01:34I'm wondering if you'd take me back to when you were younger.
01:37Who was the first person you saw on screen that inspired you to do what you do?
01:40Wow, I mean, that's a difficult question.
01:45But I remember when I saw, and this wasn't that that long ago, but I remember when I saw
01:51Cal Penn in Harold and Commander at White Castle.
01:54I'd just never seen someone who looks like me playing a role like that.
01:59Sort of a stoner, pothead, slacker kind of guy.
02:03Because I'd only seen us playing computer people or bad guys or whatever it is.
02:07And to see him play like a sort of just a comedy character who was just a normal guy,
02:13the kind of people that I knew, that honestly was huge for me.
02:18It was great.
02:18And it's nice to know that you're that person to a lot of other people out there.
02:22You get a little political on Twitter sometimes.
02:25You know, we're in the heat of the campaign season, or it's getting ready to set on fire,
02:29I think, soon.
02:31How are you feeling about the candidates?
02:32Who are you most looking forward to hearing more about?
02:35Oh, man.
02:37I'm mostly, because I haven't decided my, I don't know who I'm supporting yet.
02:42So I am looking forward to hearing from everyone.
02:45And right now, as you said, there are so many people in the field.
02:49It's hard to sort of pay attention to everybody.
02:52So I'm just sort of waiting it out a little bit.
02:54And I'm going to really start getting fully engaged in a little bit,
02:58because right now, I honestly feel a little overwhelmed.
03:02And it's just a little bit of a mental health.
03:06It's self-care to be just a little bit checked out right now.
